Had this phone for years & never given me a moments trouble. The design is beginning to look a bit dated (but to my mind still pretty acceptable).

& frankly that's my only criticism! The phone's receiver is quite sensitive, the audio quality is good, & I've never had any complaints from anyone I've spoken to. The camera is basic, but works adequately.

To use TV ad-speak, it does exactly what it says on the tin. This is a no nonsense phone, & does its job admirably.

Well, the phone has a great design & is very stylish being sleek & thin. It is not very durable because I dropped it a few times & the front screen has four different cracks in it already. The Bluetooth is very slow compared to other phones, but it gets the job done eventually. It has minimal features with only a camera, video camera, voice recorder, alarm clock, calendar & calculator, unlike other modern phones which have these standard & many other features to a company them. The calling is quite good & the messaging is also acceptable. Another problem is that when a message doesn't succeed in sending, the phone lags immensely which is very annoying. The Internet works well when the phone has sufficient reception & loads pages & pictures in under two, three minutes. If you are a teenager do not buy this phone, it will not live up to your expectations. Thank you for reading.

I have had this phone for nearly 3 years now & I know it's not very trendy but phones are needed for calling & texting which this does exactly, camera is fine & effects are great.

I would definitely be satisfied with this phone if you were only looking to call people & text people, & it comes with a GREAT memory card, you can hold over 1 million songs :).

This phone is good to begin with but now, after 18 months it has a very slow loading time & freezes often. Just changing from the main screen to the menu can take more then 5 seconds sometimes & this can become very irritating if you need to send a quick text.

Looks nice but this actual phone isn't very good.

This is probably the worst phone I have owned to date. During the first few months, I was eager to show off its sleek design & fun to use features, but within the first year, I was struck by terrible problems. Within 45 minutes of charging it, the phone would decide it would die. Within 18 months, I have received 4 different phones, 5 different batteries, & 1 new system update, & the problem is still not fixed. I am deeply disappointed in it, & although some people have great experiences with the phone, there are many people who have the same experience, making it near impossible to operate.

When I got this phone in July 2007 I thought it was amazing. But now, after 18 months it's starting to slow down & the buttons on the side don't work.

The design, I gave 80% because it looks very slick & quite simple. Good design
Features, I gave 60% because it wasn't that good, camera was only 2mega pixel. It was very simple, wasn't anything special.

Usability I gave 45% because it says the phone has things which you just can't find anywhere!

Overall, I wouldn't get this phone now because there are lots more better phones out. This phone was good last year.

I am young & so it was good for a first phone for me, thanks I hoped I helped xxx.

I got this phone after my LG failed. At the end of my contract I changed to another LG which was absolutely useless because the battery constantly needed charging. Throughout my problems with other phones this Motorola has never let me down. I love its looks & two years after first getting it, it still looks good, even though most if the time it just gets slung in the bottom of my handbag & isn't particularly well looked after. But I only use my phone as a phone or to text so I can't comment on features that others may find important.

I bought this phone about 18 months ago, specifically for the voice dialling feature. In the manual it says that you speak the numbers you want on voice dialling to load them, but I found no facility for doing this.

When I contacted Motorola they said that it had been change but the manual had not been updated. It was now automatic & all you had to do was tell it to call someone in your contacts list, NOT SO. It will only do this when there is NO background noise, will NOT do it on Bluetooth when in the car because of the engine noise & has dialled anyone & everyone except the person I was trying to contact!

To add insult to injury my mother dies last year & I deleted her number from the phone, but it still dials her number when I am trying to make calls to other people.

Motorola didn't want to know, although it is not fit for the purpose, I GIVE UP & am about to buy a Nokia, no more Motorola for me!

I have had this phone for ages now I am going get a new phone for Christmas this year. I find this phone easy to use & simple. Sometimes I have problems connecting Bluetooth but most times it works. The front of the phone gets all fingerprints & now I have a huge crack down the middle. Although I do like the idea of the mini screen on the front it is quite handy to check the time which is enlarged. For some reason my phone always has a small picture of an alarm clock next to the signal. I don't really know if other people would think this but the battery life is really good.

This is the bad phone, I dropped it once & the whole front glass thing looks like I took a baseball bat to it, rubbish, now they won't believe me that the cracks aren't responsible for the LCD turning white & blank all the time because it was happening before that.

I swear they put the easily breakable thing out side for that reason because they take your money & run. Don't buy this phone, there phone will explode soon.

This phone puzzles me greatly. I had it for a year, buying it because it is one of the best looking phones on the market. I was very proud for a couple of months, showing off its design & easy to use screens.

Then the problems arose. Firstly, & fairly minor but still frustrating, the predictive text does not remember unusual words, such as names & places. But more over the GREATEST flaw of this phone is its battery life & regular resets. The phone will move from green battery light (fully charged with good charge) to red battery light (low charge to empty) with very little warning. I tend to get little more than two days between charges, & often I will leave the house for a few hours with a green light only to return home with a dead phone, although I may not have used it all that often. This is further exacerbated by the regular resets the phone encounters mid call, when the phone will cut someone off & become utterly inactive for a minute or so.

I have been thoroughly disappointed by my experience with this phone &, due to this as well as friends comments about other Motorola phones, will steer clear of the manufacturer in the future. Ultimately a phone not unlike a famous lady, pretty to look at, but excruciating after a short time.

Mine got mildly moist whilst in a rain shower. Servicing agents told me the water ingress was NOT VERY MUCH but it was sufficient to break the phone.

I will never consider another one. I have now used the Sony Ericsson W810i for about 18 months & although at first it felt flimsy (probably because of the lightweight plastic) it has been far superior in damage or moisture acceptance than the KRZR ever was!

I gave it a 5% design rating, because design is more than how a piece of apparatus looks!

Usability, again 5% though it should be 0% as its been in my old phone draw after only 1 months operation!

I get a new phone about every 6 months as I get bored really quickly. At the moment I have an LG Viewty but am getting so bored with never having any signal & a really chunky phone I have gone back to my favourite phone. The k1. I got this phone after having the Sony Ericsson k800i. I have acrylic long nails & find a lot of phones hard to text on, so this always influences my phone decisions. The k1 is so easy to type on. DOWNSIDE is for some reason, it would only store 9 messages in the inbox before it told me it was full up. I did the sensible thing & emailed Motorola who told me to do a software update. I did this & there are currently 146 messages in my inbox.

This is a brilliant little phone for its money, I have had all the top phones N95, K800i, Viewty, G600 (what an awful phone), but always go back to the k1 until another brilliant new phone comes out, I use it for 3 to 4 months then go back to the k1.

My screen is not cracked, even after I left it on the roof of my car & drove off with it hitting the floor, the only thing that happened was the back of the phone & the battery fell off. I have dropped it down the stairs, sat on it, & even dropped it in a mop bucket (admittedly it spent 3 days in the airing cupboard).

I paid £79 for this phone last year, & do not regret it. A great little phone.

It's getting on a bit now (I've had my phone for 18 months) but I still think the Krzr is a good phone.

My phone choice is usually based on one criteria, it looks good. & this phone certainly does that. Many people have commented on my K1 even if they have a newer phone. It's slim enough, lightweight & attractive.

What it doesn't have for the technical people out there is a great deal of features. As mentioned, with the phone being fairly old, many features are out of date. There is a camera (without flash) that isn't particularly good, there is an MP3 player which can be tempremental, & there are a few games which are a bit rubbish.

If you want to look good & don't have much of a budget go for this phone. If you want all the latest features then you'll need to spend a little more money on a newer phone.

What a piece of rubbish! Had my last LG phone for 4 years before it died & traded it in for the Krzr K1. A pretty slick looking phone but you guessed it, I have a cracked screen & only had it 3 weeks. No drops just carried it in my pocket.

No one wants to take responsibility for this defect. Mobile phone company (Rogers) would only swap it (no thanks) & wanted to charge $50 for a repair as it is not a manufactures defect. When I asked the repair guy if he sees this a lot he replied with this phone, yes, to which I replied well isn't that then a manufacturer's defect? ', you guessed it. No response.

Rogers show some integrity & stop carrying this piece of junk, & Motorola get your act together, I expect better from you. & why don't you have a 24 7 365 customer support centre in North America.

I've had the phone now for 18 months & still love it. I am normally the type to have a new one every 9 months or so, but have been quite content with this one!

I am not going to lie & say that it's the best phone ever. It does have its fault.

My down button is very dodgy & works when it wants to which is very annoying when you're trying to read text or just generally using the phone. I've also got a huge crack on the outside of the flip part but its only because I dropped it & I think that it stood up very well for the 18 months I've had it! I would recommend this phone & would buy another one.

It certainly looks good & you can't beat somebody saying to you ooh that's a posh phone. However you can get a bit obsessive over the grubby finger marks on the shiny parts of the phone. It's very good value for the price it is at now & as a bonus it's easy to use!

My wife both have KRZR K1, love it from the beginning because it was a slim RAZR. Anyway, about 6 months into the new KRZR (we got it in January 2007), my wife phone (clamshell) ear piece was losing the volume. At first we thought maybe it was just a isolated incident, then I had tried it again & it was hard to hear the other person communicating to you. We had to switch to speaker mode. We took it to our provider Verizon Wireless & we were able to exchange it for another phone. I don't think the customer service rep believe us. I had my phone & my wife phone next to each other & the rep knew that we weren't pulling her leg. We let her hear the ear volume from mine to my wife & the sound was huge. Well, jump ahead to June 2008 & my KRZR started several months ago. Me, I was in denial & had it on speaker mode or using my Bluetooth. I took it in to Verizon & another rep was assisting me & she didn't believe me. She called my phone & had one of her co worker answer my phone. He said that he could hear her fine. I told him to walk to the front door & talk to her then. He came back & said the volume was very low & had a hard time understanding his co worker. She switched my phone out (I had the metallic shell).

Anyway, it's working fine for now. The maximum micro SD that this will take is 2GB. If you try to load music in from your computer to memory card, most will work & some will not. This is due to your music formats meaning where or how you had obtained your music. Verizon have their own software & one can upload to their media player & downloaded to the phone memory card. Good Luck.

This phone is GREAT, I text a lot & it is FANTASTIC. With a 2GB micro SD card it will hold HUNDREDS of songs! & pictures with a FANTASTIC 2MP camera. The KRZR K1 had loads or FEATURES, TOO MANY to list! Those of you who are complaining about the screen or cracks on the outside are just not HANDLING it properly. I've had mine for 5 MONTHS (I think) & it has NOT EVEN GOT A CRACK on it, it also has NEVER MESSED UP. The screen resolution is BRILLIANT & the sound is CRYSTAL CLEAR! GREAT PHONE MUST BUY!

I love the streamline & smooth phone, not forgetting that it's a reddy pink colour! Has everything you would need on the phone, MP3 player which you can minimise while you do other things such as text. It has an expandable memory so can hold anything & everything you want. It has help files to help you with getting to know your phone, although it's very easy to understand & work. Its has Bluetooth. It has one game, Sudoku but gives you options to download more if you a game lover. the camera although not as good as others still give you a good photo & you can even take the photo with the phone closes so you can see yourself in the reflective shinny top. The phone also has ebuddybeta, which if you don't know is MSN & yahoo, depending on which you wish to go on, so you can talk to your friends for free on the move. Only bad thing I would say is that it can't hold to bigger photos, which I have found other phones can. Also the phone doesn't have a flash so it's pretty impossible to take photos in dark lighting. However the phone is great! I can always get signal & have never been cut off due to signal when on a call.

This phone is certainly a gorgeous thing to look at (bar the grease smudges it collects) but it does have a few flaws & overall I think it is a step backwards from the RAZR. For a start, the 1 & 4 keys on the keypad only work occasionally. The actual keypad doesn't seem to be fully lined up with the contact pads underneath, I have to be careful to press the 1 key on the far right hand side only.

The Bluetooth on the handset has never worked, it switches on just fine but doesn't do anything. The predictive text does not learn from corrections. Reception isn't great & I often have emergency cover only.

Otherwise it's fine, the camera seems reasonable as does the video. & I've had the handset for nearly 18 months & there have been no cracks or major malfunction.

I own a business & have had many phone phones, all in heavy use. This phone was okay, but the 1 year warrantee is not good! THERE IS NO WARENTEE, Why? If you get a scratch or crack in the lens (the clear plastic cover) they WILL NOT FIX YOUR PHONE.

Its physical damage, my fault. Yup. That small crack that are in the plastic of the case (lens) is somehow causing my phone to NOT CHARGE anymore.

Main point, these phones are designed to have the lens scratch & crack EASY, & when it does they do not honour the warrantee, period.

My phone was sent in with charging problems but they won't even look at that until I pay 90 dollars to fix the small hair line crack in the cover!

I will NEVER buy Motorola again, & for that matter I am dropping Aliant BELL as my mobile phone carrier.

Had this phone for 18 months. Still in pristine condition, except for paint flaking on the number 6 button!

Still looks the business, nothing can quite come close to the overall look of the phone except for the Viewty/iPhone.

Like the ability to put MP3s as ringtones/message alerts. Easy calendar function & a calculator even my wife can work!

Camera not brilliant, standard 2 mega pixels with no flash. Low light pictures come out a bit grainy, & responsiveness of the camera can be a bit sluggish, but pictures can easily be printed to A4 size without any pixelisation.

Easy to access microSD card is big advantage, & items are easy to copy between the two.

Bluetooth is slow transferring data (not as slow as LG though! ) & occasionally looses connection with my Moto headset, however when connected sound quality is very good.

I haven't had the problem with amount of texts stored. I've currently got 157 in my inbox & 72 in my outbox.

Overall I've enjoyed using this phone & am only changing it because I am due an upgrade.

I would recommend this phone to someone who just wants a phone with a basic camera. It does have MP3 functionality however the quality is not the same as a dedicated MP3 player.

Then one morning the screen just cracked no reason, wasn't dropped or anything? Replaced under insurance with another one. This one survived about 12 months or so until last night when I walked past the table & clipped it with my leg (phone was in pocket), guess what, screen cracked! This looks like a bullet had been shot at the screen. What a shame this is a really cool phone. I've only ever had Motorola phones, never again the quality has gone down hill over the last 2-3 years, have to go back to my V3 I kept just in case until contract ends next month, looking at a Samsung G800, hope it will be a bit tougher & looks cool also?

I've had this phone for almost 18 months now & although I haven't experienced any major problems with it like cracking screens, etc, I can only say, it's a pretty paperweight! Yes it looks great, but that's it! The camera is really poor & don't get me started on the predictive text, absolutely awful! Also, if you are a girlie like me who loves her long nails, you'll find the flat keypad a nightmare & end up pressing the buttons with your nails. Consequently, the keys are crumbling! My contract is up next month & there's no way I'll be having a Motorola again, Going back to good old Nokia. If you are buying an older model with v5 OS, O2 were doing a free upgrade to v6, I upgraded mine & it worked very well. Just search on Google.

02 have just released a version 2 of the Orbit so if you're buying new or from an Internet site, it may be worth checking out the version 2 first.

In summary, this is the best phone I've ever had but I got fed up of the PDA style interface & went back to a phone style interface (I.e. Keypad). I am not going to mark the orbit down for this simply because you will be very aware that you're buying a PDA phone without a keypad. The lack of buttons should be obvious & part of the decision to buy the phone.

Both my friend & I have had this phone over a year now. I was very unsure at first after reading reviews on screen cracking & many faults. But I have to say it's been the best phone I have ever had. I use all of the features & really don't have a problem. My friends phone is cracked very slightly but after the punishment its received I am really not surprised it's been in the bath twice, dropped endless amounts of times & even rescued from her 4 year old bull terriers jaws & it's still going strong. Call that luck but I couldn't see a Nokia taking that, it's so far the only phone she hasn't managed to break totally. Battery lasts approx 2 to 3 days with average use. It's a great phone if you want to take on the spot pictures or videos & have MP3 ringtones. If you want a phone to listen to music & use as a MP3 player then it will be a big disappointment. But to someone who wants a phone that easy to use with good features then it's great. To SUZANNE IN MANCHESTER when you put a new micro card in the phone you need to format it before it can recognise it or you can save things. Do this in SETTINGS, PHONE STATUS, STORAGE DEVICES. Highlight Memory Card then OPTIONS, FORMAT. Make sure it's the card you highlight or you will wipe the phone with no going back!

This is an excellent phone. I've had it 15 months & never had any problem. Neither have I had any problems with any cracks & I work with cement & stone. I would suggest that you don't keep it in jeans pocket, cause it's likely that the bending force (in front or back) when you sit down may cause it to crack.

The camera is very good & so is the video mode. It has some handy features, like the mirror camera & touch voice record which anyone can use without even looking. Calls are crystal clear, no connection problems at all & battery still lasts ages.

If there's one small thing I don't like about it, it's the buttons on the side which change ring styles. Quite often they get pressed in your pocket without you knowing so you might put it on silent & miss a call, but overall it's a cracking phone LOL.

The camera is also very good for photos & videos. Also the expandable memory is great you can cram so many songs onto it & still have plenty of space for photos & videos.

I am investing in a spare Motorola battery & desktop charger (total cost £13.50 on the net) in order to be able to swap batteries & charge a spare one up when using the other as I really like the phone otherwise. OK, I've had this phone for almost 5 months & it has been perfect so far.

Not only does it look amazing, but it has absolutely everything anyone could need really; Bluetooth, Internet access, games, camera, video recorder, music player, sms, MMS, voice recorder, a photo editing program & all the usual extras such as a calendar & a calculator.

I would recommend this phone if you are willing to take good care of it, as the case can be easily scratched.

If you do get this phone & want to store your music on it, then I would recommend getting an SD card as the built in memory can only hold about 5 songs & a few pictures.

Great phone!

Another cracked screen after 2 days. Started as a small scratch, then spread all the way across the screen. I blamed my little sister but obviously not. It's not good enough that Motorola make this mistake. Samsung u700 looks pretty cool so I am going to try getting a money refund.

Guys! To sum it up, the phone is very nice to look at indeed I was taken in by its looks! But TBH that all that really good about it!

The text SYSTEM IS AWFULL! IF you text a lot THEN don't BOTHER WITH THIS PHONE!

I can only imagine that the people here giving reviews rarely use the text system because no one can say that it's even average!

Just don't bother with this phone I know people have been giving some nice reviews but there are so many better phones out there. It's going back tomorrow.

Anyone thinking of getting this phone should do it. It's really stylish & easy to use. I have had mine for 18 months on contract & it's been really good battery lasts 5 to 6 days if just using as a phone, obviously less if using all the features of which there are plenty. Camera's not brill but it's OK for a phone & having lenses that face both ways is really handy especially if you're vain & like taking pics of yourself, LOL.

The cover is great, mine did crack but oh well, couldn't be bothered to get it mended! It had everything I was looking for but it was just such a boring phone! Bluetooth took ages to send! The sound was immense. I would by this phone again if you rarely use it & are vein & want to look at yourself in the reflective screen! No seriously, good phone, I will miss it!

I'll be honest with you. This phone is really good for people that like a mobile that is very attractive. This phone also has all the features that you really need for a phone. It's also good that it is quad band. Motorola make most of their phones have quad band. The downside is that is you don't wipe the front screen it's going to have a lot of smudges. I also think these people that have cracked there screen on the phone don't really take care of it. It's maybe a bit high maintenance. My advice on this phone is if you want a phone that has all the features you need on a mobile & have great looks this is the phone for you. But for people that don't take care of mobiles, maybe not.

Hi, I got this phone a couple of days after it got released by Vodafone. I have now had it almost 18 months & I still got the same one! I am a mechanic so as you can imagine the phone gets serious abuse, but I haven't had to use my insurance once. Few scratches on the screen & the grippy back has started to rub off, but like I said it has been dropped, bashed, got wet & is still working as I got it on day one.

The camera wasn't bad 18 months ago but phones have come on so much (think there up to 5MP now! ) that it looks rubbish compared to the N95 but it will do. Music player is a little mental & likes to freeze but when it works it don't sound too bad.

The best thing I can say about this phone is that it's easy to use, as it was my first Rola! & you just don't see anyone with it! So if you want a simple good looking phone get it!

OK the phone looks great that's it really, I don't like the music player application it's terrible & runs off java so I can't run it in the back ground while I send a text & want to listen to music instead I have to go through the weird menu & find a song I like & then close the phone plays & then open it & hope the song is still playing & if it is I then get to send a text. Then there is the damn software for the computer which is awful & only windows compatible so if you own a Mac you sit there cursing Motorola for their silliness of not writing even a basic program for Mac for file transfer. So instead off the software you have to use Bluetooth which is really slow compared to the cable OR you have to set the usb sync to memory card & then plug it in your Mac & when it finally appears on your desktop you open it like a hard drive & spend 2 minutes searching for the audio folder. Then when you find it you have to pick up & drag all the songs you like from iTunes. If I had a choice I would not have but this Motorola I had no choice my v3 stopped working. The k1 is the only cheap phone I could get with Bluetooth which I need for driving & help the man who designed the phone if the screen cracks I used to have a Nokia & the screen never cracked & I threw that across the road at one stage to show how durable they were. Oh & I just wrote this it just froze while using the java based player DON'T PRESS A BUTTON WHILE USING THAT WHEN the PHONE IS CLOSED OR it breaks. Also there is the letter j on top of the home screen which is bugging me, don't know what it's for, it's nowhere in the manual what does it do, who made this without putting it in the manual. Where was I, I have no idea how to reset it without ripping out the battery & I can't even get the back panel off! So all I do now is look at the background which I hate & the j in a box is back on the home screen doing my head in, I am going to find my old Nokia! Features 15 cause I did not get to try many & usability 5 as at the moment it makes a really good paper weight & there was no zero.

The plus points first, it looks great.

Okay, now for the rest of it. The mirror design is good in principle but it picks up grease so incredibly easy, & is therefore impossible to not make it look cheap. However, I have found it to be robust & for me it needs to be!

I don't know if this is isolated, but this is how I have found my phone. When you flip it open it hisses, which I am guessing is not a good start. Predictive text is awful as it does not remember your corrections for instance I have called my girlfriend peww instead of sleek, which got me into a little trouble. Furthermore, if it isn't already in the dictionary it is a really tiresome job to type that word in predictive.

Sometimes it simply refuses to send or receive calls or texts even though the reception bars are filled. Sometimes it simply shows no reception bars at all.

Time to time it will turn itself off as it does with my mate's krzr. Occasionally I will open my phone & be welcomed either by a white screen, or my screen saver will disappear, as it does with my mate's krzr.

It loses photos.

This phone is truly dreadful, the worst I have ever had the misfortune of owning & I had the Motorola cd90 a woeful phone. I cannot recommend strongly enough to NOT BUY THIS PHONE or even contemplate doing so.

Calls are clear (my prime concern with a mobile phone! ), but would not rate the camera very highly. The software causes Microsoft some problems & I get a warning message on my screen saying that it may corrupt files if I proceed with loading it needless to say I stop at that point. As a phone & to text, it's just fine. Don't buy it for camera or music.

I first saw this phone about a year ago & didn't like the look of it but when I went to a phone shop & seen it in real life I loved it straight away (so I persuaded my parents to get it for Xmas for me. It is very compact & trendy looking.

The features on it are great! 2 mpxl camera & video recorder, photo frames & effects, emotions, art & text. The video is the best I have ever had. The only thing that disappointed me about this phone is that there is no flash! Although you can set it to night mode it does make a difference if it's dark but could be a bit better. Transfer photos onto your computer using the USB cable the MP3 is great very clear & you can set your favourite song as your ringtone. Expandable memory, security to set passwords on yr messages, contacts, anything you want!

Was so delighted with it then something happened to the plastic bit over the screen, completely my own fault but was devastated!

Best phone ever had love it! Buy it, it is fantastic.

Have had this phone since the end of April & absolutely love it. It's my third Motorola & can't fault it. Apart from the screen being easily covered in fingerprints (but has to be expected from a mirror finish) it looks stunning.

I have never had a problem with broken screens, even when I dropped it on my concrete slabs outside the house (oops! ) nothing but a scrape on the corner it fell on as expected when dropped from that height!

Great quality camera, good sound quality for ringtones & easy to use. I like how you can take a picture with the phone shut using the outer screen as a viewfinder (handy for taking pictures of you & your friends so you can see what's going on).

It can be difficult to get used to if you have not got experience with Motorola as when I first changed to Motorola from Nokia all those years ago, I found it difficult.
Easy to text, use the camera & call. If you text fast, it does take a while for the writing to catch up with what you've typed, but otherwise it has everything I would look for in a phone.

Like others I loved this phone, but after 3 phones & 3 broken screens I finally gave up. Vodafone kept telling me I MUST have dropped this. I didn't. They told me that it was hitting things in my pocket, which it wasn't.

The point is, even if the phone had been knocking against my keys it should have been strong enough for this. So I traded for the new RAZR, which also has a ridiculously oversized glass screen, which also broke.

I finally managed to trade (down! ) to the W510, which has exactly the same software but with a far smaller external screen, three months on & not a single problem.

Don't buy Motorola's consumer phones, buy their business phones!

This is my second KRZR1, I originally had the phone for a year before the screen cracked. Due to the little button tale thing that's on the carry pocket you get with the phone, pressing against the screen.

Regarding the blank screen, that's only happened to me once. This was (as I was told by a forum on the KRZR1 website) due to pressure being applied to the phone. For example, it being left in your back pocket of your tight fitting jeans. After turning the phone off & taking out the battery & then sticking it back in sorted it out & I never had the problem again.

Saying that, I have to say, this phone is very robust & pretty touch. When the screen did break I was heart broken, & insisted that I got another one.

Love the design & the functionality, that if you do some playing around with the settings, are easy to work with.

All round, a fantastic phone that looks great & is a load of fun.

The second thing was I was composing a text & wanted to insert a picture & I suddenly had the option of adding a graphic, lots of pictures there which was great but I haven't been able to gain access to it again.

No flaws with the glass, just the grubby fingerprints all the time. Overall I am more than happy with this phone.

The KRZR 1 is my 5th Motorola & I love it almost unconditionally, however I agree with previous comments regarding fingerprints & racking. The fascia always looks mucky, no matter how many times I wipe it & the front glass has cracked twice (admittedly, I did drop it, but my husband had the same experience, without being a klutz, there seems to be an inherent weakness in the design). You can get a replacement front fitted at any shop that does phone repairs - no need to send it away - it costs £15 -£20. Due for an upgrade next month & may just choose the same again. Well, I've had my KRZR K1 for 12 months & had no problems - just the odd irritation! It's the only phone I know that will fit in the little 'ticket pocket' in the right-front of my jeans which is a brilliant place to keep a phone. The speaker peeks out of the top of the pocket so it's always loudly audible & the vibe is good too. It lasts about 3 days on a charge & it came with a mini SD card (supplied by O2) so it's got loads of memory for messages. It does annoy me that it is possible to accidentally cancel an incoming call by pressing one of the external buttons when pulling it out of my pocket & I can't find a way of re-assigning or disabling the external buttons. I don't normally use the camera function - although when I have the results are quite good for a toy camera. The phone has good sound quality in-call & the hands-free is good. The voice command recognition is very good indeed so long as ambient noise is reasonable & the entry in the phone book you're asking it to recognise is reasonably intelligible (no abbreviations & irregular spellings! ). I change my phone annually & I am due a change now & I'll probably get another one of these.

The video & camera were also good, no swipes while moving the phone. It looks & feels awesome (great blue colour in & out) & the external screen is very flashy & protective, no scratches. While sending through Bluetooth, it does not take long. The signal is enjoyable & not crackly. Texting is difficult at first but you a just to it.

I don't see how there are so many complainer writers here, this phone is great. I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants a non-expensive flashy phone with plenty of features. I have had nothing but trouble since I got this phone. I bought it because I actually liked the look of it & the shiny fascia was very appealing. However, for the first few weeks it kept shutting down & cutting off for no reason. The only way of getting it to work again was to plug the charger in & charge it for a few seconds. I took it back to the shop but they said that there was nothing wrong with it & that this was just one of the design problems with Motorola. If they know this, then why do they not sort it out? What a complete waste of time. To top it off, today I noticed a huge crack in the outside glass screen which has now ran across the whole screen. I have been so careful to look after this phone. I kept it in a protective case & never dropped it of anything. What I don't understand is how on earth the crack appeared when I used it last night it was not there but by the morning the screen looks like it has been stamped on. I am so upset & disappointed. It is not covered by the warranty so I have to choose to pay to have it fixed or just get a new (different) phone. By all accounts, I wish I had read the reviews on this site before buying it. I would not have wasted my money. I would advise others to buy something else.

Cool looking phone, but after having it for 10 days a crack appeared in the screen. No it was not dropped. T-Mobile was no help, said they could not take it back because it was damaged. Called Motorola they said they would repair it, if I shipped it to them. After reading similar problems here this must be a design flaw.

A few months ago my mum bought the pink version of this phone on the release date. I must admit I was quite impressed with its shiny fascia, but then I opened it only to remember it was a Motorola to be quite honest Motorola couldn't have made this phone more awkward if they had tried.

Also if you buy it remember the front is made of glass as my mum dropped it & the whole front smashed off. Besides it still working I wouldn't recommend it unless you keep your phone safe like it's your life because a little tap in your pocket & the glass front is chipped & the phone looks scruffy.

I don't KNOW WHY EVERYONE HAS PROBLEMS WITH THIS PHONE. I have dropped it a few times, & the screen has not cracked. The inbox size for texts is huge, my 512 micro SD works brilliantly.

The camera & image quality is IMMACULATE, especially when blown up onto a PC. The volume is loud, voice recognition works very well & buttons respond quickly after being pressed, battery life isn't bad, GRAPHICS like when you send a text ACTUALLY LOOK WICKED & it looks stunning, best phone I ever owned.

ONLY DOWNSIDES maybe is fingerprints are very visible on it, speaker is on underside of phone at bottom so if it's in your pocket it can be hard to hear it ringing because the speakers muffled & it takes AGES to navigate through pictures, videos & audio if you haven't got them named or organised properly.

All in all I feel very proud pulling this phone out of my pocket.

I have had this phone for 12 months now & I haven't really looked after it, I.e. I have dropped it a couple of times but I haven't had so much as a scratch on the glass cover. I had a micro SD card supplied with it also (maybe courtesy of O2).

A couple of things went wrong on it, one time I couldn't hear anyone on the other end & the other, it wouldn't tell me who my missed call was off (or even that I had one) but I just complained to O2 & they sent me a new one, done. Think this phone is perfectly fine.

I originally loved this phone when I first got it approx 2 months ago & nothing happened to the screen it was in my jeans pocket & steamed up no idea why because it was a nice day. Well Motorola have said it's not under warrantee because it is water damaged. If it only takes this to cause water damage I will go back to my old Nokia this has been through washing machine several times & still works! Will not by buying any more Motorola's!

My wife got one for her birthday 6 months ago. About an hour ago it just shattered from a 2 inch drop onto a very thick rug. Glass outer is smashed & screen is cracked from end to end. Personally I would class this as a fundamental design flaw. To all those people saying it only happens from mistreatment, I hope you remember those words when your phone is destroyed by a minor incident which would not affect any other phone I have ever encountered & don't even think about getting this phone on pay as you go unless you get some very comprehensive insurance.

But I'll mention the 6 months it worked for, since I am typing. We bought it & I got her wireless Bluetooth headphones, big memory card, etc, but the MP3 features are absolute rubbish, they sound awful & track lists are a chore to create, plus it chokes on more than 30 characters in a song title & doesn't play WMA on the pay as you go provider we got it with for 'licensing reasons'. The camera is awful, makes you wonder why they bothered.

All I can say is making mobile phones out of glass is absolute genius. I bet they were laughing for a week when they thought of that one. If you're looking for a phone on a pay as you go contract, I recommend anyone who feels like pouring £200 ($400) down the drain.

My face plate began cracking for no apparent reason as well & then it actually shattered from very little pressure. So this seems to be a problem with a few of them. They won't honour it on warranty because they label it as 'physical damage' & the cost of repairing it does not appear to be worth it. Too bad because other than this - I loved the phone, it was perfect.

I had this phone originally as an upgrade for a RAZR & I have loved it that was until I damaged the screen & had to get a replacement.

My original KRZR K1 had everything it should have & the most used feature on it was the voice commands. I think they are brilliant & was the main reason I upgraded to it. However, the replacement for my broken handset had no voice commands on it at all, so I called my service provider (Orange) & reported it. After a week of technical investigations I was told it was a fault & they would replace it. I have now had three replacements all with the voice commands missing. This has taken six weeks from my original replacement & today I have spoken to the service provider only to be told that the replacements I have received are all using the latest software update & that the voice commands have been removed from the software because of problems with their functionality. I am certain that if this were the case then Motorola would have issued a statement saying that Voice Commands were no longer a feature of this phone or any other KRZR, but they are still including this function on all of the KRZR K1 sales information.

I am so angry that I am now left with something that doesn't do what I bought it to do & rue the day I damaged my original & completely functioning, lovely phone!

Don't even get me started on this phone. The first month I had it I got a crack in the right corner. I was upset but it wasn't that noticeable. Second month I dropped my phone onto a rug from a few inches & an entire crack went up the phone. Still upset but I got over it. Next week another crack going across the phone. Even more upset. TODAY I took out my phone to call someone & the glass is literally shattered it goes across the entire phone with hundreds of cracks throughout the entire phone. It is hideous. Now to ADD to the disgusting front face, not one person can ever hear me on the phone. Talking on speaker is almost impossible. I have never been on the phone with someone without them going 'Caitlin your phone is rubbish'. Now, lets talk about how my phone won't stay alive from 10 in the morning until 12 at night, literally. This phone is the WORST. It's cute, until the screen shatters. Which it will!

I ordered the KRZR pink online a couple of days ago & I am getting it delivered in two days & since then everyone has been telling me how rubbish it is but judging by your comments it's about how well you look after it some of you have said that its terrible but that is probably because you've dropped it on the floor or your screen has cracked. The only couple of things that put me off was the memory but I am sure I will find a cheap 1G memory card somewhere & also the fascia could get really dirty & smudged because of the metallic glass look but that's nothing much to worry about I suppose! So bearing in mind that Motorola phones always turn out to be rubbish I am quite happy with my choice, Thanks your comments have really helped me.

Hi Guys,

I love my K1, admittedly my front screen cracked after just 2 days & I have no idea how it done it? I am a very careful user, it was kept in a pouch to protect it, I took it out to make a call & noticed a tiny hairline crack which just got bigger & bigger.

I hadn't dropped it or been heavy handed with it, I think perhaps the glass coating they use is not to a great standard or they have a lot of them already with invisible cracks that just get bigger with use.

Overall its a great phone, easy to use, comfortable & sleek.

I recommend this phone to all, but don't be surprised if your screen cracks on its own too, they can easily be replaced anyway so its no biggie.

It has excellent battery life & the battery meter is accurate & predictable so it's hard to get caught short, it also charges very quickly which is handy.

It has loads of functions, all of which are easy to access & use. It's also very easy to personalise the phone when you first get it which really helps with getting to grips with the phone.

Sleek, cool, stylish.

This phone is all about looks, but it's a decent, modern phone too. Yes, the big drawback is the glass front, it gets smudged like 'krzy' & can be cracked if you drop it or don't have a decent case. The cobalt blue model is simply gorgeous to look at & the external status LED's concealed in the glass faceplate are ingenious.

In terms of features, the KRZR is on par with most slim phones out there. The internal memory is slim but a $20 SD card will make it a full 1 Gig, enough for hours of MP3's or ripped DVD's. The new trend of companies selling the headset, mini-USB cable, & software separately is painfully present but not deal-breaking, what's another $20 for something barely larger than an iPod Nano with as much memory & doubles as a video player & phone?

The menus on the standard model, unlocked of course, are about what you'd expect from the RAZR, 635i or anything else from the same maker. The sound of the speakerphone is excellent & voice-dialing is robust.

Get this phone & splurge $40 on a KRZR case & the cable/headset package & you won't be disappointed. Another $20 for a micro-SD card at any non-Best-Buy computer store makes this a 1 Gig media player. Oh, & don't buff the shiny faceplate with your jacket's zipper.

Had a RAZR V3I, which got stolen. No worries. By then I was sick of it anyway. Went into stores desperately looking for a replacement phone. Bought a Samsung A800 slide phone. LOVED the big screen, easy camera & overall look. Had it for 2 days before I started noticing flaws. Plastic build made it feel flimsy, camera not very powerful & call quality was rubbish & got progressively worse. Eventually gave up & went back to the store, where moaned very loudly until they took it back. Bought the KRZR K1 instead. $20 more. INFINITELY better, in every respect. Also INFINITELY better than my old RAZR. LOVE this phone. I have an Ipod, so I don't use the MP3 player & I don't care about WAP browsers & I don't need the über-high-rez screen. I just want the phone to look good, work well & do what it's designed to do as well as possible. This KRZR K1 does all that. I'll never leave Moto for Samsung again. Until Sammy comes out with a metal build, 2mp camera phone with EDGE & a sleek case :).

Not impressed with this phone. I purchased it because of sleek design & features (especially liked that it had a speaker phone).

My screen cracked after 9 days. I took it back to the store where they had told me I could return it for 15 days for ANY reason. I was told that I could not return it because it wasn't in 'like new' condition. How about stating that when you sell it to the customer? the girl had said I could return it for ANY reason within 15 days. Well, clearly not if the phone has a design definitely this thing around for another 2 years I'd rather have the crack covered).

What really upset me was the way I was treated by the sales assistant when I went to return the phone. He told me that if I bought a TV & cracked the screen that I would be able to return it (a statement I do not agree with). I told him that I did not abuse or neglect the phone or do something to purposely crack the screen. I told him the reason I was returning the phone was because I didn't like the performance of the phone & that the crack was now another incentive to take it back (come on, I only had it 9 days). He then told me that if I purchased a car & crashed it, I wouldn't be able to return it. I explained to him once again (this time not so nicely) that I hadn't thrown the phone or done something to purposely crack it. I was insulted that he spoke to me the way he did & found it belittling that he thought I couldn't tell the difference between a definitely part.

I told a manager what this employee had said to me. He said it was unacceptable that this individual spoke to me this way, but did not offer me any sort of compensation to repair customer relations & the employee was not reprimanded because I didn't know his name (although I knew the individual who had helped me before this man who I am sure could have identified the culprit. They do work together in the same store.)

I can't stand that I can't delete the stupid definitely comes out of the mouth piece when you put it on speaker mode. For some odd reason, the ear piece stops emitting sound when you put it on speaker phone.

Okay well I bought the phone. Absolutely adorable no one can resist. To all you other teens & fellow readers don't buy the phone. My story kind of goes like this:

I was really happy. I got my phone on my birthday of course id brag & tell everyone! Yeah. Then one of my friends came over & wanted to make a call to someone, she noticed a crack in the screen. She asked, 'Is this like your parent's old phone? '. I being angry said 'No! Not like you have a phone', she replied 'Well don't get angry just because there's a crack in your screen, takes a lot to put a crack in your mobile phone screen! '. I was shocked! MY PARENTS WERE GOING TO KILL ME! I returned it & the lady was nice so she totally understood what had happened. She told me many incidents like this occurred. Now I am happy with my LG chocolate. NO WORRIES WITH THIS ONE IT'S A KRZY PHONE!

Unfortunately dead. But I don't think you can blame Motorola for that!

I have two of these (ordered at the same time) & I am amazed by how many people have rated the features so highly. Firstly, it has no flash, not a big deal but if you're like me & own a digital camera then taking photos with a phone is mainly something reserved for nights out taking pics of your mates doing stupid things when drunk, no good with no flash. It has no task list, which is a basic feature of most phones. You cannot copy Java files to the phone, which means to install games or, in my case, install a Java Tasks app, you have to use wap which costs money. The iTAP system it uses is pretty awful too & while I am sure I'll get used to it the T9 system on other phones is much more intuitive.

I have had this phone now for about a Month. I bought a clear acrylic cover because I like the looks of this phone all by itself. I then bought a 2gig micro memory card & a hands-free Bluetooth speaker gadget for the car.

I have connected this to my PC via USB. I am able to copy pictures & music without any problems at all. Vista sees this & opens the folders as though it were a removable drive. I have admin rights & choose to see hidden files & folders as well so I see it all.

I can convert movies to 3GP & watch them. There is no problem there either. I can use mp3s for ringtones so I can wait for the Motorola tools for a while longer.

Only thing I noticed that I don't like is the screen is very difficult to see while out doors & the keypad leaves an impression on the screen, which I have to wipe off every time I open the phone. It looks these folks used fingerprint oils to coat the keys.

No cracks or quirks at all as I can tell. I like the phone & every Bluetooth headset or device I try seems to like it too.

It's got a nice beat & it's easy to dance to. I give it an 8.5. Hoy bout you John?

I got my new KZKR 3 weeks ago as an upgrade. I was very impressed with the phone, particuarly the looks. Functions are good & as I am familiar with Motorola handsets it was very easy to get used to. Although I haven't (yet) experienced the cracked glass problems lots of people seem to be having, last night my phone simply 'died'. I didn't drop or abuse the phone (although I've sworn at it since - does that count as abuse? ) the screen simply blanked out to white with no sounds or functions available. Tried taking out battery, SIM etc but to no avail. Once battery is put back in, the HELLOMOTO logo appears (without sound jingle) then screen blanks out to white. Not able to turn off the phone unless you remove the battery. I am getting the phone replaced no problem, however has anybody else had this kind of problem?

Took out a 12 month contract online for this phone & received it yesterday. So far, just been at home, playing about with it, the PC synching software is great, being able to edit length of tracks & also getting a USB cable with it is great too, saved me buying off eBay.

One thing with the phone though is I cannot seem to get the flash to work on the camera - it says there is a flash on this website but nothing in the manual about it?

I am really rather worried about all the comments on cracking glass - the phone looks I guess made me want to have it, but also a Motorola phones are sturdy & have a real solid feel to them but are stylish at the same time. I was replacing it from a Nokia 6111 in pink which felt too plasticky & I had a problem with the slide function & had to get another after only a few weeks. I am thinking of buying a protective cover for the phone anyway as the finger marks are already annoying me. I always keep my mobiles in a separate compartment of a handbag to avoid scratches & also always have insurance so I will be careful with this phone.

If anyone can advise on the flash though that would be great, I thought it may even be automatic I.e. If not enough light but no!

My wife bought this phone from a very well known mobile phone retail shop in Liverpool UK less than a month ago. She purchased a padded draw string bag to protect it from the same shop & was so pleased with her new purchase she wouldn't let any one else use it or even touch it!

She had it in her coat pocket in the bag & pulled it out & low & behold the front screen is cracked from top to bottom. She swears blind she has not bumped it whatsoever & she does not tell lies.

We took it back to the shop & the assistant proceeded to accuse my wife of damaging the phone (using a pair of scissors in a stabbing motion to show the way it could have happened!) & denying that the sale of goods act covers her purchase in any shape or form.

I apologized to the growing queue of people behind us & all they said it's OK. We are returning phones too!

If anyone out there is thinking of buying this phone, think carefully as all the people on this website have deep regrets about the way they have been treated by Motorola or the shop they purchased it from as we do now & we do not want you to have to suffer the embarrassment we had to endure pointing out this obvious design fault in front of a shop full of trusting customers like we once were!

Hello everybody, I am writing this comment not from UK but from USA. I got my Motorola KRZR last February from Cingular in USA. 3 days later, one of my friends called me. I took it out from my pocket. No cracks, no nothing. Everything is fine. I talked to my friend for 30 seconds & hung up. Then I saw the CRACK ON the outer SCREEN. No dropping, no scratching, no throwing. Just talking on the phone is enough for the screen to CRACK! I knew about the cracking problems before I bought the KRZR, but I thought it wouldn't happen to me. If you are planning on getting a KRZR, think again! You DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING to get that screen CRACKED. I am an engineer & can assure you that's a design fault. I contacted Cingular to get it replaced. Guess what they said? I dropped it & that's why it cracked & warranty doesn't cover physical damage. I am sorry but I know what I did what I did not. I am waiting for a recall from Motorola.

When my old Motorola (the v620) died after 2 years of use (the screen light died for anyone wondering), I was anxious to get a phone but didn't want to settle for one of the ugly Nokia/Sony Ericsson phones the market was inundated with. I wasn't overly keen on the RAZR because it's so wide & flat it feels out of proportion in my hand (I have stupidly small hands). But I am familiar with Motorola's, so wanted to wait for their next design. So when the RAZR came out I was over the moon, & made the shift from PAYG to contract (£30 student with Orange) as that was all it was available on.

For the first month or so I loved it. Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful phone, but it's not made for anyone that doesn't live in a padded room.

My first annoyance with it is that unlike my old Motorola, if I am sending a message to several recipients, it automatically changes an SMS to a MMS, which means that if I am texting someone with a basic or old phone, that they can't receive it. (Not great when you're organising a meeting).

Secondly, although it's beautiful & shiny when in the shops, the second you use it you get grubby fingerprints on it (no matter how clean your hands are) which gets harder & harder to clean as time goes by. You must get camera lens/glasses clothes as it scratches very easily I found.

the screen cracked about 2 months in. Literally in my pocket. Not even tight jeans, but loose cotton cargo pants with nothing else in the pocket. I was devastated. Mainly because the crack went right across the glass in front of the camera thus rendering that useless.

There is a very noticeable buzzing noise, like a bee, that comes from the keypad when you're using it. I presume this to be the processor or something as it sounds similar to a laptops whining. I am not sure if that is a fault with it, but certainly an observation.

Lastly, when I went to access my text messages yesterday, I couldn't get into my inbox, outbox or drafts. I could get into the text message menu, but the second I selected one of those options it freezes, & you have to switch it off & restart it. It's extremely frustrating, as I am a student & so most of our social communication is by text & I can't read them. It also doesn't tell me when I have a & voicemail message, as that comes under those options. If someone calls you & leaves an answer phone message it doesn't come up as a missed call for some reason, so I have to keep ringing my voicemail to see if I have any messages.

I thought it was letting me send texts, as id managed to write one, & select the name but the second I pressed send it shut itself down again.

I am currently trying to get that fault sorted out through Orange care which I pay an extra £6/month for. Appalled at their service as their diagnostics department is yet to get back to me (they tried to send me a sim update to clear it, which obviously didn't work as I couldn't open it). It is a nightmare because my contract has little talk time but compensates for that with 1000 texts, which I can't use! & if they have to take my phone in, they'll charge me £15 admin fees, (more if they insist that the cracked screen has caused it), & I have no idea how I'll get a replacement phone because I live in city centre accommodation where post barely reaches us!

DO NOT BUY IT ON Orange their customer service & Orange care is appalling. All in all I have spent +-90mins on the phone (which I am hoping is free) trying to get the phone & contract sorted out only to have them tell me that I need to write to some PO box no (which ironically is just down the road from me). They were unwilling to help instore & I currently have several major coursework deadlines & have little spare time to spend on the phone to clueless workers or writing letters to faceless addresses.

I was completely misold this phone & neither Motorola nor Vodafone seems to want to take responsibility. It came with syncing software in the box but it wouldn't work. On contacting Motorola I found that they are fully aware of this & say this software only works with the original RzR. the software for my phone has not been fully developed yet & won't be out until some time in April when I will then be expected to buy it for 15 - 20 pounds.

Why sell a phone saying it does all this fancy stuff when you can't actually use it. (Trade descriptions act springs to mind). Motorola are saying it's Vodafone's fault as the should have told me. Vodafone are saying they are aware of this but unless you ask the wouldn't tell you & that Motorola shouldn't be putting the software in the box.' Wee only sell the airtime not the product. Take it up with Motorola' my phone is going back to the shop. I won't be dealing with Motorola or the Vodafone shop again. I am going back to carphone warehouse for a Nokia!

I am in agreement with many of you over the cracked glass problem of this mobile phone. In later days I owned a V600, great phone but used to slip through fingers too easy, a little fiddly for those with big fingers. Gave it to my wife who loves it. Replaced with V3x. You know when you're holding this excellent phone plus with the easy grip coating on the body Motorola must have listened to previous moans.

Well, until some bright spark thought 'lets coat the Krazr with glass'. Not a good idea! As many of you have found out. Glass is not particularly flexible, attracts dust & particles & once scratched that's it forever.

The two things that really impress me with Moto RAZR phones is expandable memory for MP3's & the excellent voice recognition software which keeps me from changing to other makes. In addition quad band compatibility.

So the answer to all your problems, return your phone & get hold of V3x RAZR, same features but a lot less problems. Unfortunately will lose out to Samsung.

The phone functions as it is told to do while looking spectacular. The A2DP Bluetooth makes its MP3 player & video functions twice as great as I thought. The media player is not as great as the LG phones get. There are no visualizations for the audio files. It may be very stylish but I think the style is also its downfall making the screen smaller too. I had an LG CU500 before the KRZR though & the KRZR does not perform up to it. The camera on the CU500 is better even though both phones don't have a flash function. The exterior of the phone gets fingerprints way too easily so I find myself wiping the phone off often.

The phone is still great but I would rather have an LG CU500 phone.

Also, when I flip the phone down to take a self portrait, (& you use the smart key to take the photo) it won't even take it. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS. I WANT TO KNOW IF YOU OTHERS ARE HAVING the SAME DILEMA.

Also one more thing.

When you miss a call, & you press the side key, does it tell you who called? (Like on old motos? )

Cuz mine doesn't. Thank you all. Please reply ASAP!

Hi, I've just got this phone & I am impressed overall. I like the design, its slim & compact but feels fairly robust (apart from the glass front which I am just waiting to see spontaneously crack as so many others have reported) & the buttons are laid out quite well except for the launch browser button which I seem to keep hitting by mistake when using the up/down/left/right buttons.

I've just switched from a Samsung Z500 & the KRZR seems far superior, also managed to Bluetooth over my entire phonebook which saved a lot of time.

I do have one problem though - in the phonebook menu I don't have the option to choose a primary number if a contact has more than one number saved (Mobile & Landline, for example). The manual states I should be able to do this, does anyone else have this option & if so why on earth is it missing from my menu?

I have sent Motorola an email so hopefully they will be able to sort it out for me.

Also, has anyone downloaded any software updates from the Motorola website? Have you noticed any differences & is it worth the hassle?

Lovely phone, easy to use but one problem - after 30 days a cracked screen! Has only been in my handbag & pocket. Purchased from car phone warehouse who have said it will cost £40 to repair! I pointed out this problem is obviously a known fault as I have read reviews of people with the same problem but he said Motorola won't issue a formal notification & until they say the sale of goods act does not cover the fault! Even though it clearly is not fit for purpose as its design means it may break if you put it in your handbag or pocket!

How glad I did, the phone looks fantastic & feels great to hold, it is so easy to use (I had a Samsung x830 before & couldn't get used to it) the camera is very clear & I have put a load of music on it today ( this I have never done before & I can't believe how easy it was) so for anyone reading this, GO AHEAD & BUY the krzr, you will not be disappointed!

Just got this phone on contract & already having problems. Took some photos of the kids & added it as the wallpaper. After a few hours the wallpaper that I had selected disappeared. I went through the menus & checked to see if the wallpaper I selected was still selected, & it was. Amazingly the wallpaper returned. I also started getting new text tones when there were no texts. This kept happening over a few days so I took it back to T mobile shop who reluctantly exchanged. After a few days of using the replacement phone it started happening again. I am now going to take it back & exchange it again. I wondered if anyone else has had this problem.

I really like the phone & it's a shame that this is happening. I keep wondering when T Mobile might actually take it upon them selves to talk to T Mobile about this problem to see if there is a software glitch.

This is my first MOTO phone & I am finding the menu system not very intuitive. Just trying to find out how to change your shorts is not straight forward. I think Motorola could learn a thing or to from Nokia on that front.

The problem is I like the look of the phone & can't see anything else I like on the market. Because of that I am going to persist in getting one that works.

If it wasn't for these problems I would not have any problems recommending this phone. But as it stands, stay well clear!

This phone works great, unless you overload it with 15 different commands at once. To all you that are not happy, the design is clearly not flawed, it is you that is flawed, I have had the phone for two months, within the first week I spent five dollars on a case. A phone like the krzr k1 is not meant to be dropped, sat on, thrown, or any other abrupt force applied to it. If you want to avoid cracking the glass, it's a delicate phone, intended to look nice not be used as a hammer.

Don't know what all the fuss is about. It's a good phone & does what it says on the tin. Put a 2GB card in it & you have good MP3 player. Takes good pictures & makes & receives calls. Bought 2 of em. One for me & One for wife, even she loves it. Nokia's these days may be full of features but they are just too bulky & too be honest how many times are you going to use all the features. Ringtones are a bit naff & typical Motorola but just download some & away you go. I like it anyway & I have always been dedicated to Nokia.

The K1 is a stylish, pretty phone. I upgraded from a V3 because I liked the look of it & assumed it would be at least as good, if not better than the V3. BIG MISTAKE.

The phone hangs when I open a MMS picture. This problem was checked in the shop on 8 K1 phones, & the problem was found on 6 of them. I got one that worked, but that only lasted 12 hours until it hung again.

The synchronization function destroyed my Outlook data (& I am quite experienced at using it having run it for 2 years with a V3).

The Categories field does not synchronies, which means all phone numbers are allocated into a general group & have to be manually shifted.

The phone contacts defaults to a complete list & cannot be set to a category so finding a number takes 2-10 more keystrokes than the V3.

With all the problems I haven't tested tested the camera & music functions for ease of use. I decided that the phone isn't with the effort. Despite being a Motorola fan, I have agreed to exchange it for a Nokia. Not as pretty, but at least it should work.

But is it hard to use. & slow.

Every time I opened the case it went on to 'voice activation', but I cured that with superglue in the side button.

Predictive texting, scrolling the menus, everything is just so slow.

I have broken every other phone I have had (every manufacturer & every type) when they are clipped to my belt & pop off getting in & out of the car. I am hoping since this phone is so small & I can stick it in my pocket instead of on my belt it will be saved from damage, time will tell, until them I LOVE IT. The only thing I don't like is I switched to Cingular from Verizon & Cingular won't insure music camera phones. Think they know something their not telling us? To be honest, I am reasonably happy with it. I only got it cos it was pretty. My last 2 phones have been Samsungs & much better. The camera on this is supposed to be 2MP, but it's awful - very fuzzy on anything remotely up close, even on the 'best' settings. I also find it very slooooow (I am quite a fast texter). Can imagine having major problems with this phone further down the line - not too pleased at having it for 18 months! Don't know how it'll cope if I should drop it.

Summary - gorgeous looking phone, but pretty basic.

A design fault that no-one else has mentioned is that the external speaker is on the bottom of the phone. That means that if you lay it down on a soft surface, a cushion, or the arm of a chair, then you can't hear the thing ring! Also, the Phone Tools included with the phone don't work! Had this phone about a week now. Features wise it isn't as cutting edge as Sony Ericsson but this phone looks great.

I hope the issues some people are getting with cracked screens isn't a design fault. A handful of people complaining on a website doesn't equate to a design fault. ONLY time will tell.

I work in the carphone warehouse at an express repair centre store (we deal with repairs for the whole of the south Inc. Other retailers) & I haven't seen a k1 come back with a cracked screen yet.

One thing I am having trouble with is the USB connection to the PC. The software keeps crashing & I cannot transfer music/pictures directly from PC to phone. So I am having to transfer data via the memory card reader. Doesn't DO WHAT IT SAYS ON the TIN. But I can live with it!

I waited & waited to upgrade my old RAZR, It was one of the very first in the shops. Finally came the KRZR, an all new design from Motorola that I felt was as striking as my old phone had been when I bought it all that time ago. So I rushed out & again bought one of the first out there.

However, nearly 3 moths down the line. My Fancy new phone is now residing with an independent research company to see if the GLASS FRONT is CRACKED as a result of my mishandling of said phone or whether it did indeed break when I placed it down on the cushion of my arm chair! (Yes that really is how it happened) & so hence the 5% usability rating!

It is clear to all, that the KRZR has a serious design fault & I now learn that I may be asked to pay £40 to have it repaired. This is criminal as the phone is not up to the task for which it was sold.

So much for customer loyalty eh! Thanks a bunch Motorola.

For someone with smaller than average hands, I found the V3 difficult for texting. This phone is much easier to text with, but people with bigger hands may find they will hit the 'send' button (which doesn't ask for confirmation, but sends it immediately) when they meant to hit the 'delete character' button (below it).

I am so disappointed. I bought my phone 20 days ago, & I loved it. Today I pulled it out to use it & found a crack across the front panel. I have no idea how this could have happened. I still love the features, but I am angry that I will have this broken phone until my plan runs out since my wireless carrier says it can't be fixed. I've always used Motorola phones & never had a problem, but I will think twice about using Motorola in the future!

My wife got this phone & within 3 weeks a crack had appeared diagonally across the front under the screen, but beneath the veneer. Carphone Warehouse claim it's not a warranty issue & that we should contact Motorola direct. Hardly 'fair wear & tear'. Rubbish.

I think Chance from Australia has a good point to share, this phone is eye catching for a Moto phone & yes it is packed with some good features but Moto are not pushing themselves with this design, thin, slim & glossy with a shine but no wowwww factor to speak of.

Sorry Moto fans but I would stick with cutting edge designs & technology from Sony Ericsson.

I just picked this phone up 2 days ago & I love it already. It's a very sleek phone. I love the design. Although, can anyone recommend a Bluetooth that would work well with this & also not look so "bluetoothy". Essentially, what is the sleekest looking Bluetooth that would be compatible with this thing? Thanks

Had lots of different manufacturers phones over the years both as private owned & company phones & I keep coming back to Motorola. I have just bought this after a short period of owning a V3 I have to say I much prefer the style of this. The finish is very good & flows nicely. The functions are all there & they have improved the sync software as you are able to transfer a decent amount of detail not unlike the previous software which left a lot to be desired. Some of the menus are not easy to find but it does have the auto setup functions if you can be bothered to read the manual & explore the phone properly. WAP has been no problems just go to the correct menu select your service provider & all is done for you. I have no doubt many will get broken & they are not a brick built phone that can be thrown around a little care should see this phone through to the next upgrade or impulse purchase. I really like mine & will be sticking with it until Motorola come out with something nicer in the future.

I would avoid this phone as the front glass cracks easily & Motorola will not honor a repair via warranty & it costs £40 a time to replace so until they are willing to admit it's a flaw in the phone & they need to use a tougher glass I would get one of these. Mine cracked after 3 weeks & the only thing I can put it to is having it in my coat pocket & the pressure of the seat belt being over it! Watch this space as time goes on & more & more glass breaking reports are added.

Yeah Great Phone, but WAP settings are a pain to get hold of, I've had the phone before it came out in the UK as an import from Japan & have been trying all this time to get the WAP settings.

This phone is magnificent. While it might not be a technical marvel in terms of having all those useless features that I won't actually use (i.e. 4MP camera LOL) but what it does have in terms of features is sufficient. The build quality of the phone is actually really good compared to the V3. The look is great & like no other phone on the market (in terms of the glass & shininess on the front) & the PEBL-like rubber back is really cool. If you have a pulse you can work out the IU of the K1. Stop complaining & learn to use it LOL.

Do not buy this phone! Was really impressed when I received the phone 3 weeks ago, very stylish, easy to use, loved it. Have now realised it is a flimsy bit of rubbish. Phone was in my handbag sitting on a table when someone walked past & accidentally knocked it off the table. Hour or so later got phone out to find that the front had completely smashed & the screen inside didn't work it was white. I am extremely annoyed that what I thought was a beautiful phone can shatter so easily. Do not buy this phone unless you are planning to keep it wrapped up in bubble wrap!

Have just purchased this phone & I'm finding it impossible to get the WAP settings, being bounced from service provider to manufacturer with each blaming the other one for not having them. Has anybody else had this problem as I note that in the USA they seemed to have similar problems with it? Apart from this it is a very stylish phone.

The long-awaited upgrade to the RAZR V3 (one of the few decent looking handsets from Motorola). I have to admit, Motorola have made a nice design with quality features this time around. Let's just hope that not as much dust can easily access the display like the V3's main problem.

The handset is of a good size, & looks thin in every way. If you plan to buy a Motorola, this one should be included in the list!

Upgraded to this from the V3i. If you like the V3i you'll love the krzr. Works exactly the same really with some little tweaks here & there, for example I find the text messaging better. Looks cool & feels really nice in the hand. The V3 had to be one of the best mobile designs ever & this is even better. I do have to say though that I do find it a little girly, not in a big way but it's just so shiny & does show all your fingerprints.

Motorola have never really made a design that has standed out from the crowd, & sadly, this design doesn't change it a bit. The design is more thinner from the front then compared to the V3, improved camera, & smaller screen. The usability is av for a Motorola.

Best to stay with Sony Ericsson people.
