Motorola RAZR V3 Review

The Motorola RAZR V3 is a truly stunning phone that comes with an anodized aluminum finish & is available in silver, black & hot pink coloured casing. The RAZR V3 is a very thin clam shell style mobile phone which comes with a perfectly designed single sheet of metal keypad which reacts to the lightest of touches. Hi, I bought this phone only last week & am finding problem in transferring music from a Samsung D500 phone the Motorola V3. Can you assist me to do the transfer by engaging the Bluetooth since I have used the Bluetooth several & it did not work, thank you for your concern.

I have owned one for 2 years now & it is still going strong, even after being dropped onto tarmac or concrete several times during its life. Both the displays are clear, keypad works well & has good standby charge unless you leave Bluetooth turned on.

It does have a small memory with no option to increase, it can store in the region of 50 texts or more. First & for most it is a phone with the option to take photos which it cannot be faulted for. So, if Mp3s or photos & videos are as important as texting then you should look elsewhere for something suitable.

I had never had any of the other problems people have mentioned here such as connecting to the Internet on its own accord, so I believe it is just a small number of people who suffer this, just like the other issues mentioned.

I have this phone only to use as a modem through my PC for cheap Internet (pound a day or 2.50 a week on T Mobile) whenever I desire to use it. I wouldn't have this phone as my main phone as it hasn't got what I want from a mobile & it lacks in features in that way! It's okay for if you just want a simple phone for basic texting & calling & no more. As for style of it, I don't like the design but colours are okay especially lilac & pink ones. I got it in black & unlocked.

I have had this phone for about 3 years, the first was the older version without video & it was great couldn't really find fault as for real pictures I'd use a camera. My problem comes with the newer one which has video capture, now my phone holds only 20 messages in the inbox & after a year I am giving it up as it's just too frustrating. Otherwise an excellent phone but not recommended if you receive lots of messages or want to take decent photos on your phone..

I've got this phone in pink. When I got it I was so excited! On the review in Morrisons it said MP3 phone. I was very disappointed when I took it home & found it wasn't. I think the phone is ideal for sum1 who doesn't want music as it is very good for texting on. But I keep getting browser messages & they take all the credit off my phone. Does anyone know what this is & how to stop it? It also keeps jamming up & the background I have on it goes really weird & it won't turn on or off for ages. Good phone though! Kirst X.

I have had this phone in pink for over 2 years now & it's still working! I have dropped it loads & even put it in the washing machine by accident.

Yeah as everyone has pointed out the memory is rubbish but it is ideal for people who want a phone to text & ring. The only downside is the phone sometimes goes on to a grey screen & switches its self off then on again but had a few Nokia's that did this too.

Overall a nice phone.

The only thing this phone is good for is throwing away basically. I have has it about a year, I dropped it once & it's been faulty ever since.

The memory is poor, it can hold only one song & up to 30 pictures. The camera quality is poor & the videos are really short.

Altogether I hate this phone! It's really fragile & I don't really like the looks. It's like a flip brick! I am getting a new phone asap!

I can't understand why this phone gets poor reviews considering what you can now pay for one (under £30 at Tesco).

I have had budget phones from Samsung & Nokia costing more but the Motorola is far superior & better quality, if you want a phone just to make calls & to text then the RAZR V3 is fine.

If you want music video etc, then perhaps you should be looking for a decent MP3 or MP4 player instead of a mobile phone.

I really hate this phone because it always dials 666. I quite like the design & feel of the phone but it only has 6MB of memory on it, the camera is bad as it is only a vga camera & there is no place to put a memory card in. If you are thinking of buying a phone I wouldn't suggest this phone because it also accesses the Internet if I leave it in my pocket for about ten minutes. Hope this helped you.

I have had this phone for just over a year & it hasn't failed me yet. It can be a bit slow sometimes & the screen gets imprints of the keys on it, but otherwise it is very good. Will admit that the camera is not very good but it is OK enough in good light, but grainy sometimes. Overall it is very good.

The camera pictures always came out blurry & the video was no good however I had this phone for a while & it lasted great considering it had got wet, been on roller coasters, chucked in school bag etc. The screen was easy to keep clean & unmarked, the Internet was easy to use & the buttons worked well when wearing fake nails. Nice size phone fits neatly in pockets however not enough memory space can only just fit on 2 songs 3 maximum.

I've tried to be fair with this review. This phone has obviously been around for a while, so to compare it to newer phones with new technology is pointless. When I first got it I thought it was amazing, it is fantastically slim & was a lot nicer than some of the other Nokia bricks available at the time. I have had no problems with it at all, & I've had it for about two/three years now (ages! ).

Pros.
- Nice simple texting.
- Has a camera (not fantastic) but has zoom, brightness settings. If you close it you can take pictures of yourself easily (you can see the screen on the front). Basically, it is what you expect of the price you can get it for.
- Bluetooth (amazingly! ).
- Lovely simple design.
- It shows the time on the front screen.
- Nice simple navigation.

Cons.
- Appalling memory size (5MB). I can fit two songs on & after installing all the software & loading all my songs (from my MP3) to the Motorola phone tools, I wasn't impressed to find not enough memory.
- Battery life. For a while I thought it was awful, I had my phone of constantly because the battery would go down in a matter of hours. It was only when I found out my Bluetooth had been on ALL the time I had got it, that I realised that was what was wearing it down. It can now last for a day or two, which is still not great.
- the camera & video quality, not brill.
- Slow loading times (for games, browser etc).
- Lack of memory card slot. My problem with the memory would be solved, but it is so old that it doesn't have a slot!
- Generally outdated.

Following on from my last point, this phone other than just not being in with all the new technology is great (believe it or not! ). If you want a simple phone good for making texts & phone calls with a good battery life & pretty looks, then this is a good phone for you, but that probably doesn't include many people as we (mostly) want amazing top notch everything to impress our friends with.

Conclusion.
I wouldn't buy this phone as you would probably be looking for a phone with more memory & better tools almost immediately.

Sorry Motorola, but I am now looking at the Sony Ericsson W810i, & writing this review has just made me 100% sure it IS prefect :).

Owned this handset for about 10 months a couple of years ago. It was a phone I longed for as soon as I first set eyes on it, I can cut this review short by saying it's a lot like an expensive Italian supercar, looks awesome & the performance promised a lot, alas sadly the build quality & reliability was appalling. My razor ended up being snapped into two separate pieces whilst in my back pocket. Nowadays it's a bargain however so if you're looking for a mobile that you're not intending to keep for ages then look no further!

WHAAA?!

It's an awesome phone. I have had it for a year already, true I am getting a new one, but that's only because I am sick of this phone, there's nothing wrong with it.

It's super thin, & I love the keypad. It's super easy to use & I think that it is a very standard phone for TODAYS market. But when I got it, it was very good quality.

I wouldn't recommend buying it now, because the technology is so old.

I've had this phone for just over a year now & it suits me perfectly. Yes it only holds one song but isn't that what you have Ipods & MP3 players for? & the camera on it is good if you want to take a quick fun snaps but if you want high quality pictures then use a proper camera. I've had a couple of little accidents with my phone but its never actually broken once its just covered in lots of scratches but it still works fine so I have no plans to change it yet.

I loved this phone. It is great for people who have maybe only had 1 or 2 phones before, as it is kind of simple. It has an OK camera, but was a little bit slow & blurry at times. The storage, I must say was a sort of awful, & compared to my uni friends, who could hold around 50 songs, the v3 could hold 10 at the maximum. One thing I did like though was the design & feel of the phone. It felt really nice to hold & fitted into my pocket so easily & unobstructively.

It is a brilliant phone for things like texting, & calling, but not so good for those of you who enjoy your pics, vids & tunes. Hope that all of this helps.

I have had this phone for ages & it has been brilliant! No problems whatsoever & it is a great phone! The only down side is that the memory isn't too great. One song. Oh well, buy an ipod. (: I have dropped this phone so many times, & it hasn't affected it in any way. Just a few tiny scratches. (:

I love this phone, but now I am looking for a phone with a bigger memory. I am going to miss it (: but I recommend this phone to anyone. It's a brilliant, long lasting phone.

The battery life can last up to a week which is great spesh for someone like me who forgets to charge it up ha-ha! Ha ha ha all your bad reviews make me laugh. Look at the reviews on & before March of 2006, they're great! They also weren't nearly as popular back then. I've had mine for 2 years & it's served me great. Sure the camera is shabby but let's keep it in mind that this phone has been in production for over 2 years.
Anyway, they were absolutely fantastic up until Q2 2006 (that's second quarter of 2006, so April & on) they weren't popular they were quality phones. Then they got popular & Motorola made more for cheaper (basic principle of business) & to anyone who bought a phone, especially in 2007, you are a sheep & nothing more. You followed a fad & bought the oh so popular phone of the time. What you didn't realize is they turned to rubbish. Problems with cracked screens & dust (sand?) under the screen cover are unacceptable problems basically just cheap manufacturing. When I got my phone we also got custom leather pouches to carry them on our belts which also no longer including in post Q2 2006 packages. I've dropped mine down a flight of hardwood stairs & accidentally put it through a load in the washing machine & it works fine. Trust me they used to be great but if you are even considering buying one now. I must ask you why? They built a reputation as good phones & have been sold on those premises ever since but their quality has dropped I assure you. My review percentages are being based on the time of release though by today's standards I'd give mine a 45, 20 & 40, I'd give a new one 45, 15, & 20. Oh & just putting it out there.

Not enough memory for MP3's? Are you kidding me? When this phone came out I don't even remember there being any MP3 phones! At that point it was all about taking the technology & making it smaller & thinner. & the RAZR most certainly delivered. It wasn't about cramming songs onto a phone unless it was a short clip to be used as a ring tone. Anyway DO NOT BUY ONE, BY TODAY'S STANDARDS THEY ARE TERRIBLE I ASSURE YOU! Move on, get a new phone, something released in the last 6 to 12 months or something. But don't go complaining that a 2 plus year old phone doesn't have all the fancy stuff more recent phones have. That's what the razr2 is for. But given Motorola's bad manufacturing after becoming popular & obvious profit motive (make cheap sell high) I'd be weary. After what they did to the RAZR, I don't know how much they can really be trusted, then again others may very well be just as bad. The joys of buying technology!

As a side note I am looking at upgrading to a Samsung or Nokia.

Would definitely recommend this phone! It may not have a huge pile of features & the memory is a bit rubbish but it's very reliable! I have dropped mine about 20 times, no joke, & it has never cracked! The most that happens is that it'll immediately turn off & back on again which is no big deal. Getting a Samsung D900 for Christmas & I am kind of beginning to regret it after reading the reviews for it as I am rather clumsy with phones, always dropping them etc!

The Motorola is a tad heavy but personally I think it looks really stylish, the camera isn't bad, the sound is good & as I said before it's quite strong! It is also rather cheap at the minute.

Nice & slim, fits in my pockets unobtrusively & the buttons don't get pressed accidentally because it's a flip phone. Nice quality feel to the metal case. Still one of the smartest phones out there. I have had it for a few months now. Very disappointed, poor memory, difficult to use (it looks snazzy, but I rather have ugly & usable than pretty & difficult), Bluetooth is a joke, glad I got it in a sale. If I paid list I would be mad. The real teller is that I am still using the C975 most of the time.

I am on a family plan & we want to leave T Mobile when my contract ends in February 2008. So I am stuck because it just broke today from some kind of water, but I didn't get any water on it recently.

The pictures were useless because they were so blurry. They keys are cool but they break off to easy. The screen is not that good because it's always so darn blurry. I really don't think you should buy it due to the fact that it breaks way to easy & then you are stuck using an old phone.

I am not impressed overall. Keypad is fiddly & easy to mistype characters. It's too slow when texting compared to my old Nokia. I am 4 characters ahead of the 'beep' & it does your head in after a bit.

Absolutely hopeless at sending texts with a fairly long message, gives up trying & then, just to really hack you off, there is no audible warning to tell you that it has failed to send the message. So, 3 hours later, you eventually realise the all important text you tried to send didn't go at all.

Fairly robust though, & contrary to what I have heard, I find the battery life is excellent. Don't use the camera, so can't comment.

I got this phone about a year & a half ago. In the beginning I loved the sleekness of its design. It was unlike any phone out at that time. But I can honestly say the outward appearance is about the only thing I now like about the phone! First of all the layout of features & buttons on the phone is extremely confusing with about 4 different buttons to be pressed several times before completing the simplest of tasks.

As a fairly rapid texter I find it takes a few seconds for the letters to appear on the screen after I have typed them which I find very confusing. This is probably one of the major problems as texting is what I mainly use my phone for. Another problem with texting is that if you are in the process of writing a text & accidently press the red button to bring you back to the main screen, the text is not saved automatically & you have to go through the tedious process of re writing the text. Also I find I can save a maximum of 60 texts in my inbox at any one time which is a lot less than the 90 I could save on my old, lower spec Nokia phone.

The battery is also very poor with the phone not lasting much longer than a day after fully charging. The picture quality not great either & I have found recently that while the picture is of OK quality immediately after taking, if I go back to it later in the saved gallery it is more blurry which is quite odd!

The fun is not very strong either & does not stand up to rough handling, I.e. One should be very careful not to drop it or spill any amount of water on it. On the positive side, despite these faults, it has worked very satisfactorily for the last year & a half & I have not had to have it repaired or such like.

When this phone was first released in the UK the stores were sold out it was a brand new extremely thin flip camera phone yes I must admit I was tempted to buy it but I am not glad I didn't. The first reason is that it has an extremely tiny 5MB memory I think Motorola should have expanded it as at the time mp3s on your mobile was very popular & I don't think it was a smart move. The second thing was that it had a VGA camera if you hear about that now you think something that must have been invented about 5 years ago well it was only 2 or 3. The last was that it overheats a lot & mine used to turn its self off & wouldn't turn on until it cooled down. I don't know if this is a safety feature but it was very annoying.

We love it so much so I am looking to upgrade to the V3I. It's small, fits into you jacket or shirt pocket very easily & had a loud ring tone. It does what it says on the box. If you're quite happy with a slim phone that has all the main features including games & Bluetooth then this is the one for you. People forget the more you have on a phone the less battery life it has & the more thing's to go wrong. Over the two years we have had them. Fantastic inspired design, poorly executed. To everyone that says they can't understand why we are all complaining about this phone - well, you must be the exception to the rule, because I would estimate over 80% of these phones fail & what is wrong with the phone? Actually, the features are quite fine for the price, & the calling & texting are fine too. WHEN the PHONE IS NOT FREEZING, the SCREEN IS NOT GOING BLACK/WHITE, the BUTTONS ARE NOT GOING CRAZY, & the BACKLIGHT CAUSES the MOST ANNOYING BUZZING I HAVE EVER HEARD.

I got my V3 from a friend as I was having a hard time texting with my trusty Nokia, I have to say that after a couple of days to get used to where everything is I can text really quickly on it, I like the way when you are inputting a big word it hazards a guess at what the word will be but allows you to carry on without forcing you to have the word it's thought of.

There are a couple of things which do annoy me with this phone, first is that you have to tell it that you want a delivery report every time you send a message, second is the abysmal battery life, (I now carry a spare fully charged battery with me in my wallet) & finally the small amount of memory, it's fine for adding ringtones as I only use part of a song for a tone, camera is OK for when it was brought out but not up to today's standards.

Calling quality is good & I can use it with my computer just fine after getting the Phone tools software installed. This phone is about 2 years old & has never had a fault, still looks good & now is fairly cheap to buy. I would not recommend this phone for anyone who likes to have lots of music & video clips or doesn't have access to a charger wherever they go but as a phone for making calls & texting it's fine.
