Nokia 3109 Classic Review
The main feature of the Nokia 3109 classic is the built in media player which allows the user to enjoy video & music playback on their mobile phone whenever the mood takes them. The media player supports all popular music & video formats including MP3, MIDI, AAC, AAC+, Enhanced AAC+, WMA music formats & MP4, H263, H264 video formats. The user can play moving video footage which has been sent to them or downloaded onto their 3109 Classic. The user can stream video in 3GPP format & the phone supports Flash Lite 2.0 for viewing Adobe Flash™ animations & video on the handset. The user can download all their favourite CD's & music files which can be enjoyed on their new mobile phone. The phone supports a selection of ringing tones including MP3, MIDI, true tones & polyphonic ringing tones.

The phone comes with a handsfree speaker phone feature which allows the user to take a call over the phones loud speakers which means the user can leave their handset resting on their desk whilst enjoying a call over the speaker system. The handsfree call is a great way to communicate when the user is busy or is finding it hard to hold their handset to their ear during long calls. The Nokia 3109 Classic supports push to talk which is a walkie talkie type call feature which allows the user to talk to others whilst holding down the push to talk key, but on releasing the key the user can hear their contact talking back. The phone comes with a user guide to help get the user started, a nosier battery & a compact charger. The user can access the demo mode on their new handset without having a SIM card installed. The phone has an offline mode which switches off all the phones transmitted related features & activities. The offline mode allows the user to access a selection of features on their phone when in restricted mobile phone areas such as in a hospitals or onboard a plane. The user can keep them self organised with a built in organiser complete with a calendar. The user can store all their contacts details & numbers in the phone book feature which is accessible from the main menu. The phone comes with a to do list features & a notes section which is ideal for those little reminders. The user can keep track of time easily as the 3109 Classic comes with a clock feature as well as an alarm clock & a countdown timer.
The Nokia 3109 Classic comes with 32 Mbytes of internal Flash memory & with 16 Mbytes of RAM. The user can expand the phones memory further by adding a MicroSD™ type memory card which is a small memory card which can be inserted & removed easily. The user can connect their phone to other devices using either a mini USB cable, infra red connection or Bluetooth® wireless connectivity. The mini USB connection requires a wired connection whereas the infra red & Bluetooth® connection do not require a wire. The Bluetooth® connection allows the user to gain a connection with other Bluetooth® compatible devices which are up to ten metres apart from the Nokia 3109 Classic. The phone supports EDGE technology which provides the user with high speed data transfers which are up to three times faster than GPRS. The battery provides up to 4 hours talk time & approximately 400 hours of standby time which is ideal from the user on the move. The phone covers GSM 900, 1800 & 1900 which is a tri band technology mobile phone & allows the user to enjoy coverage in Europe & the majority of the US which is fully dependant on the user network provider.

Just a really good phone for talking & texting. Nice feel, good screen, tactile keys. Very good battery life.

This is a lovely phone, it feels nice, is lovely to use with a bigger keypad that suits male fingers, it feels very well made, the screen is lovely too, but the battery life is absolutely rubbish, Nokia quote up to 16 days, well the only way you'd get that is if you left the phone permanently plugged in to the mains supply or had a very high capacity battery, this phone on the flight profile that can't receive a signal lasts 60 hours, & mines only 2 months old, use it on standby on an ordinary profile, you get 2 days & if you dare use the phone barely a day, which is very disappointing, but other than that, it's great.

As many have said this is a great basis phone that does all the things I want it to. I have one as a work phone & have a fixed handsfree kit installed so I purchased my own for personal use.
Yes the battery lasts ages & it is very tactile. Texting a doddle & build quality excellent. I agree get a micro SD card & your away.
Well done Nokia for still making it.

Well I bought this phone mainly for its good looks & big buttons, also because I didn't want a camera on a phone, if I want to take pictures I'll use my SLR, & also camera phones aren't permitted where I work, this phone is typical of Nokia's in that it's easy to use, looks great & texting is a dream, most phones seem to be designed for female fingers with their silly small buttons, so if you have big digits, try this it works brilliantly as well & appears very well made, although the battery life is rather poor, but you can't have everything, can you?

Could not get the speaker to work, no one can hear me when I ring.

Been a gadget freak for years always wanting the best kit available, but after having several phones where I used only a fraction of the functions I've gone full circle & got the 3109, mainly based on the reviews on here. What can I say? Does everything I want quickly & with little fuss. The menus are clear, the buttons are big & clear, Nokia's menus are simple to understand, calls are clear, texting is easy, MP3 player is more than adequate, the phone is light & stylish. It's perfect in every way.

This is quite a nice phone. The only problem is that it only supports a maximum of 2GB micro SD card. Bought mine recently.

I like the phone, it's easy to use but I spend a lot of time in the car & I am really sick of the problems I have with the Bluetooth connection to my car!
I am on my second phone & being pushed to trial a Blackberry to see if it's the phone or the car that's at fault. It's the phone!
Often it does not pick up the connection when it should pair to the car but more often it drops the connection once a call is connected. I have to kill calls every day & repair the phone to the car. Frustrating!

Great simple phone for most of your needs. The buttons are the biggest I've ever seen which makes texting a doddle if you have man sized fingers. No camera but who wants to take grainy pictures you do little with anyway, that's what my digital camera was bought for.
PS, the calculator is brilliant following on from an earlier comment, more features than ever before or just use the star key for plus & minus etc for speed.

Doesn't it look the same as the Nokia 3110 Classic & the 3110 Evolve?

I was offered the latest Samsung, smart mirror faced phone, but after one week I had slung it in the back of the drawer! Fortunately read the peace of mind refund & went back after 12 days at got a Nokia. I have been with Nokia phone for seven years, nothing will entice me away again. I do not need a camera, have a really slick one that works beautifully with my computer, I just wanted a phone I understood, Apparently Nokia patented all the features all that time ago, so I will never find a phone that suits me like it does. Sometimes you just need to stick with what you have got & enjoy! Not mad on the grey, but it's the only compromise in my view.

This phone was provided by my employer & in 2 months I am on my second one. Both myself & colleagues who have the same model are having great difficulty using the blue tooth provided. We all sound like Norman Collier when on the move! I have been told that there isn't a fixed hard wired hands free kit which is compatible either so I am reduced to communicating via speckled Jim, the pigeon.

Like the phone but the only downside is that in ext edit mode there is a very iterating dark background which makes the cursor invisible. Also finding the calculator is a trial. Otherwise not too bad but would recommend it for frequent texter's.

A replacement for the 6021 which was a rubbish mobile phone & broke after a few months. This one is much better & feels better made.

This phone is slim, light & easy to use, with nice big buttons & most things that are needed for a basic work phone (organiser, Bluetooth, good battery life). It would have been nice if it had a camera but this was provided by work so I didn't get a choice (the next model up has one, Nokia3110), as you could use it for insurance claims if you're in a car accident, I keep a cheapo digital camera in my car just in case.

This handy phone is easy to use & features a very clear screen which is a good size. The different options available on this phone are simple to use & you will quickly come to enjoy this reliable phone.
It features Bluetooth & a decent Media Player. This makes it ideal for use in the car & allows you to stay legal with a decent headset. I recommend this phone to anyone who wants a reliable phone with no silly bells & whistles.
Well Done Nokia.

Not a top of the range phone, but very slim, very smart. Will do everything 90% of users require. Glad I bought it. Easy to use. Another winner for Nokia on this mid range phone. You won't be disappointed!

Really, really good product for those who wish to get a basic, down-to-earth phone, that doesn't give you hassle. The best thing is no camera, to ensure lots & lots of speed when wanting to carry out a process. Only down side is that it is thin & slim compared to my N80 (which is atrocious), so I don't know when it's in my pocket all the time=headache!
Top phone!
