Motorola V1050 3G Phone Review

The Motorola V1050 is a very attractive & fashionable 3G black clamshell phone which has some highly usable features. The V1050 is a slightly higher specified version of the Motorola V975 & both phones have great built in features. The V1050 comes complete with an integrated 1.3 megapixel digital camera which includes 8 x digital zoom & LED light. The Motorola V1050 is fully equipped to allow the user to take video recordings & download video from the Internet with the streaming feature. The 262k TFT colour screen is perfect for viewing photos & video recordings.

Picture caller identification is fun to use & instead of seeing the callers telephone number displayed it is possible to see the callers photo which really gives the V1050 a personal touch. Voice recognition is another feature included in the Motorola V1050 which gives this phone a very unique & personal feel.

This phone is great for messaging & allows the user to send instant messages, text messages (SMS), multimedia message service (MMS) & email. The MMS messaging service makes it possible for the user to send text, photos & sound all in one message.

Motorola have included a great MP3 player which has high sound quality with a 104cc volume output & the user can download the latest hits from the Internet.

The V1050 makes it possible for the user to take video calls & video conferencing calls which can be very beneficial to the user & are very easy to set up. The phone comes with J2ME™ games which are embedded & downloadable from the Internet.

The TransFlash™ memory is an external memory card that expands up to 512 Mbytes which is plenty for storing all the precious photos & videos taken by the user.

The Motorola v1050 is one of the best phones to have, but I just wish that it had the Bluetooth, & the skin setting where I can change the colour of the screen bar.

Bought this in September 2005, excellent phone, only downside is 'the lack of Bluetooth'. When I first opened the box I was surprised by the brick I struggled to take out. The design was quite bad. I hadn't seen a phone this size since the 1990's. I brought it back a few months ago because the flip-button kept sticking & when I opened it, the screen was blank. It was fixed very speedily & the software was updated. But now I am having the SAME PROBLEM! Really annoying! Another thing is that when you set the alarm, it doesn't always go off which I absolutely hated! Going to replace it soon with a 'slider Samsung', not sure which one yet, probably one of the cool touch sensitive ones.

Purchased from Vodafone online shop. Fine for 10 months then failed to charge. Vodafone take it in for repair, having been told it is probably the battery they refuse to take battery just the charger & phone. Vodafone replace power pack reflash phone needlessly & looses info.

Phone charges in shop with very flat battery but fails at home. Taken phone back they replace battery, it charges in shop & at home, but then fails to charge next day. Warranty now expired so really hacked off.

I bought this phone last September. Within 3 months the LCD screen turned completely blank & I couldn't do anything with it. I sent it back, it got repaired, I was happy. 7 months after having purchased the phone it completely stops charging. Again, I can't use my phone & have to send it back.

This is in addition to an alarm that usually does work, but sometimes doesn't & a volume switch on the side that also no longer works. I can't figure out why so many faults with one phone!

Would I recommend this phone to anybody? No.

I found this phone very attractive. However I came to realise that it doesn't support message delivery system, no Bluetooth or infra-red. However I love it. Keep it up

Only pity is infra red or Bluetooth, but with USB not a big loss. Location of small camera on outside is a bit close to the hinge & with the phone case on it folds over the lens, but on the whole a fantastic phone with a myriad of options. Well done Motorola

This was our teenagers dream come true. 6 months later the LCD has broken without any damage done to the casing. What a let down. One very careful owner now very miserable & going back to the cheaper options on the market.

This phone is one of the best that I have ever purchased, & for only £80 it's not a bad price either. The mp3 player is of the highest quality. I was very pleased with the screen resolution, & it is crystal clear. Although there are some reservations with this phone (mainly weight, battery life & the fact that there is no Bluetooth or infra-red) it is very reliable & worth the money that I paid.

There can't be a better user friendly phone on the market than this one it's so easy to use & compatible to use with the Internet, the screen is top notch as is the high sound quality & you will have great fun with the picture caller identification. It comes with SMS & MMS functions so if there was ever a mobile to have then this is it. Love it.

Great mobile, having great fun downloading video clips from the Internet which is really easy to do on this model. You will appreciate the MP3 player, the sound quality is first class so you can download all the latest hits. How cools that. With the TransFlash external memory card there's plenty of memory to store all you require. I've downloaded so much music I have my own mobile disco. Brilliant.

The look of this phone will give you loads of street creed but as to the usability I think you can buy a lot better, the screen is clear enough & you will find it very easy to use but beware the battery life is terrible. You'll find that you are forever putting it on charge some times it feels like it's on charge more than you are actual using it.
