I love my Motorokr E6 mobile. You can't use screensavers, you won't have navigator & wifi. You can download & use all the remaining things & the world if you have enough knowledge. It's really a fantastic mobile.

Good score for design, features & usability but I think I prefer the overall look of the ROKR E8, I am on a mission to find it, was hoping to find it at CPW or Dial a phone but no joy. May have to change my preferred manufacture & try a Sony Ericsson, but I like the MOTO style : (.

I have my E6 10 months ago. Recently I dropped it in water accidently. Though I dried it immediately with utmost care & given it for repairs, the mother board was totally damaged & had to change it which was a costly affair. Also the minus point is that it doesn't support many media formats which are easily opened in other handsets. As a Moto fan, I feel let down when even small video clips does not open at all. Some upgraded soft ware must be developed & made available. That's what I feel. The camera quality is also poor as observed by majority of customers. However, there are many other good features including document viewer & decent display quality. Thanks Aneesh.

Worst mobile phone ever seen at a huge price. Worst Battery, needs charging twice a day. No Voice dialling. Worst ear phones.

You cannot send contact details as messages, only MMS is supported.

Bluetooth, if battery if 50% or less just forget your mobile has Blue tooth.

The list goes further twenty times than its features.

The best phone I had previously was the Sony Ericsson W710i.

Had got this phone about a week back & had been trying to explore it before being able to come up with a review. Well, honestly, till now I have been a Nokia fan with most my mobile being of Nokia from 5110, 3310 to N73 & this Rokr was purchased in a jiffy on the requirements of my wife.

Well, I will not say that it is the best phone I have used so far, as there are some limitations to it.

- It being a music phone, does not give the output comparable to N73 Music Edition dual speaker phone.
- A lot have said a lot about the not good camera, & I agree to them.
- Scrolling is really slow (of music files) when Real Player is in use.
- 8MB internal memory sometimes seems too limited.

But then, this is not a dedicated multimedia phone. It will be unfair to compare it with a dedicated business or a dedicated entertainment phone. Considering that this one looks to strike a balance between the Business & Entertainment applications, this one comes out real good in doing that.

- The touch pad is real sleek & responsive.
- As told you, that this one was bought on the demand of my wife, who happens to be a designer, this phone obviously has its physical attractiveness.
- One needs to get accustomed with the way the menu & options are navigated in Motorola, but after that, it is quite comfortable to use.
- For one speaker, music quality is not that bad either. Definitely very clear, (although not much depth is reflected in external speaker). The phone rocks with the Headphones.
- Standard headphone output jack is an advantage & gets compatible with a lot of speakers.
- GUI is attractive & fun to use.

Overall, this is a good worth of money. Phone recommended for the 'Jacks of All', I.E. the ones who are looking for a reasonable quality of everything in one.

I bought this one month back I.e. 13th December 2007 after lot of research behind it mainly to use calendar & tasks which is not less than Microsoft outlook. It's design is nice to see & feel trendy to work with it in a stick.

The RISK OF BUYING THIS.

- I expected lot many features which is missing.
- Many media files formats are not supported.
- Physically looking the phone annoys me.
- Online support is not much because it is Linux based.
- Radio will not work in Bluetooth Device.
- Photo quality is really bad.

It's worth spending money. Could anyone help me to use the Barcode reader? Thanks in advance.

OK, this is a great phone but I've had my ROKR for almost a year & it just almost became a very expensive paper weight. The side screen lock switch just gave up without warning with the phone in the screen locked position. I had to take it to a technician yesterday to get him open the phone & 'bridge' the switch with the phone open so I can use it. Now I have to be careful about accidental screen taps & redials. CAN Motorola NOT RELEASE A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO DEAL WITH THIS MALFUNCTION SO YOU CAN LOCK the KEYPAD FROM the SCREEN? Maybe a double tap of the # button or something.

Otherwise I've enjoyed using this phone & its features to an extent. Some simple inconveniences with using it though are:

When you start entering a name in phonebook or starting an SMS, it does not start the names or sentences with uppercase letters, you have to manually shift up. Camera could use a flash. Picture quality is good but not great.

When you save phone numbers in the phone book if you do not save the number with the local area code, when the person calls, it does not recognise their name from the phonebook.

You cannot choose & define which application to lock like you can on the RAZR without locking the phone totally.

The Calendar reminds you a day before for birthdays entered in the phonebook. But if you forget after, there is no Calendar reminder on the day.

Hi all, I kind of like this phone but it has a whole lot of negative points:

- Camera quality is very bad when you zoom in above 2X
- Battery life is very bad. Hardly carries me to the next day
- I wasn't able to find many Touch Screen games or software's specially designed for this phone.

Otherwise very stylish & cheap phone for a PDA. Enjoy all.

Hello Friends, I am here again to tell you few more things about Rokr E6. Rokr's video & audio quality is superb. I am concerned more about video. You can convert any of your video files (mpeg, mpg, wav.) to real media (.rm) by using Moto EzX Video Producer utility (CD). It converts to a compressed rm to a video of 320x240, 12fps, 256Kbps & audio of 44Kbps. Watching this converted rm video in Rokr is amazing & superb. It has a good battery backup when you use multimedia. Dragging the video or MP3 forward or backward is more GUI friendly using stylus. More friendly that using with window media player. I have tried with a video rm file for 1hr (110MB) size after conversion. I didn't feel any problem in scrolling the MP3 files using stylus, its smooth & selecting music from the playlist.

One good feature is that you can turn off/on your network from your Rokr itself. That means if you are roaming or doesn't want to pick any calls. You can use this unique feature & can constantly watch movies & songs without any phone calls (you can save battery discharge too due to network). Rokr replaces iPod!

Rokr's Photo Editor in its menu has a lot of options like adobe Photoshop have (more than paint in windows). You can edit, add comments from the photo you took by its camera or external image, you can write in a blank new image using the stylus & can make your own banners with colour setting, brush & pen. A lot more.

Another unique feature for good sleepers. You can set two alarms at a time & you can set snooze from 1 to 5 or 10 to 15 minutes. So if miss a morning alarm & snooze at 5.00AM, there you can set another alarm at 6:00AM with snooze. This feature is not there in any of the Nokia mobiles.

Call Record can log up to 50 Answered Calls, 50 Missed Calls, 50 Dialled Calls with Start time, Date & Call Duration. In calendar you can set events & Tasks independantly. It's a good business mobile. Message composing, notebook editing, adding contact, photo editing is easy with writing by using stylus. Mail can be sent via Bluetooth or using its own built in modem. Opera browser is good in handling html files. Phone book, Inbox & Outbox capacity are unlimited. You can switch the storing location to memory card, phone memory or SIM card memory. Memory card, SIM Card, Battery have separate slots. SIM card can be taken without removing of the battery (SIM lock). Rokr have an additional internal battery to maintain the time & date, when its main battery is removed. Speed dialling. Voice recoding can be used during phone conversation storage & separate voice storage. Video & Audio recording is unlimited (depends on memory card capacity), quality is good if you watch the video in rokr itself. Rokr have 3 USB modes: Modem, Mass Storage, Web camera. Web camera has good quality like desktop creative webcam, good in video chatting & video conference. You can set Audible timer in Call setting. That means you can set to hear beep sound to you alone in every 50th second of each minute while making outgoing & receiving incoming calls. This feature is very useful for those who are concerned of time to end the call, so you can avoid miss using of extra time in a minute during the phone call. The 1 minute beeper can be changed to 5, 10 or 15 minute beeper. Moreover you can set to display timer for viewing the call duration on screen.

Memory card can be ejected using an option eject (without switching off rokr) & can be inserted with automatic detection like using pen drive in our laptop or desktop.
Phone book is so user friendly unlike Nokia or Sony Ericsson. We have a good control while searching a person's contact & calling from the phone book using stylus as well as using finger touch. Scrolling of the contact lists & MP3 song lists can be done your finger touch itself except message composing unless if you used to or having small finger tip. Dialling a number can easily possible by using your fingers. Stylus is only for style & fast message composing. No need of taking the stylus always if you can do everything with fingers. Stylus is kept in line with phone chassis, so that it is not projected, it acts as an additional lock to your back cover. Stylus is small & is extendable like the radio antenna to get grip in our hand. You can set left & right hand setting in your rokr, a very good mobile for left handed users too.

There are many more features to tell about my Rokr E6, till then bye. Rocks you all. Thanks.

The E6 phone was good with some of the functions available such as MP3, memory & its stylish PDA style touch screen functioning. However, somehow rather the respond of the screen is too slow or jammed up for few seconds. I encounter my phone mother board spoiled within a year of usage. It is quite risky for those who pass the expiry date of warranty.

Rest all this is quite a good phone but the main problem in this phone is the battery backup. If you listen to the songs for continuously 2 hours then it gets down in 3 to 4 hours for which I have to charge it again. & second thing there is no Flash or Auto Flash due to which it is very difficult to take photo or shoot in the dark.

Other than this the phone is OK as it is very stylish & the sounds I get in wireless Bluetooth headset is rocking.

At first I loved this phone when I saw it in the market, then suddenly my cousin bought one also, after the first few weeks its great but here are the flaw's I have noticed:

- Hard time playing mp4 or any other video format it keeps saying 'file limit exceeded'
- Hard to text (especially when you are in a car or anything moving) because it's a touch screen of course & the English keypad makes it worse.
- No themes (as of now).
- the CAMERA IS A DISAPPOINTMENT, has no flash, no auto focusing, you have to be REALLY steady in taking good quality pictures & unless you have good (oh I meant EXCELLENT) lighting the photo is really rubbish!

All & all, it's a great phone the only downside is the media player, camera & texting (when your on the go of course & don't know how to use a keyboard).

I bought my Moto rokr e6 in April 2007 from Guangzhou China. I want to share my experience of this phone.

Good things about phone-
- Thinnest PDA device with touch screen. Good Looks PDA.
- Price is lesser than the other PDA's if you compare.
- Good Camera 2MP.
- the graphics are sound is soothing & not loud & irritating like Nokia phones.
- Bluetooth connectivity & modem works well.
- Share lot of songs, pictures etc in 2 GB card space.
- Java software (jar files) works well on the phone.
- Sound quality is good.
- Signal quality is the best.
- Battery backup is amazing. Moto has worked well on batteries.
- Can use the phone as webcam.

Bad things of phone-
- Lacking of camera flash.
- Can't install sis (symbian base) files.
- SMS is not easy to do with the English keypad.
- Can't install the advanced call manager for blacklist.
- Bar code reader doesn't work properly.

I bought it for RMB (Chinese Yuan) 3000.00 which is around USD 400.
Overall the phone is worth to buy & you will enjoy it.
GOOD LUCK TO Motorola TEAM.

Plus points:

- Really big screen (not pixel 240 x 320 actual visible screen I.e. 2 x 1.5 inch or 5 x 4 centimetres).
- Great arrangement of side buttons (volume + -, zoom for document viewer, play forward backward, camera open & click).
- 2 mp camera (picture 1200 X 1600 max. & video 352 X 288 max.)
- S9 the great Bluetooth device for clarity of sound.
- Nice file management (choice of multiple selection while moving / copying files & folder even in Bluetooth transfer).
- Document viewer with reflow (arrange text automatically to fit everything in page to screen), zoom facility excel word pdf page selection while viewing through scroll bar.
- System never hang even if document viewer, real player is on it takes some time to load a game in above condition but still never hangs.
- Use of phone as a mass storage device/web camera/modem using mini usb.
- Thumbnail preview of video file zoom while video recording.
- Talking phone reads messages too.

Negative points:

- Mechanical phone lock is there, soft lock is there but with screen enable so that with big switch of button while soft lock phone switches off so bad idea of phone lock as mechanical lock is slide key which is too hard to operate.
- No screen cover provided by company very difficult to find protection for this phone in market.
- Instead of web & shortcut key on mobile yes & no key must be there due to that many java games are useless on this phone.
- Only 2 numbers of user defined shortcuts on home screen remaining 3 are fixed & almost useless & only 2 user short cuts are there.
- If anyone forgot to set camera mode switch (micro) then video & picture quality is just like hell as no flash camera is useless in dark
- SD card slot is so loose that there is a chance of card falling out.
- Although not any other application than system is running memory is 43% loaded.
- Battery indication is too bad as it consist of only three bar, we never know actual battery status until you plug it to charger.
- Bluetooth strength weakened near power line / db board.
- Touch screen is battery eater.

I have BEEN USING Nokia PHONES FROM the VERY beginning, BUT I WAS REALLY NOT HAPPY, AS the PHONE has become REALLY COMMON IN the MARKET.

MOTO ROKR E6 IS REALLY A DIFFRENT TYPE OF A PHONE VERY SLIM, HAVING TOUCH SCREEN, & HAS REALLY NICE LOOKS, the BUTTONS ON the SIDE OF the PHONE REALLY HELPS IN EASY FUNCTIONING OF APPLICATIONS LIKE REAL PLAYER, CAMERA, & KEY LOCK.

BUT IT IS REALLY A DIFFICULT TASK TO FIND APPLICATIONS, THEMES & GAMES FOR the PHONE. BUT THEY WILL SOON BE UPLOADED BY SOME OR the OTHER GENIUS. SO I REALLY HAVE ONE THING TO SAY, THAT the PHONE IS REALLY SUPER.

BEST WISHES TO Motorola FOR A NICE PHONE.

Hello Friends, It's a good mobile phone. I have purchased for 13, 450.00 INR (Ordinary) on 9th Sep 2007. Its manufacturing date is May 2007. Before buying the mobile you should see manufacturing date & box seal is not opened. That will ensure your mobile for good battery backup & bug free.

Ordinary pack contains MotoRokr, Wired Motorola Stereo head phone, 1GB microSD card with SD tray, 1000mah battery in separate cover, Motorola Charger, USB Cable & 2CD.

There are 30 songs already stored in my memory card. I faced some problem in navigating the songs by scrolling, it got stuck temporary during scrolling. Actually that was not a problem, I deleted all the 30 songs & freshly loaded 250 MP3 songs. The scrolling works fine with 250 MP3 songs.
Battery backup is 2-3 days without less usage. Don't charge the battery too long as it will kill your battery life. Avoid USB interface frequently as it goes to charging when you plug. Better charge it using ordinary charger when the battery meter indicates 20%. Charge it fully until the charging getting disconnected automatically (2hrs).

The internal features are same of MotoMingA1200. Don't buy Moto Ming-low battery backup, old model (new one is not available in market, battery will discharge in the pack unless it is been used in short period of months), Output MP3 sound & ring sound are very less, Price: 11, 450.00 INR, manufacturing Sept 2006.

Moto Rock really rocks- good business card reader, sound output is more than Sony Ericsson W810i, touch screen response is good, voice clarity is good, 2MP camera is well in outdoor, unlimited voice recording (choose storage location to SD memory), 5Hrs video storage in 3GP with 15fps 320:480 screen resolution (good to see the video in mobile itself).

Internal memory is only 8MB, always choose jar installation to memory card. Try to avoid usage of phone memory. My 1GB card is fully loaded N-Series. It has fabulous features as compared with same price range of Sony Ericson & Nokia. Data transfer is very fast as compared with Nokia N95. I have used N95 for 3 months, but this Rocks having more features than N95 neglecting 5MP camera & video.

Rokr reads .doc, .ppt, .xls & .pdf - but first page can be viewed by its viewer. I need to get other jar application of good reading & editing. FM radio speaker output is very good as compared to N95. MP3 sound from speaker of Rokr is 80% of N95. But in headphones Rokr rocks than N95.

Overall Rokr is worth as compared with the price & competitors.

Rokr premium pack is costing 2750.00INR extra. It contains 2GB card & Motorola S9 Stereo Headphone. Stereo headphone have had lot of bad remarks like non water sweat resistant. Audio lags with video in phone, since the mobile have to handle both Bluetooth & real player. Hand writing precognitions & composing messages in hand writing is very good, fast & stylish.

Asphalt2 Car gaming is very good. Its gaming processing is amazing. I played the game with hearing MP3 in its real player. Two process real player & game handled very well without any lag or sound quality reduction. This shows that it's good enough to handle multi process operation. Same processing in N95 is very shame. Calendar & meeting can be set notified in your Rokr in a good way. It is much user friendly. I will post more feedback later. MotoRokr is worth buying for me.

Regards Kailas Senan.

Great phone for the Linux masters. If you know a little bit of Linux, then there is no limit for the fun that you can have. Here's my phone:

- EDGE enabled.
- QUADBAND enabled.
- Can load new skins & themes.
- Customizable startup/shutdown animation.
- Can play.avi files like a Smartphone.
- Volume table mode for higher volume & more bass.
- Complete reassignment of all the hard key buttons.
- Improved camera shutter speed & white balancing.
- Supports 4GB SD cards (not SDHC though).
- Can edit Ms Excel files (not Ms Word though).
- Gaming console emulators like gPSP & GBA allows you to play most gaming console games (like Game Boy Advance).
- Voice Recognition included.
- CAN EMULATE WINDOWS 3.1 for PCs on the phone. That shows the power of this phone.
- Handwriting application to save handwritten files.

& this is just the beginning. Wait till Motorola release the developer tools for the e6 (promised, but not out yet). Then you can have Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi enabled cards. I also own a N95 but it is nowhere near as fast or as good looking as the e6. The most serious flaw in the e6 is the video recording which is just average when in low light & also, there is no flash. Long live LINUX!

Good phone, Good features. Already discussed all features so I would only like to add that those who are facing the problems of frequent hang ups should check to see if the default memory for photos, video recording is not the phone internal memory. As the internal memory is only 8MB it gets full up soon, hence the problem. So change your settings so that everything gets saved to the external memory card. Also remember to clear the internal memory first.

Enjoy good phoning.

If anyone is interested in knowing the flaws/bugs in this phone then read on.

I have this phone for a week now & I can't help but wonder why the battery backup is so miserable. I get backup max for a day. If you hear music on it, then the battery life reduces to just about 3 or 4 hours. So get ready for frequent recharges. Moreover, the battery indicator never shows the right level. The actual level is known only when you connect it to power socket. Till the time battery becomes dead, the indicator keeps on indicating it is on 100% charge!

E6 also shuts down itself automatically for no reason & it makes me feel miserable to know that I have missed important calls because of this bug. One big thumbs down for this bug!

I have also noticed that the phone gives a ring as soon as you remove it from the power socket while charging & answering a call.

If you don't mind these bugs, E6 is a great phone to have!

I have been using this phone the whole day today, good few hours. There are many things to say. Let's start with negative:

- Glitch with getting a voicemail notification (at least on my network, T-Mobile). When the voicemail message is received, the empty message is sent to the phone with '@' as the body of the message

- It is impossible to say whether you have a voicemail or not, since once you're read this empty notification, there is no sign/blinking to notify that the voicemail is NOT listened to yet

- To enter text is not as comfortable as other touch screens (my hand is really hurting :))

- There is lagging in pressing keys/buttons, seems like a good second lag behind each press, whether multimedia player or pressing around the menus using up/down buttons

- Sound is alright

- Camera is the worst I have seen since the old Samsung I had in 2002. I own a Samsung E730 (came out in 2004 I believe), & the picture quality on E730 is at least twice better. Camera focusing is the worst I have seen. I only owned one Moto phone previously, so hard to compare in terms of other Motos, but comparing to any Samsung/Sony Ericsson it is by far the worst I have seen

- There are numerous glitches while operating, but only a very in depth user would notice it (I used to work as a QA for various cell phones makers, so I am looking deep into that stuff, so I am not going to discuss little things here, hopefully, it will be fixed with firmware updates)

- TERRIBLE mp4 playback: very jerky, sounds lags, video jumps from frame to frame & freezes most of the time (Real fault? Moto fault? File Format? not sure)

- Could not even start playing some MP4, got the message 'file exceeded the limit'

- Problem typing the word which starts with any Capital letter. The recognition does not work on those words & starts recognizing the word from the second letter. Weird, never saw this before in Samsungs & Nokias.

- Cannot change the function of the browser button, but can of the MP3 button, strange. Should be able to change both buttons as user wants. But oh well. It's a Moto design I guess

- I didn't like the whole HomeScreen message functionality. It appears that only the first item scheduled (with time of the event specified by the user) will appear on the HomeScreen by definitely New Events on the homescreen from the Setup menu)

- I also didn't like that there is no way to see on the HomeScreen message how many missed calls & messages there are

Positives:

- I liked the FM function. The channels are found automatically as opposed to Samsung FMs where the user have to search for the new stations manually in most cases

- the sound is mediocre but I have no complaint (listening to Mp3s)

- the phone did not freeze upon opening different applications & switching around them

- Uses standard 3.5 mm, easy to plug in any external speakers in additional to regular headset

- I also liked the bright screen, seems that the resolution is great for the size of the screen (again. Comparing to other phones I have played with or used recently)

- I like the whole Linux idea, new & fresh. I always like new things even though it will take a while to pick up.

- the handwriting when using PhotoEditor sometimes jerks to the side of the screen, but in most cases worked GOOD.

I am definitely for its screen & design. & of course, LINUX.

Don't ever buy it as it is very expensive & I feel its sound quality is not even half as good as Nokia or Sony in that case. It's only for those people who have extra cash.

Start off with the cons:

- One handed texting- Next to impossible

- Music keys arranged a little funny.

- Themes hard to load (as w/ all moto touchscreen mobiles)

- No SDHC Support

Got that out of the way. The design of this phone is pleasing. I like having some hard keys that I can press to quickly get somewhere, as opposed to relying completely on a touch screen. Also, I've managed to mod the Web button to whatever I want as well as having the other custom button. The interface makes sense. The inability to edit office type documents is a downer, but I wasn't expecting a UMPC. EDGE does work on this model, but it has to be added on, which voids the warranty. Overall, this is a great phone for the current prices. Future firmware updates can change all of the cons, excluding the oddly placed music keys. I'd recommend this phone to anyone. It's good for business purposes & for personal use.

This phone is fantastic! Love the GUI design & speed. Can't wait till downloadable software is available!

Where's the voice recognition? As with all new moto cellphones. The preloaded ringtones get worst & worst with every new model! Be prepared to make your own.

Good:
Chine-English dictionary works well - very good handwriting recognition. The Chinese dictionary is a bit too restricted though.

Many operations (such as file deletion & sharing) can be applied on multiple objects at once, you don't have to repeat tedious tasks manually.

Bluetooth works great.

The calendar allows repeated, regular events, but it isn't possible to copy & paste events. The menu structure can be arranged in many ways, & file lists can be sorted on different criteria's (although 'reversed' order isn't possible). It is also possible to define the function of one hard-key, & arrange shortcuts to several soft-keys.

The camera & video is quite average in quality - nothing special.

The Business card reader is quite capable in handling both English & Chinese correctly.

The user interface is very logical & intuitive.

There are lots of user configurable options (but I'd like even more).

Disadvantages:
It doesn't seem possible to disable the camera shutter sound.

There is no Linux shell prompt.

Increasing ring volume isn't supported.

It isn't possible to tell the E6 to automatically switch to upper-case characters at the beginning of sentences.

Some settings (such as color scheme) are limited to build-in options only.

As usual, it is difficult or impossible to enter some odd characters (Å, ä, ö etc.).

Bugs:
When the E6 is set to read (voice) the entered digits when dialing, the first digit isn't played. Also, it reads in Cantonese, even if set to mandarin. It reads English when set to English language though.

If you write a character, then presses the quick-key to get a whitespace, the whitespace is output before the character you wrote!

I haven't been able to surf to an https (encrypted), & the manual doesn't give any clue.

When translating from Chinese to English, there are two loudspeaker-icons but both of them reads the translation in English. Would be smarter if one reads English & the other reads Chinese!

Cool mobile, impressive battery life compared to similar mobiles, big and touch screen, audio player keys, FM radio & Linux.

It has great features that others smartphones don't have.

Cons: Price, little bit slow.
