A good phone.

I have had the phone for a month now & the buttons sticks, especially the 4 button. The memory is not as good as the previous phone so I can only call half the people I have in the past. I like the way you can access the battery as the back comes off really easily in your pocket. It makes a very good paper weight. I cannot get it to pair with my car Bluetooth.

I bought this phone for my staff as I got it cheap from Orange. It's not too bad when you think about the cost. Only one or two have caught fire & that will keep them warm until spring comes. The GPS will keep an eye on the lads playing golf.

Like the last reviewer, bought this phone couple of weeks ago & it would be great if it worked, continually crashing, it has dropped all my calls after either 58 seconds or 1 min 58 seconds, every single call! The same happens when creating a text, & also when attempting to surf the Internet. The design & features are fine for my needs, but it doesn't matter how good the design & features are if you can't use them! I shall be returning my phone too!

This phone, bought last week, was fine, apart from the stiff buttons when texting & I have small nimble fingers. However, it keeps on freezing up on me & turning itself off & on again. I will be returning it to the Orange shop for a replacement tomorrow.

This is a great mobile phone. It is only around £30 to £60 & is well worth the money. It doesn't have many flaws but the 3G connection could be a bit faster. The video recording quality is awful but on the plus side the speakers & the screen has sharp graphics & a good brightness.
This phone is perfect for all ages & is from a brand you can trust.

I had a couple of things in mind when I was looking for a phone.
- First & foremost, I didn't want to break the bank. I limited myself to less than $100 USD. So with this in mind, I was rather limited in my selection.
- I wanted a phone that could work as an MP3 player. I've had one for about 6 years, & wanted an upgrade. Most phones nowadays function as such.
- A basic camera. I am an avid photographer, & wanted something that I could pull out & take snapshots with. Obviously, I wasn't going to get anything stellar at my price point, but there were some options.
After going to the store, I deliberated between the 2730 & another 27xx phone. I can't remember the exact model. The 2730 was slightly more. The major difference was that it was 3G & came with a 1 Gig Micro SD card. I paid the extra & got 2730.
As an MP3 player, the phone offers 1GB of storage out of the box, expandable to 2GB if you have get another card. I suppose I could copy MP3 to another card, & swap them out. Rather, I removed the map database from the memory card & maximized it for MP3 capacity. I have about 900 MB of music, which translates into about 12 hours of listening time. That's not everything, but sufficient for what I want to do.
As a camera, the phone works OK. It seems to overexpose the images but this can be mitigated some by playing with the exposure by pointing the camera at the brightest light source, then slowly moving it back to the subject. The software also tends to compress the images too much for my taste, but I understand this is done to minimize file size. I write a customized application to capture images with little compression for shots I don't care to send.
When combined with the Ovi Suite & Outlook, the phone works like a PDA too syncing calendar data & contacts. I don't really these features much so I haven't tested the limits. I do like calculator because it offers basic & scientific functions, which I find rather helpful. I've never had this on a mobile phone before now.
In terms of Internet connectivity, the phone is equipped with 3G & 2G so it can connect to just about anything. If your computer is Bluetooth enabled & you have a data plan, the phone can act as a Bluetooth access point. For the road warrior, this is nice to have.
In short, this phone seems like a basic phone wanting to be a smart phone. It offers many of the same feature, but in a somewhat lesser fashion. But At the price I don't think you'd find a more feature rich phone either.
So overall, I am pleased with the purchase.

This is a simple, inexpensive 3G Nokia phone. If you have modest expectations from a mobile phone then it will probably suffice & you will be pretty content with your purchase. However, even allowing for how cheap it is there are one or two things that do frustrate.
The 2730 Classic looks very similar to the 6700 Classic, which is no bad thing. But as soon as you pick it up you know it's not the same phone, the 2730 is light & plastic whereas the 6700 is solid & metallic. But it also a lot more expensive. Also the keypad, although looking almost identical to the 6700, is not as nice to use. But, again, we must remember that they are in completely different price brackets & my 2730 is robust enough to have survived being dropped several times.
If you are familiar with NOKIAs then its layout & menu system will hold no surprises. I am completely reliant on my mobile's calendar & I like the way the Nokia's operate. Although OVI maps is present there is no GPS receiver, but it can still be useful if you've left your A to Z at home. The phone also has a more than adequate loud speaker if, sensibly, you don't like to have the mobile fixed firmly to the side of your head.
My main two gripes with the phone are as follows, although I can hear the other caller quite clearly I've often been told that they can't hear me as clearly as when I am on, say, a 6600 Slide. This is disappointing as calling is a basic feature of a phone. I can be heard, unless there's a great deal of background noise, but they do have to listen a little more carefully. The other downside is that the Bluetooth experience is very poor to the point that I don't use the Bluetooth earpiece at all & use the supplied headphones instead.
But let's not forget that you can buy this thing for under £50. For that price it does the job more than adequately.

First of all, the phone looks very good. I've got the maroon backed version, & it's very classy. The screen is bright. Nokia's new interface works very nicely & is well thought out.
There have been lots of reviews that say the keypad is too hard. This is wrong. The buttons are easy to press & it is perfectly responsive. However, it IS a small keypad. It is a small phone, so it is to be expected! The phone will not cater for people with abnormally fat or clumsy fingers.
I wanted a nice looking simple phone (not a touch screen) that wasn't too expensive (harder to find than you might think). Before, I had a W595 which I was very happy with, but I always love Nokia's, & this is no exception. The 6700 is very nice, but is also very expensive. The cheaper 2330 model is horrible. For £50, this is a great looking phone with great battery life. It also has Bluetooth, which is nice if you want to share a picture & music file from someone.
Personally, I am not that bothered when it comes to Internet or cameras. I have a Nikon camera to take photographs. However, if you like to have a camera on your phone for snapping, then this will do you okay. If you want high resolution & high megapixels, forget it. This phone is not trying to be a camera replacement.
So it depends what you want. Don't expect this phone to have a top end camera, a big screen for Internet, music player. & a good battery life to support all that. If you want something that has everything, or a touch screen that actually works, you should be looking at iPhones. You will not get a phone with all that for £100, let alone £50. But if you're like me, & want something simple, reliable & classy, with a good battery, for making phone calls & sending messages, go for it.

A question really. Just bought mine & it has a mapping memory card in the slot. Apparently you need to download the maps but is this free when you click yes or will it cost a fortune in phone downloading time?

It's a nice phone. It's mostly got everything, thou not the highest specs but it does the job. One thing that I don't like is that the keypad is so stiff I could barley text 2 sentences. When I was in Vodafone I could send 2000 text in just 3 weeks. My thumb aches so bad when I text wit this phone. That's the only problem I have so far. Though, it the phone comes with 1 gig memory card but no USB cable so what's the point of including a memory card when there's no USB cable included in the box? Common sense Nokia.
It's just the keypad really. It kind of put me off. I did get a bit frustrated but otherwise, everything in this phone is good & works perfectly. Thanks. :)
Good luck guys!

I recently bought this phone for a little under $100 Aus to replace an old, very basic Nokia. Actually, I didn't realise it would connect me to the 3G Network, so I could use the Internet. I found linking to my Google calendar & Gmail very useful. Camera, FM & MP3 OK, talks well to the computer via Bluetooth or USB link (which is quite a bit faster than BT). I usually use the speaker, & found that I can increase the volume with the UP button. I wanted to load an Italian dictionary, but the PC suite wouldn't load the application, because the phone doesn't handle SIS files, whatever that means. One bizarre thing is that it has an English to Chinese dictionary, which is totally useless for me. My daughter bought one of these phones a few weeks ago, but dropped it from waist height onto the carpet, & the impact ruined the screen, so perhaps it's not too robust. But on the whole, it looks like pretty good value.

People need to remember, they choose the phone to use, the phone doesn't choose the user. This is why I don't understand some negative reviews.
OK, I've had my 2730 for a month now & it suits me just fine. It is easy to use & navigate although I find my sausage fingers a little clumsy at times with the small keys. The battery life is exceptionally good & the little inbuilt radio very effective, the little 2 megapixel camera is quite respectable as well giving the option of both portrait & landscape options for shoot.
In a nutshell, this little phone is stylish, it does what it says on the tin & it beats my old Samsung hands down.
Well worth the cost.

I've had this phone a couple of months now & have to say that overall I'm very pleased with it. The phone design is OK & I think it looks more expensive than it is. Key pad is a bit clicky, noisy & stiff, but as I don't live on my phone that's not too much of an issue for me. If you text every 5 minutes it might be a problem though. I am also a bit disappointed with the ring tone volume, as even on the loudest setting I've missed calls when out & about with the phone in my bag. The alarm function is no good for a heavy sleeper, as again it's too quiet.
Battery life is great, I am an average user & charge mine every 5 to 6 days. Calls are always clear & signal reception is very good, I've usually got at least a few bars even in the local poor reception areas.
Camera isn't very good, but I am not too bothered as I've got a digital camera for taking pictures! Email was a doddle to set up & works fine (I am on hotmail & the phone set it up easily for me, I only had to type in the address & password). Don't really use the Internet on a phone, but I tried it & it was fairly quick.
Great little phone if you want a good, reliable phone & aren't too bothered about fancy gadgets.

Nokia 2730 classic, worst phone I ever owned, cheap, nasty & dead after a few months. A shame because the design is OK & it is easy to navigate, but there is absolutely no quality control on these things, the camera died first, then the whole screen. Avoid, avoid, avoid (unless you can read your text messages via telepathy).

I find it best to wait for a while before posting a review. I don't understand when people post reviews on something when they've only had it for a few days.
Firstly, I agree with Mr Gugeon's comments regarding the maps. I bought this phone on PAYG through Orange & was told it has a built in Sat Nav & Ovi map facility already loaded, hence the main reason for me buying it. But it doesn't! This isn't the phone's fault, it's Orange who lied.
I've had this phone for a few months now & overall find it below average. Yes, it's a low end phone, but phones aren't the bricks they used to be & Nokia could at least get the screen right. If you hold the phone & tilt it from side to side the image on the screen seems to fade away. Same if you tilt it forwards & back.
When using the keypad, there seems to be a delay of about a second from pressing a key to the phone actually doing what I pressed. Sound quality is okay, but could be a bit crisper IMO. The screen is already scratched & I haven't dropped it. Phone seems to have quite good signal strength. Phone crashes every time I try to use the net, so I would advise against using that. Battery life is good.

Neat, light weight, very handy phone. While not having a built in GPS it will run Nokia maps, with very handy address search & routing (not voice). Keyboard is a little small.

To be quite honest I do love this phone (even though I had to have a replacement because it would make a rattling sound). OK the MP3 player side should have been a little bit better & the earphones could have had a better sound, but it's a quality phone, for the people who complain about the maps stop whinging & get a proper map then it's a decent phone I know I had to have a replacement but everything else worked fine. I've dropped it from waist height onto concrete on a drunken night but it still worked.
It's stylish & a brilliant phone OK I didn't mark everything down at 100%'s but nothing in life will ever be 100% perfect. I have had no other problems with the phone, it just needs a better sound quality but that's what you get when you by a cheap but effective phone. I have had it since December 2009 & have no regrets about purchasing this phone.

This phone is pretty awful, if you try & use Internet & listen to music at the same time, it crashes. Sometimes certain features don't work for no reason, the keypad is noisy, the letters on the back have already peeled off & the camera is awful. Don't buy this phone!

Love this phone to bits. Love this phone to bits for the price. Maps work on it as well in see. I think the lower rating for maps comes from the fact nobody has tried using this service properly, I can. Nice feel, sturdy, plays my favourite games, music is ace & Web browsing fast.

Just got my replacement Nokia 2730 (first one broke within 7 days! ) very shocked at how Nokia have let their quality slip! The phone feels cheap & is very slow. It may not be the most expensive phone ever but Samsung S3500 (paid the same for) was MUCH better. Not very well built, bad sound quality & doesn't look good from the back. Now for the good points. IT'S A Nokia! It is really easy to use, good battery life (5 days & still had more)also has a memory card slot (up to 2GB supported) Overall not very impressed with this phone! Don't BUY IT! Wish I still had the S3500 but that unfortunately it was ruined.

If you want to run your life from your mobile phone then this probably isn't the model for you. However, if like me, you want a stylish, easy to use phone with which you can do a few photos & videos, text & call, it's well worth a look. I think it's a better looking phone than the more expensive 6303 Classic & it feels better to use as well. Well put together with a nice keypad, you would never be ashamed to take this phone out anywhere. OK, let the posers & geeks drool over their Smartphones, for most of us they would be a complete waste of money.
Nice one (again) Nokia.
P.S. The 50% mark for features above is only because I haven't even looked at most of them!

Pro's.
Maps works, pictures are good, text is easy, email works fine, MP3 & FM basic clear works fine lasts a long time on a charge, screen easy to see in bright conditions, keypad is great for small to medium hands, Battery is GREAT.
Con's.
No volume control for phone calls but if you activate voice clarity you can hear fine in mid noisy conditions.

I do not own this phone, but having done a bit of research I have found a downloadable guide &, about the GPS, it says 'Your device does not have an internal GPS antenna. To use applications that require a GPS connection, use a compatible GPS receiver (accessory sold separately). I hope that this clears Nokia's name as far as GPS app's go.

Just a very basic phone, for the average user, good for most things, but not to be bought & used as a Smartphone or top of the range music player. Don't buy this phone if you want maps, its right actually, this phone goes against trading standards in this respect because you can't use the service. Don't get this phone for using as a Smartphone or quality sound music, it's great for a cheap phone though & does a lot of other things well. The music is good enough & the camera is basic, does a good photo in the day light. I find this phone does all I need it to do personally, but again, if you need maps & the best in music & gaming, this phone won't work for you.
I am unsure about the maps as I don't use them much, but I should take note that maps probably might not work on this phone. I rate it for my own personal use, which is simplicity & texting, I have small hands & find texting great, I have only had this phone for a short time & want to be fair, for me it plays a few games that I like, but I don't think it downloads that many games at the moment, well, not the full spectrum, music for me is good enough, I don't listen in a lot, but it seems fine. The Internet works well & fast enough. Internet connection is fast, not super speeds such as the iPhone mind, my friend has an iPhone so I see the differences. So, this phone is great for the price & does a lot, but not anything like a Smartphone or touch screen device. Good enough for a more basic phone with Internet & gaming plus music, without the full speed & efficiency of a Smartphone, for 50 pounds, it's great, but no, no, for quality maps etc, don't forget you can download opera mini for some services which take up more memory, I can manage to order from a catalogue for example that way.

I sent you a review panning this phone yesterday. In fact it's even worse than I thought. Not only does it NOT run any GPS facility (which I wasn't actually expecting), not only does it not run Nokia Maps properly or at all despite being pre installed & clearly referred to in the handbook as part of the package), when you go through the Ovi website to download maps it tells you that this phone is not supported & that it doesn't in fact have Maps software on it so you can't download them.
I intend to take this up with Trading Standards having already got no response from Mr. Orange who sold me this.

I bought one on Saturday to replace my ageing 6230i. It's not a patch on the old one & will be going straight back to the Orange shop that it came from.
The menus are illogical, muddled & unhelpful, the camera is at best passable, the radio is mediocre, as is the quality of the MP3 player. It does NOT have a GPS facility & will not run Nokia maps correctly even though the link is pre installed, in fact from the Ovi website (pre installed bookmark) I get a message that they are not compatible with this phone. Nor will it let you download the excellent Google maps, which run like a dream on my 6230i.
It is, however, full of junk which you can't uninstall.
It's clearly trying to tie you into Nokia & Orange products & nothing else.
No thank you.

Hi again, this phone does the lot, banking, email on the go & game downloads etc, when you bookmark your phone on the Internet you find a page where you can get games etc, also if you join ovi, you can buy games & get free screen savers etc! I happen to like this phone for some reason, its working very well & I am not in the best signal area either. Do remember to check for signal strength though, before choosing a network. This phone does most of what you need it to do & is less confusing than some models. It's best to bookmark your email sites etc as the writing is clearly larger. It's also cheap at the moment, you can buy this in most shops for around 50 pounds.

Hi, I love this mobile phone. It works a treat & is easy for the texter. Just bear in mind it is a simple phone & not to be compared with your Smartphone. It is wonderful for the cost, has a clear screen, nice themes, a snake game, good Internet services & a lovely sound. It would have been nice to have a slip proof backing though as it's slippery. I like it very much indeed. Remember though, not a Smartphone, but very much equal to one for its price range. I haven't tried banking or anything on it & I don't know if its equipped for that, but otherwise it works lovely for music, radio, 2 megapixel photos & texting. Just right for your every day phone, great for that. I have played snake on it & I am getting used to the controls for that & as it's a new phone finding games to put on it at the moment is proving difficult, so if you don't want a mobile mainly for gaming, banking, specialised Internet connections etc, get this phone its absolutely lovely & you will love the tones. Suitable for anyone really, but great for those who like the good old Nokia classics & others to try besides! Happy New Year & that x.
