Our Nokia 7020 Review

The 7020 is a clamshell handset which has been designed by Nokia complete with user friendly call, messaging & entertainment features. This handset has a stylish & fashionable look due to its external hidden screen & its compact design. The casing measures only 17.3mm deep & is 91.2mm tall by 46.7mm wide when it's in closed position. The Nokia 7020 weighs approximately 86.2 grams which includes its fitted battery which is a lightweight handset for carrying purposes. It comes with an external screen which is 1.36 Inches when measures diagonally but this screen has a subtle icon display & the user can enjoy using a tap to activate control to view the external clock, as a gentle tap of the screen will activate this display in an instant. This external screen also has a stardust feature for calls, camera feature, open or closed handset & for power on or off notifications. The 7020 is available in a hot pink coloured casing, or a graphite coloured casing for a more subtle approach to mobile communication. When the user opens this phone they will find a 2.2 Inch colour screen on the opened section of the casing & on the lower section of the casing is a user friendly, well spaced out keypad for inputting numbers & text, complete with a smooth navigation control.

The Nokia 7020 makes communication easy for the user as the user can enjoy the built in call features which will assist the user when making a call. The user can access a call log which will display a list of missed calls, calls received & calls made from the handset. When a call is not convenient or the user wishes to communicate using a different method then the user can use one or all of the built in messaging service which are available on the Nokia 7020. The messaging services include an instant messaging service which allows the user to communicate using text & symbols to other that are online at the same time as the user. This instant messaging service allows the user to chat using text to others & works like an instant messaging service which the user has on their computer. There is also an email service which supports email attachments which is ideal for the user when communicating with contacts with an email address. Other messaging services include a multimedia messaging service & a SMS text messaging service, so the user has many methods of communication on their new handset. The Nokia 7020 comes with a calendar feature which can hold up to one thousand & five hundred entries at any one time which will keep the user organised. The GPS navigation system allows the user to locate where they are & supports a Nokia Maps application. The user can surf the Internet on their handset which provides a HTML, XHTML & WML Internet experience.

If the user likes to enjoy a mobile gaming experience then the Nokia 7020 comes well equipped with a large amount of pre loaded games ready to entertain its user.

The phone has 45 megabytes of internal memory & comes with a memory card slot which supports MicroSD™ memory card up to 16 gigabytes in size. The user can enjoy high speed data transfer rates as the handset supports GPRS & EDGE technology. The battery provided with the handset is a rechargeable type battery & allows the user to charged their battery using either a power adapter or via the USB connection. When fully charged the user can enjoy up to four & a half hours of talk time or five hundred & fifty hours of standby battery time. The battery allows the user to playback videos for approximately seven & half hours or enjoy approximately eight hours of game playing time from a fully charged battery, dependant on other features used. As a teen I pushed this phone to its limits. After my poor Sony Ericsson K750i (a phone I'd recommend to anyone who wants something that will both survive multiple drops in the bath as well as the destructive nature of a toddler! With great ease of use! ) fell apart after the battery case jammed & I needed a knife to break it open, I thought I'd never find the perfect phone. Upon getting this for Christmas, I admit I was sceptical. But it was surprisingly good! The standard games are fun, Internet is a bit iffy at times but generally OK (used on the bus multiple times with no problems) battery life lasts 2.5 days with HEAVY texting! Buttons are good (although I admit I am used to the individual buttons of the S.E. & so the panel buttons took some getting used to) predictive text STAYS ON AFTER YOU LEAVE the MESSAGING MENU! (some thing I know other phones don't, VERY annoying! ) The camera is thoroughly average but expected, memory size is good & overall it's a phone that does what it says with a cherry on top.

Sure, it doesn't have icing & fireworks too, but all of that just distracts from the fact that IT'S A PHONE! NOT a computer.

If you want more gimmicks than phone, this is not for you. If you want reliability, affordability, & the fun of 3D snake & Bounce Tales (an annoyingly addictive game, got told off in lesson for playing it!) then I can't think of a more suitable phone for you. Except maybe the Sony Ericsson.

But this one's a flip which makes it ultimately more awesome! :D.

I can't understand why some people are moaning about this phone, I think it does what it's says on the tin I have no problem browsing, emailing, texting, a few are complaining about the ring tone not being loud enough I think if they took the time to read the manual they won't be long sorting this out. All in all a great phone & I have no trouble recommending it.

Good phone. I purchased the day before yesterday. Yes the ringing is not so loud, but since in my office time even a short beep works.

Other things like FM radio & MP3 player are well & good.

Overall. After 2730, 7020 is cheap & best from Nokia.

I really can't understand the three previous criticisms. Although I may not use all the features that it is capable of, this is a great phone as far as I am concerned. I particularly like the way the ringing tone starts softly & then increases the sound to a fully adequate level, ideal if you are in somewhere & don't want to cause a disturbance if someone calls you.

Useless phone. Doesn't have a loud ring. Didn't understand the purpose of a silence key. When the phones flip is closed, after pressing the silence key the other callers get disconnecting from the call. What is the purpose? Vibration worthless, we don't even feel the vibration when put in the pocket. Waste buy from Nokia.

- Switches off without any reason.
- Download PC suit does not work (for this model).
- Bluetooth with PC, still not yet successful.
- This looks a wrong buy.

Pretty useless IMO, since it doesn't ring loud enough. Plus the vibration mode is disabled when the phone is charging, not sure why. A phone should ring loud when requested, my Motorola's always do this. To bells & whistles I would just rather a loud ring!
