Well Ryan I will help you with your problem first thing you should do is to scan it for a virus because that is the most common restarting or freezing cause. The virus can also cause problems with microphones & speakers. If it isn't a virus then it must be that you bought the mobile from a bogus dealer. If you can return it to the shop, take your money & buy it from a trusted dealership.

I have owned this phone since Aug 2007. It is excellent. The call quality is good. The music player is great, awesome sound quality & great for travelling the built in speakers are more than adequate. With a 2GB card I have 26 hours of music downloaded via WMP. Access to the Internet without any problems except for speed but what do you expect from a mobile phone. Works well as a modem slow speed 115kbps but better than nothing. The camera is the only let down poor to average quality. It is a very solid phone I have dropped it a few times without any external damage though this week I discovered I can no longer send anything by Bluetooth but it still receives OK (maybe because I dropped it? ).

I really do recommend this phone mine is 8 months old & still under warranty so I will let you know more about the Bluetooth problem once it comes back to me.

Great phone, but I have some issues, every so often it will decide it's time for a restart, & just restarts when your in the middle of checking a SMS message or something, or it will decide that it won't let the microphone work anymore, so people can't here you when you or they call, until turn your phone off & back on.

Also had some trouble with voice recognition & setting up voice dialling (sort of got it to work when it doesn't decide to restart on you).

For me I hoped so much for this phone to live up to my expectations but it is a bug ridden nightmare that they don't have a fix for.

The phone locks up when using Bluetooth & all you can do is pull the battery.

The phone by itself is great with amazing features but if you use Bluetooth for car kits & such it is a nightmare.

I have had this phone for over a year & the battery life is good & no problems from the swivel base but I was having problems with the microphone not working till you do a factory settings reset (it has happened 5 times).

I hope they can fix the bugs as I won't to keep it but need my Bluetooth to work.

Hi to everyone, this mobile is beautiful, nice colour, has a nice body structure maybe a bit big for a lady to handle, if not perfect. I was looking for Samsung SGH-X830 in Cape Verde, I don't know what really happened I got myself in Nokia shop & there it was, beautiful red dress & a white body I just look at it & asked for it. Bought it & went home with it. Charged it for 8 hours since it was late I waited for the next day & to my surprise what did I see its only in Portuguese, no other languages, like French & English I was forced to returned it back to the shop, & in the house the kids just loved it & when they came back from school & found out that I send it back they were very sad not as sad as me because I just love it.& since we have to moved down to Mozambique I kept the money so that the moment I get to the South Africa airport I will buy it there. Unlucky, for me we were late, to be out from the plane so many things to carry by the time we finished with the transit custom they just say that we have less than hour to get to the embarking gate, sad but maybe I will be able to get it here in Maputo. To be followed maybe I will be lucky & I will give you a feed back.

Folks. This is the best mobile phone out there in market today! I purchased this one last week & it's the best ever phone I have purchased. Packed with all the new age features you need & it really rocks!

I am really loving its sound quality & the best part is that it doesn't slow down even with 2 GB memory inside. I was not much interested in camera when I bought this one, but it's OK. With 16m colours, the image quality is really good & the panorama feature really works.

I am a bit disappointed with the battery life. I was habitual to Nokia 6030 battery which I used to charge every 3 to 4 days. But this one I need to recharge every 2 days & when I am using Internet by connecting to laptop, I have to keep it plugged in. But this is not much if I compare the features I am getting.

All in all, I think this is the great value for money phone & I am loving it :).

Hey guys. I just want to warn you, recently bought 5700, less than a week ago & so far I am very disappointed with the battery life of the phone. I have to charge the phone every two days. I even tried not to use & listen to music & check out how long it lasts in standby mode. I just left it & saw it only lasted little over two days. I have to warn you be careful with the phone battery life. If you want to charge it like I have to now every two days be my guest & buy it.

But so far I don't recommend the phone. Even if other features are OK what is to buy if I have to charge it like this. Battery life of this phone is bad. Don't buy unless they find a solution for the battery life problem. RUBBISH BATTERY LIFE.

Dear friends, I am using this phone since last week & I specially bought this phone for GPRS via Airtel network, I thought it would give nice speed for net on PC, but it was just a silly idea to waste this much money for a GPRS modem. So guys don't go for this. For other features it's good. I suggest you to go for N70 with same range with good looks & other features.

This was the phone Nokia I purchased since the 3210. It was quite difficult to find, as most shops were not aware of the phone & this includes the likes of Carphone Warehouse & that awful retailer in most high street's called Phones4U.

Music player is good, great sound even from the standard earphones that come with the phone - even better with the music headphones from Nokia. I find one problem with the music player, the buttons are too slow & it normally takes a second or two to react when wanting to pause a file. It is even worse when trying to stop a file; it normally starts to play the track again.

Video option, tried transferring some music video files, does not work at all. Camera is okay, although the flash is very bright. Good features & there are different camera types as well. Usability is great, although it takes a few days to get used too & you find lots of shortcuts & features. Very user-friendly.

I really liked this phone, saved having to carrying an iPod & a phone, especially on the morning journeys to work while using the tubes to get to work. However, the phone has been hassle. Within three weeks, there was a problem with the mic & people would not hear me. I thought it was an issue with diverting all calls - made sure that there were no diversions & it worked. Within in a week, the same problem & took it to the local Nokia repair centre; they replaced the mic & the phone worked. I called someone the next day, they could not hear me. The phone is now been sent to Nokia & I am not sure what will happen. Only had the phone for 6 weeks & used it for less than 4.

Conclusion: Good phone, if your one works. Wish I got the N73 music edition instead.

I had the Nokia 5300 XpressMusic once & that was a great phone. But when the 5700 came up, I wanted it really bad & when I was about to buy one (actually my dad bought it for me as a gift), I was thinking that I shouldn't buy the 5700 because I read many reviews saying it's terrible & I was going to be disappointed & should have stayed with my 5300. When I finally got the phone, I realized I was wrong, & instead I was very impressed with it. Here's a breakdown of my review for the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic:

Design
Pros: Many people might think it as silly, but the twisting keypad is really very useful, economic, smart & cool. Just twist to get to the music player, camera, video player, & of course, the phone mode. In music twist mode, it provides you 3 spacious keys, namely, play/pause, fast forward/next, & rewind/previous. In camera twist mode, the keypad is facing sideways, & the music keys can be used as camera keys. The play/pause key becomes the shutter, & the ff/next & rewind/previous keys become the zoom in & zoom out keys. The music keys also become the video player keys. It has a joystick used to navigate the menus. Although I truly don't like joysticks on phones, this one is thick & has a metallic finish that doesn't dig through your thumb too much, so I am fine with this one. The centre of the phone is covered with an attractive red/black rubber matt, & the rest is covered by shiny white plastic. The memory card slot is in a convenient spot, on the right spine of the phone. The phone is also sturdy & not loose, even if it has a twisting part.

Cons: the rubber matt covering easily catches dirt as time goes, so it will be wiser to get the black one, but if you really want brighter colours, use a tough eraser to rub it off, but it won't be easy. & yes, the twist can be quite worrying & scary, but since it's not Nokia's first twisting phone, this one might have some improvement, but still.

Display
Pros: This phone is equipped with an oh-so beautiful (VERY beautiful) & large 2.2-inch QVGA LCD (yes, LCD) screen that supports up to 16.7 million colours (wow! ). The screen truly brings photos & videos to life, very amazing &, the screen's position does not bulge inwards like most phones, instead gives a flat screen appearance. Also, when the phone is turned off, the screen turns to a rich black, which is very amazing & proves that it is very colourful. It also has a remarkable light sensor to control the light of the screen depending on the brightness of your surroundings, & you can still read the text even if you're under direct sunlight.

Cons: the screen is somehow 'attractive' to smudges & fingerprints, so keep a soft cloth in handy. I don't know if the screen is also 'attractive' to scratches, but so far mine doesn't have any.

Music Player
Pros: Obviously the music player is the best among the 5700's features. In fact, I think the 5700 has the best music player of all other phones, although it still lacks some conditions. Rich crystal-clear music indeed, impressive 'Hi-Fi' ('High Fidelity' as they call it) & stereo loudspeakers. Once, when I played my music with the speakers, my sister thought I turned on the iTunes on our computer. Cool VERY cool. Can it replace your MP3 player? Absolutely. The 5700 can store up to 1, 500 songs with an optional 2GB micro SD card (the one I got came with 512MB, & actually it's already expandable up to 4GB), more of what an ordinary MP3 player can hold. The phone memory also improved from the 5300's 5MB to a fairly high 40MB. Truly a must-have for a music lover, but, if you want the small type of music player, go for the 5300 instead. I can assure you that music is better on the 5700 than the 5300.

Cons: It does have the bass, but is still quite weak, & I wished there were more volume to really maximize the stereo experience. It does have the ability to be the heart of an impromptu (sudden) party, but I think it can't handle a heavily noisy party.

Camera
Pros: I read so many reviews saying that the camera is very terrible & some even beyond terrible, & yes, I quite agree with that (but only a little), but the word 'terrible' doesn't seem to fit. The camera does a very decent job capturing high quality photos & extremely great videos rich with colours. The quality actually depends on the lighting, but the quality is not-so-good on very average lighting conditions, but this is where the flash goes in, which is very remarkable in improving the quality. But if it does have outstanding light conditions (especially outdoors), photo quality is extremely high. It does offer a high resolution for both pictures & video. It also has a neat seat of Image & Video editors, an amazing & easy-to-use panorama mode (I think it can be more than 5 photos wide), & a fun Movie Director mode. Don't push it too much, since it's just a phone & its main focus is music. If you're expecting it to replace your actual 3.3 megapixel digital camera (unfortunately once in a while, then this one's perfect.

Cons: Photo quality isn't very good indoors if you don't have enough light, & the joystick is a little hard to navigate while in the camera twist mode, but it's all about getting used to. The quality is almost the same as the 5300, only a little better. Also, I noticed something: By looking at the lens of the camera, you will know what class it is. The 5700's camera lens looks kind of 'toyish', while the 5300's looks quite complex & so does a good job even if it's only 1.3 megapixel.

Internet Browsing
Pros: With the 3G connection, you can surf the Internet & download music & videos (& many others) anywhere you go in high-speed, & you can do video calls by turning the camera lens facing you. Plus, it's also capable of GPS, but you'll have to subscribe to a satellite first.

Cons: I don't really have problems with the 3G. I heard that it doesn't support 3G in the US. So people there will have to use lower Gs or other Internet connections, but that isn't a problem to me because I don't go there (no offense there). Also with the N95's 3.5G & they say that they're already making 4G & 5G in Korea, the 5700 will lose some attention.

Using as a Phone
Pros: Of course, let us not forget, that the 5700, is also, a phone. Most cell phones are very concentrated on bringing out quality on other features that they forget about it being a phone. This one's not one of them. You can hear the one you're calling very clearly even in crowded places, & they say that I was like using a telephone. The rubber matt prevents the phone from sliding away from your hand, & feels quite 'hot' on the ear. Texting is fine.

Cons: Some people with eye problems might have problems reading the text & the letters & numbers on the keys. But you can enlarge the font size in the settings. In calls, you can hear a bit of wind noise, but doesn't make the one you're calling sound 'robotic'.

Others
The 5700 is packed with the latest Symbian Software today, thus meaning more features. But, the software isn't likely for serious people, but for people who like fun. The 2 installed games: Marble Cannon & City Bloxx, are very entertaining & quite addictive so my friends are most likely to eat up my battery. Oh, & about the battery: the battery is very good, certainly an improvement from the 5300, & charging time is only 80 minutes (according to the manual). Very good, I just can't leave the house without it.
You can download other applications thanks to the software, like SmartMovie. There is also a camera flash upgrade available for the 5700.

Overall
In my opinion, the 5700 is one of the best phones today. You can call it a perfect phone, & is near to the N95. A little flaw on the camera, though, but it is still OK. This phone is aimed for youth & not for serious people. I highly recommended to those who like fun. The twist is very useful indeed. There is a good reason to buy this phone if you already have the 5300 (but I am not forcing), if you like more entertainment. If you can't get enough of the 5700, there was news about another upcoming phone, the 5710 XpressMusic, which is told as a 'reincarnation' of the 5700 XpressMusic. I hope Nokia will not make another brilliant phone, because it will just make me crave for more! Long live Nokia! (no offense on fans of other brands) (& also don't fall for reviews that say that the 5700 is a stupid phone).

Friends, Please tell me, how it works when it use as a modem during Internet in computer using GPRS (Airtel in my case)? Is it better than N73, N70 & 6630?

Now I am using Sony Ericsson K750i- it is bad in respect to Internet in PC (because no EDGE only GPRS-10), other features is good but the operating system.

I want Nokia 5700 only for GPRS-class 32, EDGE-class 32, & 3G, looks is very bad to me- but it does not matter. So friends tell me about its EDGE & GPRS? Thanks in advance.

Well I went to the mobile store to buy Sony Ericsson W810i after all the research I had done. I was looking for a phone with better battery life & of course good loud music & a good camera. But when I went there it was a different tale the shop keeper told me, don't buy this phone (W810i) because 5700 has better battery life. Than W810i, at first I was shocked. Because in my research I saw that 5700 had talk time of 3.5 hrs & W810i double of it, but then I tested for music & screen clarity well 5700 outperformed it was just awesome. The screen was vibrant with good clarity actually the W810i is a bit grainy& the sound was just awesome it out sounded W810i.

Well I was very happy with this phone. The sound clarity is awesome & the loudness indoors is just awesome, but outdoors might be due to wind & stuff it is not so loud I mean you can't hear some 10 ft from the phone at max loudness. The camera is good but it's bad for night pictures, it is grainy. But browsing the net is an awesome experience.

Some things which I am not happy is it doesn't support download of games in.sis format from computer to mobile phone can anyone please tell me how to do it please.

The battery life is good, messaging is easy & music clarity rocks, at 12k it's an awesome 3G phone. I recommend others to buy this mobile phone.

Don't listen to what the others say some of the people are trying to stop you from buying this nice phone. I have it & its magic for the music lovers. Its display is 16 million colour TFT & got a dedicated audio chip to improve the sound quality. Hold a N70 in your hand or a N91 or a N92 in your hand & a 5700 xm on the other hand play the same MP3s in both phones & you will hear which one gives the quality sounds for sure from what I found out its the 5700 xm which does it better. So go for it, buy it you will never let it go after that. But this phone is recommended for the music lovers only it doesn't mean others can't use it LOL.

I saw one guy had entered some kind of comment on this website saying that the video quality of the phone needs to be higher I should ask you if he have at least read the phone specifications listed about it. Otherwise he will see that its video screen is almost a match with the Nokia N95 which is 16 million colour TFT. From what he has said we can understand how most of the people are buying worse phones for their money because they think they know everything about phones very well. Also I saw he had said the sound quality needs to be improved, I think he hasn't seen the thing about the dedicated music chip inside this phone anyway simply he must be thinking too much & he is mad enough to let go of a phone like this. Also someone has said this is a stupid phone & the worst phone. Simply these are the kind of people who got there hand on a worst phone in their life's & they are trying to stop you from buying a better phone because they are jealous so carefully always follow your heart you will find it. I did I found it it's the amazing 5700 xpress music.

Incomparable. This adjective is the best that I can use for this Nokia 5700 mobile phone. It met my expectations & this phone has really a lot to offer. I once thought that Nokia is so tricky that it tries to segregate the important & wonderful features of mobile phones in different phone models so as to lure more phone users to buy & update their mobile phones from time to time. However know one can find almost everything, if not all, of the important features in this phone. I highly recommend this phone, especially for music lovers like me. Thanks Nokia!
