Like Emily I've been having screen problems. Sent my 6288 back to Nokia a couple of weeks back for repair, a week later a replacement was sent out BUT the screen problem persists intermittently! Other than that the handset is great & nothing like the awful 6280 which was a nightmare!

I bought this phone in February 2007. I loved it to pieces for a few months, until I started having problems.

Since then I have had to get the screen replaced 3 times. The screen goes black for a couple of seconds, & then comes back on. Happens more & more frequently, then the screen colours go all strange (yellow turns to purple etc), screen turns upside down, & doubles up (instead of having the word inbox at the top of the screen, it has it 3 times one under the other). This happens until the screen goes completely dead.

I managed to get it repaired for free these 3 times under my warranty, & got a loan time whilst it was being fixed, but it was still a pain to keep taking it in.

My phone's now out of warranty & the screen is going on me again! I am thinking of upgrading as I don't need the hassle & having to fork out for repairs for another 10 months until I am out of contract.

unfortunately friends with a 6288 have the same problem.

I used to love Nokia, but now I am not too sure if I would buy one again. I would definitely not buy this one again anyway.

Yeah this phone is great at the beginning, but trust me don't buy it.
I've had it for one year, & I've had to get it fixed three times!
The screen is so vulnerable when you drop it, which you will, even if you try not to & the battery will need replacing after a while.
Don't get it!

The phone is an OK phone. The things I didn't like was that you can't use the front camera to take pictures its only for video calls, it does tend to get really hot when talking for semi long periods of time. So hot it's uncomfortable to keep by your ear. Another thing is that the volume is rubbish!

Despite all this it's not a terrible phone, but not one that I would recommend.

Had this phone 4 months & guess what, my screen has gone completely. After the performance of it switching itself on & off on its own, I was lucky enough to find when it was on the screen was upside down & now nothing absolutely nothing. I have had to send my phone back to tmobile which will take approx 4 weeks (& as a friend said they will return it back saying no fault found). I would strongly recommend this phone is scrapped as when mine is returned I am asking for a different phone from my network. Shame.

HAD FOR 12 WEEKS ON 3 NETWORK. CANCEL KEY & PHONE KEY JUST STOPPED WORKING. SENT BACK UNDER WARRANTY & WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT THEY REFUSED REPAIR DUE TO MOISTURE ENTERING PHONE. The USUAL COP OUT. The PHONE HAS NEVER BEEN NEAR WATER.THREE doesn't WANT TO DO ANYTHING EXCEPT FOB ME OFF & SAY THAT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE PHONE AT MY OWN COST. LOCAL PHONE SHOP SAYS THEY CAN DO REPAIR FOR 20 POUNDS. Don't rely ON Nokia WARRANTY THEY don't CARE Neither DO THREE.

I have had the 6288 for about 4 months & haven't had any problems. However I think it feels pretty cheap for a Nokia, the slider is loose & rattles plus it scratches really easily It does look really pretty though. Other than that it is a good phone & the camera is great too.

Brought this phone six months ago & have never had any problems. I love it. Use the music player everyday during work & have never had a problem with the battery not lasting. Pictures are great that have been taken on it. I recently looked at buying another phone but none come up to the standard that I am used to with this. So I am going to stay with this phone.

I bought this phone in December 2006. It is currently in repair for the second time & luckily I managed to rebook for repair before the warranty ran out (just). Over time in increasing frequency to every time the phone would completely shut down & was not able to turn back on again until after a certain rest period. I was told by Vodafone that when it has problems reload the software from the Nokia website. I am currently arguing for a new phone.

I just bought the Nokia 6288, put in the simcard & battery. With the memory card do I put in both of them? Because I also bought the 1G memory card. So can both the memory cards go in the same time? Because that's what I have done & the mobile is now charging. Hope I did the right thing?

The Nokia 6288 has to be the worst phone ever. Even the cheaper 1112 does a better job. You have been warned. Don't waste your money. Battery life is rubbish. Backlight only stays on for 6 seconds & cannot be adjusted. Ring volume is not good. It doesn't come with a normal ring tone. The absolute worst phone ever. Nokia care line lies & tells you were told that the backlight could not be adjusted when they didn't. My last Nokia.

Never had issues with it turning of etc however for a period it just simply stopped working had it in hand after full charge looked at time then looked at it bout 2 minutes later & it was off didn't turn back on even while on charger & the day I was going to take it back to the store to get it repaired it turned on for about 15 mins & did the same thing so at the moment its in my bottom draw doing very little.

Appeared a great phone but started having problems after two months i.e. battery would be flat within 4 hours however long charged for. Then phone started locking up & would have to turn on & off. Use of the slider often caused the phone to lock also.

Girlfriend has same phone & it turns its self off. Assessment rubbish! Don't waste your money & believe it or not, it is never a serviceable fault!

I stayed clear of the Nokia 6280 due to problems I'd read about with it shutting down on own etc. Guess what? Yes, my Nokia 6288 started to do the same. Won't charge on mains, so have to go out to car to charge. The battery life is terrible & a great disappointment. Even more so in that Vodafone say they will have to have it repaired, how are you meant to manage without a mobile these days, for goodness sake? Think I'd like to change it now for an E65, unless you know differently.

Pros
- Nice screen, very bright & 2.2 inches.
- Slide mechanism is very smooth & responsive.
- Good design.
- Camera shoots video very crisp clear & displays full screen.

Cons
- Heavy weight, top part is almost the same as the bottom.
- No auto focus & only 1 led flash.
- Music player is horrible, doesn't even arrange the in alphabetical order.

Overall, it's a great phone to use but gets boring after a while.

Slimer (or anyone else in the UK): if it's broke & wasn't your fault talk to trading standards. Look the number up for your local branch at trading standards, give them a ring & they'll try to help you with what to do next. You'll probably have to write a nasty letter or something but it should work if you were sold faulty goods.

I was adamant on getting this phone. Got it December 2006. First few weeks of having it I had no trouble but after the first month, all the problems started rolling in. It would turn itself off for no reason & it would do this during text messages & calls. The screen cover is pathetic, dust gets under the screen & there is no way of cleaning it unless you take it back to the dealer & the casing gets scratched to easily. Last week the phone decided to put a password on my memory card which I now cannot access. My advice to you all is do not buy this phone, it's the biggest piece of rubbish you can buy today. I'll be nice & give it a 2/10.

When I first got this phone, it was great, had everything I needed. However it was a bit bulky & didn't come with half as many features as a Sony Ericsson. After about 6months of having the phone, it decides to turn itself off, saying battery empty, even when it's on charge, or when I have only charged it hours before. The battery life was never good on the phone, it would only last 2days maximum.

Pretty piece of kit I say. But is it very thick compared to most other phones with similar specifications, this doesn't stop it being beautiful.

Features are nothing special compared to what is available now. A phone is for texting & calling, both of these it does well. The camera is great for a phone that isn't marketed on its camera abilities, it's far better than my old Sony Ericsson which was also 2 megapixel.

The GUI is very simple but & this is a big but, its battery life is low, this is because I am on a 3G network (e.g. 3 mobile (UK only)), most networks are 2G, I estimate that on a 2G network you would get 4 days of standard usage which isn't bad.

This phone looked good. It had good features. It was easy to use until the screen went HAYWIRE! This happened twice. First time I sent it back they put a new screen in. Second time I can't tell my dad otherwise I am in trouble. I liked my K610i, I had no problems with it but stupid water! Now I have a LG U880 & it's excellent I absolutely love it!

No problems with it had it for 2 months works like a charm only problem buttons are a tad too small but oh well. You could buy this phone but I would rather the K610i or the LG U880 go for the k610i if you don't mind losing some features.

Nice phone with nice video camera.

Cons are the front cover tends to trap dust. The phone is a little bulky. If it's a Symbian phone.

Pros are large screen display. Nice sound.

Tips for saving battery life, change the network to non-3G if you rarely use them. Before I knew about this my battery gets flat after 2 days (I am not a person who always talk on the phone). After I change the network (I don't or rarely use 3G), the battery can last me for 4-5 days!

I've had this phone for about two weeks. All the settings are nicely set out, interface is nice, functions work well. There are only two things I would like to set that I can't.

One is the phone light switching off automatically if no buttons are pressed.

The other is minimizing applications. I want to be able to read a message & then go back into a paused game (for example).

Would both be easy to implement.

I have not dropped it or banged it in the whole time I have had it. Think it is a design fault. Also took ages to get back off to get sim card in or out. I would strongly recommend people not to buy the Nokia 6288. The hardware is very stylish & reasonably practical but certain aspects of the software logic are very bad. General problems with the Nokia 6288 phone,

- The backlight goes off after 10 sec (non adjustable) & no button can be safely pressed to relight the screen as the buttons retain their functions when the back light is off.

- The phone back is extremely difficult to remove. Text messaging on the Nokia 6288 is a horrible experience for the following reasons, it is very easy to send a message accidentally as the send button is in the middle of the cursor & no confirmation is requested, the message is sent straight away.
