This compact 3G Smartphone is a member of the superior Nokia N Series & the N97 Mini comes with a wide range of Smartphone feature to assist its user whilst the user is on the go. The Nokia N97 Mini is closely related to the Nokia N97 when it comes to specification but the main difference has to be the overall size & design of its casing as the N97 Mini is a truly mini Smartphone. The N97 Mini is available in a cherry black colour or a garnet coloured casing so the user can chose the colour to suit their style. This outstanding Smartphone comes with a large touch screen which is 3.2 Inches in size when measured diagonally. The screen supports an automatic rotate user interface & displays up to 16.7 million colours for a beautiful viewing experience. On the front of the casing the user can access the well positioned menu key, clear key & the send or end key. The user can slide out the side located QWERTY keyboard & enjoy viewing the touch screen in a tilt mode for ease of use. This compact Smartphone measures only 1.42cm deep by 5.25cm wide by 11.3cm tall when in its slide closed position & with the fitted battery fitted this handset weighs 138 grams.

The N97 Mini supports a Symbian operating system complete with S60 fifth edition software version 9.4 & comes with a stunning user interface. This handset supports an expandable memory card slot & the N97 Mini can hold up to sixteen gigabytes of external memory plus it has eight gigabytes of internal memory for the user to use. Its built in WLAN Wi-Fi technology allows its user to enjoy connecting their Smartphone to a close by hotspot or wireless LAN to gain a connection the Internet. This Smartphone supports 3G HSDPA technology which allows its user to gain high speed connectivity as well as allowing the user to have a 3G video call with other 3G video calling compatible contacts. The Nokia N97 Mini supports EDGE technology which provides the user with a fast transfer rate when the user is transferring music, pictures & data between their phone & other compatible connectivity devices. When connecting to another device the user can use either Bluetooth® wireless technology or a micro USB connection between the two devices depending on the other devices compatibility & the user's needs. The Nokia N97 Mini comes complete with a high efficiency charger, headset, connectivity cable, Ovi Suite DVD, user guide & a battery. A fully charged battery can provide the user with seven hours of GSM talk time, 4 hours or 3G talk time or approximately 320 hours of GSM battery standby time. This attractive Smartphone works over a GSM bands GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900 & the handset will automatically switch between network bands. This handset also works over WCDMA 850, 900, 1900 & 2100 networks for 3G network coverage. A built in GPS & A GPS navigation feature allows the user to gain information regarding locations & view maps on their handset as this phone supports a Nokia Maps application if the user desires.

The most annoying & disappointing gadget I have ever had. I was looking for an alternative to a fruit based product because everyone has one, but this is not it!

Where to start? Touch screen too small & because of this is not sensitive enough for adult fingers, makes especially web browsing frustrating in the extreme. Battery life poor, take the car with you in case you want to send a text & need to charge it while you're out. Screen freezes too often, reception is poor & music playback quality takes me back to the 60's, makes my Beatles tracks sound like authentic Radio Caroline.

Good things? can't really think of anything, oh except I've dropped it a few times & it's not broken, but then again that could be a bad thing because it means I am stuck with it for another 18 months.

Swallow your pride & head to the nearest fruit market.

Very good phone, had it a couple of months now, very impressive!

Its small, qwerty keyboard for fast texting & emails, I don't like typing on touch screen but having the flexibility of a touch screen & a keyboard is great! The screen comes up at an angle which is very comfortable to type with.

I am a student, so I do a lot of texting & use my phone for social uses. I downloaded windows live messenger (not on ovi store) & I have unlimited data so I go on MSN when I am on trips or somewhere away where there is no WiFi or technology (you know what I mean! ) The phone acts as a mini laptop in such cases. Also for Facebook (however basic).

I listen to music a lot, 8GB storage is good enough for me if I am in the car.

Camera is good (its good for a 5MP).

I don't know what these other people do but I pretty much always get at least two days worth of battery from my phone, & I use it a fair bit (you can save battery if you switch to GSM, it does help).

Ovi maps has been voted one of the best , FREE navigation apps & trust me it's very good for a FREE app.

One bad point, & not of the phone, more Nokia, all the good apps on Nokia, you have to pay for, but there are some good ones.

Overall I think this is an excellent phone, worth getting if you want the flexibility of a touch screen & the comfort & east of a well designed qwerty. Best phone on the market for what it does & its physical features.

I bought it a few days ago & I am still testing it. It is a very nice phone it has a great design.the only thing I have noticed is the quality of the built-in speakers they are not clear, but everything else is good, the interface is good & the touch screen is great & also the camera is quite good.

I have the white version from phones 4 you for over 3 weeks now.

The main gripes are.
- Bad battery life, can last less than a day.
- Battery cover removal is bad for people with slim fingers, I actually broke a fingernail while trying to open it & it still wouldn't budge.
- Poor quality video recording, grainy & blocky.
- Camera produces very grainy viewing of surroundings in camera mode, before picture is taken.
- Can have better security features like locking based on choice rather than time based.

The pleasant things.
- After the phone processes the pictures they are clear.
- Touch screen more responsive than I thought it would be, considering all the iPhone gaga.
- Beautiful looking phone with very well laid out keypad considering the phones overall size, this phone does not feel cheaply built.
- Web browsing allows use of both touch screen & physical keypad, this actually a more pleasant experience than with the iPhone.

I am not sure if some of the gripes are exclusive to just my phone or span the entire line.

Overall, I am still happy with this phone.

A very impressive phone. Responsive touch screen, that responds to fingers, wet finger, finger nails, works through gloves. I was due an upgrade from my N95 & wasn't even sure if I wanted to upgrade as I was happy with it. I had been looking at several phones for a while & opted for N97 mini. Copying contacts, messages etc was so easy & done via Bluetooth in minutes. The new screen is so clear & slide out keyboard good for longer text, like this review, which I am doing on my phone. The touch screen took a bit of getting used to, but so did riding a bike. I am very happy with this phone & think I made a wise choice. I upgraded at Phones 4 you who were fab. £50 trade in on a very old phone.
My only complaint I guess, which loses 5% on design score, is battery life, but a sports car need filling more often than a Ford Fiesta diesel!

Hi had this for a few days & find it very easy to use & excellent camera, had ordered Sony Satio but it froze on the second day so changed to this & I am glad I did. Everthing seems to work fine but will update if it changes.
