Usability is good, but the design is rubbish, the camera is rubbish, & the battery is rubbish. This is a phone designed for those amateur, not anyone who as any knowledge of them at all. I suppose just a bit too simple for me, then.

It is a good quality phone but it cannot hold a memory card, therefore it is bad for a budding photographer.

I love this phone! I use it for what a phone is supposed to do, make & receive calls, send & receive messages. A simple phone for simple things. This phone is cheap but worth a fortune to me!
It is shock prove (dropped a few times already) & so minuscule, put it in my pocket & don't notice it is there!
The Bluetooth is great for use with Nokia PC Suite! Thanks Nokia!

Well I've had the phone for 8 months & just found out how to turn the volume up, thanks to previous posts & Google. The menu system is not so good. The most essential functions on a phone are make call, end call & volume control & find number. There is no volume in menu then settings or in any of the 13 top level menus.
To do something as basic as changing the volume requires the designation of a key shortcut.
Go to menu, settings, my shortcuts, now choose a key then, designate volume from the long list of functions.
It is now possible to access the volume control through the key specified. For this silly design it can only get 5% on usability.

Perfect if you want a small phone just for calling & texting. Never had any problems with it & it has a good battery life. Can charge enough for about 6 hrs in 30 mins from very little battery. Only issue is it has a 2 second delay from pressing the button to it happening but you honestly don't notice this unless you are used to very high tech phones. The memory is very small but it is enough to hold plenty of texts, up to ten photos & one short song. I have also dropped it a number of times from about 2m up & it still works. It has been splash proof for me but I haven't fully submerged it in water to see if it is waterproof! After two years it still works perfectly, I just want to upgrade to unlimited texts & a better camera. I would recommend this to people who want something cheap & lasting to call & text on but it's not for you if you want high tech gadgetry.

The phone is cheap & has good features. But the only disappointment is that it has no memory chip & phone memory is too small. Notable features are Bluetooth, Internet & email options.

If you want a good basic phone, I'd really recommend this one. Easy to use & battery life not too bad. Shame it hasn't got a dedicated volume button though, but I have set one up as a shortcut. The camera isn't fantastic, but I bought it to use as a phone, so not that bothered.

This is my first phone & I have found it relatively pleasing. It is functional & meets my needs though it is lacking in the internet connection speed & can be slow at times. I have also had to reset it a number of times due to bad settings preventing SMS messages being sent. At times it has also failed to log sent messages. But on the whole it is a pretty good phone.

Disappointed with this phone & Nokia's customer service. Bought the phone brands new, the SMS function doesn't work at all, & changes all the text messages to MMS automatically. Seems to be a firmware problem. Reported it to Nokia customer care. No response. Gizmos & Gadgets, where I bought the phone, refuses to replace, repair or reimburse me my money, even though it is still under warranty.
Having to reset date, time, time zone every time the battery is removed, is a nuisance.
The back of the phone heats up to a point that it's uncomfortable to hold. Maybe this is attributed to its slimmer shape in comparison to other phones.
Really disappointed with the phone, the service & Nokia Customer Care.

This phone is OK, very basic. I like the fact it is so thin & will fit nicely into my pocket. Seems sturdy too as I have dropped it so many times because it is so little. It has to be said it is a very slow phone which gets a little frustrating at times. If you want a basic phone that just lets you call people & text & browse the Internet & you're on a budget I would say go for this. No thrills but does the job.

Good little lightweight phone but I am getting terrible battery life. It will discharge itself overnight & be dead in the morning. I got a replacement battery that immediately did the same thing. Doesn't look like it's a battery fault then, but what can be wrong with the phone for it to behave like this?

Good phone. Styling is very good.
When you get into the phone itself. Was very disappointed with the lack of features. Many phones for the same price do much more. Not enough memory & call quality is rubbish.
If anyone is wondering. To turn up call volume you press OK & then the up arrow.
Dust can get into this phone too easily & I have heard quite a few horror stories about things going wrong.
If I was you I would avoid this phone. Take a look at the Sony Ericsson w200i or Sagem my411x.

A great basic phone for the money & a good design.

Nice & easy phone to use & ideal as a basic phone but there is one very important flaw, unlike many of the older models of Nokia you cannot remove the cover to clean the screen. Dust builds up on the screen & behind the screen cover within days & it's a real shame because otherwise it's a cracking wee phone. The dusty screen on mine irks me so much that I going to take it back. So be warned, no matter how much you will try to keep dust out it will get in, the phone screen seems to attract it like moths to a flame! I suspect that to keep costs down Nokia thought it OK to market the phone without the normal small covers to the charger socket etc at the side of the phone & I am sure that is where the dust will be getting in.

Too many people these days want a phone with all the features, 8 megapixel cameras, lots of memory, MP3 player etc, the same amount of people (like me) want a basic phone that makes calls, texts, that's what a phone is meant to be.
The phone is a great budget handset, & can be found for between 20 to 40 pounds, & is a great little phone, yeah it may not have a great camera. Buy a digital camera. & may not have a lot of memory to store many songs. Get a MP3 player.
For what features it has, it handles well, & is a great phone for a user that just wants something without all the extras. As an owner of over 70 phones, I just love it, & I got to award it near perfect marks (minus 15% on the features)
Just buy it!

Very good phone. It's the best of the cheapest. The only bad point I see on it is that's a little slow but it's so resistant to really hard shocks (3 super hard shocks in my case) & is still alive (with all its functions at 100%), with only a very little scar in the back side. It has FM radio, camera (2:48 min time rec), games, & the best organizer I've seen in a phone for its price.
Again, the best of the cheapest.

I used to have the old Nokia which was great as it did everything I wanted it to. I use the reminders a lot & also the alarm. The alarm is okay but one can only use the alarm once in a day. The reminders are hopeless as it only rings once &, if you have the telephone in your bag one cannot hear it. Not worth having!

I would NOT recommend this phone if you want something half hardy.
Its dinky & light, but 2 days old & I dropped it (as you do) less than 1 metre, the screen went blank.
The buttons are also hard to push if you text a lot, & it is slow at reacting to commands.
Also only 10 second Pac Man trial, not cool.

I bought Nokia 2630 as I was looking for a simple phone. I found it great as for as phone is concerned, light weight, speaker phone, Bluetooth, a camera & what else you want in £19.
However, I noticed that I cannot use this phone as a webcam on Yahoo messenger. Then, that wasn't my top requirement at the time of purchasing.

After having this tucked away in case for emergency use when my main phone died, I went to use it & found the security code has been activated, not by me I hasten to add, if I need to use a phone suddenly I don't want to be bothered with codes & I cannot get into the thing! I have over 20 Euros credited to it & appear to have lost the credit & phone due to no fault of my own. Phones having minds of their own & refusing to allow owners in, is this the beginning? Hope I am alone in this problem but if anyone has a solution (it also won't accept the generated master code over ride from Nokia! ) please reply here?

I bought this phone 3 days ago. I was after a simple phone that was compact & light. This phone is definitely lightweight.
It is slower in use than I expected but the worst part is that it freezes up when I get a missed call.
I was going to take it back for exchange but reading other reviews it seems to have many reliability issues so I will get a refund instead.
I know it's cheap but if it doesn't work properly then it's useless in my opinion.

I bought this phone a couple of weeks ago. It is a good cheap phone & is good value for the money you pay. It can be a bit slow but this is not a major problem. My phone when turned takes about four attempts before allows you to type in the pin number which can be annoying if you want to quickly call someone. My phone has already got dust under the screen & rattles when you shake it. I have not dropped it much so I don't understand this. Does anyone know?

This is a great, cheap & easy to use phone. I got it in May 2008 for £50. It has about every feature you'd need, with camera, Bluetooth, games, etc. It won't let me take more than 9 seconds of video at a time, but I don't mind.
It has 11MB memory, which isn't great, but for the value of this phone, what can you expect?
The only fault, I think, is that there is no memory card slot. But if you want an easy to use phone that's cheap & with a slim, light design (also nice big buttons for texting thumbs! ), this is the phone for you.

For those negative comments in this web site, just remember that this is a mobile communication device. Seems people today want their phones to do all except walk the dog.
In every batch of mass produced phones (whatever the make & cost) there will always be a few with defective batteries, software problems etc.
This phone is a simple just above entry level Nokia that works very well. It is stylish, the battery lasts 2 to 4 days depending on use, the quality of sound for calls is OK (although not the best I have had but satisfactory), there is sufficient memory for loads of contacts & above all is extremely lightweight & slim so ideal for the pocket. It also has the advantage of large keys for big handed people not wanting to get arthritis with silly sized keys.
Does exactly what is say's it will do.

Shame as the phone is quite good for the money, fairly basic, but does most things. OK bottom line, if this was a car you wouldn't expect Rolls Royce specifications for 2CV money.
I only bought one of these phones a couple of days ago as I was away from home & a universal type charger wouldn't put a charge back on my NEC. It's cheap, cheerful & does what it says on the lid, makes & receives phone calls. As an added bonus you have a camera, BT & a radio. The only reason I haven't given it 100% on usability is becasue of a few things already mentioned.
- Not easy to find volume control (although I can hear people OK once turned up a notch or 2).
- Easy to send an unfinished text (although you can stop it if quick).
But these really are minor niggles.

I got this phone about a month ago & it worked OK. However sometimes when I turned it on it would ask me for my pin number, accept it, & turn off by itself. After two or three tries it would turn on & stay on. About two weeks later the phone decided to take a dip in the swimming pool & it obviously stopped working. I went out & bought a new one. To my surprise, the same exact turning off by itself thing is happening, except that now it won't stay on at all! Shame on Nokia!

I had to change phone because my hated 3320 got run over by a car(s). Wanted to get 2760, when I finally made it to O2 shop in Aberdeen, but they didn't have one in stock. I wasn't really prepared for another 80 mile round trip, so opted or 2630 instead. After a very thorough initial charging up, I've been using the phone for two weeks. I am not convinced the phone I was given in the shop was unused, as the plastic protection was coming off top corner almost from time it came out of the box & I found that a bit off putting. Instruction book is very poor, & there doesn't seem to be any mention of volume control. I found the volume control purely by chance, have now got it turned up all the way & still have problem hearing (especially if outside). Doesn't seem much better with hands free on, & phone close to ear. At least I know the problem is with the phone & not me, so thank you to all the people here who've criticised the volume. Don't care much for the background colour scheme, & haven't yet found a way of improving it. Sometimes find the screen difficult to see outside, & would like to be able to change contrast, brightness whatever. If anybody knows how, I'd be grateful. I don't think it is a particularly good phone, but suppose you get what you pay for!

Phone seems fine apart from I cannot text, everytime I try I get a message saying message changed to multimedia, then I try another button & a second message comes up saying messaged changed to text message, any ideas what is wrong or am I doing something that I shouldn't be doing? That's the reason I gave it such a low usability rating because I can't text anyone!

I bought my Nokia 2630 few months ago & I absolutely love it! I didn't have any problems at all! It is really cheap & for such a low price you can't expect more. There's a camera, FM radio, Bluetooth. & beautiful design! The best in Nokia! The bad thing is low memory only 11MB, & poor battery, but as I said, for this price you can't expect any more. If I want to listen to music, I have my mp4 player, & I have digital camera for taking photos. It's just a phone!
I definitely recommend it to everyone. Buy it & you won't regret! ;).

Worst phone I've ever bought.
Just bought the phone about 4 weeks ago but phone was going dead after just 2 days sometimes just 1 day.
I then returned the phone to the dealer who then sent it back to Nokia centre for testing.
I got back the phone about 4 days ago, astonishingly I have the same problem again, that is, the phone goes dead after just two days (on standby).
What is so annoying is that Nokia is either ignoring all the problems (this is not the first complaint) or doesn't seem to know how to rectify the anomalies.
Don't BUY THIS PHONE.

Having just sold my Nokia N95 8GB as I didn't use half of the features I decided to go with a cheaper phone. I found the Nokia 2630 & decided that it had all I needed. It's a good (not so) basic phone with an easy readable display (large fonts supported for the hard of reading), Bluetooth for connecting to Nokia's PC suite & my headset, useable camera for quick snaps & a very easy to use keypad with decent size keys for those with big fingers.
All in all it was £39 well spent & I have been using it for a week now with no problems whatsoever. So if you're looking for a cheap phone which doesn't look or even feel cheap then you can't go wrong with this one. I change phones often but will keep this one for some time to come, highly recommended.

I was looking for a basic model which has support for Bluetooth & has long battery life. I found Nokia 2630 super design & features.
After purchasing the phone downloaded a ringtone using Bluetooth. My extreme experience with this phone has started. As soon as there is an incoming call phone froze. If you move the downloaded file to a different folder say Images it started working fine. But then it started showing up white screen very often. Contacts assigned to shortcut keys are not getting stored till you reboot the phone.
There is a frequent call disconnect. (This is a very big surprise to me). I was under the impression that Nokia is the best at least in CALL management. But it is not so in this model.
There are tons & tons of issues I can list down in this model. I am surprised how Nokia has released this phone with so many Critical bugs in the phone software.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL.

Love my new phone, radio & voice record very useful.
Size is incredible! So tiny & so easy to carry around, & phone has taken a beating & not lost its cover or even gotten scratched after a number of falls (I am clumsy! )
Bluetooth to connect to Vista PC worked first time, & latest SW off Nokia website was easily installed, immediately synchronised the phone & backed up all my contacts.
A few niggles but nothing I would change the phone for.
- Battery life not as great as some other Nokia phones, but price we pay for the incredible lightness & thinness of the phone, which includes a smaller battery!
- Takes lots of key presses to open the message inbox.
- Not enough memory for music, why isn't there a memory card slot which would make it a SUPERB phone.
- Menu options bit spacey to find things.
- Too easy to send a half written text.
- the voice record set to 1 minute & can't be changed!

I've read a number of really negative reviews about this phone, almost to the point of deciding not to buy one. I've had 5 Nokia phones up till now & have recently been given a 2610 to use as a work phone. Less said about that, the better! It was dreadful, especially the inability to see the screen in daylight, regardless of what I did to the display contrast. Therefore, I had to get hold of another budget phone fast, as my work wasn't going to provide me with a different model & I didn't want to pay through the nose for a phone, but wanted one which did the business, without the frills. OK, I've only had it for one day but have not experienced any of the usual gripes that people have spoken of. The volume's is fine, & you can dedicate a button for call volume by going into settings & my shortcuts & assigning the key of your choice. Furthermore, I've not experienced any freezing or hanging up issues, but its early hours yet! It's unlike any other Nokia I've had, in that the back doesn't keep coming off, every time you use it, so it's not necessary to wedge a piece of paper between the battery & the cover in order to stop it slipping. I've been playing with it & using it all day & found it a breeze, it's typical of a Nokia with the easy use & accessibility. It's beautiful to look at, easy to hold & so slim that it looks a lot more sophisticated, than the ridiculously cheap price tag. I use a contract SIM, I was informed that the phone was unlocked already, although I'd have to buy £10 airtime & then go ahead & use my own SIM card, with no worries. This concerned me somewhat, but in the end, saved me having to take it somewhere in order to pay to unlock it, or having to find the code on the Internet & pay for that!
All in all, I think it's the neatest phone I've ever owned. I am not looking for thrills & spills, just for a phone to do what it says on the tin. The 2610, is a disaster in every sense of the word, but this little baby, more than fits the bill.

Then it was fine, then a week later it would not unlock again & was constantly vibrating. Took it back to 02 & had a new phone & the man in O2 shop said it was a software problem. They gave me a new phone & it was a 2630 again. Had this new phone for two weeks & yet had another problem. This time when I locked the phone. Then someone called me I could not unlock the phone again. After this call which I missed. It did not go to voicemail to let you know you missed a call. I bought this phone 3 weeks ago & threw it out two weeks ago. I bought it because it looked slim & cheap but, the fact is that it is definitely not worth the amount you pay for it.
Every time I go to look into my drafts the phone turns off, & when it turns off & I have to turn it back on then it takes at least five minutes before I can read my messages or send any. It freezes up a lot & looses reception a lot & takes a long time to get it back.
So, anyone looking to buy a sleek cheap phone that you can use for a long time, do not buy the Nokia 2630!

The slim design & the phone limited features is enough for daily use most especially if you are a heavy texter & fond of making phone calls. The tones are in MP3 format & Bluetooth function is just OK & please do not expect that it will be packed with features as what you expected for an N95!
I will strongly recommend the phone for people who just wanted to have a basic phone usage.

I have two 2630 both hang if a call is missed. Apparently this has something to do with notifications sent to the phone on the O2 pay as you go system. A very good phone. It has the easy to use Nokia Interface. Only drawback is that the memory is only 11MB & there is no external slot available. However, it is very light, I bought two to send to Pakistan. For around £40, you get some good features, VGA camera, Bluetooth, MP3 & Radio playback. It is a little slow when you first start up the phone, but afterwards it works fine.
Since it is a Nokia, you can easily unlock it for free from a website. There is a Vodafone 716 for £30, however, this will cost you £20 to £30 to unlock.
Hope this helped.

I have minor problems with Bluetooth.
- There is no Information Synchronization service, you must download & use the Nokia PC Suite to synchronize
- Even with Nokia PC Suite I could not make a full backup.
It comes with Nokia BH100 headset, which is a headache (for me). It is very difficult to switch on & on, the activity led is hidden & shows no information about the status (switched on, connected, whatever).
I had problems with setting the volume during the call (maybe I am even simpler as the phone), the solution was to use the right & left navigation keys. The up & down navigation keys activate the assigned shortcut during the call.

Great looking, slim & lightweight. The only drawback to this phone is lack of a memory card. But the internal 11MB is enough to have a handful of applications, games, & pictures. If you need to play music then get a separate MP3 player.
The features are vast for such a tiny phone, & the sound is great, actually. They keypad is surprisingly easy to find, with large buttons for those of us with big fingers, & a satisfying click when a key is pressed. Looks like the phone is built to last with its metallic & resin moulded shape.
For those people who are rating this as having low features, have you not found the menu button yet? It has calendar, calculator, voice recorder, stop watch, camera, video capture, Java games, web browser, media player, radio, messenger, Bluetooth, countdown timer, programmable alarm clock with repeating option for optional days on & off. To do, email, etc.
All on a big bright display. It CAN play MP3 files & other digital music files, too. But you can't store many, it's really only used for setting a ringtone.

Its very light weight 66 grams, makes it a breeze to carry in the pocket, & it's very this at 9mm. The buttons, while not large, allow convenient operation. The screen is very clear & a good size for this price range. The radio is clear & easy to swap from station to station. As a basic phone for making & receiving calls & texting, it is really good.

I love my Nokia 2630 & happy with it. For such a low price it won't have a memory card but I don't need a memory card because 11 mb of memory is enough for me. Without memory card I gave it a 90% but with FM Radio, Bluetooth, GPRS, Video, Camera & for being so thin, light & small in my pocket it's the best design ever by Nokia. I had worked in Oman for 12 years & in Saudi Arabia for 11 years & I had used a series of Nokia but when I saw the new Nokia 2630 Model last December. I bought it because of its amazing design. It's so thin & small with 11 Mb of memory & with features for such a low price. Best design ever by Nokia!

My friends suggested 6300 & I bought this awesome machine, now they can't believe to this telephone's great design, features & cheap price. If you've a MP3 player & camera apart like me you don't need to pay those silly expensive models, this the best you can buy. It is really a great mobile phone!

Does the Nokia 2630 have a camera & use a memory card.

Just bought this. I can't believe that a phone with WAP, GPRS & so on, doesn't have a basic function one can find in all phones since 3210, YOU CAN'T ASSIGN TONES TO CONTACTS IN the ADDRESS BOOK! This really is bad!

Bought 2630 2 weeks ago, since then friends have traded in their phones & bought 2630, even got offered a 6300 in a swap. Lovely & slim & light, for a phone under £50 this is best one you can get in my opinion.

Bought this phone for the missus. She loved it! Nice one Nokia, you saved me a small fortune. The one she really wanted would have cost me a small fortune!

I like the design but this phone lacks even basic features, which makes it unusable. If you just must have a phone & want something easy & pretty, this phone just about fits the bill.

It's awesome in terms of design & features, it is also a user friendly gadget, but hey! I just bought it after 2 days well I never! The LCD cracked down, it's very sensitive especially it's LCD, I never enjoyed it after all! & spent another cost for its part. Just be careful of using it!

When I bought the Mobile the shop keeper said it was made in Finland. Unfortunately I did not check it, but I bought. In turn when I opened at home for use, it revealed that it was made in CHINA. No Idea how long it will work.
After reading the reviews of others I have doubt on the life of mobile. I like the design & the Price.

Hey guys,
I live in the US but currently in europe. This is what the Nokia europe website says.
- Dual-band GSM 850/1900
- Dual-band EGSM 900/1800
In the US, we have the first 2 bands, but from what I read on some other sites including this site, it says this phone is only 900/1800. Any suggestions on what to believe & do you think I should purchase this here in europe or will this phone come to the US also?
Thanks in advance.

It's a good phone & an affordable price.
Disadvantages being not made in Finland, Lack of volume control (Unable to hear the voice properly occasionally).

Hi, I had purchased a 2630 Nokia mobile on 29th September. I was very happy with the model & the features. It was extraordinary when compared to its values. I was using the phone happily, on 30th September, after receiving a call, I wanted to call back on a number, while having it in mu hand itself, I found that there was no display.
When I took back to the shop where I purchased the mobile, they said that I would have dropped the phone. But 100% I DID NOT. Finally they said that since it was a feather touch phone & LCD display, the display would have broken if I had pressed it hard. I was really shock to hear it. They would not replace the handset because they said it was a physical damage. I am sure I haven't even pressed it.
I had used many series of Nokia mobiles, but this was the first mobile which was that sensitive.

Dubbed the Barracuda, Nokia's new 2630 mobile phone (right) is the company's thinnest phone to date, measuring in at approximately 0.4 inches thick. The entry-level phone also comes with Bluetooth, a built-in camera & all your basic media features (including an FM radio & MP3 ringtones).
Its sibling, the 2760, ups the stakes by adding GPRS, video recording & video playback. The phones will debut in Q3 of 2007 for $115 (2630) & $122 (2760). Personally, I'd go for the sister (the 2760) if I had to choose, although the 2630 does look good.
