Overview
This bar style Nokia phone comes with a slim & elegant casing complete with a well spaced out keypad & the added luxury of a touch screen. The Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type mobile phone does exactly what its name states, it is an easy to use handset complete with touch & type input options available for its user. This stylish phone is from the same Nokia range as the Nokia C3, but this Touch & Type version supports a touch screen & a keypad rather than a full keyboard & it has a higher megapixel camera feature. Its main features would be its 5 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, easy to use messaging services, touch controlled Web browsing & game playing plus its 3G HSDPA technology.

Appearance & Size
It casing is small in size & slim in depth which measures 11.1cm by 4.75cm by 1.1cm, providing the user with a pocket friendly 3G phone. It weighs one hundred grams with its fitted battery & it comes in three colours which include silver, warm grey & a khaki gold colour. Its bar form designed casing gives the casing a solid feel & its keypad supports large keys for thumb or finger controlled key selection. The touch screen provides a user friendly input method allowing the user to access all their phones features & control their selections using simple on screen controls. It displays up to two hundred & sixty two colours on a 2.4 inch TFT touch screen with a 240 pixel by 320 pixel screen resolution. The user can change their phones themes, add a colourful screensaver & enjoy picture wallpapers on their C3-01 Touch and Type giving the handset a customised & personal appearance.

It touch screen allows the user to experience touch screen gaming controls & the handset comes with preloaded games to start off the gaming experience. There is a Memorize, Climate Mission & Puzzle It game already installed & ready to play, plus the user can add more games to their phone via download. A rear facing camera lens supports a 5 megapixel digital camera feature complete with easy to use picture capturing & video recording capabilities. There are many photo & video options which will ensure the user captures their desired shot or recording. The touch screen works perfectly as a full screen viewfinder & the user can use the zoom option & LED flash when desired. The Nokia C3-01 Touch & Type also supports video streaming & video playback in many formats, so the user can enjoy video entertainment on the move. There is an integrated music player which allows the user to enjoy up to twenty hours of music playing time form a fully charged battery. A radio feature supports a FM tuner & a radio data system with onscreen information which can be read whilst the radio is providing a listening experience for the user, plus this radio feature supports a customisable radio theme.

Communication & Messaging
With its easy to use touch & type input methods messaging on this handset is a breeze, as the user can create text messages, emails, enjoy instant messaging communication & create a multimedia message containing pictures, videos & sound. The user can customise a top contacts widget on their phone which makes communication with their most popular contacts easier for the user. Each contacts stored in the phone book can have multiple contacts numbers & email addresses assigned to their name. The C3-01 Touch & Type supports social network applications such as Facebook & Twitter, so therefore providing another form of communication for the user allowing friends to find out exactly what other friends are doing. Call features including a hands frees speaker call can be enjoyed on Nokia C3-01 Touch and Type allowing the user to rest their phone at the side of them whilst enjoying a out loud call experience. The call log stores a list of calls made from the phone, call received & missed on the phone plus the user can use a speed dial option when making calls.

Technology & Internet
This phone comes with thirty megabytes of internal memory & its memory card slot will hold up to thirty two gigabytes of external memory. Its fully charged battery will provide up to five & a half hours of talk time when the phone is being used over GSM networks or approximately four hours of talk time can be enjoyed when used over 3G HSDPA networks. The C3-01 Touch & Type works over GSM networks GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900 plus 3G HSDPA networks 850, 900, 1900, 2100 & will automatically switch between networks dependant on the users networking requirements. This phone provides a fun & user friendly Web experience complete with touch screen controls & a social network compatible browser. WiFi® connectivity provides connectivity to a nearby wireless LAN or hub allowing the user to gain access to the Internet without using wires or cables. This is my first touch phone & therefore I welcome the presence of the usual keys as well as the touch screen. I quite like it & getting more & more into it.

Very slim & feels sturdy & heavy just enough to convince you of well built handset. No problems using it other than the normal waste of time trying to figure out how to transfer contacts & messages from my old LG to the new Nokia.

Battery seems to need charged rather quickly & I am not that heavy user really. It's a pain that Nokia was too cheap to supply USB cable & I had to look it up & order from Amazon. I think will need to order an extra battery as well. Very good for me, but still early days as only couple of weeks in my hands.

Due upgrade from Orange from 6303, but Orange wouldn't give me this phone in exchange, (because of the crazy contract I am on, but that's another story), so went & purchased the phone from Carphone Warehouse.

Great wee phone, slim & very simple to use, as I primarily use camera, (5 megapixel), text & Internet. All work perfectly & once I got past the Internet access the phone is a joy to have. As a retired citizen I would be the first to say that I prefer this type of phone, firstly as I have a bad finger & secondly, & I know younger boffins would say & also go the whole way for a touch screen, for my age the phone is perfect. Touch is very simple & although the screen is small at 2.4 inches, it does open up to full size & not like other phones that have a black border top & bottom of screen hence reducing their screen size but not this phone.

Lock is simple as is camera operation along with headphones.

So far I have found no fault as I believe Nokia to be a very good product & certainly a step up from my 6303.

I would suppose for Internet user the phone would be seen as basic but as I have already said the phone ticks all my boxes.

For younger users I would expect them to go to complete touch screen & for access to a lot more apps, but in this phone, (& after weeks of reading reviews, I have all I need), I would recommend the C3-01 for the things I use & which I have stated above.

Before this phone I had a Samsung Tocco Lite (see my review), I miss a lot on that phone but after 2 years of solid work it decided to give up (are.I.P). Now I decided to get a new phone all together. The C3-01 touch & type hybrid is quite hard to understand at first but after a couple of days your flying, the touch screen is a lot easier to use than the Tocco Lite, but the screen is obviously smaller, the WLAN or WI-FI is difficult to see if you are using your credit or using the net for free. It's a sturdy phone & has great sound, finding your music is very easy & the albums you put on the phone are set to how you use them, there is also a little picture of the music album you're listening to on the screen which is not necessary but is quite attractive, the scores I have given for usability are for the first couple of days you have it other than that 85% out of 100. Good phone.
