Had this Smartphone for 5 months now. It's a pleasure to have, but very disappointing at times. Programmes can close while you're busy working. Its processor is not fast enough, e.g. camera takes too long to save photos after capturing. Unfortunately my battery is not very reliable, have to recharge every 3 to 4 days.

This boasts outstanding quality & design. It has the usual E series array of features, & sounds even better than the E71 on paper. BUT I have a feeling the E72 was rushed onto market without going through the proper quality control process. As a result, despite numerous firmware updates, this phone is buggy to the point that it is an inconvenience to use.

Further to others' comments, after taking one photo, provided the camera doesn't crash altogether & shut the phone down, it takes so long to save the picture that by the time you're ready to go again, the moment will have passed.

More importantly, using GPS in the car is a danger. On over half of all journeys, the phone will randomly close the GPS application on its own- leaving you to play with it while driving on the motorway (your destination gets lost too). It's fine to avoid touch screens & take a tried & tested route, but if there are no gimmicks then there's no excuse for getting things this wrong.

Nokia has lost much of its business custom to Blackberry in recent years & the E72's being an atrocious follow up is probably why. Great job guys, better stick to selling phones like the 1100 that no one can compete with. Then again, that's another successful phone for you to spoil.

The user interface can be improved a bit but if you are not obsessed with perfection, you won't have much to complain. The price is the biggest problem here. This handset is offered unlocked & hence costs $419, you can find it for a bit less on the Internet but difference is not that big. It is hard for me to recommend this phone when there are alternatives like RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700 lurking around at a much subsidized rate. But if you are a diehard Nokia fan it will be hard to ignore this phone.

I've had the phone for 10 months, & it's a pleasure to use, even though the keys seem a little small. Sleek, light & comfortable in the hand & not bulky in the pocket.

Loaded with excellent features having used the majority in this time without faults. Multi tasking easy when needed e.g. Listen to the radio or music, answer emails, work on docs on trains. The satnav works very well & sometimes replaces my TomTom when in another car, & I also use it for directions on foot around towns etc.

Battery life is only as good as the set up options & energy saving settings, I do not need to display all shortcuts & therefore opt to extend the battery life.

Speaker sometimes defaults to a mid range setting, but it's easy to reset. Satnav directions are given over hands-free received telephone calls, so best to advise the caller.

Didn't want an iPhone or similar, nor impressed with the Blackberry's. I had experienced 3 replacement Blackberry's over 11 months, & the IT department at the office had a drawer full of faulty handsets.

This seems to be more robust, well considered & generally easy. Shame others have encountered issues, but that's to be found in a few amongst the 1000's made.

I am pleased with it, & now some colleagues have opted for it as well instead of the competition.

This is my first Smartphone & have had this phone for 4 months now but have decided to get something else next year.

Nice design & looks good but find it awkward to use. Frequently apps crash, even something as simple as the calendar locks up. The GPS is laughable as it only really works if you are outdoors & even then can lose connection to satellites. Tried using it in the car which resulted in a rapid return to a map!

Overall, seriously disappointed in the experience with this phone.

I upgraded from an E71 which is brilliant. Unfortunately.

Contact with Nokia support, on the assumption that maybe I have done something wrong, has been unproductive, to say the least

I am amazed that Nokia have managed to undermine the good name that the E71 had generated for them.

I am still a student, hence this phone might not have a great use or impact on me. But, overall it's still an ideal phone for people who love QWERTY keypad, having a good camera & elegant design. I've got it for almost a month, & have not discovered much functions yet, thus for usability, I don't think it's good for students like us. Precisely for business man.

The E72 is a great phone. I am addicted to mobiles & have numerous contracts running. I thought the HTC Hero would fulfil my ideal phone slot but the E72 flicks snot at it. I have recently had a Blackberry Storm 2, an HTC magic, a Vodafone 360, a blackberry curve, HTC Hero & all have major faults apart from the curve 8900 that my wife took off me. The E72 is so user friendly & a pleasure to own. You do get the feeling Nokia still know what they're doing. I have wished for years that Nokia would design a phone with a slide down keyboard so as to have a decent sized screen & I have the feeling that Blackberry is going to bring something like that out next month. It's so frustrating that no phone manufacture can cover all angles. It's as if they worry we won't ever buy another phone if they produce something that is a brilliant all rounder. For now the other phones stay in the drawer. I am keeping the E72 till something more ideal turns up.

Hi there. A 100 % in all three categories.

The phone is a real winner, much better than the E71. The optical pad is a pleasure to use. A 5 megapixel camera is a 5 megapixel thing. So do not expect a digital SLR. 3.5mm jack should always be there. Keypad is basically the one of the E63 which is equal to a super slick one. It's packed with features which would take a heavy user through 3 days before recharging. Full of bells & whistles for a good price.

Buy one :-).

Bad - Nothing.

OK - Camera, D pad & PC Suite.

Excellent - Ergo & looks.

Go for the E72, it is the overall winner, I had been using E71 for a year, wanted a change so got an N-Series. Sold at a loss of around $100 (USD) as there is no return policy at my place. & got the E72, & believe me it is the greatest phone Nokia has ever made, all the features of N97 mini & better build quality, better processor 600mhz, n97 has 369mhz, better keyboard, better battery, more software features- Office document editor, Adv comm. Manager, pdf viewer (n97 has the trial version for 15 days), active profiles, Nokia messaging.

All the so called widgets of N97 are mostly the free software, nowhere near the quality software included in the E72.

My advice, go for the E72, Smartphone with very good multimedia features.

Sam.

A fantastic phone which has been well worth waiting for. Had it for 5 days & if you take the time to sit down & learn the phone, you will be very happy with the results.

Easy to navigate, a host of useful features & a very good camera as a bonus. Nice design that makes it easy to text & email. HSPDA makes surfing a quick & easy pleasure.

The Nokia instruction manual is the only poor thing about this phone!

I am not one for grand gestures or big statements BUT this is the best phone I have ever owned.
