Our Nokia N9 Review

This is a highly capable touch screen form 3G Smartphone complete with outstanding sound & Internet features included. It is a member of the impressive Nokia N series which includes other highly specified Smartphone's such as the Nokia N8, Nokia N96 & the Nokia N97. The N9 is slightly bigger in size than the N8, but it has a slimmer design measuring 11.65cm by 6.12cm by only 1.21cm in depth & it weighs one hundred & thirty five grams. It casing is fashionable in appearance due to its colourful casing colours which include cyan, magenta & a more subtle black option, plus it has a slightly edgy design with a sharp finish. The entire front section of the casing is filled by the outstanding touch screen display which measures 3.9 inches diagonally. This display provides users with an antiglare high colour viewing screen complete with highly responsive touch screen controls. Its huge memory capabilities include one gigabyte RAM plus the handset is available as either a sixteen or sixty four gigabyte version. This Smartphone supports the MeeGo operating system version 1.2 also known as Harmattan & it is a Wi-Fi® capable device, plus it provides easy connectivity to other devices via Bluetooth® or USB connectivity. It 3G HSDPA & HSUPA support provides users with high speed 3G network connectivity when required, plus it works over quad band GSM networks too.


Users can experience a super fast Internet experience thanks to the HTML5 compatibility which allows users to enjoy multi page browsing as well as one of the fastest mobile Web browsers available, plus RSS & social network Website compatibility. Staying in touch via the phones messaging services is a breeze as users can view all their messages in one place in a user friendly conversation layout. The N9 supports text, multimedia, instant messaging & email, which are all controlled via the responsive touch screen complete with a virtual QWERTY keyboard displayed when necessary. Email accounts may include Yahoo® Mail, Hotmail, Gmail™ or Windows Live™ plus there is support for document attachments. There is a rear facing camera lens with an 8 megapixel Carl Zeiss™ lens providing a high quality photo & video capturing option. Users can share their photos with others directly from the camera feature via Flickr® & Facebook® or share videos directly via YouTube®. The camera comes with many useful features & settings which include a dual LED flash & a photo editing facility allowing photos to be cropped, automatically fixed or to include red eye reduction. High definition videos can be recorded at up to 30 frames per second providing magnificent recording results. Music can be played back on the integrated music player which comes with easy to use music controls & settings, plus a fully charged battery will provide up to fifty hours of music playing time. The sound experience is second to none thanks to the Dolby headphone & Dolby Digital Plus surround sound support which allows users to enjoy both surround sound via the loud speakers as well as personal surround sound via their headphones, & this sound can be enjoyed when playing videos, watching movies on the move or when listening to music.

There is an Ovi maps application which offers users free navigation in ninety counties Worldwide, with either a pedestrian or car navigation being provided with turn by turn instructions, so therefore the user will never get lost again. When making a call this Smartphone comes with three useful view options which allows users to view either their call history, use the dialler keypad or to view & access their stored contacts. In the contacts information users can store, edit, add & delete information easily & each contact can has multiple contact numbers & emails addresses stored. There is a smart dialling option which allows user to call their most frequently used contacts using less effort & clicks, plus a speaker phone call allows calls to be taken over the loud speakers for a hands free call option. Talk time can vary dramatically depending on the features being used but an estimated 11 hours of talk time can be gained when used over a GSM network or approximately seven hours when used over a 3G network. Popular social network Websites such as Twitter® & Facebook® can be either accessed via the Web browser or via the built in applications.
