Nokia 3220 Review

The Nokia 3220 is a very fun & fresh looking phone marketed towards the younger mobile phone users. The Nokia 3220 is designed around the ever popular Nokia 3200 mobile phone & they are both slightly funkier than the average phone. The 3220 comes full of features focused towards the younger users & it gives the phone a really fresh new feel on the familiar features. The Nokia 3220 has a built in VGA camera complete with a self timer feature & the high quality 65k colour screen with a 128 x 128 pixel display it is great for displaying those special photos & clips.

It is easy to access the XHTML internet browser & the 3220 comes complete with tri band technology which allows the user to switch between the three networks with ease.

The phone comes complete with multiplayer gaming on the new Survivor game based on the television series. The three games included are Club Pinball, Dance Delight, Phantom Spider & it is simple to download Java™ games from the Internet.

Nokia 3220 Mobile Phone Angle View

The 3220 makes it possible for the user to animate their MMS (multimedia message service) messages with cute characters & the phone comes with music lights that flash in time with the selected ringtone which is highly effective especially at night time.

The Nokia 3220 gives the user many options to personalise their mobile phone by download wallpapers & screensavers with matching colour schemes to compliment the casing they have chosen for their 3220. The phone comes with an inbox stencil which is great fun as the user can create their own cut-out covers. The Xpress-on™ grips are very comfortable & they come complete with coloured light patterns for incoming calls, SMS & caller groups.

The Xpress-on™ Fun Shell package is an optional extra which allows the user to write a text or image message & by the user moving the handset from side to side in the air, the LEDs allow the message to be shows literally in the air. The Xpress-on™ Fun Shell allows the user to create a LED banner in the air which can express how the user is feeling or express what they want to say with complete freedom.

Bought my first 3220 in November 2004. Like it so much I am buying a new one just now. Very good phone for just calling & texting. Like the lights so you can be on silent all the time.

Not a bad phone. I bought this phone about 4 years ago & still I have had no issues with it. It's been dropped so many times & is possible the most robust phone I have ever had.

I mainly bought it for the looks, as I was only 12, & I liked the flashing design. I wasn't concerned with any of the features, I was delighted at the fact it have polyphonic ring tones!

It's not until now, that I have realised just how poor this phone is (too today's standards). It has an terrible low battery life & the camera is worse than useless, it's hardly worth having it as a feature!

Back in the day, this would have been an excellent phone, but from today's standards is rubbish (putting it bluntly).

The only positive comment I would say is that phone that were produced 4 or 5 years ago always had such a long battery life. Today, phones have so many features that the battery life doesn't even last a day (literally!).

I currently have a Motorola v9, which is definitely the best phone I have ever had, but the issue, yet again, is the battery life (lasts approximately 4 or 5 days).

Overall the Nokia 3220 is not a very good phone in terms of features, but in terms of quality, reliability & design this is the phone for you!

The people at the shop looked rather bewildered when I went for the out of date 3220 in early 2007. I love this phone to bits, never want to give it up. Straightforward, pretty freaky these days, as hardly anyone still uses it, & so original. & yes, I am older user.

I got this phone in 2005, & I have to say it's pretty rubbish. The lights were just annoying after about a week, the camera is so bad it may as well not have one, & the replaceable covers thing was a bit rubbish too. The memory is awful, I can only store just over 100 messages in my inbox before I either have to delete every single one or go through deleting individual messages one by one which takes ages. I can only store 3 photos before it says the memory is full, & there is no Bluetooth or MP3 at all. Do not ever, ever buy this phone.

Bought my Nokia in 2004. The phone is OK with camera which I use most of the time. Size& weight are just right. Flashing light when you have a miss call or message is good. So far the phone is working well. Main problem with this phone is its memory. It is too small. You have to download photos now & then.

This phone is good if you want basics. AKA Phoning someone or texting them. You can take photos but not very high quality & you can't print them or send them, this is the same with videos. The videos are a much lower standard.

You however can record sounds but again, the quality is quite bad. & so are the games.

The lights, vibration & sound is optional & you can change them by MENU & SETTINGS or the GO TO icon on the left of background.

However you can crop photos, add clipart to them & group more than 2 photos together by clicking the edit button on the options of the photo gallery.

Overall, you can customise this almost UNBREAKABLE PHONE.

Best for adults who don't know the (up-to-date) features. (My mum can't text! ) & very young people who again, aren't good at using a phone. It does last a long time though. I have had mine for 3 years! :D

It's overall a good phone. I've had it over a 2 years & it's never let me down. The keypad is very nice same with the cover. The lights on the side of the phone are really useful because they flash when you have a missed call or an unread message. Also it's stayed in very good condition considering how many times I've dropped it! Sometimes the photos can be blurry. It's a shame they haven't made another one with Bluetooth, infra-red & MP3. Also it's very low memory.

Now when I am in England it's gone off the lites one of them have fallen somewhere. I can't send pics at all & the vibration has stopped working, so I am looking for a new phone to buy that is as good in quality, I have used the 3220 for a long time!

I've had this phone for roughly three years & no, it's not the best phone in the world. It doesn't have a lot of features that most people are looking for, no Bluetooth, no MP3, little memory & a low quality camera.

However, for someone that's just looking for the basics in a phone it's very good for its purpose. It's highly durable, mine having been dropped multiple times without a scratch & the battery power isn't that bad. It's quite lightweight, too, easily transportable & not bad to look at.

So basically, if you're looking for a top of the range phone with all the mod cons then the Nokia 3220 certainly isn't it, but if you're easily pleased & just want the basics then considering giving this older phone your time. It's certainly worth it.

I have had this phone for a while now. It has been dropped, scratched, smashed etc & is still working fine. However I don't really like it & wouldn't advice younger users to buy it. It is fine for people who just want a cheap phone to text & talk but if you want that little bit more it isn't for you. This phone has no Bluetooth & so when everyone is sending each other the latest hits you can't join in. You can buy USB wires for the phone but they don't work, I tried ten different ones & none worked. In the manual Nokia say this phone has infra-red but you can't set it up without the USB lead (please note you have to purchase the wire separate).

This phone has a camera which has 1 x zoom! The camera has different settings (portrait, standard photo, night mode & video). However the camera doesn't take very good pictures. You can edit your pictures on your phone but only to add text or graphics. The navigation keys are tricky & take a lot of getting used to & the side lights blind you! Nokia have obviously tried to create a genuinely good phone & failed. Needless to say I won't ever buy a phone like this again & strongly advise against it. Overall I dislike this phone & desperately want to smash it up!

Hello! My name is Lauren & I am a teenager. For Christmas 2005 my grandparents bought me a Nokia 3220. To start with it was OK. The flashy lights made envy strike in my friends but then:

- the grips fell off the sides.
- the Connectivity cables I purchased didn't work.
- Basically it didn't work so good.
- This phone has no Bluetooth (Bad), no MP3 (Bad).

I have the Nokia 3220 & it is a great phone. It has a great camera which can do maybe at least 1.5 megapixel images & a video option which records for 50 seconds. This may sound bad, but it is really useful. It records sounds of up to 5 minutes & it has amazing games, you can download games via GPRS, but this GPRS does take a while to start.

The Good things are:

- Camera
- Video
- Make-Your-Own-Cover
- Xpress™ grips
- Text messaging
- Moving backgrounds
- Colour screen
- Change Theme colours
- Extras, like Calculator, timer, stopwatch, Wallet, Alarm clocks & all the basic stuff you need.

The Bad things:

- Not much memory
- A bit slow on opening programmes
- Doesn't last very long (Battery wise) while recording videos & Images.

Well, overall the Nokia 3220 is an amazing phone with great potentials. Extra: You can buy a USB cable, Car charger, & Bluetooth headsets for this phone.

Thanks for reading my review.

It is easy to use & for £40 pounds you get a colour screen too! I love this little phone it is good for fun! I would not say it would be good for older people but I think it looks GREAT!

I bought this phone cheap for £40 with £10 credit included. I wanted a simple resistant phone for making calls, text's & diary. For me it is perfect I syn my outlook with the calendar & can be contacted. That's all I need.

I have dropped it endless amounts of times & it works fine, keys are fine & screen not damaged.

I want to upgrade now cus I really want a bigger screen & MP3. If you want a no frills phone to be contacted, then this is fine & reliable.

If you're looking for a simple, easy to operate phone that you know won't let you down then the Nokia 3320 is for you.

However if you're like me & happen to be after something a little more exciting, with a good camera, Bluetooth connectivity & lots of memory, this phone is a bit of a disappointment.

I've had this model for about 18 months now & it has never let me down. When I first purchased it, I loved it, but soon I became bored. The camera isn't that good & there is VERY little space to store photos. (In fact, mine only stores a maximum of about 15.)

If you're not bothered about features & purely want a phone for staying in touch with friends & family, this is idea. If you want that little bit more- forget it! X

What's wrong with this phone? , or what's not right with this phone? It's a great design, I love the lights & it's so easy to use. But with the lack of a good camera, MP3 or Bluetooth I feel like Nokia could re-design this better. Slightly change the design & improve usability & completely update the features. Then relaunch it, & it would do quite well.

I have had the Nokia 3220 for 9 months. It is a great little phone for someone who has never had a Mobile before. It is great to hold & easy to use. I say the phone is targeted to people under 25. It is very modern & has lots of good features! Making covers for the phone covers for the phone is great fun & the flashing screen is Brilliant!

The bad things:
After a while this phone starts to look battered. It has no Bluetooth. Even after it starts to look old & out of fashioned. My friends have got flips that are 2 years old & the look brand new! The buttons stop working & the sides peel off & the camera isn't so good in dark light even though it had got dark mode.

Over all: It's good, but old.

I really like this phone. I had it for two years when I was off in New Zealand & it lasted until I got back not long ago. The back broke off so I am having to get a new phone. BUT I am keeping this phone because it's like a really close friend. I thought it was great. Everybody in my class was jealous of the flashy lights. Used it for txtin a lot. (Believe me I txted a lot!)

Overall a really handy phone. Not the flashest of models but it looks rather cute! LOL

I have this phone for the last 7 months now & I was so excited at the beginning but now am getting discouraged. I don't find much problem with the make, only that the side grip peels off & it makes the phone really ugly & you really don't like it. As many have said, I really never got to download the photos nor the video since I could not get the connecting cable, & the ones I got it never worked. & each time I now switch on the phone it says connectivity error. Apart from this, I think the phone is serving its purpose of calling & messaging.

The unit have is durable, drop it a couple of times & its still OK. Good for calling & texting, other than that don't expect too much. If you want extra features buy a high end phone. But this one serves its purpose call & text. Camera & video is mediocre.

Easy to find when it rings due to the loud volume & lights which is excellent in a noisy environment.

Good value for the price, Tesco, except:

- Menu is obstructive
- Very poor internal memory - Was too easy to link to the web by accident, until.
- When the cache was cleared, it wiped off everything!
- After 6 months the power switch failed, no receipt, so no repair, so it went under the hammer

I've had this phone for 2 years. It only started giving up on me after a year & a half. It's a great design- especially if you text a lot. The cameras nothing special, & there isn't much memory, for text mssgs as well as storing video clips, photos & voice clips. My lights still flash when the phones switched off when it rings- which is slightly worrying.

But oh well. I am thinking of changing from a Nokia to a Samsung currently, just not sure what sort of phone to go to. Just want a good camera. Any tips?

Hmmm, had this phone for a while. & its pretty good, won't smash at the first drop & actually, I drop mine loads & it's survived every time. The camera is OK, 7 out of 10 photos are good. But ridiculously bad recordings but it's definitely worth the 40 or so quid it's at the moment!

Well this phone is OK but if you're like me & like all the memory space don't get it.

These are the bad features
- you can only save 14 pictures
- the middle bottom can be tricky
- the sound isn't great
- the rubber buttons at the side all melt off
- loud ringing

The good points
- great design
- you can make your own covers
- you can record 4 7 mins but not great sound
- OK pictures

It's got a good design too it & the flashing colours are always fun & a good way to keep a little sister occupied. The fact that you can design your own back on the phone is also good. However, the memory on the phone is very poor & it does lack many features that would improve the phone greatly. It is a good little phone, though possibly is better as a modern first phone.

Awful phone! Got it about a year ago hated it ever since, only the fact that I can't afford to get a new one has stopped me. Once the novelty of the light at the side has worn off there is nothing good about this phone. No Bluetooth, no music player no memory at all for the few videos you can take that are actually worth keeping. Its such a bad phone please don't buy it

I just love this Nokia 3220. It has a nice layout & the menu is very easy to use. Only things missing are infra-red Bluetooth, MP3. After that it is a very good phone. It is solid as a rock. The camera isn't too bad. The memory is low but better than some phones. Love the tones & the design. For the price it's one of the best phones you can get.

This phone is on my list of most favourites! When I had mine, I loved it but was disappointed at the no connectivity options, also, a radio would have been nice, but the design was perfect! The battery life on this handset is outstanding! The size & weight is also perfect. I have upgraded a lot since I had this phone & I always say to myself "why didn't I keep my little, reliable Nokia". Highly recommended.

I've recently had to part with my nokia 3220 as it was getting old, I upgraded to a Samsung D900 but believe it or not I miss my little nokia a lot. The flashy lights were amazing. The video was also quite good. I agree the photo quality was disappointing. Altho better than some people have said. The keypad was easy, menu was simple to navigate. All in all it was a perfect phone,

One problem, the case broke & ended up hanging off...but I still loved my nokia!!!

Had the Nokia 3200 & upgraded to the 3220, very young feeling phone & it is totally fun. I am no teenager, believe me, but this phone is absolutely perfect for my needs. It takes a good photo, a short clear video recording, texting is easy & the quality of the actual phone calls I make & receive are perfect. Did not opt for the Fun Shell, for waving messaging, did not feel the need for it to be honest. The 3220 is so comfortable to hold & use. It is a phone that can with hold a bit of abuse, mine has been dropped a few times already.

Camera on Nokia 3220 has been a total disappointment to me. I wanted this phone for some time & when I finally got it, found out the camera was bad & I mean so poor it isn't worth having it as an extra. Bad enough there is no radio, but I knew that before I got it. I want a Sony Ericsson W800i now.
