Nokia 5140i Review

The highly sporty Nokia 5140i is the perfect companion for all those sporty mobile phone users. The phone comes in a choice of orange, green & black coloured casing. The phone comes with a standby light so that the user can easily locate the phone when in darker environments. Had this phone six years now & no problems, ever. Tough & functional phone with no gimmicks, I can make calls & texts & that's all I need from a phone. Had recently to replace jacket for third time in six year life. Heard they stopped producing jackets for these now so bought another spare one which should see it through to ten years. Ace.

Had this mobile for almost five years now. Others may laugh at its age but when my friends' new phones have broken or need to be taken back because of some obscure fault, I am the one smugly asking 'why didn't you get a good one in the first place then you'd never need to replace it?'

It's been on numerous motorcycle journeys in freezing cold temperatures & rainy weather in my soaking Gore-Tex pockets & always works perfectly. Been dropped 100's of times, seen minus 5 on the temp gauge & up to 38 degrees on my car dash in hot weather. Numerous muddy festivals, fantastic mobile. The compass even set me in the right direction once when completely lost, hiking in the Scottish Highlands.

NB when the plastic keypad 'grill' under the keypad dislodges slightly the keys will be a nightmare to use so just take apart in seconds & reposition carefully to return to perfect performance.

Fantastic phone if you just want a phone. Bought new Samsung Extreme recently but dug out the old Nokia again & back using it. The best outdoor phone there is, now its 4 years old & still going like new. Samsung take note.

3 years & still going strong. Not replaced outer casing & I am a builder, it has survived direct dust off grinders, drops from scaffolding, water, I drop it daily. A really tough phone. Not great for features but for calling & texting it's great.

This phone is immense. I hate it but also love it, for years I have been trying to destroy it for an excuse to buy a newer phone, it has been subject to multiple degrees of punishment, water, heat but mainly heights (it really likes these). It just seems to laugh at me, I frequently drop it cursing it for its errors, & it never breaks, I seriously abuse this phone & it continues to work, battling on. If you want a phone that has no camera quality no sound record quality, has a little memory but does what a mobile phone should do, that's make calls & send messages then this is the right phone, congratulations Nokia! Also the battery life is amazing, I can honestly make the battery life last 1 week, using the lowest screen brightness setting & using all of its energy saving features.

The phone was dropped slightly & then the screen is damaged beyond repair. So much for a rugged phone it is useless!

Just accidentally put the phone through a 2 hour 90 degree wash followed by 1200 rpm spin. After letting it dry for a day the phone still works. You can't get a better rugged phone than that!

Great mobile & is proving to be very sturdy & robust. It has been dropped & bashed rather too much & although the scratching is starting to show on it, it still working perfectly good. I am a keen sports woman & this phone suits my every need. Lovely sporty little phone with some very useful features.

Love the covers for this phone they suit the sporty style & look for the 5140i. I love the orange coloured cover as it really cheers me up & brings the phone too life. The green & black coloured covers are also very attractive & a little more understated than the bright orange. Most of my spare time is spent at the track or at the gymnasium & this phones comes with me at all times & I love the fitness trainer feature. Enjoy having a radio & I wake up to my favourite station each morning. Nice phone I will give it 85 percent across the board.

Slightly disappointed with this mobile as it is advertised as a sports phone. Most of my sports activities are at the pool or outside which is not good for this mobile. The mobile has too many gaps in the casing that tend to trap the water & dust in them & this has caused me concern as it is a sports phone.

I am not sure if I will be getting the Sony Ericsson W800i walkman style or this phone. This phone is cheaper than the W800i & that is very attractive for me at the moment. I love the fitness software, radio, camera, video, MMS & flash messaging on this phone. I really like the W800i but it lacks the sports fitness software & is a bit more expensive. They are both orange which is super as that is the colour I want. I want a really bright orange sporty phone with music. I will read about both phones again & then make my final decision.

No external memory, no MP3 player, no zoom on the camera. This phone is for all the fit people out there who are very organised as well, that isn't me but my partner would love this one. She is very fit & health conscious & would like this phone in the sleek black coloured cover. I will ask her what she thinks of it before I buy it for her. Not for me but I appreciate that some of the features on this phone will attract attention from the healthier people out there.

The 5140i was the phone that I wanted to help me with my PB (personal best). The first phone I bought had some flaws in the software so it had to be returned & the replacement phone works much better. I am not exactly sure what was wrong with the first phone but it just shut down when I was in menus & generally became a pain to use. Anyway I am very pleased with the replacement phone & it looks lovely in the black cover. Using all the features & really cant complain about one thing. I feel like this is a good phone, sports tool & all in a really nice package.

I haven't got this phone but liked the sound of the review. It sounds like a really easy to use sporty little phone which would be great for my children. They must have a camera, video, radio & they are very athletic lads, so therefore this phone would be a good phone for them. I will continue to read about some other phones but this phone sounds very good so far. Really useful site.

Not really into having a sporty phone but love to watch a good game of footy on the television. My friend was on about this phone so I am pleased I have seen it & know more about it. He wanted this phone for this girlfriend & it sounds great for her requirements. Ok phone but not for me.

It looks sporty but that is were it ends for me as I am not using any for the sporty features on this phone through choice. I liked the look & feel of the phone so purchased it. I like using the camera & I am having lots of fun with the photo editing features on the phone. I have used the video record but only a few times. My phone is mainly used for phoning, texting & MMS. It works very well & I am very happy with it. I am not a high use user but it really is a nice phone to use.
