My wife got this phone when it first came out & I so wish I had one too. I am locked into a contract on my Orange 5800 Xpress Music & her indoors has this baby.
Wow its fast, stable & packed with features.
She got it because you need two hands to operate it (after getting three points on her licence for texting when driving). No chance of doing that with this phone.
So, after a few months of ownership, what's it like?
Well, its handbag proof. Bought one of those rubber covers of amazon for about a fiver & this phone is still as new. No marks or scratches & it does get chucked around in her handbag with the rest of the stuff a woman carries about.
Well, it is defo reliable. Never had a bit of trouble with it (unlike my 5800).
Useful? You bet. Fast Internet, proper Internet, not the chopped down version you get with other phones. Also, widgets for everything, weather, facebook, googlemail, etc.
Loads & loads of widgets on 4 different screens you just swipe to select.
I loves this phone.
But. One small erk.
If you want a million downloadable apps for your phone to fill it up with stuff you will never use, you might be disappointed. Maemo don't offer very many downloads (but I suppose when more clever people catch on to this phone they will write some good apps).
But I still loves this phone.

Well there I was saving for a N97 Mini, & what did I do, I traded in my N96 at CEX & got this baby. I think it puts a few loyal Nokia fans off, as it's SO different from what has gone before. It can leave you baffled then, as things you expect are in a different format, or just not there. It's a bit of a brick, the screen is not as large as some, & battery life is poor. Annoyingly, one omission seems the ability to write with predictive text. I hate QWERTY, so this has bugged me. Also there is no Mark option, so multiple editing is not available. Do I like then? You bet. I am 55, easily boggled & resent change. After 2 days of ownership though, I am flying with this baby. & if I can master it :).

I bought this phone as soon as it came out afew months back intending to use it when my contract runs out on Saturday.Sadly it has just went back to the shop because of software problems although I do love this phone.Does anyone know how to put music on it?

I got my Nokia N900 6 months ago, & after first twists & problems with its layout I managed to get used to it.
It's still a bit disappointing that it displays everything in landscape mode. Sometimes it seems to be so impractical not to have a vertical (portrait) layout too.
The other disadvantage of that phone is lack of apps. I know there are so many applications on Android, whereas Mameo got just a fraction if it. Well, maybe it is still too early to judge, but I feel hungry for more.

Hi Deepika, could you please answer one question of mine, does it have a built in radio? As I have heard that it has a receiver but I will need to install third party radio in it. Your reply might help me as I am planning to buy one. Thanks.

I had been an iPhone user before I moved to this phone & boy, what a change. Finally a phone where:
- The browser actually works & works everywhere, on all sites, including sites such as YouTube which need flash support.
- Multitasking, it's amazing. I can listen to music, have sat nav on at the same time & have the phone setup so that it plays the music & the sat nav directions from my car radio.
- The inbuilt FM transmitter is amazing. I can listen to Last FM, my own stored music (this device has 32GB storage so lots for all the music) or streaming radio either on the headphones or play them directly on the car radio.
- The screen is bright & ultra clear. More over this phone can play all sorts of video files. Avi, Mkv, Divx. Pretty much anything you can throw at it. Makes my train journeys a pleasure.
I could go on & on but I guess I would stop here.
This is just the most amazing phone I have ever owned. Really happy with my purchase.

Oh my. Never before have I had a phone as complete & fast as this baby. Makes the other phones in my collection look so slow. This baby rocks.
Everything, from youtube to facebook run just like on my PC.
One problem. The wife has pinched it. Now need another. Got ours free with a Vodafone contract. Can't stop browsing. Glad we got free Internet on it.
This phone truly is the next big thing.

The N900 is the first non windows mobile powered phone I have had in 3 years & I can't see myself going back to WM after trying Meamo.
The Linux Maemo OS is just about perfect, its fast, good user interface & very very customisable. The only thing letting it down for me isn't actually the fault of the OS its Nokia's, the OVI maps released with the handset is version 1.0 & they have no intention to upgrade it to ver3.0 as found on Symbian s60 devices (this means no turn by turn navigation).
The handset is well built & quite robust, the camera is the same 5MP used on the N95 & N96 so it's well proven & works well. The handset had 32GB internal memory so I have had no need for a memory card as yet although the phone does have expansion for Micro SD. The screen is very good & reacts well to touch inputs & is well sized for web browsing & watching video files on.
The best thing about the handset is how customisable the software is as the OS is open source so anyone can develop apps & software for it & has a growing community to support it.
The only shortfall for the handset is battery life, Nokia has recently released an OTA Maemo update which has helped with battery life but with moderate use (50 to 75 texts, 15 to 20 emails & maybe 30 minutes of calls with an hour of Web browsing) I am getting about 14 to 18 hours from a full charge. Before the update I was averaging 8 to 10 hours so heavy users beware.
