I bought this phone when I was in year 5. At first it was really cool & stuff, but now it's really gone out of style. I got it for 250 dollars, which is a bit of a rip off. It lasted a full year without replacing the battery, but each time you drop it, it gets a pretty bad dent, & the phone just falls apart. I dropped it once & now it has this massive split on the side. I kept it for two years & it was going great, no freezing, no breakages so no replacements. But in my second mid year, the screen froze & went blank, so the screen was completely broken. I had to replace my screen for 100 dollars. The same thing happened again the next year.

I don't like this phone at all, but the greatest thing about it is that it's great if you aren't a regular phone user. I was in year 5 & I texted HEAPS. But this phone is casual & pretty awesome if you take care of it. Right now I've got the Boost Slider in red, & I have to admit, this phone is pretty good & better than the Nokia 6288.

I recommend this phone for younger users.

When I fist go this phone I really liked the features it had to offer. It has now been 5 months since I bought my phone & it constantly keeps creating a black screen & I have to turn it on & off again. Now the charger doesn't work so I have been using a USB adapter to charge the phone but now that doesn't work. So now I have been unable to charge my phone for 2 weeks. If you are considering buying this phone I suggest not to until Nokia learns to fix its problems.

I have had this phone for 14 months & it has been brilliant up until 2 days ago, when the screen decided to go black, it just died!

That being said I can still use the phone to answer incoming & make outgoing calls, just can't see what's on screen, so literally just using to answer calls at the mo, until I can decide what to have next.

It has sustained dozens of drops on the floor, rattling around in my handbag, being dropped on the floor some more, being dropped in the bath & dried out on the radiator.

The battery lasts for 2-3 days without charging, although I do tend to put it on charge every night anyway.

I probably haven't used all the functions on this phone, I think there's loads I haven't even found, but as far as calling, texting & the camera & video go it's been brilliant & don't regret having had it a single day.

In fact for a 2 megapixel camera, its brilliant & I use it ALL the time on nights out in clubs, when my sons playing etc, the time delay on the shots is about 2 seconds which can be a bit annoying when your trying to get an action shot though.

The design is a bit outdated now & not as attractive as the newer models or the touch screen & slider jobby's, but it's not ugly.

All in all, it's been brilliant & I would have continued using it for the foreseeable future if the screen hadn't finally, after some considerable abuse, died!

I've had this phone for 18 months now & not had a single problem with it. The slider is a little bit flimsy, but seems to work OK. My contract with 3 is just about to end. Just had a look at the 6500 slide looks nice, but not sure how durable it's going to be, it seems to have very bad reviews!

I don't know what phone everyone else has been using but mine is fantastic. I've never had a problem with the battery (it does run down quite quickly if I use the Internet or music player but no more than any other phone I've used & I've never had to charge it more than once a day when using these functions).

The phone is reliable, connects well to the Internet, it is easy to upload & download information when necessary & it did even survive a (small) fall. Being a girl, the phone is often banging around in my handbag & has never become unlocked or got damaged in any way.

I've just come to the end of an 18 month contract with this phone & am very tempted to keep it & not upgrade to a new phone because that's how much I love it!

Me, my boyfriend & my mother all have this phone & all of them are faulty! My one if you push the camera button it comes up with operation failed then you can't get off that screen unless you take out the battery then it takes around half an hour to turn back on & get off the white screen, also the battery life doesn't last very long. My mothers one turns itself off whenever it feels like it, & my boyfriends one is by far the worst, for some reson the screen doesn't go into power saving mode any more so no matter how long he has it on charge it goes dead within an hour, also it has moments where none of the buttons work except the off button & it turns off all the time.

I loved this phone to start off with, but it really isn't worth all the troubles it has in the long run.

Had this phone for the past 5 months & it started to go wrong pretty much straight away.

First the case started to fall apart, & then it started to switch itself off every now & then (which I thought was from lack of charging up), but now I'm having to charge it every night cause it won't stay switched on for more than 24 to 30 hours.

& now all of a sudden the screen will go all weird. Dark lines will appear all across the screen & sometimes that will be the end of it, & it will be OK but sometimes it will just die straight afterwards. I thought I was seeing things at first, but it's happened several times now & I've had enough of it. I swear there's a gremlin in it!

The phone is so flimsy when it's extended or compacted. The whole casing is very plasticy. Far too bulky, feels like I'm carrying a really old house brick around in my pocket!

Locking Phone. Now that's a MAJOR pain. When you want to lock your phone you've got to unslide him, close him & THEN press middle button. But unlocking him is easier, just unslide him. Surely that's bad design. Shouldn't it be made so it's HARD to UNLOCK him, & easy to lock (not vice versa). So easy to phone someone by mistake when it's in pocket or in bottom of bag. Very bad design.

Took him back to 3 yesterday due to him keep switching himself off, but the man wasn`t bothered in the slightest! Not impressed with phone or with 3. Should be under warranty (only had him 5 months), but man made me feel like phone not working was all down to me.

Never have another Nokia EVER again. Must have been a fool to move away from Sony Ericsson. Sorry Sony Ericsson.

This phone is shockingly bad. It was okay for the first couple of weeks on my contract, so I didn't take it back within the first 14 days or so if I didn't like it or not.

- 2 months on it started playing up, the back cover keeps coming off.
- the camera won't work, when I went onto camera it said 'camera is busy' then my phone shut down.
- the flash never works, only occasionally.
- the light on my screen always went off, so I could hardly see the screen at all, so I usually had to put a light onto it, (I got this fixed as I sent it off for repair but it kept happening).
- When trying to send a message, my phone deleted the whole message & shut off. Also, when trying to send a message it always failed, so had to turn the phone on & off again.
- the phone doesn't work well with music either, when trying to use the music player, my whole phone froze, & wouldn't actually turn off, so I had to take the battery out.

My sisters & 3 of my friends all had this phone & encountered the exact problems. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I had this phone for 9 months without problem, it was a great phone, easy to use, & yes it had a low memory but it wasn't an issue for me & I was generally very pleased with it. However, it then started going wrong!

Over the course of a week it got slowly worse. Firstly the screen kept scrambling itself with what looked like static interference when you unlocked it. Then the menu options started duplicating, appearing at both top & bottom of the screen. Next the screen colours kept changing into a negative effect so that blue was black, yellow was purple, etc. All this was quite irritating but it'd eventually clear & go back to normal. But after that the screen started blacking out completely every time you pressed a key & you had to wait 30 seconds or so for the screen to reappear & catch up with you. Then it got so that it was so unreliable I couldn't guarantee that I would be able to use it quickly in an emergency & so I phoned Vodafone. They suggested downloading a software update from the Nokia website, which I did but to no avail.

I've always had Nokia's & never had a problem until now. I was going to replace the phone with the same model but having looked at all the other reviews, it appears I am not the only one having these problems, obviously some kind of design fault? !

I highly recommend that you DO NOT buy this phone, chances are it'll go wrong!

I've read almost half of the reviews, & I agree with basically all of them.

It's a cute little phone, but it's so unreliable. I have an 18 month contract on 3 given to me from the Carphone Warehouse in December 2007. They recommended this phone for me, although I was looking at another one & trusted their advice until it broke.

I've had it repaired twice now, first when the screen cracked, & a second time when the small part of the charger detached itself from the phone it came back beyond repair.

I now have a new handset that I've had for a month & the phone freezes & I can't press any buttons except the off button, & my green button for calls doesn't work whatsoever. I am going back soon this week to change my contract. I've had enough with this phone, I recommend Sony Ericsson's because most of my family has one, & never EVER had a problem with them.

I've also consistently had the problem of the 3 network cutting me off, & no signal, & connection problems of all sorts. I wouldn't recommend 3 to anyone, or the Nokia 6288.

Had this phone on an 18 month contract with 3. Firstly 3 don't have signal anywhere, the camera on the phone takes ages to take the picture, the battery lasts for about 3 hours if you play music on & off have to charge it once to twice a day. The Bluetooth on the phone has broken & won't connect to the computer anymore so can't get any music at all lastly with outgoing & incoming calls I can't hear the people talking to me but they can hear me. This phone is a waste of time & I would never recommend it for anyone. Stay well away.

I really enjoyed using the phone while the screen worked. After 13 months, it went blank for a day, came back for an hour or so & then has now completely failed.

I took it back to Carphone Warehouse who sent it off for repair. It came back one week later Beyond economic repair. Reason, ingress of moisture. It has never been in an even slightly damp environment! I pointed out to the sales assistant that I was not happy with the situation, but he said that there was nothing he could do. My main argument was that CPW had sold me an 18 month contract, but the phone they supplied me with lasted just 13. What was I supposed to do now?

I do recommend anybody buying anything from CPW if this is the customer service that they offer. I would also not buy this model from Nokia because, whilst it has good features, it is too fragile.

My daughter bought this phone, within one week it was not working, screen would just go white & turn off. Managed to get Australia Post to replace it as we took it back just inside their TWO WEEK cut off! (Note to self never buy from Australia Post again).

Took new phone home, three weeks later exactly the same thing happened, just before Christmas. No good going back to APost, tried to ring Nokia, got answering machine because it was holidays. Rang again, must send with receipts. Couldn't find receipts, daughter had gone to US by now without phone, but took charger!

My other daughter (unbeknown to me) bought one of these, so got her to charge this one up so I could try & download info, won't charge!

DON'T BUY IT.

Was a great phone at first HOWEVER after 11 months all of a sudden one day the screen went black & wouldn't work again. At around the same time 2 other friends with the same phone had EXACTLY the same problem happen with theirs & we all got given the run around by Nokia & Vodafone even though the phones were under warranty! They said it was moisture & corrosion inside the phone when no one had their phone exposed to water!

If you are thinking of buying this phone DO NOT BUY IT & if you already have this phone & it still works, trust me get rid of it before it breaks. Don't be ignorant & think it won't happen to you because it most likely will. Read the other reviews & you will see that it's a very common problem. Will never get a Nokia again!

I must be the exception to the rule here!

I am just about to pick up my new 6500 & hope it performs as well as the 6280 & 6288. I've had the 6288 since upgrade from the 6280 for over a year (which I sold to a work colleague on PAYG) & have never had a problem, even after dropping it on concrete paving after a fall (lucky I guess). The only thing about the 6288 is it looks a bit plastic. My mate loves the look of the 6288, so we've swapped & I've gone back to the 6280 which I was a bit dubious about parting with anyway.

A couple of tips, if you drop the phone, 95% of the time, it will break. These are very delicate bits of machinery.

Also, Bluetooth eats battery life which maybe why so many of you complain about the battery, the 2 phones above hold charge for 4 to 5 days no problem, but I don't have it strapped to my ear for 12 hours a day.

The design is okay, but a bit bulky & the slide mechanism is slightly loose & rattles when touched. The features are fairly good besides the fact that my camera is playing up sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Also the camera is fairly bad quality unless in sun light. I have already had to get mine repaired as the screen packed in after a fairly minor fall. I was very happy with this phone for the first two months but its rubbish now. My sister has one of the older 6288 & hers got run over by a car & still managed to have some of the screen work. Not to happy with it but it is okay in my books.

I have had this phone for 15 months now with no problems at all. Mine came with NO games on it at all which I thought was a bit odd, not even snake, not sure if that's because of the network I use which is 3 or just mine never had them. Good enough phone although keep accidently switching on the RECORD button on left side of phone when picking it up. I don't know why they bother putting such small memory cards in these phones, the minimum should be a 512MB card not a 64MB.

I bought this phone in February 2007. I loved it to pieces for a few months, until I started having problems.

Since then I have had to get the screen replaced 3 times. The screen goes black for a couple of seconds, & then comes back on. Happens more & more frequently, then the screen colours go all strange (yellow turns to purple etc), screen turns upside down, & doubles up (instead of having the word inbox at the top of the screen, it has it 3 times one under the other). This happens until the screen goes completely dead.

I managed to get it repaired for free these 3 times under my warranty, & got a loan time whilst it was being fixed, but it was still a pain to keep taking it in.

My phone's now out of warranty & the screen is going on me again! I am thinking of upgrading as I don't need the hassle & having to fork out for repairs for another 10 months until I am out of contract.

unfortunately friends with a 6288 have the same problem.

I used to love Nokia, but now I am not too sure if I would buy one again. I would definitely not buy this one again anyway.

The things I didn't like was that you can't use the front camera to take pictures its only for video calls, it does tend to get really hot when talking for semi long periods of time. So hot it's uncomfortable to keep by your ear. Another thing is that the volume is rubbish!

It would turn itself off for no reason & it would do this during text messages & calls. The screen cover is pathetic, dust gets under the screen & there is no way of cleaning it unless you take it back to the dealer & the casing gets scratched to easily. Last week the phone decided to put a password on my memory card which I now cannot access. My advice to you all is do not buy this phone, it's the biggest piece of rubbish you can buy today. Pretty piece of kit I say. But is it very thick compared to most other phones with similar specifications, this doesn't stop it being beautiful.

Features are nothing special compared to what is available now. A phone is for texting & calling, both of these it does well. The camera is great for a phone that isn't marketed on its camera abilities, it's far better than my old Sony Ericsson which was also 2 megapixel.

The GUI is very simple but & this is a big but, its battery life is low, this is because I am on a 3G network (e.g. 3 mobile (UK only)), most networks are 2G, I estimate that on a 2G network you would get 4 days of standard usage which isn't bad.

This phone looked good. It had good features. It was easy to use until the screen went HAYWIRE! This happened twice. First time I sent it back they put a new screen in. Second time I can't tell my dad otherwise I am in trouble. I liked my K610i, I had no problems with it but stupid water! Now I have a LG U880 & it's excellent I absolutely love it!

No problems with it had it for 2 months works like a charm only problem buttons are a tad too small but oh well. You could buy this phone but I would rather the K610i or the LG U880 go for the k610i if you don't mind losing some features.

Nice phone with nice video camera.

Cons are the front cover tends to trap dust. The phone is a little bulky. If it's a Symbian phone.

Pros are large screen display. Nice sound.

Tips for saving battery life, change the network to non-3G if you rarely use them. Before I knew about this my battery gets flat after 2 days (I am not a person who always talk on the phone). After I change the network (I don't or rarely use 3G), the battery can last me for 4-5 days!

One is the phone light switching off automatically if no buttons are pressed.

The other is minimizing applications. I want to be able to read a message & then go back into a paused game (for example).

Would both be easy to implement.

I have not dropped it or banged it in the whole time I have had it. Think it is a design fault. Also took ages to get back off to get sim card in or out. I would strongly recommend people not to buy the Nokia 6288. The hardware is very stylish & reasonably practical but certain aspects of the software logic are very bad. General problems with the Nokia 6288 phone,

- The backlight goes off after 10 sec (non adjustable) & no button can be safely pressed to relight the screen as the buttons retain their functions when the back light is off.

- The phone back is extremely difficult to remove. Text messaging on the Nokia 6288 is a horrible experience for the following reasons, it is very easy to send a message accidentally as the send button is in the middle of the cursor & no confirmation is requested, the message is sent straight away. The green "phone button" sends the messages as well. This makes the writing of text messages very stressful which is made even worse because the backlight goes off if the operator pauses for 10sec. The second reason is there is no time or date record for text messages stored in the "Inbox" or "Sent Items" box.

- the shiny casing gets covered in smears, even with the cleanest hands.
- the back cover is incredibly hard to get off & I thought I was going to break the slide when trying to remove the cover.
- the SIM card is hard to get out.

On a plus side, I find the camera shutter is so much faster than that on my Motorola RAZR.

After a short while decided to give the 6288 a try haven't missed the symbian UI at all, the ease of use of the 6288 brings back fond memories of holidays & recording the kids, you get good results all the time.

Fingers crossed that the bugs leave me alone, already swapped the E65 for this phone. But so far really happy with it, does everything I want, & with the 1 gig memory card you couldn't ask for more ;-)

Have had this phone a few weeks now having upgraded from the Sony Ericsson K750i. Haven't had a Nokia for some years & was a bit wary as I have heard that this once superior brand had gone a bit downhill but I am very pleased with the 6288. The menu hasn't changed very much from my last Nokia which was the 3510i (which I loved using even though by today's phones it was HUGE!) It's a bit heavier & not as slim as my previous two mobiles but it works well. Lovely large clear screen, buttons are of a decent size, camera & radio work well &, as mentioned before, the menu is so easy to navigate. Put in a 1GB memory card & it can hold loads of tunes, pictures, etc. I haven't really had an issue with battery life but, to be honest, apart from messing about with it when I first had it (had to charge it up the following day) I haven't found it to be a problem although, having said that, my old K750i could go for at least 9 days before charging was required. My only criticism would be that the casing is plastic & a bit cheap looking (which is why I knocked off a point for design) but it's a small price to pay for a stylish looking, very sturdy phone.

I don't think you can beat Samsung for design, there slide phones are the best but Nokia beats them hands down for the easy menu. No matter how many other makes of mobiles I have had in the past I always seem to come back to Nokia. As much as I loved my old Ericsson K750i, in the end the joystick got sticky & it was terribly frustrating to use. All in all I think the Nokia 6288 is a great phone to use, packed with loads of features & it's one you're not embarrassed to get out in front of your mates. Keep up the good work Nokia.

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has had or has had a similar problem with their Nokia 6288.

When the sim card is in the phone, my front panel of the phone does not work, I can enter my pin but the select & middle bottom will not do anything. When I take the sim card out the phone works perfectly I can read my messages view contacts there is nothing that doesn't work. Therefore the possible solution would be the sim card is broken. This is not the case as I have the sim card in my brothers old 3 phone & it works perfectly. So my end result is the sim card & phone can no longer work together.

My phone has been taken into repair but I have been told that this is my fault. Please if anyone has had a problem with it can you let me know so I can bring this up with them? So far I have two friends from school that have had similar problems.

Nokia 6288 & Nokia 6280 are the same apart from the case. Always been with Nokia but have had my Sony Ericsson k800i for a month OK it's a legit one Using Sony Ericsson software not the other Networks. OK People Here is what you need to do to fix any of your phones software problems! UPDATE IT via there websites using ANY normal USB cable which now a days comes with the phone. Samsung phones all need to get an NSpro Box to change the software on the phone this can cost £100 for the box very easy to-do but why bother just pay your local mobile phone shop to debrand your phone.

I own a 6280, not a 6288, but I think I have a valid comment to make.

6280 is much better looking than 6288, & cheaper too. So long as you update the firmware (to at least v6.10), it is literally bug-free.

I have used my friends 6288 before & there's like no (internal) difference between this & 6280. The phone software language is IDENTICAL, both RM-78

Yes this ships with a bigger memory card but miniSD cards are now dirt cheap. I just paid S$24 for a 2GB miniSD card o_o

I recommend 6280 over this.

The design of this phone is great. The camera/zoom keys are in great positions, navigating the menus is easy because of the massive screen & big buttons. The middle 'select' button can be annoying however because often the surrounding navigation buttons can get in the way. The way the slide hides the buttons only used for txting & calling is very useful. However the slide is better accessed from the side cause otherwise you get either fingerprints on the screen or activate the camera.

Features are nice, there is a very well positioned button on the phone which activates the useless voice recorder. Great camera & media players. Most images need to be resized to be sent to other phones because they are too big. Great connectivity with computers. Great customization support, download your themes online at the mobile9 website. BRILLIANT converter application!

Very useful. I don't use many of the advanced call features cause I tend 2 text rather than call. Should come with a bigger memory card so that the camera quality can be fully utilised along with storing more multimedia. Battery is a poor compared to my old phone (3200) - it takes a couple charge cycles to right itself & maximise the battery capacity (instructions point that out) but constant use of the camera burns the battery quickly.

I just upgraded to the Nokia 6288 from the LG U8138. I miss the large fonts & large clock. I stopped wearing a watch & had the front screen a nice large clock. The Nokia's is minuscule. The calculator in no where as user friendly. The whole menu isn't as easy to get around either. Great camera & the radio works reasonably well. Best part is it was free with plan that is cheaper than I was paying.

I bought this new phone last week. Applications & features are very use of friendly. Only weakness is battery. Once charged fully, can be used only one day. Checked with ppl using same phone. They also suffering of this. If using camera, music player or playing a game, can not use even half day. It's not a battery fault. Its design fault. Wrote to Nokia support center, no positive feedback. If keeping alone also can not use battery more than 48hours, but real spec is Talk time 4.5hr & stand by time up to 260hrs.

Here network strength also full. But Nokia says that because of network. What a joke. So how my earlier 6610 can use 7days a charge. Think twice before buy for you.

To the 'Sony Ericsson Guy' asking what phone is better, the Nokia 6288 or Sony Ericsson K610i. Both phone models have their ups & downs.

6288 - Has more connectivity options (aka infra-red, which is absent in the K610i).
- Has an FM Radio, which is also absent in the K610i.
- Has a camera light, also absent in the K610i.

K610i - Is a slightly more compact design.
- All I can say is it has classic Sony Ericsson style, but nothing the 6288 doesn't have feature wise.

In my opinion, the K610i is more compact, but the 6288 has more features.

The 6280 has been replaced already! & this time, Nokia have improved. I think the main difference is that instead of a 64MB memory card with the 6280, this time around, the 6288 comes with a very large 512MB memory card! Apart from that, the 6288 is basically the same as the 6280. Just some minor physical changes in design, but weight & dimensions remain the same for both.

But so far my Nokia 6288 has been fantastic, good call clarity, good camera, heaps of features that are both great & functional. My only issue would be with the buttons, & its a minor one. I am talking about the numbered buttons not the ones on the face they are fine, but the numbered buttons are a little stiff. If you're happy with the phone being a bit of a brick, then I say buy it. At least a 9.5/10 from me.
