I have had it for a year now, & it was perfect for most of it. But about 3 months ago it started to delete some of my music files & photos. Now it doesn't even switch on!

Plus it has no flash! But as a temporary phone I would recommend it!

Lovely.

Downsides first.
- the MP3's a bit thick & won't do lists.
- Call groups are limited to 20 per group.
- Data transfer's primitive, doubling up all previous info.
- It doesn't like the rain or moisture AT ALL.

Good points.
- It works. Does what it says on the tin & is a pleasing design.
- When wet, remove, sim, memory card & battery & gently warm it for a day & its fine.
- Pulling the phone jack out cuts the MP3. Good idea.
- After a standard cook, kill, cook, kill on the batteries they last forever.
- Loads of free themes available on the net.
- Not as fragile as I thought it would be.

I had this phone on contract last year & have had six replacements as they keep breaking. The first time I had no signal, then it corrupted my memory card, I had two were the screen went weird & upside down in lines, one that completely froze & could not do anything with, & the last 3 have been a combination of not making calls, won't send or receive messages & no one can hear me when I call them. Think the mouth piece has gone. At last they are changing my phone for a different model! The battery life is rubbish & so is the camera! I would not recommend this phone it's the worst Nokia I have ever had!

I bought this phone approximately 2 months ago, & overall I think it's an okay phone, although I have encountered several problems regarding it.

Firstly, the Nokia 5300 has a terrible battery life. I have been recharging it several times ones a week & it's becoming a hassle.

The design is okay, a bit wide for my liking, although the slide feature is starting to rub against the number 2 & cause a mark. This problem has happened to me & in also my friend who bought his several months ago.

Having my phone for only a few weeks, I have to admit the memory card is pretty shocking too, as I have had to delete several things due to it being full, I am outraged as I only have a few songs & deleted a lot of my messages.

The phone is alright, for those who don't intend to not use it a lot.

I think this is a really good phone, straight from opening the box I knew this would be really good phone, it's got everything you want. & the size of it is really nice, nice & small. One thing that lacks a bit is the camera quality. But overall, it's a nice little phone & it's got perfect sound quality.

I only bought this phone yesterday but I am already really impressed with it. I got have it in grey & white & it's really sleek.

When I opened the box & found a snazzy pair of headphones I was really chuffed. The sound quality is far better than I expected it to be. I thought I'd only be able to fit about 10 songs without buying an extra memory card but it can hold about 50!

The buttons are very easy to press & for the people who are complaining about how long the battery lasts for them I suggest you turn your Bluetooth off, you really don't need it on all the time.

All the features on it are really good. It has a 1.3 mega pixel camera, organizer, voice recorder, calendar & LOADS more! As for the screen, it's massive so it's very clear.

Nokia is a great make, you can always trust in them. Buy this phone!

Well, at first I was very excited to get this phone. But after a while it started to be bad.

After about 5 days of owning the phone, the sound stopped. It wouldn't ring when someone called & the alarm tone would not go off, thus making me late for work (not good) & I HADN'T even dropped it!

I was confused, whether to choose between Sony Ericsson K810i (with 3.2 Megapixels) & Nokia 5300 XpressMusic. But when I heard the audio quality of Nokia 5300, I was convinced to buy this mobile. The only thing not good about it is the camera, 1.3 Megapixels & no flash.

I loved this phone, it was brilliant & did everything it promised. I had no problems with battery life or shutting down etc. I dropped my phone a lot & it was fine until like the fifth time, even then the phone itself still worked I just couldn't get signal anywhere.

Brilliant phone, definitely recommend.

Before I bought this phone, I did research about the phone's user reviews. Lot of user reviews say good, excellent phone. Some say its poor phone. But when I first used it, I thought it is really excellent, good phone. & since I am a music lover, the music quality really excellent & great! I love the music quality! Sounds great! Very loud & clear. I am very contented. I was even shocked when I accidentally dropped my phone, still it worked fine! Just last week the water spilled on my phone! Oh my, still it worked fine! I couldn't believe this. I never regret buying this phone. But the only thing is, this dust, water particles inside the screen didn't remove. I don't know how to clean the dust & moist inside the screen. Does anybody know about this problem? Thanks.

The first thing I am going to say is that this was designed for teens & young adults. It's not going to look right if you're in a business & you've got this clamped to your ear. But that doesn't stop it being a really great phone. It's got the easy to use Nokia menu, & fits in your hand perfectly. The slide is soft & sleek, & it has a 1.3 megapixel camera. It says that on the box. Don't then buy it & go, like zoom the camera is rubbish because if you were reading, then you would have seen that it says 1.3 megapixel, not 5.

The Music Player is great with my memory card, so far I've got 3 albums on their so far, & loads of memory left! It plays really well & it is helpful having the little converter thing so you can plug a different type of headphone in as well.

I love this phone. It's great.

I have bought 2 of these phones. I only bought the 2nd one because I liked the design. Now though, I've given up, both of these broke the first one within 3 or 4 weeks. The second one lasted around 5 months. If that! I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone because my friend has made the stupid mistake I made & bought a second one once hers broke. It was the internal screen that broke, this phone was disappointing for me! Never mind? I've just bought a Samsung & it's amazingly better!

What can I say? It started off to be a great phone for me for the following reasons.

- I had music on the go without having to buy a separate MP3 player.
- Pictures were at good quality & turned out larger & much better when downloaded onto my PC.
- Buttons are very easy to press & navigation wasn't difficult either.

Basically, it was useful & great for the right reasons, until recently when it really let me down.

- the memory card kept getting corrupted for no reason & files suddenly got deleted on their own.
- It's ridiculously expensive to get a larger memory card & the existing one, as well as the actual phone memory, really didn't have as much space as I needed once more pictures, videos & text messages came in.
- the picture quality deteriorated rapidly & the camera scratches easily. Even in night mode, the quality seems to have gone worse, even when I am actually taking care of my phone & putting it in a pocket where other items can't damage it.
- the side buttons have gone slightly out of place & have become very dirty.
-the battery life is terrible, only lasting for one day from 9 to 5.

I could go on, but generally, it was a clever & interesting device from the start of release, but please do not purchase now. There are a lot better models out there that don't get worn out so easily, even if you take care of them.

It's a pathetic phone. It fails to read memory card many a times & I have to format my memory card again & again.

Messages are not send or received many times. Messages of more than one page fails to go to the person.

I had a lot of problem with the phone for one year & finally I had enough of it. So I am giving it back to the shop. It's not in a position to sell. It's an awful phone.

Hi, I wanted this phone for a while & got it for Xmas, the phone is really good, it has calendar, supports loads of music formats, & videos, the camera is quite good, & you can customize it however you like, ringtone volume & you can edit pictures that you take with the clip art, the disk you get with is has syncing, backup, printing, you can store contacts on the PC, store images & loads of other stuff, the slide design is really nice & it has a big screen which is also very useful. I would recommend this to anyone who is getting their first phone, or just getting a phone. I have had no problems with mine yet but loads of places will supply help & support for it. Anyway, all I can really say about this phone, is get it!

I love the MP3 side buttons, they are the best ever! I am really happy with my Nokia 5300. I will never get rid of it. This phone is brilliant but I have had a problem with the memory card. I bought a 1GB memory card shortly after buying it & every time I put it in the phone it tells me it is not formatted to which I reply yes when it asks if it would like to format it for me. Then I open it & it's empty. Then I go back out & try to go back into it & it says it is not formatted again. I even tried formatting it on my computer & I am starting to get really annoyed. After this I tried the original 256 MB memory card I got with the phone, to which it does the same. It's definitely something to do with the phone. Does anybody know what the problem is? I really can't get my head around it.

I bought this phone only 3 weeks ago & dust particles are trapped behind the screen, I've tried everything to clean the inside the screen & remove the dust! Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe I should pull the phone apart! It really spoils the look of the phone & I can't see what I am texting! Any ideas anyone?

I fell in love with this phone a couple of months back, didn't get it for Christmas so I was going to buy one. I've been looking around & reading reviews, but I've found that 45% of people say it's a good phone, whereas the other 55% say it's bad. I really don't know if I want this phone anymore!

I was looking to get a Sony Ericsson Walkman W580i, but my mum said all the Sony Ericsson's she's heard of have given up. I really need a new one as my Samsung D500 has given up on me, any decent suggestions?

My ideal features on a phone.

- Good quality camera.
- Loud ringtones, preferably a music phone.
- Decent memory capacity.
- Slide design.
- Not too chunky.

This is a good mobile. I bought it 6 months & 9 days ago from. In the last week the speaker started to malfunction. I looked to repair this mobile & it was not worth it to repair it because, there are two different models of speaker the circle, & the oval one. I was very disappointed from Nokia on this model because before I had several other mobiles of the brand Nokia.

This phone is great! As for all the complaints about flimsy screen, well get a phone sock or something to keep it safe in! It's easy to use, & has great sound. I love my Nokia! I have practically always had a Nokia & they have never let me down. Although if I had to point out something bad, I would say it's a tad bit chunky, but for all the extra goodies inside, it's worth it!

Love the look of this phone. I wanted the 5300 as the main criteria was to have an MP3 player which was also a phone. I have a 2GB card installed, well worthwhile.

Only criticism is & that's probably me anyway, when texting & correcting errors it keeps sending to drafts, which becomes somewhat annoying. Damn good phone, hope it lasts for years, my old Nokia 3310 did.

Okay, so I have this phone for eleven months now, & it is officially broken. The screen has cracked twice, the first time it cost me 50 Euro, but the second time I bought a new screen on eBay for less than 20 Euro. Three of the buttons don't work, the sound has gone in the recordings & today the screen went blank & won't come back on. It is not a good design, the slide is very flimsy & if it is dropped the phone can break in two. When I first got it, I thought the features were fantastic, the music player, the video recorder, etc. They are still pretty good but there are better phones out there for the same price. It is not a durable phone & won't last if you drop it occasionally, like I did. It is very user friendly though, as are all Nokia's. Overall it is a good phone, features are a bit dated, & it is quite flimsy, but if you take good care of it, it will be fine. Hope this helps.

I used quite a lot of Nokia phones before in my lifetime, I have to say that the 5300 XpressMusic is the smoothest Nokia phone I have ever used! I've used 8210, 8250, 3200, 3650, (Not QD)N GAGE, 3660, 1100, 3100, 3120, 2610, N73, N73 Music Edition, 6630 & now 5300. N73 lags like rubbish! But all the others were just fine.

But still 5300 still boasts its excellent sound quality compared to N series phones. Camera is not what I've expected, a bit blur than the 6630, too bad. But heck, it's got sporty designs, smooth sliding mechanism, crystal clear display (w810's screen looks worse!), nice speakers, a MP3 player like control which I like the most!

I really recommend it for music lovers who want to take their music with them but still can make calls & sends SMS!

I will only ever buy Nokia phones they are the best & the easiest to use. I had this phone for only about 6 months before it got stolen sadly : (.

PROS
- Nice big buttons which made SMS a breeze.
- the music player & the USB port.
- Bluetooth & the fact that you could transfer your MP3's onto it & use them as ring tones.

CONS
- No flashlight.
- Sometimes when I tried to play songs they just crashed for no reason.
- the slide is way too loose & it looks way too plastic.
- infra-red is pretty much useless its pretty much the same as Bluetooth, except that the phone you are sending data to has to be touching yours.
- No video streaming.
- the camera is rubbish.

Honestly it's an OK phone but I wouldn't waste the money there are way better Nokia phones out there seriously.

Personally, being a person who moves around a lot, I find that the simple, rugged construction works very well. It's durable more or less, & it seems to conform to my lifestyle. It's OK, but it has its fair share of problems, otherwise, it would've been a good year for me. There seems to be this problem regarding the phone where it just crashes after you open up certain playlists, I can't explain it really, it just happens every now & then. Also, there seem to be issues about message memory, well then again, I think it might have something to do with me having 2000 plus messages in my inbox (go figure for nostalgic people).

Personally, I love this phone to pieces (maybe even literally). But I don't think it's for everyone.

Excellent design on this phone. Trust me. Don't get the black one. It looks cheap. I personally have a grey one, & that looks smooth.

Nice features (for its price - 60 pounds) & for those who're complaining about battery drainage, keep it off the loudspeaker & there's really no point keeping the Bluetooth on 24/7.

Anyway, the sales package I got had a 256MB card, which I am quite satisfied with. I've put about 20 full albums on it & that's enough for me & a data cable, so you don't need a dongle.

Excellent phone overall. I'd prefer this to an N-Series any day. Quick responses are what I like from Nokia's. One of the features I admire most is the landscape full screen mode for cameras & pictures & the flash file playback. I haven't seen that on any of my phones yet, so I am pretty impressed.

Definitely recommend it & no problems so far. Even my friend doesn't complain about all these problems that I read about.

This phone is simple but it has everything I need. Music, great camera, games, organizer, & it's very easy to use. The music buttons are right on the side. It feels like an MP3 player. The screen is huge & always clear. The battery lasts forever, & it only needs to be plugged in for less than an hour to become fully charged again. I have dropped it a lot, but it still works perfectly.

The only problem that I have run into is the fact that this is my second 5300. For some reason my first one stopped working after about 8 months. T-mobile gave me the chance to switch phones when that happened, but I liked this one so much that I decided not to. Since then I haven't had a problem with it.

The Nokia 5300 is really good! I just got it today & already I am listening to my favourite music out loud (I tend not to use the headphones). The quality is amazing & I found it really easy to transfer from iTunes.

The phone itself is sleek & the slider is smooth. I have it in grey, it looks really nice.
The phone is easy to use. The back is a bit hard to get off but the man in the shop did it so I didn't have to. The only problem is the Internet doesn't work, but that probably isn't the phone's fault because my friend's Internet doesn't work either, & she's with a different a) network & b) phone.

The messaging & everything is fine. You get about 10 ringtones (though there are a few more on the included memory card). The same goes for themes & wallpapers really. I think you can download stuff from the Internet too, but of course, mine doesn't work.
The battery was surprisingly quick to charge, the man in the shop said 16 hours, the book said 3 but it actually only took 1 & a half!

Overall I'd say this phone is definitely worth it, the music player is amazing, there's an OK camera & video, a voice recorder, Bluetooth, Internet. It has all the latest gadgets all wrapped up in a stylish, easy-to-use device. 100% worth it.

Yes, the speakers will crackle if you have it too loud but this is a phone not a home stereo system! Yes, the pictures are pretty poor but what else do you expect from a 1.3MP camera?

It's a great small little gem. Fits nicely into your pocket & does everything a phone should do. I had a Nokia N70 & that was too big & very slow. This phone is one of the best I've had.

- Battery life is just too short despite all efforts in setting the phone to save energy (without using the music feature).
- You N-Series.

Aside from these two points, the camera is surprisingly good, music is great (wish they made with a 3.5 jack, supplied adapter sticks out too much, data transfer connection is fast with its HSCSD & functions are as they are suppose to be, functional. Sorry Nokia an almost success story.

The MUSIC IS GREAT BUT the CAMERA WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF IT WAS A 2MP CAMEA. TO BUY IF YOU WANT A MUSIC PHONE & DON'T MIND ABOUT the CAMERA. Got this phone on O2, Nokia gives you a 256MB micro SD card but it will be in the slot on the back of the phone (not under the battery).

Very easy phone to use, can get anywhere with the music playing (e.g. Settings) not with the camera on. The camera will be on the back not when you slide it up. If you get a call the music will stop & start again after the call has ended. The sound that comes out the speaker is the best sound I have heard from a phone from Nokia.

The bad point are: the back of the phone is hard to open. When you slide up you phone you finger touches the top of the middle button then you will have to close the camera (It can be changed), you will have to plug an enhancement for Radio. Can't listen to music when the camera is on. If you are on menu the camera button will not work so go back to the homepage then click the button.
