I had this phone since December 2010 & I can honestly say that it has been the best phone I ever had. Rugged, waterproof, dustproof & scratchproof ( tested it myself). The phones works perfectly, never freezes & its full of top fitures.I heard that the upgrade version is coming on the market now (Motorola defy +) & I am really looking forward to get one of those, ones my contract comes to an &. It would be nice if they upgraded the new phone with better camera & HD recording but I hope that will happend in the future. Once you get that you will have perfect package for the any kind of adventure.

I've had this phone since December & I've had some problems with it. First & foremost, the enormous crack that has appeared on the screen!

The phone had been in my pocket at work, I had looked at it & put it in my bag then driven home. When I took it out of the bag, as I've done countless times before, there was a large crack in the corner of the screen. I am really disappointed that supposedly rugged phone has broken so easily.

The phone is also quite laggy in general. Pinching & zooming in the browser is very slow, as is multi touch in the gallery.

Battery life is pretty good for an Android phone, if you switch off the Wi-Fi & gps.

All in all, I would say there are much better budget Smartphones on the market.

First off. I like this phone. There a few things that irritate but I'll get onto them.

The good.
- Nice design & size. While I respect the higher end phones they are on the large side & if that is what you want then great but I like my phones to be pocket friendly.
- I am not gentle with my phones so really like the fact that it's a bit tougher than most.
- The screen is fine, it's no iPhone etc but then it's not in the same price bracket either.
- I am probably alone in this but I like all of the standard features including Motoblur. ! I've tried most of the other launchers on the market & kept on coming back to what comes out of the box.
- Simple to use but with great Smartphone features.

Not so good.
- I sometimes have to remove the battery to get it to reset the Wi-Fi & operator signals. I stress that this is sometimes. I've had the phone for 5 weeks & had to do this 3 times so no big problem & I am hoping the forthcoming Android 2.2 upgrade later this year sorts this.

All in all I am pleased with my choice & would recommend this phone to friends.

Bought it privately as new from someone on T-mobile for £250 October 2010. Unlocked it online for £15. Used Moto RSD lite or something to debrand, so no more T-mobile rubbish.

Tested in water, red wine (LOL) tried scratching it with keys & screwdriver just to prove a point. Drop it on purpose & kicked with a foot to give it a good workout.

Update to Froyo is coming from Motorola as well so I do not know if that is plus or minus.

The BEST PHONE I EVER OWNED. I WISH IT HAS BEEN RELEASED SOONER. FIND MYSELF SPENDING LESS TIME ON MY PC, WITH EMAILS & WEB AT MY FINGERTIPS ON THIS PHONE.

I am in building trade & this is the best phone ever for me. It also has original Motorola car phone holder which mounts to screen & charges the phone via back plate. No wires to plug in. Oh it has built in car dock application, with great sat nav where you speak to where you want to go or search for nearby shops or suppliers.

Improved my mobile life 100 fold for sure. I would by one tomorrow again & again. Hope it helps.

I have had this phone about a week & a half, it keeps dropping calls also the screen goes black & freezes it also locks up when trying to get on the Web, gets stuck in online mode apart from that this could be a good phone once they sort all the issues. Exchanging it for a new set tommorow lets hope this one is better LOL.

Had this phone for 2 weeks now & can only rate it highly, I was looking at Smartphone's for ages, my son has an iPhone but didn't like the fragile build & of course the high price tag, the Defy appealed to me with the added feature of strength, I work in construction & was looking for a strong Smartphone that doesn't need a case, I found it, dust proof & water proof.

The phone has all the Android features & does more than I ever thought a phone could do, I don't know the difference between Android 2.1 & 2.2 but it works well with the installed 2.1, although I have read that Motorola will upgrade to 2.2 next year. The apps are good & I have the same ones as my son, so iPhone doesn't have it all in fact my son admits my phone is very good, especially at half the price of his, iPhone seems to me to be a fashion item, everyone wants one but I like to be different I guess.

Overall I would highly recommend this phone, in fact my wife went out & bought one the next day after seeing mine.

The strong glass screen runs smooth & connecting to the Internet is so quick. The picture quality is very good & as yet have been unable to fault this phone, I think after using this phone, everyone should have a Smartphone, can't believe I never got one ages ago.

Hi all, I've had 2 of these phones in the last 2 weeks. Had nothing but problems with them. Both kept dropping calls, 1st one would just switch off & wouldn't let me download apps, got it exchanged but then 2nd one started dropping calls & screen was freezing after calls. It might be waterproof but it needs to be more reliable for doing what it's supposed I.e. Making calls. I have now exchanged 2nd phone for a Nokia C7 & so far so good with it.
