LG U8380 3G Phone Review

The LG U8380 is an attractive two tone silver coloured 3G mobile phone which comes with a clamshell opening mechanism. The phone has an external antenna & external colour screen. The phone measures 97.1 x 51.6 x 25 mm including the battery which provides the user with a small but chunky mobile handset. The handset is not light as it weighs a total of 139 grams but this weigh provides the user with a solid & durable handset. The U8380 is a member of U range designed by LG which includes the LG U8330, LG U8360 & the LG U8290.

The internal screen comes with a TFT type display which provides a 176 x 220 pixel screen resolution with 262k bright colours. The user can also view information on the phones external display which is a TFT 65k colour screen. The phone comes with a dual camera feature which allows the user to take part in video calling. The U8380 has a 1.3 megapixel camera complete with built in flash feature to ensure that photos can be taken in duller conditions. The user can use the second camera which is a VGA camera to record themselves as part of the video calling experience. The phone comes with a photo album so therefore the user can save their photos & view them at any time in the future. The LG U8380 provides the user with a video recording feature which allows the user to record video footage in MPEG4 format. The user can record & play back video on the phone. The user can play their own video recording & video recording that are sent to them from other contacts.

The multimedia messaging service (MMS) allows the user to create, send, receive & save messages which include text with sound & either a photo or video clip. The MMS service allows the user to share their photos & video with other contacts easily. The MMS message can only be sent to other MMS compatible mobile phone users. The user can create, send, receive & store emails on their LG U8380 which works just like the email service provided on their personal computer. The messaging services also include text messaging (SMS) & enhanced messaging service (EMS) which are both effective ways to communicate with other contacts. The LG U8380 comes with 23 Mbytes of internal memory & the user can expand the phones memory by using the hot swappable TransFlash™ memory cards which provides the user with as much memory as they require.

The integrated media player allows the user to play music in either MP3 or ACC formats & video in MPEG4 formats. The sound quality on the phone will really get everyone moving as it can be heard through the phones stereo speakers. The user can download all their favourite latest music tracks & either enjoy simply listening to them or even assign them as a ringtone to be heard each time a call comes in. The phone can play ringtones in MP3, ACC & polyphonic MIDI formats.

The U8380 comes with embedded Java™ games & the user can download more games of their choice. The phone comes with a highly useable phone book which will store all of the contacts details & numbers. The user can use the calendar to get organised & use the phones alarm clock to get them out of bed in the morning. The phone comes with changeable picture wallpapers, picture screensavers & colourful themed displays which the user can change to suit their taste.

The LG U8380 is a 3G phone which means that the speed is faster & the technology is highly improved on this phone. The phone comes with good connectivity as the user can connect to other devices using a wired connection with a USB cable or a wireless connect with the use of Bluetooth®. The phone can connect to any Bluetooth® compatible device which allows the user to print, transfer, download, save & talk with the use of a wireless connection.

The picture comes out very blurred. The video recorder is not very good & when you play your videos you can't here the sound properly. The video's are also blurred when you play them! The phone has a good menu & a good choice of things to use. The text message is good is clear when you speak but when you make a video call the picture isn't very good.

The phone is good but if you want to get a phone with a good camera/video recorder then it is not a good phone to buy. The phone is quite chunky & has a big aerial. If you are looking for a slim phone then it also not a very good phone to buy.

yo im talkin about a propa fon ere, this is the best phone eva made its so class, nice lookin great features & super surround sound, twin cams propa amaizin, able 2 use the smallest memory card in the world. 2 many gd stuff 2 list !!! every 1 should get it (apart of retards)!!! talk 2 u l8r

The phone is brill its got what I need ( 256K screen, 65K external screen the biggest of any other phone, 1.3 MP camera, video recorder, bluetooth, mp3 player with expandable memory)also this phone is so great, everything on it is the highest quality & has all the features u need.

Outstanding performance from this phone & I have found the Bluetooth & 3G technologies make an massive difference to this phone. I am amazed at the speed, reliability & possibilities on this phone. I am using the video calling, 1.3 mega pixel camera & music player every day & the performance & quality is astonishing. A fantastic phone. The only bad fed back I have for potential buyers is that this phone is expensive to buy initially but worth it in the long run.

Only had my new phone 4 a week & I am still getting my head around all the built in features. I have used all the messaging features like SMS, MMS, Email & EMS. My favourite messages are MMS & I had trouble sending my Emails which was a nightmare. I have printed out loads of photos of my friends using the USB cable & the photos were excellent. I like having music on my phone but needed help to get the music onto my phone. Good sound on the U8380 which is what I wanted from the phone. I did like the look of the Sony Ericsson W950i but went for this phone as it was on a 3 network & a better deal. Happy with it but still working everything out as its not easy to work all the features.
