Best phone I have ever owned. Beautiful to hold & navigate single handily. Superb QVGA screen with bright & clear colours, viewable over a wide angle. Camera is excellent outdoors in daylight but a bit poor indoors. Video recording not great but I don't really use this anyway. The standard mini USB connection allows access to the memory card easily & with the lovely display it's great for carrying tons of digital photos around with you, though the inability to use nested folders is a bit of an inconvenience (rather than a real problem) & the music playback is great too. Ringtones need to be selected with care though as anything mellow or quiet isn't going to be heard, especially if, like me, you carry the thing around in your trouser pocket. Bluetooth is reliable but slow, & hammers the battery more than it should. The battery life itself is very poor (around 48 hours at best), as others here have pointed out & yes, I have experienced a few annoying crashes & freezes with it (most often this occurs when using the camera) I bought the phone about 3 years ago on Orange & it's been great right up until last week when I had it unlocked so I could change networks to O2, & ever since then it's been giving a bit of trouble. The main one is that the damn thing has developed a tendency to turn itself off while it's in my pocket, leading to missed calls & texts. The other post-unlocking gripe is the fact that it often freezes solid while accepting incoming calls. I am not sure if this is a fault with the phone itself or if something got broken during the unlocking process, but it never did this in the three years it was on Orange. This is a real shame because I really do love this phone. Incidentally, many years ago, I owned a Motorola V3588 & that was on BT Cellnet (which is now O2) & this had exactly the same tendency to switch itself off while in my pocket, is there some issue involving Motorola phones on O2?

This is a Fantastic High END handset that on the whole is problem free, the battery life is shorter than that of a Nokia but by all means usable the music player & speakers are sensational the best I have ever seen on a handset let alone a Moto handset.
The Web browser is clear & crisp & runs opera mini & skype BETA not Skype handset but does run Skype Beta on 3 & resume & suspends apps which is useful. Great for videos & the camera is really good for a 2MP camera, I have Nokia 6288 & LG U400 this has the best camera of the 3, some issues with entering passwords on websites but other than that a really good all rounder with above average looks & usability certainly worth a look into.

I have had my Motorola for nearly 2 years. It started out well but soon turned to rubbish it thought my problems where bad but after reading other peoples problems mine aren't as bad as theres, but my phone is still rubbish, it freezes says no reception I have to take out memory card to use it if I don't it says no card it doesn't receive texts.

Never have I had such a bad phone.
- Battery life is useless.
- Keypad freezes.
- Volume too low to have a conversation outside or hear it ringing.
- Predictive text totally hopeless.
- Signal strength drops out causing calls to be cut off & text messages not to be sent.
- Side buttons far too sensitive & useless.
- Screen & body scratches far too easily.
- Menu structure really weird & not user friendly.
- If you set the 3G to auto & there is not 3G signal the phone won't automatically change over to 2G & just shows no signal.
- Vibrating is a joke. You can only feel it vibrate if you are holding it.
I wasted 2 days to get my phone to talk to my PC as I had to wade through countless pages of data on Motorola's site to find cause of connection problems & correct updates. I am technically savvy so imagine the difficulties someone would have if they're not a techo.
Two Replacements in 3 months each with the same & other faults. Many more faults but don't want to waste any more time with this thing.
Oh yes, it does have a good to do list & the MP3 player isn't bad either. But I didn't buy this phone for these, I bought it just to use as a phone.
Motorola have totally got this phone wrong & has put me off Motorola for life & looking at other reviews I'd say its put many more off. I've gone back to my trusty old Nokia which works perfectly.

I had this phone for about half a year. I bought it from Vodafone for a very low price in 2007 (125 Euros). I brought it home took to the service, & unlocked it. In my opinion this phone is not good. The sound quality is good but the volume is a mess, sometimes I didn't even hear when it was ringing. The main buttons after some time of usage had a lot of bugs! You must have to press over 2 times to enter the menu! But the main problem are the volume buttons that are made of rubbish, after some time of usage they didn't work at all! The photo camera is rather good, but the video camera is bad, it was like 0.3 Megapixels! In comparison with other phones this is rubbish!

I've had this phone for two years. It's small, medium weight, solid built (several drops & still fine), & two wonderful cameras. It's only 2MP, but considering the release (2005) is a bargain now (even the iPhone is also 2MP & no LED, not to mention the size). Near pictures when still are perfect in daylight (I quit using my camera with this phone indeed). However poor lit pictures or far ones are not OK because LED is not that bright. Besides, if you like video calling, you'll amaze (second internal camera with VGA resolution how many ones are so now?). No radio but Bluetooth & MP3 (though with mini USB jack). So, if you're looking for something free or cheap, & expect from a phone but calling, video calling & taking common pictures (even auto timed pictures that can be taken without holding the phone simply because it's a flip one & fixes well on a surface when opened), go for it without hesitation.
I am now trying to upgrade because I love photography & long for a better pixel resolution in my phone (also proper flash). & believe me, I can hardly find any phone 5MP VGA video calling & pockety if not paying more than 300 Euros unlocked & still, not that well built this one is. The Motorola V3x is still an incredible handset.

Absolute trash. Too many faults to list but my phone developed a weird fault which was the last straw. After 3 months of thinking every day, will I throw it out the car window at high speed, I turned my phone on one day & an error message appeared on the LCD screen which read Battery error, no battery installed. The phone continued to work in its Motorola way but the message randomly appeared each day.
How on earth can a battery powered device power up a message without a battery installed is beyond me. This confirmed to me that Motorola phones are purely & simply junk. The fact that a Motorola technician designed this error message is of major concern.

Turned out to be the worst phone I ever owned. Looked good in the marketing literature & advertising, but failed to deliver where it counts, reliability. There is not enough space here to list the issues we had with this phone. We bought 6 of these pieces of rubbish for our new start up business & had issues from day one that the manufacturer & distributor refused to give us assistance with. I will never buy anything with the Motorola logo on it again after this experience of pathetic after service care. They say that when someone has a bad experience they tell up to 20 people about their bad experience. Well I've told significantly more people than that.

I got my phone 3 months ago & it was fine. It had battery problems but I could live with that. Now however it goes white & I can't do anything. It reckons there's no service AS IF! It's just so bad.
It was all well to live with because it would usually get better. Tonight I find my Motorola blank I can't use it now I hate it so much!
I was never brutal with it, it responds when I plug the charger in but still no screen I will never own a Motorola again.
Now I have to look for a new phone.

Problems with my phone.
- Freezes on average every second phone call.
- Freezes when typing text's.
- Alarm does not always go off, even when set correctly.
- Battery lasts a day & a half with minimal usage.
- Freeze after playing a game.
- Randomly turns itself on.
- New problem it now has. Won't turn on (I occasionally get the screen to light up then it freezes & turns off).
In summary, this is by far the worst phone I have ever owed. I would never by a Motorola again, ever! I have had nothing but problems since day one, & as the phone got older the problems got worse & worse.

It started off not too bad, after a few weeks would reboot & switch off for no reason. Now it exits whatever I am doing meaning phone calls are cut off & messages are lost.
I have hardly anything stored on the phone & any texts sent to me won't come through because it says my memory is full. Have taken it to be repaired 4 times overall before I gave up.
Also it is a bit chunky & when in my pocket the side buttons tend to be pressed whenever I move an inch. Basically it's rubbish.

The V3x looks great, has loads of features but as a phone it's totally useless. Motorola has put so much effort into its looks, non phone features like MP3 player (which is fantastic), 2 mega pixel camera, calendar, to do list (which is better than the Nokia) but have forgotten that the main purpose of the V3x is a phone.
The volumes are so low that you can't hear it ringing if you're in a shopping mall or the phones inside & you're outside. You can only feel the phone vibrating if you're holding it & forget about having a phone conversation in the shopping mall as you won't be able to hear the person you're speaking to.
Predictive text is totally useless. The phone has a nanosecond memory for remembering words you've put into its memory so you may as well not use that feature.
The keypad sometimes freezes & you may only work when you hit the red button & go back to the beginning of where you started, it's like playing monopoly & having to go back to jail.
Battery life is OK if you don't mind charging it every second day & I had to replace the battery within 3 months of purchasing as it was faulty.
The V3 has a really neat aluminium body but the V3x gets a very scratchable case which looks old well before its time.
I could write a very lengthy report on this phone both good but mainly bad, but have wasted enough time with this thing called a phone. So I am going to through it in the bin & look for something that can be used as a phone. My phone was not just a one off as I bought one phone & returned it to the store the same day due to several faults & the one I was given as a replacement later ended up with entirely different faults.

Although it is a good phone to use, the battery life is very poor. Another problem is its sound. The audio player sound & also the ring volumes are too much feeble when compared with some other same quality or even very low quality mobile phones. Another problem I faced is that when I use memory card it is not working properly. Any think on the card cannot be seen after some hours.
But another good feature is its picture quality it is very excellent & fantastic. The sound is very poor I would say it for the second time.

After using this phone for like 2 months, I am seriously giving up on it. For starters, I never did like the design much. It was too bulky for me to slide in my pocket. It could be slimmer.
Texting with this phone is not really that bad. I mean, it's better than V3 that's for sure. (It takes years before I can type a single sentence with my v3 phone.) & yes, the side buttons are so damn annoying.
Multimedia features aren't that good either (Music, Videos.)
Oh yeah, my phone right now is undergoing that Emergency Only phase, which means that it's practically useless. : (.

I've had this phone 18 months, which is unusual for me, went through 3 in 6 months prior to getting the razor on contract from 3. It's been dropped on many occasions even bounced across the road & its rubber type casing protects its brilliantly, had no problems with flaking case as some have commented on. Had problem with phone turning itself off but think this had to do with me operating functions too quick & phone just overloaded. It has excellent memory, 18 months & I still haven't managed to fill it. Found slight sound distortion after about a year, could b due to it been bounced. Overall it's a good all round phone & would recommend it to anyone. I have just upgraded & feel guilty already for replacing my faithful, useful, trustworthy Mate. Only disadvantage I found was its slightly bulky, not very feminine, definitely but still is better than the 3 pink trendy phones it replaced.

Reviewer: Matt - Melbourne, Australia
Date: 3rd Feb 2008
Design, Yeah that's pretty good!
Features, Plenty of those.
Usability, Woeful, pathetic, defective & dreadful.
Let's start with the irritating buttons on the side. If you sit down in a chair when it's in your jeans pocket, it adjusts something. On occasion I switched it from Vibrate & Ring mode to Silent which is total stupid & unacceptable. But it hardly mattered. If I was in a room with a moderate amount of background noise, the ringer was barely audible & the vibration mechanism was useless. More missed calls that I can count.
Then let's move onto the technical defects on this phone.
- the white screen & rebooting. Flip open the phone & about 1 in 15 times, you get this & when it reboots, it sometimes did not function any as none of buttons did anything. Taking out the battery & start again was the only solution.
- Call drop outs, yep you're mid sentence, stop for a response from the person on the other line & it's gone dead. You look at your phone & the call has somehow ended. That's great, especially when you receive international calls on occasion.
- Freezing, yes, another one where you need to take out the battery & put it back in. Otherwise it doesn't work.
- Call failed, you dial the number. Call Failed. You dial again Call failed. You wait one minute, try again & it calls no problem.
- Predictive sms text is more frustrating & error prone than helpful.
- the battery life is a joke. 36 hours or so is about as much as you get & on standby, you may get an extra 12 hours or so.
- the menu is confusing & illogical at times. Connecting using Bluetooth nearly required a degree in astrophysics. & I am pretty good with technology so I don't believe that anyone worked it out on the first shot.
These technical issues are not just me. Look around the net & just about every site with user reviews gives it a panning & reports the same issues, which means it's a common product DEFECT! The kind of phone that will put you off Motorola's forever.
I've had it repaired (apparently), though it made no difference. After 15 months, it finally died & a quick survey of my friends who had this phone reveals that my lasted a remarkably long time by comparison. A very bad problem given that, in Australia, your phone contract is usually 24 months & your warranty is only 12 months.
The only thing it did well was as a portable modem, plugged into the laptop. But beyond that, it fails miserably as a PHONE (remember people? these are mobile phones first & foremost). SMS is unnecessarily difficulty & call connection & software stability is so questionable that it makes one wonder whether Motorola realised at some point that these were riddled with technical issues but figured they'd take the gamble on returns & pumped them into the market anyway. That's how bad it is.
But for all the airheads out there who think that a phone should be judged according to how good the phone is by looking at all its features & how good the camera is (rolling my eyes) I hope this phone satisfies you. If you're looking for something that reliably connects telephone calls, look elsewhere & avoid Motorola altogether.
Whenever a friend of mine breaks or loses their phone, the old one in the closet is always a Nokia, they last for years. I have never seen anyone pull an old Motorola out of the closet as a backup phone. Short life phones all round.

OK, well this is my first mobile phone & I was SO excited to get it because I'd heard it was really good. After a couple of months the camera had gone blurry but I fixed that. It doesn't look that great, quite big quite a bit TOO big. For some reason now when I close my phone it's like it's staying open? This may have something to do with me trying to glue something onto my phone & that nearly brought it too its death (I wish! ) but it really annoys me because when my phones been shut for about minutes it goes onto screensaver & then once it goes black which it's supposed to do if it's been open for ages I have to push a button when I open it so the screensaver stops! So now I can't push the side buttons too check what time it is I have to open it & press a button. Anyhow, I think my rant is over now, I am sure I had lots more bad things to say about it, but everyone has their own opinion, which mine is I wasted 300 or so dollars of my money that I & all of us mainly work for & I am not really impressed with it at all.

Overall this phone is disappointing & extremely temperamental. My first Motorola after having very reliable & enduring Nokia's, so hasn't left a good impression. I've had to replace it only after 8months of use as it has white screened permanently after being dropped. I don't know how many times I've dropped my Nokia's & they always keep working. Turned it on, it said hello, then went black screen, white screen, black screen, white screen then said no service, took me to my menu screen then turned off. It does this blinking on & off 4 times then powers off. The no service is a crock. I have a 4 year old Panasonic & a 2 year old Nokia both on Vodafone & they are going perfectly fine. Orange replaced both battery & phone with rubbish replacements that gave up the ghost days after the guarantee expired! (isn't it amazing how often that happens! ) You can guess the rest. I am now looking for a new phone & still have five months to run on the Orange contract. The keypad is excellent for oldies like me. I also liked the weight of the phone, giving it a solid feel. Hi all, I purchased my phone in June 2006, so I've had it for almost a year & a half now. In summary, the phone is OK. I mean it does have its up & its downs.
Ups:
- Simple & easy to use, even though, to me, some of the previous Motorola phones were a bit tedious.
- Quite durable for a flip phone I must say, being a civil engineer working on construction sites, I am pretty sure you can imagine that once I dropped it I'd be staring at it on the floor & thinking, OK it's long gone now. Fortunately, it's fine.
- PC suite is quite good & easy to use.
- the battery can, to date, last up to 2 days, & again, being on construction sites means that I do make plenty of calls!
- Lovely keypad.
- Good with word recognition & completion while texting.
Downs:
- Camera is terrible at night & the light (it's not a flash) gives the ghost look. However its works pretty well in daylight.
- Off course the peeling of its rubber casing is fact
- For about 2 weeks, for no apparent reason, the phone would keep restarting while trying to use the messaging features, & the problem disappeared on its own (I have no idea what that was).
- It SOMETIMES cuts off during calls.
These comments are pretty much all I can think of. To make a long story short, it's a simple phone & despite some its faults, I can't say I regret buying in, nor can I say that it's an amazing phone.
Recommended for people that need something simple & not with the highest expectations! 7.5 out of 10. Enjoy.

For the last 11 years I've always had Nokia phones so the Motorola brand was new to me. Initially I thought I made a huge mistake getting the Motorola as the menu structures are not very logical & couldn't figure out how to change the basics of settings. However, after spending a whole day figuring out how the thing works & making a couple of return visits to the Vodafone store to get some settings changed I now really do like it.
The screen is great as are the video, camera & particularly the calendar (which is better than the Nokia). I've finally got used to how the predictive text works & find it faster than the Nokia.
Minor complaints are
- Keypad. You have to hit a key in the right place as either nothing will happen or you'll have hit the wrong key. Lighter tactile feel buttons would fix this.
- the battery saver which turns off the keypad lights through a light sensor can be annoying in certain lights but it's just a case of getting used to it.
- If you don't need 3G turn it off as it will save your battery. Mine's gone 5 days so far & battery indicator is 75% full.
Loving it.

I have had my phone now for nearly 2 years works well but sound is rubbish & the glass over the lens started falling out after about 2 weeks. I removed it in the end & later learned it was a common problem. Just gone out & replaced it with a Nokia n95-2 with 8GB card. No comparison the Nokia far better.

Design looks great but that's where it stops with this phone. Since I've got it I've had it replaced 3 times in 6 months & no. I don't throw it about, I actually keep it in a cover. Sad, some may say but it is the only way to protect the bug-ridden thing!
On all the phones I've had the screen keeps crashing & turning white. Sometimes even turning it on & its white already. I only make calls & text occasionally, & it can't even do that without messing up. Missed calls aren't shown & sometimes it cuts out in the middle of speaking to someone.
I thought it was just my horrible luck but I read a newspaper article about how 65% of Motorola's V3 were returned. That doesn't comfort me much but at least I know for the future that I'll never get a Motorola again.

I bought this phone a couple of months ago. (August 15, 2007). At first, when I saw the phone, I WAS SHOCKED because the picture was too blurry. So I asked the shop to fix it there.
DAY one - I was so excited to bring my phone home! I took pictures. The pictures are not half bad.
DAY two - I HATED IT! The rubber matting on the cover is peeling.

I absolutely loved this phone when I first got it, I had people all over asking me about it, it is absolutely lovely looking & I couldn't have been more pleased. I am getting close to having this phone for a year & it is turning into rubbish. Although I am extra careful with this phone because it is so beautiful, it is more scratched than my cats scratching post! The camera is absolutely horrible, it freezes up, & takes forever to turn off & just takes rubbish pictures no matter what the lighting situation may be. It often freezes up for no reason & the only way to turn it off is to take the battery right out. The side buttons rarely work, it seems the only time they do work is when they're in my bag then they start calling people! GRR! The screen is constantly filthy, I gave up on cleaning it as I found myself doing it about 10 times a day! My on/off/end button no longer works for who knows what reason! It dropped calls all the time. Speakers are horrid! When I try to listen to my music it sounds like a tin can or rats clawing at my speakers & I don't even have it on loud! The video feature is a joke, it's so slow I might as well be turning the pages of a flipbook animation slowly & to top it all off now, it likes to turn off whenever it feels. This usually occurs in the middle of a phone call which is extremely annoying & is now happening about 20 times per day no lie! Help me! I love this phone but its breaking my heart!

I do not like the size & weight of it, although it has some good features although I did have to extend the memory by buying a memory card so I could store music & photos on it. I have had this phone for the best part of a year on a contract & although I have enjoyed it, I can't wait to get rid of it!
- Major problem is the battery, lasts a day if lucky & that has been since day 1.
- Nice big colour screen, but always looks dirty from the imprints off the rubber on the keypad.
- The Java apps, including the audio player, stopped working altogether.
- Easily scratched & I rarely drop it or am clumsy with it.
- The buttons on the side (volume control, camera & voice activator) get accidently pressed all the time when it's in my bag, sometimes rings people which is a pain.
- When I first had the phone, it used to send me a message when I had a missed call instead of displaying it as a list. This began to annoy me as it was cluttering my inbox. I changed the setting to stop this feature, but since then it hasn't told me of missed calls & I can't find anything to change this , very annoying as I hate not getting back to people.
I am looking for a new phone at the moment, definitely looking at a Nokia or a Samsung, not a Motorola!

OH MY, oh my, 2 days left of an 18 month contract & I can't wait to find an inventive way to end this phone's time on earth. Like everyone else I have experienced less than average performance from this phone.
- Not being able to close the flip without running the risk of it white screening (what's the point of having a flip phone!).
- Non existent battery life.
- The charming message 'removed some settings may be changed' (WHAT?).
- (my personal favourite problem) Scrolling through the photos that have been taken with far more patience that should be required, only to have the whole thing lock up & freeze. Then not being able to turn it off to reset it & when I've taken the drastic yet necessary step of removing the battery, not being able to turn it back on.
I do take some comfort in knowing that I am not the only person to have experienced these problems. The people at the phone shop would have me believe that the problems I was having were 'user error'. The only user error that this phone is going to experience is the damage a user will use with frustration.

Initial period of phone was great, the speaker or ringer got so quiet I could not hear it, missed phone calls, battery life was 2 days tops if I did not use it. The phone went in for repair 4 times, had system refreshed 3 times, had the software for downloading contacts both way, so downloaded contacts sent phone in for repair & when I finally got it back upload contacts (this is where Motorola shine) they get the phone number from another person & reassign it to some one else. So when people ring the wrong caller id shows up, not to mention it managed to lose lots of contact & locked up the PC numerous times, I managed to get a full refund after 7 months of owning it, now got a Sony Ericsson & love it.

When I received my V3x I thought I had the latest & greatest well I was totally taken in by the Ozzie hype.
My first bill was 10 pages long! The phone was requesting /sending 1K bytes of data every minute! Tech's at the shop couldn't work out the problem so they switched off the 3G part. Why have 3G? Good on batteries after switching off one receiver 900 MHz 3G part. Advice, turn ON Bluetooth only when you need it then OFF again. Battery lasts twice as long.
Locks up during SMS that many times I've lost count. Camera is ordinary & like others, your pocket starts talking if the buttons are accidentally pressed.
Lucky I have another phone because the V3X is totally dead after leaving it on charge over night to find it DEAD! The next day. Only 7 months old. Going back to the Telstra shop for repairs this week. Probably tell me I've damaged it or same other excuse to cover for an unreliable phone.

First day noticed battery cover on the back doesn't fit properly despite getting person in the shop to exchange. From there, hopeless battery life despite the proper initial charge. Why did I ever change from a Nokia. Whole menu & structure is counter-intuitive.
Side buttons are always getting in the way so my trousers are always going 'say a command'.
Calls drop out. PC connection doesn't work. Low charge alarm can't be switched off. Then that stupid pulsing light keeps me awake. Just as well cos the alarm doesn't work.
I'd ring Motorola to complain but the battery would last long enough.

BAD
- the Keypad light only works occasionally & then for no reason stops working half way through a message
- the predictive text is awful, it doesn't remember a thing
- It turns on to mute all the time for no reason
- It freezes constantly
- the ringtones fade in & out
- the MP3 player is really bad (just buy a ipod)
- the voice dial on the side of the phone is really flimsy & any bump will activate it & ring people (big phone bill)
- I have to constantly clean the screen because it is always dirty
- the battery life is really poor & lasts a day & a half if lucky
- the rubber that separates the screen from the keypad is no good & I have indents all over the screen from the keypad
GOOD
- the camera is decent
- the Bluetooth is fairly fast

It is only now that the phone camera locks up & I think that is probably my fault for being clumsy (& occasionally drunken enough to drop on floors).

Well this is the straw that broke the camels back. After contending with the poor battery life, irritating low battery noise that cannot be silenced, (& which is constantly on due to having no battery life! ), flawed Bluetooth interface, pathetic volumes from rear speaker with music, terrible learning program for writing messages, damage to the external chassis & covers just from looking at it the wrong way, no radio (not that it matters cos you wouldn't be able to hear it) & now a huge split in the glass on the outside & I didn't even have the phone on my person! Forbid if I had ever dropped it. & to add insult to injury the 3G network is only on maybe 10% of the time, voice calls lose quality over a short time & will cut out half the time anyway!
I never hear the ring tone as a result of the weak drivers & spatial bass mode is a complete joke! HAHA. The screen & number pad seems to harbour dirt & grease like a bogan mechanic, resulting in scratches & a blurry main screen.
So I went to the 3 shop to see how they would take care of my problem & even though the phone is only 6 months old & already ruined not through harsh treatment or intentional misuse, the answer was tough luck you are in our contract for another year & you can just deal with it.
I would not recommend this model to anyone & would be dubious picking up another Motorola. LEMON.

I hate this phone I've had it for 11 months & I am so looking forward to next month when I get my upgrade & I am able to hit the V3X with a hammer & leave Motorola for good.
I hate the text messaging- if you miss spell a word I found I have to delete the whole word if I can't be bothered to turn the predictive text off.
I hate the games menu- I am with Vodafone & they give you a load of demo games which can not be deleted at all, I've contacted Motorola to ask if they can & they say 'no'.
I hate the camera- I have found that I have to hold the camera for a couple of seconds at the subject after I've pressed the button, when you press the button & the image comes up on the screen you would think that's the image your going to get, but NO. When you are asked if you want to save the image you say yes the image changes which I have found very annoying.
I hate the left side button- which controls the ring settings, if have found that it changes the settings when it's in my pocket.
I hate the right side bottoms- with controls the camera, I find every time I use my thumb to open the phone I end up turning the camera on.
I hate the plastic screens- which are starting to come off (I sent to first one I got back to Vodafone because of this reason) & it shows up finger prints far too easily.
I hate the fact it doesn't have a count down timer so I don't know how long my food has left to cook - okay not really important but all the other phones have had this feature.
I've read that people are having trouble with the battery, mines been fine to be honest. I have had my phone crash on me far too many time to count on twenty peoples hands.
But all in all I hate the phone but I do like the design which is why I chose it.

This phone has been an absolute disaster for me. Had it for 6 months (got it free but through a supplier that no longer exists so I haven't been able to send it back).
The problems I have had with it are:
- Very poor signal pull in
- Even with signal bars showing near full strength call can still go straight through to voicemail without ringing
- Locking up contacts if you save a received call number to contacts
- Screen going white then locking
- Freezing mid process
- Bleeping noise during calls, then locking
- Very poor battery life - sometimes dying within a couple of hours a re-charging & with no usage in the interim
- Switching off then refusing to re-start for hours
- Finally it has switched off & refuses to restart at all (though I can get it operating if I connect it to my PC - weird).
The only reasons I have stuck with it so long are I stupidly thought it would get better & I loved its voice-dialing facility.
I am sort of relieved it has finally died. May it melt away, never to be seen again!

I've had this phone for about a year now, & the only problem I've had is battery endurance, so I got a larger battery that came with a new back cover.
It's been fault free, the camera takes good pictures as long as you don't use the zoom, nothing has broke or fallen off, it doesn't seem to scratch at all, & the only scuff on it is from where I dropped it.
The only criticism I have are the buttons on the side - they need to be on the top half of the shell a la V3i.

The build quality is very poor. The clear lens cover on the front comes off - we have two of these phones & it has happened to both of them. What happens when the cover lifts off is that it gets in the way of the hinge & you can't open the phone. This happened to me one morning & I used too much force to try to open it & the hinge broke. The phone ended up in the bin. If you have one, I suggest you secure the lens cover with superglue. If you don't have one, then don't buy one.

At first I was thrilled when I got this phone - it's very stylish. Within 48 hours the first scratch appeared. I've had it 5 months now & it is covered in them. The alarm doesn't always go off when it's supposed to - I overslept yesterday because of it. After ending a call by flipping the phone shut it turns itself off. I have to press call end first.
Then there's the dreaded white screen & 'no network coverage' or 'emergency only'! How annoying! Suffers from terrible signal reception wherever I am! Quality of voice calls is average at best.
Video quality is excellent, but the camera is quite simply abysmal! Only use it if you want to take a picture of something perfectly still in perfect lighting conditions. Night vision is non-existent.
Then there's text messaging. Usually when I am in the middle of composing a text & I get an incoming call, it offers the option of saving the text to drafts. Not always! You type a very long text, spending ages doing it, and then you get a call, & noooooooooooo! The text has gone. Ages typing it for nothing!
Overall, I was very disappointed with the V3x, & I am on an 18 month contract. To quote Homer Simpson, Doh!

I bought this phone 12 months ago after being quite jealous of my gf's razor. Thinking the phone was going to be of similar size to its original counterpart, it's a bit of a brick! My own fault I know I should have considered taking notice of the dimensions more.
What can I say it has everything you need & the functions are all excellent except however it can be 'somewhat' troublesome to actually use the long list of functions.
Firstly you notice the battery life! If you buy this phone make sure you take your recharger with you. For me the first thing to go was the buttons, at first I hoped they were just sticking, now my volume up button & my right button no longer work (haven't for approx 9 months) & the off button needs a lot of patience, although the battery can be sure to run out quickly so I guess no real need for that button really. Oh yes that is unless I need to switch it on!
10 - 20 years ago the idea of a phone crashing would be completely absurd, nowadays Motorola make me watch in amazement everyday! The future is here in the form of white screens, blue lights, cracked screens, messages that send forever but never get there, maybe if I just switch it off & on again. Damn 'off' button.
One thing for it though its always managed to make calls, which I know of course is what a phone is meant to do but if a Swiss army knife was just for sharpening pencils & the tin opener or corkscrew didn't work there would be a lot of hungry sober unhappy campers.
The torment is over however, yes I now draw a close to my rambling now & for me yippee my contract is over at last. I will not get a Motorola again for a while until I have no choice but to.

Oh how I wish I'd read these reviews before getting myself into an 18 month contract with Three for this phone. Having spent literally hours on the phone to India I am no further forward. I have the following problems - it turns itself off randomly, white screen & 'no service', it goes to a black screen with 'Boot Loader' in white writing. Oh I could just go on & on! Please do not buy this handset. Honestly, it's not worth it! I intend unlocking my trusty Nokia for the duration of this contract.

I have been using this Motorola for 5 months now. Yes battery need to be better (charge every 48 hours with average 75 minutes talk a day). Display is wonderful. Camera is wonderful too. No white screen problems at all. Video call is really wonderful, it should be better on shocks! The external plastic started to scratch, some complains about the mobile switching off when it is on, I believe it needs a strong signal. Can not be used for more than 2 years as the scratches will seem too bad.

Yes when it's on, don't know why it works better when charging but I can't walk around with my car or my house!

So so pretty. So so useless. I was late for work on Monday, the alarm didn't go off. It didn't go off the next 2 mornings either but by then I had powered up my old Nokia & was using that as a back up alarm. After years of using Nokias I allowed myself to be seduced by the pretty Motorola. I now really regret it. Here is my list of complaints:
1. Predictive text is USELESS. No logic. No function to learn words (makes swearing in a text difficult). I have never once written 'cu' in a text (I use punctuation & grammar in texts, deal with it) yet every time I type 2-8 I get cu instead of at. 4 become H. I don't like the way it sometimes switches to the combination you used last & other times doesn't. I like my predictive text to go me-of-whatever not me sometimes, of sometimes & od others depending on the temperamental whims of the V3X. It means I have to watch the screen when I text which is bad.
2. Alarm, what is the point in having an alarm on a phone if it doesn't go off? I haven't owned an alarm clock for years as I always use my cell & suddenly I am stuck with an expensive phone that won't wake me up in the morning. Nonsense.
3. Ring styles, in theory my phone is set up so at night it rings on the lowest volume if someone calls me & doesn't beep for text messages. WRONG! It screams at full volume if someone calls me & I am constantly being woken up by text message beeps. Again, useless.
4. Battery life, I do a lot of work in the outdoors & my mobile phone is my main link to civilisation. Looks like I will be taking my Nokia on trips to the outdoors & keeping the pretty thing as an emergency back up. Another gripe is the blue light pulsing when the phone is being charged. I normally charge up at night & I have to bury the phone under clothes so my room isn't lit up by an unearthly blue glow all night.
So. In conclusion, don't buy this phone. I wish I had read this before I wasted $400 on it. I've phoned Motorola a couple of times about these issues. First time I was told to do a master reset which improved things for half a day. Now I am being told to do a software update which involves spending another $100 on data cable & software which didn't come with the phone. If the software reset doesn't help I am not sure what I will do but some poor call centre employee in Australia is probably going to get the brunt of it. Stick with Nokia people, Motorola have a lot to learn.

I Just got the V3X RAZR & although I did initially have concerns about the slightly too big keypad & the width of the phone (Not as thin as it looks on tv! )- discovering the 2 megpix camera & the 64 mb of space, as well as the deeelightful polyphonic rings kinda captured my heart & I've been admiring it for the past 8 hours now. (a bit obsessivly I'll admit, & snapping at ppl who try to get their grubby paws on it for a closer look). It compensates for its slightly bulky appearance by being suprisingly & pleasantly light, & once its flipped open you understand what they mean by slim & sleeeeek!
So its wide, but handlable.I LOVE the speakerphone, Very nice! You can actually check yer messages while yer on hold! & probably other crazy wild things. Lemme check! Its 8X zoom for chrissake, that's blinkin impressive! The pic clarity is Very good, altho the background Can seem a bit blurry- could be the wind though! Navigating around is pretty basic & easily understandable, & the colours & clarity &. OK I am overwhelmed, I've had other phones includin the Sony g610 & a huge fancy Nokia for a brief while, but this is definitely fav so far:)
the above comments by others abt white nosie & battery life sound valid, but the rest of it sounds like rubbish to me; you should probably read the user manual & handle this gem of a phone more carefully!

Bad-the battery life is shocking & the phone can be very unreliable. Also when I connect it to my PC it doesn't work very well or doesn't work at all

This is a classic TRIUMPH OF DESIGN OVER FUNCTIONALITY
I have to say I LOVE the design of all the RAZR series & was very pleased when a 3G version the V3x was launched
Having used it for just six months however I have to say that as a phone it is UTTERLY WORTHLESS!
What's good about it?
The design LOOKS very sleek, as an object to look at it is very sleek indeed, if you never need to actually use it for its intended purpose it remains a very sleek phone, the camera is not bad, the signal strength is impressive for a phone with no protruding aerial too
What's bad about it?
I was initially very impressed with the overall feel of the handset, most of it felt sturdy & well engineered, but then I noticed the flimsy black plastic battery cover! WHAT ON EARTH? I could not believe the whole sturdy feel had been utterly ruined by this thin slice of low grade cheapo poor quality plastic! When texting with one hand the pressure from your fingers causes it to emit a highly amusing CREAKING sound! People laughed at me if I text with one hand!
Next worse thing is the lack of battery life, unless you are a hermit with no friends to text or speak to you will surely get less than a day's standby time, if you talk a lot you need to invest in spare chargers, car charges, etc etc
The overall user interface isn't what I'd call intuitive, it's not the least user friendly phone I've ever used but much of the functionality it possesses is limited by the cumbersome menus
There seems to have been a lot of stories about this phone overheating, I thing all 3G handsets have this problem
A certain amount of CRASHES or WHITE SCREENS & SELF-REBOOTING have been experienced too, the downside of this is missed calls which can mean missed opportunities & missed business! Again, it needs at the very least to function reliably as a phone & it FAILS badly in this, the most fundamental of all areas
After not getting on very well with this phone over the last 6 months I have used it only rarely as a back-up handset & kept with my 'slightly trusty-er' old A1000 as my main phone, the worst thing that has happened now is despite the very low usage this handset has had, the port at the side of the phone where the charger is inserted has deteriorated under normal use & the phone can no longer be used because it fails to recharge
The network operator THREE aka 3 aka H3G ( sometimes wrongly referred to as 3G ) has given me nothing but grief since I first signed a contract with them more than 3 years ago.
They have inspected my faulty Motorola V3X RAZR handset & somehow deemed that the knackered charger port is 'Accidental damage' that they say has been caused by me 'Dropping or crushing' this handset!
This little used handset is in PRISTINE condition, not a single scratch on it!
The sadly hilarious thing is the letter they sent me after inspecting the phone has a digital photo of the degraded circuitry INSIDE the phone that used to hold the charger socket in place, this evidence proves that the problem is NOT accidental damage but THREE UK are bluntly refusing to call it anything else.
I have had a number of conversations with their 'Customer Service' people in Mumbai India who seem to delight in reading company policy off a script, talking OVER me when I am attempting to make a point & not giving a hoot about UK or EU Consumer protection legislation.
I have told them that I am rejecting these 'unfit goods' which under the sale of goods act have proved to be not of 'merchantable quality' & if they continue to refuse to FREELY repair or replace these goods I will have no option but to terminate the remainder of our contract (12 months left to run) for their BREACH OF CONTRACT.
Their position has been to continually read the company policy about 'early cancellations' off a script so I now intend to fight this out legally with them.
I have just requested my numbers PAC code from them.
We shall see!

Rotten dreaded white screen of death. My phone is reduced to a paper weight & I brought if for new on contract.
$650.00 paper weight!
And you think I can get it fixed. No chance. Motorola want $40.00 paid in advance to just look at it. Mind you the phone is less then 3 months old.
I've always run with a Nokia & have dropped it so many times over the last 4 years. & now I've reverted back to it, surprisingly it still works. Sure it doesn't have the cool fun features of the Motorola but hey at least I can still read & send texts.
Motorola. Pull your heads in.
It is under warranty & I've taken good care of my phone. No water damage, no dropping it, nothing. It was my pride & joy. But no longer. I'll pay to get it fixed only cos I can't justify paying of the contract over 2 years & have nothing in return. Not happy one bit.

Of all the things you want from a phone, battery life & the ability to pick up & make calls are the most important. The battery life of this phone is non-existence one perhaps two calls & the game is over. Standby may last the day if you are lucky. Further more the dam thing keeps turning off. I am with 3G which is also rubbish, but they don't allow you to turn off the 3G roam function as their 2G is via O2 which costs them money. So half the time I don't get my calls which is important considering I am a Doctor & use it on call. All in all rubbish rubbish rubbish, do not buy this phone or use 3G!

I love the fact I can lock each individual application, it looks great, REALLY easy to use, blue light flashes indicating incoming call or text, clear screen inside & out, camera use with phone open or shut, clock on both screens, great sound quality.
On the negative side... the camera button to the side is annoying unless locked, keys tend to be temperamental they stick or over write! Battery doesn't last long, black paint chips easily.

Well, were to start?! Do you remember that time you saw a beautiful girl/guy, walked up to her/him, heart beating, they looks you in the eye, opens their mouth & there are about 3 teeth there? YIKES! That pretty much sums up the V3x!
From a distance WOW, looks good, feels good, but boy what a let down when you own it!
- It crashes intermittently, yes, good old white screen! Come on Motorola, we can send people to the moon, you would think that you could sort a mobile from crashing :-)
- Predictive text is just plain bizarre, when you try to write the letter 'a' in a sentence, such as 'in a week' it will cleverly put a 'b' there & it takes 3 keystrokes to change it to 'a'. Duh!!
- The alleged 2 megapixal camera does what it says on the tin, takes photo's but its in portrait & there is clear pixilation, even on the brightest of photos.
- The gallery/picture menu is annoying, if you haven't got the time to set up the categories, then you have to scroll through every photo to find the one you want, & it takes aeon's for the picture to appear.
Plus points...
- Speaker is very good on the back, quite loud, front screen on par with other clamshells, big keypad for people with fat fingers like me, instant macro switch for camera next to main screen.
- It creaks when you text, not sure if this is a plus or a negative as it's hilarious.
- I've seen better working top-loading vcr's, today!
Poor show Motorola, back to the drawing board please, take a leaf out of Sony/Nokia's book & THINK what a consumer wants. Thanks

Rubbish. Too many faults to mention them all! Let's start with poor battery life, have to charge every night even after little use. Battery goes from full to dead in minutes just to catch you out. Have had to turn 3G off as made it switch off every time I tried to use it. White screens often & still turns off intermittently. At one point I couldn't view received calls, after a few weeks this has started working again??!! Sometimes picks people out of phone book that it wont let you select. Messages occasionally won't write correctly, phone starts to put its own text in, very annoying. Alarm sometimes just doesn't go off. Very slow menus. Back creaks when being used. Sound quality is not good.
Good things are 2MP camera which I have had no problems with.
This should be a fantastic phone but it just doesn't work! Don't rely on it! Very disappointed Motorola, will get LG/Samsung/Nokia next time.

This is quite simply the most abysmal phone I've ever owned - bar none. I'm on my third, the first one died completely, the second had a list of faults as long as your arm & this one is nearly as bad. Only half the phone book works, if you try & store a number from a call or text the phone crashes, the memory card works intermittently at best & it drops calls regularly. Added to that, the old flaws from the V3 remain, clumsy menu, poor battery life & a semi-regular software crash that includes the white screen of death etc etc.
Luckily, I can get an upgrade for 30 quid. Might be the same cost as a night in the pub with your mates, but since this phone is so abysmally poor I only know they're going to the pub half the time...
