Bought mine 6 months ago off eBay, the only snag I've had has been the battery cover except for that its been happy days, the camera is top notch & the music is loud.
Web browsing is very fast, buttons are a bit squeaky but thats OK by me, I very much like this Smartphone.

Have had 2 on eighteen month contract from O2. My wife & I both use them purely socially, in her case very very basic, only for calls & the occasional text. It performs these tasks very competently.
I use the full features calls, texts, Pictures, Music, Internet, GPS, etc.
Coverage I guess about 95%, lost Internet & calls on the M62 Yorkshire side for about 10 miles. In London the GPS could not work fast enough even in the slow traffic there. Had all the bells & whistles, voice guide, & traffic info from Ovi. Was able to download Maps for New Zealand which was impressive & cost reasonable for when we were there.
Had to get my first phone exchanged as the volume switch on the side stopped working, this has also happened on my wife's which I am not bothering to change as she has not noticed.
Like one of you other reviewers I also have had issue with the buttons when writing a text & using the browser, finding myself back looking at the wallpaper photo, because I had accidently hit the cancel button. I suppose in summary I like this model, my previous was a Nokia N95, which had wireless, which I miss & if & when I can upgrade will look to have this feature in any new phone. The phone is light, compact & easy to use apart from the issues stated it has done most of what I needed.

BAD IDEA! I've had this phone for 11 months & I am on an 18 month contract. The phone has been in repair 3 times. After the first week of having it I knew I had made a very bad mistake! About the 8th day of having it three of the buttons had fallen off so had to be sent away for a replacement. Next to go was the screen. A small drop caused the screen to crack so that was another repair job. The only good thing about it is the music. The phone is quite loud so it's good for belting out your tunes :D personally it's the worst phone I have had! Don't BUY! WASTE OF MONEY! Had many Nokia's & been very pleased with them. But not this one. Shame on you Nokia. Shame on you!

I am having a lot of trouble with the battery on this. It's now been replaced with a new one but the battery problems is the same. Don't know what to do next, it's still less than 1 year old. On 3 network. Any suggestions?

On the whole I think this is a good phone. However I have a few issues:
- the battery cover broke within weeks of having it & now keeps falling off.
- the phone keeps crashing & I have to take the battery out & then put it in again before it will work.
- the phone is very cheap & plastic looking.
Out of all the Nokia's I've had, this is the worst. I've always loved Nokia's but not sure I'd have one again after this. The quality doesn't seem as good as previous models.

This is without doubt the worst Nokia I have ever had. It has every problem known to mankind (way too many to list) with a battery that would have trouble running your watch for 24 hours. Just don't touch it! I have endured this thing for a year, had it fixed & replaced. Thank goodness it's time for a free upgrade.

I had this phone on an 18 month contract & never had any issues with it freezing & over heating etc. Really liked it when I first got it but once you get the feel for the phone & start texting a bit quicker it can all go pear shaped very quickly. The clear button is slightly raised above the end button & the amount of times I was kicked out of writing a text became unbearable. You have to be really careful & let's face it, once you get used to your phone it doesn't really work like that. After a while the buttons became a bit less responsive as well.
Overall all though the phone was OK but the few issues I had with it were with the main functions I used.
The software worked really quickly & I used it as a sat nav on a few occasions & had no issues with it.
The camera on this phone was fantastic & is probably its best feature. Good lens & flash & very good clarity.

I am now on my 3rd 6220 Classic the first 2 have been replaced,1 due to keyboard failure twice & second one due to it switching off & not switching back on again.
I really liked this phone when I got it but soon got disillusioned when the keyboard packed up after just a week O2 promptly repaired it & it was business as usual until it reocurred. I was then given a brand new phone the problem is that the battery only lasts for between 6 & 8 hours which is very impractical have tried a new battery to no avail, can't really understand why, have tried to contact Nokia via computer helpline but the cartoon character does not understand my question!
Roll on March 2010 when I can have a new phone probably a BlackBerry or iPhone but one thing's certain it won't be a Nokia!

I was well impressed with the features it claims to have, only if they work. I have had this phone repaired 5 times, & have been given a replacement but still have different issues everytime! As I am with 02 they have offered me a alternative new phone.
- the camera stopped working.
- the battery over heated.
- the keypad froze.
- the text & MMS would not go, internal error.
- the phone would switch off.
- the light would switch off in the video while recording.
- the camera would not operate when you needed it, I had to switch the phone on & off!
Apart from that the battery life is really low compared to my Sony K800i which is 3 years old!

Very nice phone except for 3 things.
- the keypad is uncomfortable.
- the buttons feel wobbly.
- the camera is of poor quality, many times what you capture looks nice on the phone screen but on the PC it is out of focus & there is a lot of noise in the pictures while the edges looks very rough when compared to a 2MP normal digital camera. Lastly the battery life in Dual mode is very poor.
I bought this phone especially for the camera but I am VERY disappointed in the camera image quality!

I got this phone as a replacement for a Nokia 6500 Slide but wish I hadn't. It's just so slow & difficult to use for everyday tasks like accessing the calendar, which on the 6500 Slide you could do with one button push. The same goes for writing a text message. Not user friendly at all.

Can't urge people enough not to buy this phone! I have it on contract & have hated it since day 1. The keypad is too small, I am forever pressing the wrong keys! It freezes mid text & the battery life is poor.
The keypad in general seems faulty & the whole left hand side of the phone won't work at times. 02 say it's been damaged with water so will not repair it? It's never been near any water!
For me it has too many fussy features so today I am off to buy a Nokia 2330! Reviews for that one seem much better.

Excellent phone only let down by the poor battery performance not as good as Nokia advertise. If used as sat nav battery lasts no time at all. You have to charge it up every night to get the best out of it.

I was so looking forward to receiving this handset, but soon this was over. Interface very complicated, & the cheap plastic front is very bad, it's hard to push buttons. It takes about 5 seconds to open a folder. The camera doesn't feel like 5mpx, bland colours & not very good flash. Am struggling to say something good about this phone, hmm maybe it looks good on screen but very disappointed when in hand. Anyway am exchanging for Sony Ericsson C510i which is simple & durable. Best phone ever is Nokia 6500slide, shame Nokia couldn't keep it up. Good luck with phone hunting as these days this is proving to be an enormous task.

I was extremely wary about buying this phone after reading all the negative comments about it, but I believe many of them to be extremely unjust! True, the phone may feel a bit plasticy, but my keypad doesn't creak, & I think the plastic finish makes it sophisticated & keeps the weight of it to a minimum.
My signal is always great, but I can't thank the phone for this, that would be my operators doing.
Like others, my keypad did actually fall out, but that was because I dropped the phone down the stairs accidentally, & overall I was pleased with the fact that it just slotted back into place, & has not removed itself again. The phone is still in full working order, which is good for such a clumsy person like me.
The only minor complaints I have are the lack of graphical smiley's, but I am not too fussed about this. & I was also disappointed that there was no recently used list whilst sending a text, but I soon got around this & became used to searching manually for a contact. Both of these are tiny, picky problems that aren't particularly significant.
Overall, this is a great phone, with many, many excellent applications built in. Those complaining about a lack of WiFi, why bother buying a phone without it, if you're so bothered about it? Next time buy a phone with it included & stop complaining!
Well done Nokia, another quality phone, I'd definitely recommend it :).

I was really nervous about getting this phone because it has some bad reviews but it's a great phone & I would recommend it. The back is comfy in your hand & I have had no problems with getting it on & off. The phone is plastic but that makes it light & I don't think it feels flimsy.
A lot of people have complained that contacts names don't come up when they ring. I had this problem but all you need is a SIM card upgrade. Orange sent me a text & it was sorted. It's nothing to do with the phone. Also a lot of people complained about signal quality but that's also got nothing to do with the phone, that to do with network coverage.
The camera is really good. I read the manual when I was waiting for the phone to charge & I've had no problems with any of the features & I've never had to refer back to the manual.
I need to charge it every other day & that's the only bad point I've found.

Thought the guy was joking when he said that you wouldn't be able to hear or feel the vibration even if it was on a wooden table, but he's not. Apart from this (& perhaps could have done with Wi-Fi), a great phone. I like the plastic, means the phone is really light. I don't find the keys creaky, I'd say more satisfying to press.

First impression very light. Having read several comments about the rear cover I was very gentle with it. No problems.
There several other problems that people have mentioned above, all I can say is read the manual. If you're used to the normal Nokia software, it takes some getting used to. Most things can be tweaked to how you want them.
Keys are a bit creaky at first, but otherwise OK. I've gone from an E51 to this phone. Some may say that's a step backwards, I'd say it's on a par. The only thing this phone is lacking is WiFi & recently used contacts for messages etc.
Perhaps if you could use the camera in portrait mode it would be better.
But overall I am really impressed, & look hope it's as good as my last 2 Nokia's (6233 & E51).

The Nokia 6220 Classic is a very feature rich phone. I had the N82 before, but wanted something a bit smaller but without giving up on the features.
The assembly quality of my phone is really good, but the plastic is not the best quality. I will say though, that I like the feel of the back cover.
The camera is not quite as good as my N82, but still miles ahead of every other phone I've had, got to love the xenon flash.

I spent a lot of time thinking what phone to buy as my last phone was a Nokia 6500 slide (a piece of junk) anyway I was talked into getting the Nokia 6220 classic by a man in the trade who told me this is one of the best phone with no known problems. The build quality is a bit plasticy but so far so good.
Good points are, great camera, very easy to use, very light, good battery life, quick charge, good price, great maps. But the best thing is when your phone rings a voice tells you who it is.
Would I recommend this phone? YES.
WELL DONE Nokia, if you like to pose then don't buy this phone, but if like most people you like things to work properly then this is the one for you.

In my opinion one of the best phone's I've ever had. My only grumbles are.
- Keyboard is a little cramped, but on the plus side this means I get a nice big screen & a phone sized phone (not a house brick).
- Plasticy, on the plus side this also means it's very light weight.
- Battery life is short when everything's working. I tend to use a Bluetooth GPS as this seems more energy efficient (the external GPS has a 24hr battery life) when out walking.
Otherwise no complaints. Calendar & to do lists excellent for work, third accelerated games, excellent quality Internet streaming audio & access to Nokia sports tracker for play, what's there to whine about?

I chose this phone because I've had Nokia's since the beginning & have normally been quite happy with their ease of features, but I suppose because this phone has a lot to
offer, that I doubt I'll end up using half of, I am very much missing things like the texting features like, recently used & graphical smiley's etc. I also miss seeing the days notes at the bottom of the calendar. I am quite annoyed with the fact that if there's a miss call or message that I have to manually keep looking, I haven't taken to the flashing navigation indicator at all. I just feel that all of these simple features I have grumbled about which I have come to know so well with Nokia could have been incorporated in this phone without interfering too much with all its other features of which I haven't even started to investigate yet. Watch this space, I hope I won't be throwing it out of the window just yet LOL.

At first, this phone look good & wows you. But once you have it for a while you start to realise that it should be much better. Firstly the design & look of the phone is good but it lacks quality. For such an advanced phone it is too plasticy & the buttons are noisy.
Secondly, the applications overly complicated for no reason. It seems like Nokia have tried to cram loads of features into this phone but didn't put much thought into how they work. They are all too long winded & when they don't need to be. The 6300 format of applications is much simpler & quicker to use. However, screen resolution is very good for watching videos & the battery life is very good. It is just spoiled by poor finish & usability.

Awful. This is a cheap, nastily made phone with a creaking keyboard that is terrible. In use, it's extremely frustrating to find keys not registering & then submitting double entries. There is an annoying curve to the keys at the bottom of the phone which hinder entry further.
I've only had it for four months, & 3 supplied it with the tariff, but I am going to buy something else to get away from this.

The 6220 classic is quite a good phone, I have had one for a while now, I think some of the reviews here are a bit unfair. I have never had any troubles with my handset, the buttons have never fallen off, signal is great often full 3G signal, my buttons don't creak etc.
It's also a very stable phone I have owned the N95 & the N96 & at release they were full of bugs, when I picked up the 6220 classic it was pretty stable granted it was several months after release so it was bound to have a OK'ish firmware on it
It shares the same OS as the N96 which is feature pack too, it is a more polished version of the N95 interface & I liked it a lot.
I found the phone to be packed with features for a mid range phone & they all performed well, I have marked features down a bit as obviously its missing Wi-Fi & a built in er a Smartphone.
However the GPS works great with Garmin v4.2.20 & signal never dropped under normal conditions the screen could be a bit bigger but that would increase the size & it's nice to have all these features in a tidy light package.
The handset does have a very plastic feel & it might not be to everyone's tastes, however it is light because of the materials used, I would have liked to off seen some metal or higher end materials but again it would have pushed the price up & that's not what Nokia wanted.
The camera is very good for a camera phone, it isn't quite N82 standards but it's pretty close & I was impressed with the xenon flash I wish it was standard on more devices.
The camera lens cover although nice to see could have been implemented better it feels weak & they should have stuck with the N82 cover that worked very well indeed this one feels like it could break after a lot of use or become loose.
The 2.5mm jack lets the phone down terribly you see I have to use a adapter to use my headphones & that isn't great, however it's not the end of the world, it would have been nice to get one in the box though, apart from the 2.5mm jack the music side of things is very good through headphones but it does only have a mono loudspeaker.
The loudspeaker is quite clear for voice calls but don't expect anything to great from music playback through it all though it does do the job.
Bluetooth worked well & paired with everything I threw at it, when paired it was stable.
Voice calls & video calls were of a good quality as expected from a Nokia.
If you can't get signal I suggest it's the operator & not the handset as this handset fly's when connected to 3G the download speeds are great & I always well most of the time have nearly full 3G signal.
Likewise if you have a lot of bugs on the handset I suggest it's your operator messing with Nokia's own generic firmware to add their branding to it, phone company's sell phones & packages they don't make firmware so the result is Vodafone, Orange, three, T mobile & virgin ruining perfectly good phones with their rubbish firmware O2 aren't too bad but the ones mentioned can be dreadful for it.
If your phone is branded I suggest un branding it & seeing the difference in the way the handset performs.
Anyways to sum it up they could have added Wi-Fi, they could have used more expensive materials, they could have added a slightly bigger screen but this would add more cost to a product Nokia were aiming at the mid range price bracket which it does extremely well in, you'd be hard pushed to find a phone that does as much as this as well as this for the price of this handset :-).
It's not the best but in its league of mid range handsets its well up there id happily recommend it.
If you have money to spend the N96 is a good phone on v12 & the N85 is also a top phone as is the N82 which is getting harder to find now & also obviously the n95 running v21 or above.
Hope this helped someone, have a great weekend.

Orange persuaded me to upgrade to this phone from my old & trusty 2 year old Sony Ericsson P990i. On the face of it the 6220 has a great specification BUT it simply does not deliver. The only good thing is the camera & the fast Internet. What's wrong with it? Just about everything!
Build quality is rubbish, I can't see it lasting 2 months yet alone 2 years. The back cover is atrocious, so difficult get off & on without the danger of breaking it.
The keyboard is awful, unless you're a 10 year old with tiny fingers! Navigation is a pain! Voice recognition is pathetic. For example, each time I try to call office it tries to dial police.
The organiser does not store in the correct alphabetical order & does not display the caller ID just the number.
I can't identify the symbols at the top unless I have reading glasses on, even with the font set to large (although it is a nice screen)
Not easy to follow the Sat Nav when driving as the screen is too small.
The worst thing is that although it interfaces with my Audi A4 (also BMW & Mercedes) via Bluetooth, it does not download the phone book so it would be dangerous to use it on the move (& I am on the move a lot! ) My P990 is a dream to use in the car but this, urghh!
In summary then, it's going back. It does not do what it says on the tin. Much promise but poor delivery. If you want to use this for business, forget it. I am going over to Blackberry. This is my first Nokia & it will be my last I am afraid.

A great phone with some excellent features described amply in the above review. I have just two gripes. The rear cover is a pain to re insert. Its two tiny pins have to be carefully inserted into narrow grooves, chances are that an unwary user will bend & break them easily. The second is the somewhat creaky keypad which looks quite cheap compared to the very classy features of the otherwise excellent phone. I would say, it's the best value for a fairly priced mobile.

The 6220 classic has a very nice design! But there is massive down side to it! The so called 5 megapixel camera is awful the camera is very bad I wouldn't even class it as a 1.3! It's awful.
But then the sound quality it brilliant, it's not tinny & quiet. It's good for music.
For my use for it, well I want a phone for camera & this has not got it! Want it for music get it!
But overall, I rate it.
- 65% Design.
- 40% Features.
- 15% Usability.
But 100% for music.

Hi, I have not purchased that phone but my uncle got it last week, the phone looks not really good but its fine & the typical Nokia type, any way I checked the phone & find it good but the built quality is not really good, keypad is alright but not really good, camera quality is pretty good. Any way I am just thinking which phone I should have now because I am upgrading now, I think I'll go for c905, any way if you like Nokia then it's good for you may be, my uncle like Nokia so he even don't consider any other phone,
but I think you should give a try to others as well, & that is what I am going to do.

Good phone but back cover didn't fit properly & kept coming off. After reading other users comments on other threads, took back cover off & at the bottom corners are two pin like plastic protrusions which fit into two grooves on the main body (tongue & groove type). These had been bent so I tried to straighten them carefully. One side's plastic bit broke & fell off & other side straightened. I aligned the back cover carefully so the remaining pin fitted into the groove & slid it on. Perfect fit now but only held in position by one side.

WOW. I LOVE IT. A BIT UGLY looking IN PHOTOS BUT UP CLOSE IT SO SMART & CLASSY. LOADS OF FEATURES BUT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR HALF OF THEM SO SOME OF THEM ARE POINTLESS & SOME don't REALLY WORK. IT'S A RATHER CONFUSING PHONE TO WORK ESPECIALLY AS IT MY FIRST Nokia BUT ITS A BETTER IMPROVEMENT ON the Sony Ericsson W910I. VIBRATION IS WEAK & I am ON the NETWORK 3 & SIGNAL IS ALWAYS RUBBISH & the NETWORK IS ALWAYS DOWN BUT GREAT FOR SURFING the WEB.
WOULD HAVE THOUGHT the CAMERA WOULD HAVE HAD MORE FEATURES BUT OVERALL A REALLY NICE PHONE :-).

Terrible phone. Loads of features, but what's the point in them if half of them don't work properly?
Let's start with the keypad. Why are there two extra buttons cramped between the 4 soft keys? Half the time your fingers end up pressing them & you either have to hastily tell the phone that you don't want to delete a contact or you just end up cancelling your message instead of deleting a letter because they've changed the layout.
Next up is the vibration. Seriously, could they have made this any weaker? Even if it's sitting on a wooden table you won't hear it.
Missed call or text message alerts are also useless. On my previous Nokia the status light would flash every 30 seconds or so to tell me know I missed something. This one doesn't, so I end up having to check my phone manually just to make sure.
The navigation screen is laggy, half the time you press a button & then have to press it again because you're not sure if you really did or if it's just being slow. Also, for some strange reason, the icons will increase in size for no reason whatsoever. Fiddling around with the menus will restore their size temporarily.
The GPS is a load of rubbish. The only way to get it to lock on is to use the AGPS which costs money, & even then it's not very accurate.
I gave up on the Bluetooth. From now on I just take the memory stick out of the phone & plug it into the computer. It's much easier.
The camera's OK, but, since it's a mobile phone camera, it'll always look worse than a dedicated camera with the same Megapixels.
& finally, there's the battery life. It's a joke. You'll be recharging it every day.
So, in short, don't bother.

If you are upgrading (as I was from the 6301) then this phone takes a lot of getting used to. The button configuration is not what you have previously had from Nokia, although you can change it, it will take you years to work out how!
This is a great phone, packed with many features, & that can be the problem if you want the basics. Each menu has about four different sub menu's, making personalising a long & arduous task. I struggled to send text quickly, even to select the right contact, nearly deleting contacts if you have gotten into the habit of using the same buttons on the less recent Nokia's.
Voice recognition is dire on this model, even when you tweek the settings, it fails to understand basic contact names & for those using hands free, it is maddening! I sent mine back. & have a 6301 on its way again. Awesome camera though, the only feature I will miss. My verdict, good for those who want to spend ages messing around with the phone before using it!

I've had this phone since Saturday & I have to say I am loving it! I used to have the Nokia 6110 Navigator which was stolen & the insurance company do not stock them anymore, so had to choose between the N95 (not the 8GB! ), N82 or this one. I had a look at a lot of reviews online & all the info out there was pretty mixed. It was either loved or hated! I was very confused, but decided to branch out & check the new 6220 out (the N95 & N82 are much older phones).
This phone is not dissimilar from my previous phone. As all smart phones, it is like a mini computer. If you are not familiar with these kind of phones, then you need to read the manual & get used to the new system it runs on. Once you do, you will love this phone! (& others like it). The phone itself, feels good & comfortable on the hand, the keys are easy to use & it all feels solid.
The Menus are easy to use. It does have a lot of stuff, so until I become familiar with it, it does take longer to find things BUT that happens, kind of like when everyone upgraded from XP to Vista! Long gone are the days when you could pick up a mobile phone & use it. As they have become more complex, it is a good idea to familiarise yourself with the manual!
The camera is great. Again, still getting used to all the features & have missed photos opportunities because of it, but am learning! The results from the photos that I have taken are great! I won't be needing to update my camera for a long long time now.
I have connected my laptop to the Nokia 6220 classic via Bluetooth, using the PC Suite for this model. It's great, easy to use & quick connection also.
For those people that can't close the back of the phone, it is tricky but that's because it is not like other Nokia's. You need to have aligned the back cover with the phone so it sits flush & with about 5mm from closing. You then slide up whilst at the same time holding the top bit of the cover flush to the phone on the top.
The reason I gave the phone only 95% in the features section is because it could have done with having Wi-Fi & free navigation software (like the Nokia 6110 navigator).
All in all, I am loving the new phone & would highly recommend it.

The back cover of the phone does not fit. I got this as an upgrade from 3 mobile. Sent the first one back & received a swap. Same problem, the back does not fit. 3 mobile are refusing to change it. Are now trying to charge me £29.99 to repair what was supplied to me as a phone unsuitable for the purpose for which it was bought. Awaiting its return from their repairer so that I can box it up & send it back. Will never deal with 3 mobile again either.

I hate this phone, it is awful to use.
- Sometimes it tells me I have a message at the bottom of my screen, others it just puts a silly tiny envelope at the top corner, I've had several messages in a day & not realised I had any.
- Even though my contacts numbers are stored as their names, when they call me it only shows their number?
- Alarm, Bluetooth icons at the top of the screen are too small you need a magnifying glass to see them!
- When you go through your images it comes out then goes back in to the next after twirling it round, at 1st it looked quite good, now it's annoying & takes too long to look through pictures.
Only thing that is decent is the camera & quality of the pictures. Bring back my Samsung!

This is the worse Nokia phone I have ever had.
The phone keypad is useless, half the time it does not lock when you press the keys. If knocked slightly in handbag it freezes, the only way to bring back to life is removing & replacing battery.
The guy in 3 recommended this phone, the phone, along with their network is useless. Rubbish signal. When I do get one if I use the phone I can hear myself repeat everything I am saying to the other caller.
I was told I had 14 days to change my mind & that evening I found that 3 online were doing it half the price than the 3 store so next day went in to cancel it. I was then told there is no such thing as 14 day cancellation period & the chap denied all knowledge of saying it.
I am now tied into it for 18 months & so angry. Never again! This will be the longest 18 months ever. Can't wait to go back to Vodafone & my old handset that was tons better!

I upgraded from Motorola K1. The Motorola had better quality around than this Nokia. The predictive text of Motorola better too as you do not have to type everything before suggestive words pop up & the Moto text also learned what you typed before & remember it when you are typing it again. The Keyboard was bad, low quality & the back cover won't fit. It is a very good functional phone & full of many features. It was unfortunately software in.
Disregarding, apart from the case quality, it is a very good phone if you can live with the annoying back cover. I can, so, I like it.

This is one of the worst phones I have ever used, the once intuitive Nokia interface has been ruined by an overly complex menu system. It took me over 20 minutes to figure out how to turn on auto activation after pairing the phone with my laptop. Tasks that were simple on my old Nokia are made frustratingly complex, such as setting a slide show for my wall paper, all I had to do on my old Nokia was designate a folder & put the photos in it, now I have to select each photo manually & if I want to add a new photo I have to do it all over again.
The GPS system is hopeless, even when I was outside in a fairly open area the system couldn't lock on to enough satellites to tell me where I was. I suspect that is why the system uses Assisted GPS, something I refuse to pay for. Then there is the Nokia Maps application, the adverts tell you that you can download maps for free, but they don't mention the fact that you have to buy a licence to use them or that said licence will run out.
The 6220 Classic boasts Real player, a fact you are made aware of every time you open a video file. Personally I would have kept quiet about it, because so far it hasn't been able to play anything I have given it, without stuttering or breaking up. My old 6233 played the self same files without any problems.
Also why can't Nokia use standards that are out there? Just about all digital cameras place their photos into a folder called DCIM, not the 6220 not it does things in its own way which means I can't transfer my photos to my DVD player's HDD without I put them on the computer first.
There are plenty of other things that I could mention but I would end up going on for ever, I will just say one final thing, Why can't I charge the phone with my USB cable?

I got this phone yesterday from CPW, SIM free. Have to say, the phone is nice, a little bit creeky in places, but overall feels good in the hand, decent camera & flash, decent software functions, GPS, is a breeze to lock on, have to say, the software on this phone is brilliant.
I wish I could say the same for the build quality. After sending two text messages, the keypad decided to detatch itself from the phone in the bottom left hand corner, it was about 3mm away from the phone, I had to push the keypad back into the casing of the phone before I could actually press a key. This is not the first instance of this, so many people have stated that have the same problems. Nokia have turned a handset with excellent features & camera into a phone that seems to want to fall apart in your hands.
I may have had a dodgy handset, so maybe they all aren't like the one I purchased, but please buy this handset with caution.

The truth about the 6220 (from someone who has bothered to read the instructions before complaining).
I was tempted not to buy it after reading all the bad reviews on here but I am so glad I did.
- the tacky back feels a bit sandpapery but I love this because if it was plastic or whatever it would be really slippery, & as the STAR ZERO HASH keys are right at the edge of the phone this gives grip & prevents you from dropping it. Also the plastic keys are great I think it's just personal preference. A lot of people are used to the completely flat metal keypads which I personally don't like. I like it that they click!
- I think the menu is quite hard to navigate round but it's just a matter of getting used to where things are & setting up all the things you use on the quick menu.
- There is no problem with the back of the phone at all I think people are too impatient & don't read the instructions & then bits snap off & they come on here to complain that the phone is rubbish. Well don't listen to them!
- Camera is excellent. I don't think it is slow at taking pictures but then I am quite an average person & am not used to flashy technology that makes everything else look useless in comparison.
- Battery life is completely normal, if you plug it in & fully charge it before playing with it that is. It's a good quality phone, but then I would say that as I am stuck with it for 18 months now!

Got this phone yesterday, had read reviews saying build quality & materials weren't that good, but as far as I can see, it's up to the typical high standard I've come to expect from Nokia. I feel confident it will stand up to the abuse I tend to give my phones (dust, dropping, general carelessness! )
It has the Symbian operating system, which is more complex than the standard Nokia systems, but it has to be to deal with all the features the phone has! It can be over complicated sometimes but most people should be able to get to grips with it. I used to have a N70 that was very slow to load applications but the 6220 seems to handle this with ease.
The array of features is quite amazing, it's basically a Nokia N95 bar Wi-Fi, but its half the size, half the weight & with less mechanisms to go wrong, it makes the N95 seem obsolete!
Only minus point at the moment is the keypad. The bottom row of buttons is shaped, at first it is hard to distinguish between a key & the actual shell of the phone, but again with time I think this won't be a problem. I also brought a plastic cover. Don't bother! OK it looks after the screen but it makes using the keys a nightmare!
I am very pleased with the phone & would definitely recommend it.

However it feels cheap like a 99p toy from the high street, the camera is only OK not amazing, my K810i seemed better, however main reason it's gone back is that it struggles to be a phone, the ariel is obviously badly positioned or awful quality as my signal constantly kept breaking up taking 2 or 3 attempts to make most calls. Battery performance, well if it lasts a day your lucky & that's with normal use no massive camera or Internet work. Getting a Sony Ericsson C902 sent. Bye Nokia, never again will I stray!

- Most navigation are in screen slower than compare to several other mobile phones. Takes time to come up.
- Music player is not standard way to be compared to the other m players. Difficult.

The phone is packed with absolutely fantastic features & a joy to navigate although the battery life is poor.
Even though the phone has fantastic feature you can't help but go back to the build quality especially if you're paying £249.00 SIM free. The phone is built of cheap plastic & will dint & scuff in no time. The volume toggle rattles & creaks with the rest of the phone.
I contacted the supplier & voiced my opinions & I was told that they are receiving a high percentage of returns because of the build quality.
If you paid around the £180 for a SIM free then the phone would probably be worth it. I have sent my 6220 back for a full refund & will be purchasing a Sony Ericsson C902i again.

The price isn't suitable with its look, the case is fully cheap plastic case! There's no elegant touch at all. The buttons are awful. Don't know what happened with the designer of this phone. The OS is OK but the office function isn't what I dreamed of, since I've got to buy the full version if I want to get one. The media player isn't that special, just average. It could be a fault on my phone, as I keep getting a beeping sound when making outgoing calls (data issue I think) other then that I would say it's very good. If I do have a fault on the phone, I will get another one Because its great Nice one Nokia now all Nokia need to do is stuff the same stuff into the shell of the old Nokia 6230 ( Standard out of office type phone ) & the office reps would buy them by the truck load.
All in all the 6220 looks good, with great features, pity it is missing the Wi-Fi, It's about time Nokia kicked out a high MP phone camera.
It has taken me a long time to return back to Nokia (I used to have the old Nokia 6230) that I still have & love to bits, since my old Nokia 6230 I've had around 12 phones, keeping away due to Nokia letting the side down with low MP phone camera's. It doesn't recognise all the folders I know to have on the memory card, when someone phones it's only their number that appears & not their name, you can't seem to copy pictures to any other folder than C or the memory card & then you can never find them. The keys are stupidly stiff, the lens flap is beyond cheap & will probably stick over the lens at some point in its life if not break off completely.

I went from an N73 to this & I have to say it is so much faster than the N73. The screen is on the smaller side for me, but that's also because I downsized from N73. I was after the N95 as well but went with this one because of size, price, & the camera has a zenon flash, not LED like most phones. Picture quality is great but 2MP or 5MP, it's still a mobile phone camera, so still not near a 5MP stand alone camera.

A great little device.
I received the 6220 Classic yesterday & I must admit that I am impressed. I have always just considered a mobile phone as a practical device, just needed to receive & make calls & a place to keep phone numbers.
All that is changed with the 6220 Classic. At first sight it looks like a normal mainstream mobile phone, but it is loaded with features. I still have to explore them in depth but so far they have been easy to learn & useful.
The GPS works very well. The camera is equipped with a high quality Zeiss lens which can be covered when not in use. I can read news on my favourite news site & check my email. Listen to radio & music. Record notes or interviews. The device even is able to entertain my son & when he gets bored new games can be downloaded.
The interface inherits obviously a lot from other Nokia phones & it is hard to avoid that it's sometimes hard to find a specific function buried in menus & sub menus.
One of the downsides is that you have to buy a license if you want voice assisted GPS. There is a 90 days trial but if you are regularly on the move it is a must. You can buy licenses for a week, a month or for a year & prices are varying depending on regions.

Hi John, Looks a winner. I have the Nokia 6300. Not available in UK yet. You must have an advanced model. What's the SAR rating?
I was disappointed with the 6500 classic's rating but not as bad as Sony's.

This is really very surprising me, this phone is super duper, I have bought this phone in January & I have found all of my usability in this phone, thanks Nokia.
