Motorola L6 Review

The Motorola L6 is an ultra slim & stylish mobile phone. The L6 comes in a sleek silver coloured casing & the keypad is etched into a smooth metal surface. The navigation tool is a five way pad which is easy to operate & manoeuvre around the phones menu system. The Motorola L6 is a light weigh mobile phone & measures 113 x 49 x 10.9 mm which provides compact sized handset. The Motorola L6 is an attractive middle of the market mobile phone which is in competition with similar featured phones like the Sony Ericsson K508i. The Motorola L6 is a member of the Motorola L range & a resemblance in design can be seen in the Motorola SLVR L7, but the features are of a slightly higher specification on the SLVR L7.

The phone has a bright CSTN 65k colour screen with a 128 x 160 pixel screen resolution. The user can use the built in digital VGA camera with 4 x digital zoom to take shots of friends & family. The user can enjoy capturing those special moments on video with the integrated video feature which comes with a playback facility. The user can playback video in different video formats which include H.263, MPEG4 & 3GPP. The phone comes with 10 Mbytes of internal memory to that the user can store & save those special photos & video footage on their Motorola L6.

The L6 comes with very useable messaging features which include a text messaging service (SMS), multimedia messaging service (MMS), enhanced messaging service (EMS) & instant messaging. The user can send & receive messages very easily & all incoming message will be alerted to the user with a message alert sound & a visual message displayed. The user can send & receive MMS messages which include text input & sound, photo or video to any MMS compatible mobile phone. The instant messaging service works like an online chat so therefore the user can send messages back & forth to other contacts that are online at the same time as the user.

The Motorola L6 comes with preloaded polyphonic & MP3 ringtones which the user can select for their message alerts & incoming call ringtones. The L6 comes with a handsfree speaker phone option which allows the user to talk to contacts over the loud speaker therefore leaving their hands totally free to carry out other jobs. The user can bring some fun to their Motorola L6 & give it a personal feel with the picture caller identification feature. The push to talk feature is a quick & effective way to communicate with others & works like a walkie talkie. The user can talk to more than one contact at a time by holding down the push to talk button to talk to others then on releasing the button the user can hear the others talking back.

The Bluetooth® technology allows the user to connect to other Bluetooth® compatible devices without the use of any wires. The user can enjoy connecting wirelessly to other mobile phones, laptops, personal computers & headsets. The phone works on a tri band network which allows the user to use their phone in other continents with ease. The user can access the Internet with the use of the WAP 2.0 browsers.

I can't understand all the negative comments on this phone. The L6 is the best phone I have ever had. I have considered upgrades but I just don't like any new phones I try & always go back to the L6.

This phone is great if you want a sleek, easy to use phone for basic calling & messaging. If you are a teenager wanting all the gadgets then this phone is not for you. This is a very thin phone & for guys it fits easily in a trouser pocket. The phone is very easy to use, menus are simple & the Motorola iTap predictive texting is the best.

I have had no problems with the Bluetooth, camera & video are basic but OK for casual snap shots. WAP browsing is adequate. Java games are easy to install. Ringtones are very loud & clear & with Motorola Phone Tools it is easy to add & edit your own ringtones, photos & videos.

I think this phone is great if you do not expect anything too fancy. No not the best camera, memory etc but just as a cheap & remember this phone is cheap, phone it is great. I have not had one problem with mine & have had it for over 12 months now. It is easy to carry around with you being so slim & lightweight. I don't understand why people say battery lift is no good mine lasts at least a week!

It seems the majority of bad reviews here are from people who want battery-gulping features that aren't really what a low-end priced phone is about! The Bluetooth on my L6 works fine, messaging is ultra quick & the VGA camera is more than enough to snap the odd pic. I've owned Nokia smart phones they're just like toys & went back to using a simple handset, so if anyone just wants to talk, text & swap the odd picture, which is what most people do that I know! This is fine.

This phone looks cool, but it pretty much rubbish. To start, the camera is terrible. The Bluetooth only lasts for 60 seconds, & sometimes my Bluetooth doesn't work. The keys are really small, so your fingers always press something else on accident. & it's cool how thin it is, but mine always falls out of my pocket or sweatshirt when I am sitting down, or driving. So it gets lost pretty easy.

I had a fantastic Samsung E370 for about a year until it got stolen when I went on a skiing trip & I was so devastated. But it was reaching my birthday & my auntie agreed to buy me a brand new phone. I was excited about this until I discovered she bought me a Motorola L6! It is the worst phone in the world. It has a VGA camera which is trash, the video is blurred & horrible & only lasts for 10 seconds. You can only store a small certain amount of texts. No Music Player at all. The memory is terrible & battery life is pure rubbish! But at least in a couple of months I am getting a Samsung E900, which is supposedly really good so I'll keep my hopes up for that. But seriously, DON'T BUY THIS PHONE. IT'LL ONLY MAKE YOUR LIFE terrible!

It might look nice but this phone is rubbish. Everyone who has this phone can never get signal & the memory is rubbish. You can only store about 70 texts before it starts complaining.

The Bluetooth only seems to work for 60 seconds, this might just be my one, but it gets very irritating when you're trying to receive videos or pictures.

One more complaint, the video recording is only for 10 seconds.

Don't buy it. Try a Samsung or LG. This phone will just let you down.

My advice to the world, DON'T BUY THIS PHONE BECAUSE YOU WILL SIMPLY REGRET IT!

My other advice, If you are looking for a rather classy phone, buy the Nokia 5300. It is way better.

I got this phone as a present for my birthday. I was so delighted to have an l6, but now I think it is completely useless. The camera kept on freezing & then when I dropped it off the edge of my bed, the phone froze completely! It stayed frozen for almost half an hour! I hate this phone completely.

The screen is a good size but isn't well protected. The video camera is really blurred & looks awful when you play it back. The Samsung E250 is 1000 times better than this. Why wasn't I given that for my birthday instead of the pointless l6? DON'T buy this phone!

First off all the memory is rubbish also it has a rubbish camera. The side buttons kept getting pressed when I didn't want them to. Good style but rubbish features. The Bluetooth was rubbish & it stopped charging one and a half months after buying it. So I sent it away when I got it back about two months later the battery was dead in one hour & finally the keypad locked up. So I am thinking of getting a Samsung e250.

It is an indestructible phone. I do FMX & it fell out of my pocket once. I found battery about 10m from the main phone & the back I had run ova on the way back. That was 6 months ago & since then I, have run ova it twice on push bike & dropped from the second story of home & it still works fine. The screen is a bit dull but you would expect that when you leave it in the summer sun on a dash board for two days. Recommend to anyone who likes indestructibility for cheap. :)

I bought this phone just over a year ago, for £50 on pay-as-you-go. I think it's amazingly durable - despite having been dropped onto concrete, buried in sand, covered in snow, on countless occasions, it still works fine. It is rather scratched, & the metal battery cover is dented as can be, but all these flaws are made up for by the overall appearance. When I bought it, I chose it for it's slim & classy style. It impressed people then, & it continues to impress today. I do have a couple of problems with the L6, though. The camera is dismal, as is the video, which manages to combine a pathetic framerate with poor picture & hugely distorted sound. The 'handy' menu on the home screen is entirely useless, & serves only to clutter the screen. The software that comes preloaded is dire, as well. Also, the phone is so ridiculously slow when connected to GPRS, that any attempt to access the Internet-like services is farcical. But still. If you want a telephone that looks classy, & does the trick, but are not after any of the modern features, then go for it. Get yourself a Motorola L6.

I got this phone after my Samsung ZV40 got stolen. The ZV40 is A LOT better than the L6. Me & my friend both have them & we can't wait to get rid of them! The memory is terrible, camera quality is bad, & it is so easy to break! I would only recommend this phone to the people who only use a phone for texting & phoning. The design of the phone is pretty cool, but don't let that trick you into thinking it's a good phone! Overall, I would give this phone 2 out of 10.

This is the worst phone I have ever owned, & I can't wait till I get my new one.

People seem to be confusing a Bluetooth search for hands-free devices - which comes up 0 if there are none around, not surprisingly! With pairing with other phones with Bluetooth.

My Bluetooth works perfectly when pairing with other phones. I don't have a hands-free device, but it will probably work OK with that as well.

Great, stylish, easy to use, slim phone.

Upsides:

- Scratch proof back

Downsides:

- POOR Bluetooth

So as you can see. Don't GET IT! Well you can if you don't mind the Bluetooth not working & when it does, it is slow! So I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone.

Absolute nightmare of phone! Got as an insurance replacement 2 months ago. Thought wow seems great. How wrong was I. Hard to use as kept locking/freezing up - picture quality poor & Bluetooth not worked. Also ring tones stopped working after a month so could dial out etc but if someone rang you it wouldn't ring. How useful is that for a phone! Tried everything & I am no fool when it comes to phones. Definitely!

If you are looking to buy an up-to-date mobile phone, then do not buy this one, I used to have this mobile & someone called it a brick. Although it is VERY thin, it is quite large. If you are looking for a simple mobile phone, then you could consider this one.

Down Sides:
- Its a VGA camera, quite poor quality, it's actually 0.3 megapixel, & most mobiles have around 1.3 or 2 megapixel now.
- The video quality is very bad, you can see each pixel, it's awful!
- The Bluetooth connection is quite bad, my friend managed to search for 20 Bluetooth devices & I got 0! & we were in the exact same place.
- The screen isn't very good, you don't get any themes, you only get colour styles which isn't very good.

Good things:
- Emmm, it's very easy to use!
- I can't think of anything else.

Had this phone about four months now & am disappointed. It unlocks itself in my handbag far too often & the chrome on the up/down/left/right button starting chipping off within a couple of months. The lack of numbered menu options is disappointing too which means even more scrolling. But apparently, this is not the phone's fault, it's mine because I have long nails! Had long nails since before mobile phones came out & never had this fault with a phone before & being a bit of a phone person that's a good few phones.

Really cute phone! I admit it- I drop it all the time on lots of hard surfaces, & all it has is a few minor scratches, & the actual phone still works 100%! I've had it for a decent amount of time too ! Bought it in store for $150 which is cheap for a mobile with Bluetooth & Video Camera (including sound) etc! It's super slim, which all my friends comment on liking. I recommend it.

This is a neat little phone. Stylish to look at, crisp quality mp3 sounds / tracks which can be applied as ring tones & it is very easy to use. However, there are a few negative aspects; the Bluetooth on this phone is really quite poor as the only way I have found to connect to other phones is using a USB Bluetooth dongle on my laptop. I have not managed to connect to others directly via the L6. The other point is that you can't turn down the volume on video playback & the quality of video recording is weak. Again storage is an issue with no possibility of expanding the memory. Despite all this I do like the phone.
