I had this phone for 14 months still good as new, good battery life. Great sound (with headphones) well worth the £80 I paid for it.

I gave the design a lower than expected rating because although it looks nice, the looks certainly get in the way of its functionality, which is actually a terrible way to design things! It interferes rendering the phone useless. Plus the internal design mapping is nonsensical & inflexible.
I regret purchasing this phone. My screen cracked (or had a LCD crystal) without any pressure or knock to the phone. Even worse, in under a year it had 2 batteries. If there is sunshine outdoors, don't even try to use your phone. Because you can't. You honestly CAN'T SEE the SCREEN! All you see is the mirror!
I've complained to the company directly & to the retailer & they have been nothing but rude & uncaring (& denying there is anything wrong with it, when all they have to do is take it outside if there's any sun). Rubbish phone, rubbish company. This was my second & final, chance with an LG product & I was upset with both items. STAY AWAY FROM LG OR YOU'LL REGRET WASTING YOUR MONEY!
I wish I could give it a usability rating of 0 rather than a 5%. Ho

This phone is an absolute beauty :).
It looks great, it works well & it is easy to use once you get used to it! I dropped it in the sea (about 2 feet deep) & it was there for 20 seconds minimum & it is still working fine! I would recommend it to anyone!
Only bad thing is it was meant to come with a USB cable & didn't :(.

I got this phone a few months ago & I love it I don't know why everyone is moaning about poor battery life because I listened to 10 songs & the battery was still full the only real downside to this phone is it doesn't have a FM radio & it doesn't come with earphones but apart from that it is a good phone.

Hi, I have LG shine & it is amazing phone. Actually, I have a problem right now with it, when I call anybody, it said that the network is busy & I cannot call anybody. I tried the SIM card in another phone & the card is perfect & is working very well so what is the reason of this problem. Can anybody help me please? Thank you very much.

I don't see why everyone is complaining about this phone because I have had it for over 2 years & have not had a single problem with it. It's a very stylish & easy to use phone. I have dropped this phone on concrete floors over 30 times & the phone is still in great condition with about 2 extremely faint scratches. I HIGHLY recommend THIS PHONE! IT'S AMAZING!

When this first came out I loved the look of it & felt I had to get it regardless of whether it was any good or not.
At first it was good, I became really protective as you do but it just seemed to attract scratches, fingerprints & all sorts of different grease & dirt.
I have had it for about 20 months now (had an 18month contract) & I now can't wait to get another phone its driving me insane!
My screen keeps going blank whenever it wants to & will just come back to life again whenever it fancies, thing is there's still sound & I have been able to turn in my MP3 player without even seeing what I am doing!
Also it takes ages to load anything & if you scroll, it either goes where you want to go, goes way to fast past where you want to go or doesn't move at all! Before this I had a Nokia which after 4 years was still working like new, I am going back to Nokia as of next week & I WOULD NOT recommend THIS TO anyone!

I walked into carphone warehouse & I saw the LG shine & I wanted it really really badly so I brought it took it home I thought it was a great phone I found that the battery life is not great. It is very stylish & it is a great phone even though it has its bad bits but I would recommend it to someone who wanted a stylish easy to use.

The sound is very very low. The first cell of battery goes down after hearing only one song. If the flash is on for one minute, the battery will go down. Poor battery life
The zoom of camera is fake, it is not 2 megapixel, it is 2x zoom, you will see if you purchase it. You ant even hear the calls. Instead it has low sound but sound is not clear when you have set equalizer in bass. Don't BUY IT. Useless PHONE.

The LG Shine is a rather stylish looking phone, the features are easily accessible with shortcuts & programmable favourites, the MP3 player is a nice quality, the camera works damn well (if not a little slow). The video quality is rather good but I have not used the video player that much. It is an easy to use mid range phone, & I quite like it, I picked it up for about £60 quid, brand new. It has a few little annoying things but they can all be solved quite easily with a little thinking
Pros.
- Stylish.
- Good quality MP3 player.
- Good quality video player.
- Good camera.
- Easily changeable settings.
- Doubles as a mirror.
Cons.
- Battery life is quite short
- the scroll bar sometimes over shoots the particular part of the menu you want to use
it attracts finger prints & scratches.
Possible solutions for cons.
- Battery life, not much you can do here, except change a few settings & hope.
- Scroll bar, this was an apparent issue when they were testing the phone's functionality, there are shortcuts built into the phone, I.e. Home screen, menu, 9 will get you to settings, most of the shortcuts are keypad related, & you can put the settings that you change the most into the favourites menu so you don't have to scroll through menus all the time
- Fingerprints & scratches, while there is not much you can do about scratching (not that it happens often) you can sort the fingerprints out quite easily by wiping the screen with a cloth or a jacket or whatever is handy, most materials clean it, also, too many people have gripes about the screen & fingerprints, the screen is a mirror so it's bound to get a few fingerprints, it's made of glass for petes sake, it is going to get a bit less than mint condition.

I have this phone about 10 months ago loved it at first but soon got bored with it. The only thing I liked about it was that the screen looked like a mirror :-), but I couldn't hear my phone when it rang, the phone kept crashing, in the end I had enough & gave it to my mum & got the Samsung Soul which is a lot better :-).

A good phone but can never beat a Sony Ericsson with the loudness of the music & the settings I do like the mirrored impact on the phone though & its a very handy pocket size the camera is not bad & its not the best but the flash is a bonus so its a good phone but its got its rubbish bits.

I like this phone. I have had it for 6 months.
Many people seem to have petty problems with this phone. I researched it a lot before I bought it & knew what I was getting into when I bought it. Although my eBay buying experience was unbearably terrible, when I did finally receive the phone, I was impressed.
Style, It is very small but feels like it is worth something because of the metal, which gives it weight. I got the dark gray & titanium version because it looks much better than the other versions. Unfortunately & people often compliment on the phone's good looks though. Most don't care about cell phones here, so the LG Shine still stands out, even 2 years after it was released overseas.
Features, I paid $200 Canadian for this, so I wasn't expecting a lot. I use the camera all the time, & it makes great pictures if you are patient. I use the flash more as a flashlight than anything else. The calendar is very useful as well. Texting is pretty easy. I don't care if I have to charge the phone every 2 days. I also don't care about limited text tones. The volume of the speaker is fine. The MP3 player is great. I don't web browse or view documents. The reception is iffy in gray areas. I use the number shortcuts beside each option on the menu all the time. The scroll bar is fun, but pressing numbers is faster. This feature should be on all phones. I have had no breakdowns of any kind.
I use it for texting, calling, a camera, & a calendar. If you only require these features, & like a nice-looking phone, go ahead & buy it.
But it's a mid range style phone. That's all.

I had this phone about 4 months ago until I found out what a waste of money it was, its slow on opening things on the phone, the screen scratches & fingerprints appear a lot. The looks are horrible meaning its not the best looking phone you can buy, I paid £120 for mine because it was a special edition & what a waste of money, I can tell you it was. But then I made profit buy selling it on eBay for £190. Which is very good. So I was OK in the end but now I have got the Sidekick 08 & let me tell you it is the best phone you can get.

If you are looking for a light, easy to use & stylish phone, I strongly recommend the LG Shine KE970. I have had this phone for about 3 Months now & nothing has gone wrong with it. The battery lasts me a week at minimum. Those who complain about this phone are merely exaggerating.
anyone who is thinking about getting this phone, don't let the comments of others throw you off. This phone has a great camera, you need to hold it for 1 to 2 seconds in the same position after you take the photo to reduce blurring. The screen is difficult to see in the sunlight, but what do you expect it's a digital LED screen, many phones have this function. The 50MB internal memory can get you by, but if you are one to use a lot of space it would be best to by a memory card, it takes a Micro SD, pretty much the Nokia card.
Bluetooth does delay slightly, the music volume is a tad bit lower than many other phones, yet the earplugs you receive with the phone have a volume control which enables you to let the music burst into your ears, almost deafening you in my opinion, so it will work as a MP3 player as well as a phone. The scrolling function is very easy to use, I don't know how people have trouble with it, yes it is a little sensitive but it doesn't affect the usability of the phone itself. The screen is a great size, the images file does contain slight lag, delaying the image viewing speed, this phone is great if you want a wallpaper of a loved one for it displays it in very clear light.
My only dispute with this phone is the SMS ring alert function, you can only choose out of 4 preset tones, you cannot set your own, if you don't like them you might be better off using vibrate alert, which is also softer than one might hope for.
I hope this review helps you in your decision, I seriously do recommend this phone.

I got this phone last Christmas, it looks good & works so well.
But a few months after getting it the screen broke & the phone stopped working. I got another one & all seemed fine for a while until recently the phone would turn its self off & the keys & screen didn't respond. Eventually it stopped working & I gave up & got a new phone.
My advice to anyone who is thinking about getting this phone is go for it. It's a lovely phone but just be careful with it. & make sure you can always get a replacement it you need one (for free).

OK well I have just bought this phone I like it you just need to look after it because it's got a glass screen. The MP3 player ant load but then again it ant really a speaker phone for listening to music at the back of the buss, if you like doing that then definitely don't get this phone. The camera is just as good as my last phone which was the w810i & that had a good camera. I think if you want a phone that will do lots of different things at the same time then don't get this phone because it can't do that. If you're a business man get this phone it is your kind of phone. & the thing about it being a girl's phone it's not true at all.
If you be gentle with it at all times you should have it for a long time. If you're the sort of person that's always breaking things then don't get it because it's fragile. It's for an adult not for a little boy or girl that wants to do kid thing.

This phone terrible. Keypad sounds are TERRIBLE, like a toddler piano, & no way to change to acceptable. Display is real nice indoors, but useless outdoors in bright light, you just can see anything but the mirror, which in not what I expected for a mobile phone. You can't hear it ring very well, & I can't hear music without putting the phone to my ear. It is slow to respond to keystrokes, & the PC interface with telephone book sync is the worst rubbish I have seen long. I warmly recommend it, I have one to sell.

I have had this phone for a year & ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY! The volume is WAY too low & I always miss calls. You can't put a lock on your messages or folders to stop nosey family members sneaking around on it, Can only hear the MP3 music when I am in a quiet room on my own (what's the point in having it that low? ). Mirror surprisingly hasn't got any scratches on yet but gets lots of fingerprints on. Back case has been scratched don't know how. But it's annoying. The camera is of OK quality but would be better with a better zoom other than 2 x, its rubbish. My sister has got the LG Viewty. The camera on that is excellent. But obviously the touch screen buttons is just annoying, especially when your texting.
But the LG shine is defiantly a girl's phone, I have the pink one so I don't think a boy would like mine. ! Also. With the default flash files, the one with the little girl blowing bubbles is annoying because it keeps changing. I want the stars. But the butterflies & the shamrocks keep coming up every time I switch the phone on. I have to keep it on all the time if I want to keep the stars.
The phone memory its self is rubbish, but I put in a memory card so its fine now. Other than those criticisms, it's quite a good phone, 3 of my friends have it, but fortunately for me, I am getting a new phone soon, probably the LG Secret. It's nicer. & looks sleeker.
Overall, I rate the phone 6 out of 10 :).

This phone was okay, camera is alright although its dead slow! When your going through your pictures it takes ages to load too the next one! Can be quite annoying. Can't figure out how to zoom LOL but it does have one, just haven't discovered it yet even though I've had it since last Christmas.
When texting it sometimes sticks & types the same letter over & over, don't know if anyone else gets this problem but this is also really annoying! You only get an option of 4 message tones as well. This doesn't bother me but it might with other people.
Recently my phone has started turning itself off too when I slide it down. It doesn't hold a lot of texts, well it does but I text a lot so I constantly have to delete messages. It scratches dead easily too, & because it's a mirror they really show up ha ha it's not nice, haven't had too much trouble with the sun reflecting on it like others have said, just need to cover the screen sometimes to see what your doing!
I think the volume is too quite also, my older phones have been louder. I think the memory is quite rubbish as well can only hold like 5 songs, but if your not big on having lots of songs on your phone then this would be fine, get a memory card though if you are :D.
The texting doesn't support emotions it just comes up like, although I prefer it this way ha ha! Just a personal preference I suppose. I think the battery life is really bad & unreliable as well, have to charge my phone every night in case it cuts out!
Anyway it's a really pretty & a good phones besides everything above ha ha!

Very poor phone, can't not read text in the light outside & in the summertime near on useless. So much for the mobile phone that you can't use outdoors!
Scroll is easy to get dirty & it then does not work for a while anything from 5 minutes to a week.
Pictures vary from fuzzy to OK, can't not down load any of my videos to the PC.
My advice don't buy this phone it may look nice but that's about it.

I thought this phone was amazing when I first got it. But I warn you now!
I got my first LG shine this February. It is now October & have had two. They both broke for no reason I know of. The screen cracks REALLY easily.
So unless you're willing to put it in a iron case when you go out I would say not get this. It may not be the same for everyone. But I will not be getting any phones by LG again. That is around £150.00 down the drain. Because it's not possible for me to get a refund.

Nice phone but had problems with it from about six months of having it. It started to turn its self off when slid down with force but then it got really bad & would turn off randomly i.e. during a phone call or a text message.
I had it repaired & it's been fine since but it was such a hassled. I love the scroll bar & so did my friends, but it was annoying when trying to go to the photos or through music as you would have to use the little buttons on the side to go either way.
All in all I like this phone but compared to the Samsung I had before it's nothing special. I would like to love this phone but it had messed me around too much.

Bought this phone a week ago & at first I had no problems with it. It charged up perfectly & I left it on charge for the full 12 hours as directed. It didn't need charging up for 4 days. I like to have it on the power saving mode but when I went to charge it up a couple of days ago I noticed the back of the phone was ridiculously hot, left it on charge any way. After about 10 hours of charge I decided to unplug it & when I went to use it, the battery was dead again. I had to use another phone while I was at work that day & when I went home I decided to try charging it up again & it seemed to work fine. It seems every time I put the SIM card in it & charge it up that it decides to heat up. I think I am going to take it back & just get another one as I love the phone & its miles better than my old U600 as I detest touch screen buttons.

I now have this phone (the gold coloured) for 2 weeks. The design is a girl catcher. But otherwise I think the phone is over rated, when I slide it close it use to turn off, so now I use a piece of paper to hold the battery in place & I no longer have this problem. The speakers are of very poor quality & you can hardly here the songs if you are not using your supplied head phones. This is definitely a girl's phone. I am now trying to sell it.

This phone was great when I first got it. I was on an 18 month contract which is too long for the phone as I started to have problems with it. It had to be sent off because the scroll bar completely broke.
I also found that the screen chips really easily, the volume of the songs playing are very quite on the loudest settings & if you have a lot of pictures it take about 5 minutes to load. They say the phone has an MP3 player but the music goes off if you go on to anything else like your messages.
I would advise getting the phone but for no longer than 12 months.

I would just like to know how I could get the volume louder when listening to music? As I have only just gotten it I'll leave another review soon.

I have had my LG shine for just under a year & everything is going wrong with it.
It is becoming very difficult to slide up, the scroll wheel falls out & is becoming slow to respond the speaker has broken but before all of this it was an amazing mobile phone so I would recommend just before having it for 10 months getting a new mobile..

The LG shine is a very good phone, it's got good graphics. The camera is rubbish you think you got a good picture but then it shows it blur. Also when you slide it down hard it turns off it does my head in, but don't get me wrong its a very good phone.
The sound needs to be louder, if you want it louder get some speakers for it thats what I have done.

My best phone so far! Looks great & easy to use.
Only minor problems with it, it takes a few seconds to take a photo & the resolution of the photos aren't great.
The protective plasitc thing for the screen is a bit fiddly to put on, any specs of dust underneath it make bubbles that get completely in the way.
I've had this phone for 6 months now & have had no other problems with it.
Overall its a brilliant phone.

This phone is so great! Some flaws would be. The screen is very easily smudged, so if you have a habit of touching the screen then keep the plastic on that comes with the phone when you first get it. Another one would be that the volume at the highest notch is not very loud, so if you need it to be loud then the LG shine is not for you.
That is my review on the LG shine. (I am not saying not to get this phone it is great. Those were just some of the flaws).

On paper the specs look pretty good, but it's just not a user friendly device. The media player will only play songs in the order that they are listed in the folder, or you can shuffle but you can't organise a play list based on album or artist etc. Sound quality is great if you use good buds, but the adapter cord for the earphones is too long, combined with the cord on my ear buds, it becomes a tangled mess. The Australian version didn't come with an USB connector, so I've had to order one off eBay. As for the scroll wheel, enough said, it's a pain. I'll persist with this phone as I have just purchased it & don't want to waste any more money.

It's got bad memory, its constantly saying memory's full, you can't see the screen outside, you're literally blinded, the whole PC connection is confusing & the phone gets scratched so easily. Also, now my connection to the PC has stopped working.

This phone looks good but is terrible! I have had my phone for just over a year & thank goodness I can get rid of it. Since day 1 (I know I should have taken it back) it has turned itself off even during a phone call & the only way to get it back on is by taking the battery out. When the sun is shining it is impossible to see the screen, so texting because a nightmare. This phone has put me off LGs.

I brought my Pink LG phone & received it about three weeks ago after being really pleased with the quality of the phone & how well the picture show up on it, I downloaded all my info onto it, then about 4 DAYS after I received the phone the screen frozen then when the phone turned itself off it wouldn't turn back on again. I called the company who I brought the phone off & had to pay over £8 to send it back. Then sent me a new phone which I received Monday & again everything was working well, then last night the battery started to go low while I was out, & the screen went really faint, so I then charged the phone when I got home & left it in charge all night to make sure the battery was full, when I come to turn the phone on again the screen is still really faint & I cannot see anything on it? This is s frustrating & means I have to pay another £8 or so to send the phone back!

My friend had one at first & I loved it, I eventually got one & was thrilled, despite the reviews saying it is virtually indestructible. I dropped it on concrete & got a million & one scratches! Also the scroller is useless, I click the wrong things when my finger slips & also, when you use a memory card, it takes ages for the images to load. Another thing is that when you take a picture the right way up, & you try & set it as a wallpaper, it doesn't fill the screen, whereas if you take the picture sideways, & set it as a wallpaper, it fills the screen.

Had my phone almost a year & will be sad to get rid of it. I find the mirrored screen can be hard to use but once you get used to the texting can become much easier. The roller feature makes the phone more interesting & is really easy once you get used to it. As for memory, I have a 1 gig memory card in but it can hold a 2. Plenty of room for your songs, pictures & videos. I've dropped my phone in a deep puddle. After leaving it for a while to dry out I came back & it was still working as before. One of the only problems I have is the shiny surface as fingerprints show too easily. The battery life can be short, depends on how you use the phone. I do think the music player should be louder though.

It's nowhere near as good to use as my LG U8380. Lacking decent computer connectivity & relevant software.
Poor battery life of around 70 hours means constantly checking the battery state.
All in all & when compared with its predecessors & other current the poorest mobile I have had in 20 years.
Its only redeeming feature is the camera assuming you are happy to wait till it fires after pressing the shutter release.
This is a phone for kids that like shiny things & not a tool for working people.

Had this phone for nearly 18 months now & will be glad to be rid of it! It looks nice at first but once you've used it it's covered in smears, finger prints, make up etc which totally ruins the bling of it. The roller is all but useless as it is not accurate at all, the phone itself is too heavy & the memory is poor. I can only fit 3 full songs on it, a handful of photos & a few videos, although my daughter has one & her memory seems much better, weird! Texting is really slow & uncomfortable on your fingers, in fact I find this phone slow full stop. Probably try a Nokia something or other next.

Sorry but I have to go against the flow here, the mirrored screen is a definite No! No! Out on an even moderately bright day the only thing you're going to see on the screen is your face. It's very slow to respond to input, in fact it's that slow that you've often pressed a button again thinking that it hasn't worked the first time only to find yourself being taken to a sub menu that you didn't want. The speaker output is quite low even with the volume on max, it's OK for normal use as a phone with the speaker next to your ear but held in front of you; as in watching a video, it's pretty useless. The battery life is atrocious, the max I get is 2 days & that's with only sending a few texts, start watching a couple of short video's or making calls then it's flat after about 8 hours. The signal strength is pathetic, I swapped my SIM card from my Samsung in to the LG Shine & most of the indoor locations that I could easily send texts from before were now out of bounds with a Limited Service warning on the screen all the time. The quality of the camera shots is very poor & the video is jerky, I can't recommend this phone to any body & I certainly wouldn't have bought one knowing what I know now.

- Battery.
- Screen, I think that, when I buy a phone, I want to see something on it.

I have had this phone for nearly a year, & it never ceases to amaze me. It is stylish & simple to use, & a big success with girls & boys any age. All my friends wanted it when I first got it! It's not an eye sore to look at, but it does get scratched easily.
However the phone has not broken or chipped despite the fact that I have dropped it on hard surfaces countless of times. The only things I find annoying with this phone is the mirror screen which is impossible to read in the sunlight, & the small memory for the MP3.
It would be an ideal phone to have if you were on a budget, as it's very strong & hasn't got any problems. This phone is perfect for YOU. Having had it for a long while now, I am ready to move onto a newer model. I know I am going to miss it!

I've had no trouble with the phone switching itself off, or doing other strange things, it stores about 300 texts in total which is ample for me.

Looks fantastic. Got it on t mobile contract. When I got it, it used to switch itself off if you shut it too hard & I got a replacement handset which did the same. & even though they 'fixed' it, it still happens 10% of the time.
Texting is hard with the tiny buttons & the screen overhanging the top 3 becomes immensely slow with higher capacity memory cards. I can't change text tone, scroll wheel feels tacky & plastic after a month has 100, 000 more problems I could mention.
However, looks stylish until the screen gets scratched & the headsets really nice, but sadly that's it for good points.

I've only had this phone for a few months, one of the worst phones I've ever had. Aesthetically, it's a rather attractive looking phone, the mirror finish is beautiful. When converting the storage system to mass storage, you can fit lots of files on there, & they're easy to access, & the volume on the media player can get pretty loud, but personally, I don't use it all that often.
Other than that.
- the battery life is horrendous, I have to charge it every day, & a phone call eats up half the bar.
- Texting is a tad frustrating, the end call button is too close to the number keys, so sometimes I end up cancelling the message by mistake when typing an E or F. Especially frustrating when typing particularly long texts.
- I can't receive many texts either.
- the camera features are little hard to manoeuvre, & can take a little while to figure out where (in my case) the zoom is. But camera wise, the quality of pictures are great. Comparable to my digital camera.
- Other small bits, but would be from my own preferences, but the scroll button doesn't do it for me.
Overall, it's not a bad phone, & I might've been unlucky with my particular phone in regards to receiving only 50% of my texts. But I really would recommend another type of phone if you want a phone that actually works as a phone, & not a media centre.

I got my phone four days ago & I must say that so far I am very happy with it (It is still the honeymoon period). The phone looks fantastic, is easy to carry & so far, every time that I have pulled it out to do something, people look at it. It is an eye catcher.
However there are a few things that I think could have gotten a little 'push'. The volume of the handset for one thing is really low compared to most of the phones that I have used in the past & thus making it difficult to actually pick up the phone. The vibration too is a lot lighter than my previous Nokia who felt like an earthquake had hit! I am currently working on my own 'sensitivity' in order to feel the phone when it does vibrate in my pocket or to hear it when I am sleeping.
Another feature that needed a bit more help was the selection of tones for SMS's. The phone only offers 4 & I am currently looking for ways to increase the message tone library. I think I'll find a way soon.
It is true that without a memory card the phone cannot hold much so I do suggest that you buy a memory card so that you can put more things in it.
Now it is also true that the phone's visibility in the sunlight is a lot harder than with other handsets, but what do you expect, it's a mirror! Which brings me to the next thing, I HIGHLY recommend that you buy some sort of protection for the screen. Mine hasn't been scratched or anything, but since IT IS A MIRROR you might want to invest in something to protect it.
I haven't tried the handset's Bluetooth yet, so I can't speak of it, nor have I tried the actual software. I find that I haven't had to use it to transfer songs & pictures onto the phone.
I know a few users have complained about the scrolling button & the actual keypad but I haven't had any issues with them AT ALL. I found them to be VERY EASY to use.
I haven't had any issues with network reception, if anything it is better than my previous phone at that. However I have had a few questions about the battery life of the phone. Don't get me wrong it can handle the 3 days that LG claims, but I was more 'concerned' about the fact that the battery bar goes from 2 to 3 at times, so I think that the reading isn't very accurate, but that is a minor detail in my opinion.
I do have one more thing though, & that is more of a question, the phone came with a headset for the MP3 player & what not, but does it come with a hands free kit too? I haven't seen a microphone anywhere on the headset so I was wondering if this was common.
All in all I would recommend this phone to anyone who wants a good looking & quite functional phone. Some of the reviews I had read on here did worry me but I am very happy with the phone so far!

I love the screen as a mirror as I am so vain I am forever checking my makeup & hair in it, & all my friends absolutely love the phone as they borrow it for the mirror to, the screen does get loads of finger prints over it but that's why they supply a screen cleaner with it, & the buttons are a bit of a pain because they are flat but overall it's an amazing looking phone & the scroll wheel I'd great but sometimes it ceases up but apart from that I love it.

As much as I loved this phone when I bought it, I can't help but shine on the negative points. Please whatever you do, don't waste your money on this heap of junk, seriously.
I loved the slide tones at first, but then they seemed to give me a headache, & with lack of options, it got boring so I eventually turned it off.
I also loved the alarm, but that also got annoying, so that went to vibrate, because possibly the only good thing about this phone is the sturdiness of the vibration feature.
I was very, VERY annoyed with the inability to personalise the phone with your message tone, & the more than your health is worth, trying to get a nice clean picture, without losing an eye from the picture because it's so difficult to change the contrast settings. It's either too bright or too dark, disappointing!
The charging slot, it's a nightmare, why put it on the side of the phone, it gets too difficult to use.
TEXTING! The silly phone hardly ever recognises words you submit, you have to manually submit which is too much effort.

I got this phone last year & I am stuck with until next year I have already replaced it twice due to it breaking. The scroll bar is too fiddly, lack of being able to personalisation the message tone sucks, the fact you can hardly see your screen in the sun is so annoying. The music playback without headphones is awful & the Internet connectivity is rubbish. I do not recommend this phone to anyone.

I've always been a Nokia fan but after years of loyalty to Nokia I've decided to let go & try the KE970 Shine. BIG mistake! Yes it's a nice phone no arguments there it also looks good but it's pretty useless when it comes to getting calls. I don't think I've ever had such a long MISSED CALL list in my life. The ringtones are so low (even when set to MAX) that I just don't hear it when it's in my bag or pocket. I've taken it back to the supplier but they all seem to be quite ignorant to the problem. Looking at all the reviews I now know that I am not going crazy. To be honest I can't wait for my upgrade.

Well I got the LG shine 2 days ago & let me tell you it is the most stunning phone I have ever used. I previously had a Nokia 6280 & Sony Ericsson w880i. But out of the three the LG shine is by far the prettiest. The features are really good like it has MP3 camera. However the features could of been slightly better I think there should of been FM radio, themes, & also the sound quality when on loudspeaker could be better, also the pictures come out quite white & pale makes you look like a ghost. But it is beautiful phone the keypad is also lovely. I think the design is spot on & the shine stainless steel affect is stunning. The usability is also quite easy as the buttons are nice big & chunky. Also when you text each button makes a different noise make it easy to create a text message. I also love the affect when you dial a number how the number show as it is really appealing. The phone is very colourful makes good noises & generally is stunning you will never go wrong with the shine. However the back of the phone does catch scratches & has to be taken care of as it is stainless steel. The phone is a glamorous accessories even the little cleaner is so stylish. I am slightly disappointed from the headset as they are quite big & don't fit in your ear as well. My way of altering is on the two headphones there is a ring around them covering the wires, just remove them & put on some ordinary black sponges it works better & fits in your ear better. The phone is splendid & I feel it will last I definitely recommended it to everyone out there.

My friend got this phone yesterday. We had trouble using the Bluetooth as it just froze every so often. It may have been my Samsung E900's fault though, after the phone had received the files. It would only play 2 out of three. I've just ordered a pink LG Shine from Orange. Was this a mistake? If you don't like the phone, there are still some things that you must like or think are OK. I got this phone yesterday to replace a Sony K550i (a replacement for another Sony my toddler threw down the toilet). I have to say I am in love, it looks beautiful & is really easy to use. I really don't know what phone some people are using when they complain of being unable to use MP3's as ringtones or connect to their PC or use Bluetooth. I have also not had a problem keeping the screen fingerprint free & there is no need to touch the screen (this will be a problem I assume, for those unable to go through life without touching everything excessively! ).
Last night within half an hour of taking it off charge I had used Bluetooth for custom MP3 ringtones from my old phone & set one as a default ringtone. I had connected to my laptop both via Bluetooth & USB & transferred sound & image files (the phone simply shows as a removable disk in windows explorer & you can just drag & drop the files).
My only issues with regards to set up were that I could not Bluetooth ALL the contacts from my old SIM to my new in one go, I had to do them one by one, which was a pain, but I don't have many as I am past the age where the number of contacts on my mobile phone determines my popularity & it gave me the chance to have a friend review. The manual is not good either, there are too many random notes & not enough explanation of functions.
I do agree the buttons either side of the roller wheel are a little hard to press as they are so small but to access menus you have so many options to press you hardly need to use them. For example in a menu, you can either scroll & press the wheel & button, you can either press the corresponding keypad number to the required option or you can scroll down & press one of the larger side buttons (next to the wheel with the little blue light).
The phone its self looks & feels lovely, I like the fact you can use the camera without opening the slider so it looks like a little digital camera & I love the fact when the slider is closed it automatically keylocks (great in the presence of phone obsessed two year olds).
Having had Sony phones for the last 3 years moving to this has not been difficult at all as it's an easy to use phone & keypad habits will only take a week or so to break.
I would definitely recommend this phone to anyone who has basic computer & phone literacy as I think a distinct lack of these will cause problems (resulting in bad reviews). No phone is ever perfect as different makes & models always contain features & functions unavailable on other otherwise perfect phones. I am sure as time goes on there will be functions on my old Sony I will miss but there will be new ones I also have not had before. All in all I am very happy :).

I've had this phone now for 15 month's loved it but can't wait to upgrade. Having few problems now think it's ready for it,
The battery never lasts longer than a day an half on standby & if your talking on it half a day it's been like this now for 6 months or so.
The phone switches off & getting it back on is a problem have to take of the back & play about with it!
Using the charger is hard work too can't let the phone go off or it won't charge. (then the same problem as above).
Don't let this put you off as the phone has been good, just had its faults as all phones.
Dropped it loads too just got few chips in the edges & work with kids they played with it & it sort of survived LOL.

This phone looks great & I love the keys. I loved the Motorola RAZR for the similar keys & this is why I chose this phone.
But, I cannot get the music I downloaded to the external memory to play as MP3 despite having contacted LG on in January. (It plays one song then stop. You have to manually make it play another.) It is a pain having to carry an MP3 player when the phone should be able to suffice. I have no desire to have my phone on show while travelling just to listen to music.
I've had no reply from LG over two months later other than acknowledging my queries & telling me they had passed them on. How helpful is that?
Now the phone shuts itself completely off whenever it feels like it, even sitting alone on a table & when the battery is fully charged.
Overall, I am pretty disillusioned with this phone & I doubt that I will ever choose anything LG again because of their lack of customer service.

This is a great phone I've had it for about 6 months. Although the other reviews say it easily breaks I'd say it's pretty much indestructible. The amount of times I've dropped it (stone floors! ), sat on it, lost it & generally misused it is astonishing & yet it's fine. It does pick up scratches really easily (mostly on the back) but the screen remains pretty much perfect. I'll agree when I first got it the battery life was extremely short but it seemed to get better, don't know how that works but now I can use it for days with no problems. The only downfall is the reception perhaps just in Scotland but it's pretty miserable. I use it on virgin but I've heard it just generally bad for reception. I have to be at a window in my house to get any bars at all. So that's the choice you have to make. Cool design with next to no reception!? I am pretty much sick of the reception issue & whilst I love this phone & its design I am going to get a new on pretty soon! Though (don't get me wrong) highly recommended!

I think the phone is not as good as most of these reviewers make out.
The slide is solid & for the most part the design is good, & it is pretty but the screen IS weak, broke very easily.
The features on the phone are VERY limited. I Bluetooth a music file which was MP4 not realising that it can't play but now I can't get access to it to delete it. It should at least show the file EVEN if it can't play it!
This also relates to just not having direct control over what is on the phone. Why not?
The camera is DARK! No flash as I knew, the pictures are darker than normal.
I've never been able to download it to my computer & I am not bothered to go through ALL the bother of getting it to work.
The limit on text messages is such an ancient feature too.
Overall, I HATE the phone & I will NEVER get an LG again unless they improve the features on their phones as I am told the Viewty has similar limitations!

Orange won't replace it because they say that pressure has been applied, but it's only had normal everyday use. Don't buy this phone, I was heartbroken when it broke because I absolutely loved it, don't want a new one because it may only break again.

The phone is good, sturdy, good looking & does most things reasonably well.
However, the camera is shocking. It claims to be 2 megapixel but it takes VGA standard pictures & has a really annoying delay on it, so when you push the button to take a picture you have to wait about 3 seconds for anything to happen.
Secondly the phone is so fragile, it's unbelievable. Sure you can buy a case but that takes away what the phone is about. Looks! I dropped my phone once from literally about 3 inches off the ground onto soft carpet & that caused the screen to crack & now the phone doesn't turn on.
In conclusion, you will love the phone for about 3 months but get really bored, annoyed & scared that it will crack at any minute after that.

My little sister has just bought the LG Chocolate & she's in love with it, my phone at the moment isn't too bad though. I would like a better camera & flash which is why this phone is good for me. I have had this phone a few months now but after having it only a few weeks it began playing up. It freezes a lot, the phone froze when I put it on charge then the charger wouldn't work I tried removing the battery & re inserting it then turning the phone on but even this didn't work it eventually decided to turn back on & begin charging.
I have a memory card in the phone & when you are looking through your pictures or MP3s it takes a long time to scroll through them & tends to have a mind of its own.
I also find that trying to get signal with the phone is hard compared to other Nokia's or Samsung phones I have had in the past where finding a signal in my house has been easy where as with this phone it can get a bit annoying as in places where everyone else on the same network can get signal easily I have a problem doing so!
Since I got this phone a few days after it was released, I wish I had never chosen it. It's not only me that has the same problems, a few of my friends have the phone too & all have the same problems.

I got this phone approximately 4 months or so ago. When I first got it, & up until an hour ago I thought it super. It had everything I wanted, camera Bluetooth etc, separately I bought a 2GB memory card.
But today it started playing up. I took a few photos with my friend & then went to put them on the computer. I plugged it into the USB, it restarted & the photos had disappeared to be replaced with a little folder picture with an arrow coming out which I clicked & it said not supported.
Later I restarted it & put it on charge to see if that helped. Now it won't turn on. The screen saying KE970 comes up, then it freezes. Tried everything, took out the battery, plugged to computer, put on charge. & still just freezes. I am going to complain to Orange as soon as I next go to an Orange shop to get a replacement.
Don't get me wrong, the phone was great & I was thrilled when I got it. It's just been today when it started crashing etc. I would have recommended it to anyone until about 2 hours ago. Easy to use & really pretty, in fact so pretty you will be paranoid about scratching it & cleaning it every day, but the features, well I cannot complain enough about the multimedia player or lack of it.
You cannot create playlists, & it finds all mp3s in the MP3 folder of your phone & memory card, including default ringtone sounds & puts them in alpha order, you then have to manually remove the default sounds one by one unless you want to listen to them randomly when in shuffle mode interrupting your own music! You can choose to play single songs by browsing to them, but who just wants to click on each song one at a time to avoid the default ones?
When you get a call the music stops dead, the remote control headset doesn't make any noise, it just sounds like your phone has broken, after the call you have to start the music manually again, if you get stuck in the wrong menu this means the remote is useless & you're fishing the mirror out of your pocket.
You also cannot do anything while the music is playing, no menus, no texts, nothing, you have to stop & exit the music player, cutting the music off, I expected this in older phones, but in newer models like this, I wanted more for my money.
The sliding wheel on the front feels like it will roll loose at any moment & offers little accurate control, I am always selecting the wrong item in the menu! I couldn't get any of my 3GP videos or mpeg4 videos to play at all, it forever said 'file format not supported' unless it was one I filmed with the phone itself. The camera is average to good for a phone camera, & the flash is very bright, but the options do seem pretty standard.
The PC software is useless & no matter what I do will not detect the phone, & keeps asking for a port, however thankfully in this event, if you switch the phone connection settings to mass storage mode, you can just drag & drop files to the memory card or built in memory from windows,
I have used Samsung before, & the LG just feels like a poor man's Samsung wannabe, with a bit more bling & shiny.
It is going back this weekend, after just one week of use, & I am getting a g600 instead. I should never have left you Samsung, my d500 worked better than this. : (

Bought this phone in November 07, loved it. Took it back 2 weeks ago when half the screen went black. I thought that as it was only just three months old & still under warranty it would be repaired or replaced.
I've now waited two weeks to be told the screen damage is my fault by the way I was sliding the phone up, the same way everyone else does I presume!? & LG warranty doesn't cover the screen for damage. I won't be buying another one, or paying the £58 to get this one repaired. Shame because I love the look of the phone, very easy to use.
Missed a few calls because it's not really loud enough, & if I damaged the phone by using it the way it's meant to be used then it's obviously too fragile. Battery life not great either. Friend had her LG Shine three days & the screen cracked.

People complain about the scroll bar, why people complain I have no idea. It's not difficult to use or get used too, it's probably if your in a rush or just not having control whatever it is, it's hardly an excuse to be negative on the phone. - the internal memory card slot is behind the battery. So every time you want to take the memory card out you have to remove the back & the battery.
- the central horizontal scroll bar control reacts very slowly & pressing it is difficult as it normally results in scrolling.
- the keys to the right & left of the horizontal scroll bar are small & difficult to press.
- the screen cracked in the second week, it was in my bag when the back fell of a door hook onto a hard floor. For such as fragile phone Nokia should have supplied a great case to go with it for protection.
- It is a slide phone with smooth external surfaces which makes it quite difficult to slide open.
- the sound quality for music playback is TERRIBLE on the phones speaker.
- Cannot use SWF (flash) files for wallpapers or backgrounds, there is a folder but you can't transfer into it & other folders don't recognize the format, I have asked LG about this & got NO response.
- Phone gets hot after 15 minutes of games or music.
- Message alerts are limited to 4 tones which are rubbish.
- THIS BUGS ME SO MUCH. When going back out of the menu system a horrible tone has been set that sounds like a clacker which is only switched off when you set the phone to silent, HORRID.
The good points are
- the sound quality for music playback is AMAZING on a good set of phones. WOW, sounds like a kicking stereo system.
- Looks beautiful.
- Great graphic on the interface with amazing MP3 equalizer levels.
- Logical menu system.
- Animated wallpaper but please see number 7 from Worst list above.
- Battery life is EXCELLENT.
Conclusion, I bought this phone for £270 new when it first came out & it was NOT worth it for the functionality but totally worth it for the glam. This phone needs to be handled with CARE & is best for people with nimble fingertips & that like using headphones to listen to music.

Hi, I own the LG Shine Black Titanium, (features are the same as the normal LG Shine, but the casing is much cooler!). I really like the phone & it is VERY easy to use if you have a minimal amount of common sense! The camera is BRILLIANT especially taking close ups using the macro mode. The scroll wheel is easy to use & looks good however the video camera is REALLY BAD & very jerky. The screen is sharp, bright & very clear. The phone has a solid feeling & is really nice to hold. When opening or closing the slider the phone still feels very solid & there is no shaking or rattling when the keypad is out. The only thing that bothered me is that you can only have the dialing font in different colors, (no problem for the girls!). If you want a good phone that boasts one of the best looks on the market this is the phone for you.

I've had this phone for a bit, but already I want to get rid of it. I already have a crack in the mirror! No idea how it happened. The camera is very good, although you can't add frames, but I love the camera. There are only 4 message tones & only one is actually good, but that's just my opinion. You must have a lot of patience for this phone, it is incredibly slow! & it's not just mine, two other of my friends have it & they are just as slow. All in all, it looks nice, but I wouldn't buy it again.

I've had my shine since it was released over here (well actually on my second one, love it so much got a new one when my contract ran out) but I have only just tried to download songs onto it. Please can someone help!
It connects to my PC says it's transferring, but the songs never appear on my phone. The song file type if fine & there is no reason I can find that is stopping it working properly! I have tried via Bluetooth & it's asking for a pairing pass code or something which I was never aware I had as I have never had any problems sending & receiving Bluetooth files, have tried 0000 which manual says & it's incorrect. If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful to hear them. Thank you.

Before I bought this phone I could say I wanted it so badly mainly because of its beauty. When I finally did get it I weren't as happy as before reasons being I went from a W810i (Sony Ericsson) which is a very hard phone to beat so I felt I had degraded, it wasn't loud at all when it rang or played music but I didn't make that trouble me but I am in my second month of this phone & anytime I am on the phone to somebody & I put my headset in the phone switches off in which I have to take out the battery before it switches back on & sometimes it switches itself off & on. I wouldn't really recommend this phone to anybody as I feel like it's one of them phones that you will love for the first month or so & then the problems will start.

The design is absolutely great & the features, well I never! They are too hard to describe, ITS A MUST SEE PHONE.
Yes, you can download songs onto it & set them as ringtones, plus the 2MP camera is pretty cool, it takes crisp pictures & videos! LOVE IT!

So many reviews here, but I still wanted to say my opinion. LG makes great TV sets, but not phones. So stick to Tellies.
I got this phone from my boyfriend. Eventually, he realised that this phone is not for men. It does look nice & girly. I loved it at first, but when I got to look at the features, realised that it has many bugs e.g. I try to set up a daily reminder, which should go off every day at certain hour & guess what, it rings just the first day & the rest of the week, or month it doesn't work. It simply doesn't ring, even though the calendar says that there is a note set.
Another thing, you need to wake up in the morning, the alarm clock goes off, try to set it up to snooze, but if you do it too quickly (by quickly, I mean, just after the first two beeps of the alarm) then after a second or two it starts ringing again. WHAT the bits? I am expecting to sleep for another 5 minutes, not seconds.
The last thing, so what, that you can put an external memory. I also hoped I could you use it as an MP3 player. But I got sick of selecting each song after it stops playing. It's not programmed to be an MP3 player & of course there's NO SHUFFLE on external memory. Internal memory works fine though, but it's too small for me.
I really regret I exchanged my old & user friendly Nokia 7250i to this rubbish. Writing a message takes so long, but I guess I have to get used to it. Anyway, to anyone who is thinking of buying it, read all these messages & then decide whether you want it or not.

I have this phone, & I love it.
It has 50MB of memory not 1GB. Or maybe that is just my phone, or maybe it varies.
It looks good, though not great, but that doesn't bother me-I wanted the phone for music, taking photos, & callin/texting people, not just how it looks.
It works well with my computer, computer recognised it immediately, & it took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to put stuff on there, now I do it out of force of habit. Also, looks well-made. My friends love it as well, & always want to look round & play with it.
Could possibly do with a bit more internal memory, but has good memory anyway.
Anyway, great phone, glad I got it.

The good:
The great design & the materials of the phone!
The bad:
A phone that lacks a good camera (only 2MP resolution), & bad quality of the image, the central scroll button are weird to use, & it's a very fragile phone, cus its materials, if you drop it you will taking a risk to destroy it!

If you are a man you would like to have some great features in this phone, & for a so expensive one it should have!

This phone is brilliant. Easy to use. Excellent features & very robust. I do not know where some reviewers are coming from when they say downloading mp3s onto the phone is hard or impossible or that you cannot set the songs as ringtones as these are possibly the easiest things to do just set the phone to mass storage install the software & drag & drop the songs into the audio folder that comes up as an external storage device when connected to the PC. EASY, get a crystal case from eBay for £1.99 & the screen is protected. I have not suffered from connectability issues as some people have & haven't had the phone power off. Highly Recommended.

Danii, I think overall the LG shine is a better phone then the chocolate, but it depends what you're into. I think while the Chocolate is dark & mysterious, the Shine is born to grab everyone's attention. It depends what kind of style you are trying to come across with. Although the LG chocolate may be beautiful, it is far outstripped by the shine in features. The LG chocolate I think has been unfairly treated because of its touch-buttons. I think this is bad, as LG have taken precautions. You can control how sensitive you want them to be. The LG shine is a stunning phone, with its mirrored screen & metal casing, but the chocolate has a definite sense of luxury & mystique. Overall, I would definitely go for the shine, but it is down to opinion.

Functions very well, & has never crashed or powered off, unlike the Sony Ericsson & Motorola (RAZR) I owned previously. Expanded the memory with a 1GB micro card (& was advised NOT to use a 2GB one).
Good for calls, texting, gaming & not a bad camera or video either for a phone & a decent battery life too.

Got this phone quite awhile ago & well after having a Motorola v3x I think this phone is pretty good. Sure the screen gets dirty & is needed to be cleaned a lot but that comes with getting a phone with a giant mirror on the front. I am disappointed with the message tone as it doesn't play for very long! But other than that I love it. Would recommend it, you just need to be someone who will look after it because I think it would be very delicate the dropping & so especially with the big screen.

I would not recommend this phone to anyone it's the worst phone ever where do I start. I first had to send my first one back as it would not even charge or switch on! Secondly when I received my new phone it does not even tell you how to download music on to it. The battery life is so poor I was having to charge this phone four times a day just so I could text & make calls. Finally the level of volume is ridiculous I could never hear it ring & you can't set MP3's for your message tone you have to use the phones message tones.
If anyone is considering buying this I would not do so at all trust me it's the worst phone ever! Just ordered the Samsung F210 & from the reviews it's a good phone well anything can be better to the LG Shine.

I bought this phone less than two weeks ago, & I am bitterly disappointed with the overall performance of this useless gadget. The battery only lasts for one hour of phone calls, then needs re-charge. The texting side you have to have the smallest fingers to operate, & the scroll bar is so sensitive. I am going back to my old phone as this is going in the bin, so not to let someone else have these problems.

Brill phone, I cannot fault it, beats every other phone I have used so far it looks the part & feels the part especially now I have sorted the ring volume. For all of you who commented on the low ring volume this can be easily fixed using a small free programme called MP3 gain to enhance the MP3 volume before downloading to your phone. It works.

Got my phone in February this year & it's a great phone to look at, but I am getting a replacement phone due after it went back for repair to fix it powering itself off & going into roaming! I have to say the shine really is style over content, my old Nokia 6230 is boring to look at in comparison, but is far better phone!

I have just purchased this phone a week ago. Being a gadget freak I was drawn to the design & looks. Overall I am very impressed with the design the ease of use & the functions, the phone feels very good & solid in the hand, however the scroll bar is a touch to sensitive when navigating if you are heavy handed but that is coming with practise, the use of a jewel cover enhances the phone prevents finger prints especially on the screen & on the back when opening the slide. A good feature is that you don't have to remove the battery when changing sims or memory cards. The only real negative comment I have is the volume the ringtone volume is very poor especially on downloaded MP3 ring tones making easy to miss calls when in ones pocket or in a noisy atmosphere i.e. car or bus & also the speaker phone volume is also low. I am waiting to hear from LG to see if there is a fix for this. I will be exchanging the handset to see if it makes a difference. However apart from that it is a very smart phone & if I can resolve the sound quality I will defiantly be keeping it & I strongly recommend it.

I purchased my LG Shine last March while visiting in the UK Leeds & had problems immediately with switching of still showing one half battery life one day after I have purchased. I was already in Malta when this happened so I have contacted LG UK & said to bring it in for replacement. They would not accept me sending the phone over they said I have to personally bring it in from the shop I have bought it. This phone did not have an international guarantee. I was mad. Still have other problems such as phone ringing & nothing you do will stop this phone from ringing except to remove the battery. Definitively I will never again buy an LG.

But people are saying that it switches off on its own. Mine doesn't so I am pretty please about that because I didn't know whether to get it or not.
Glad I did & it's so stylish. I no longer have to carry a mirror around ;).

Personally I find no problem with the scroll key others have commented on. Generally it is simple to use, looks good, the camera is fine although you do have to stay very still whilst capturing otherwise you get a blurred image. Ring volume could be a little louder but this does vary on what file you use (some files that I transferred from my PC ring quieter than others). Battery life is fine. The phone doesn't have a loud speaker which I found was useful on my last phone when driving, it does have hands-free but I find by the time I have attached it I miss the call!
Only problem like others have stated is it just randomly turns itself off which is very frustrating, I kept thinking I was doing something but this is obviously a general fault with the phone. Would I buy it again? Probably not but then I am not disappointed with it either.

This Phone came as a birthday present from Auntie Norris & wow the lady certainly has style for an 80 year old. It came in a box that also looked stylish & even the manuals looked cool. I have yet to use the phone but I am sure coolness will be pervasive one more!
Having read some of the other reviews I was starting to worry having just arrived my Shine. The first half hour or so familiarising myself with the controls having been a Nokiahead for years was tricky but. My appraisal is thus :-
Good Bits :- Easy menu navigation by the roller selector or keyboard, stunning looks, easy to use camera with average to good picture quality & exposure settings too. Nice keyboard ( Can't understand the lady who says the key size was too small - she must be an oaf ) Massive 1GB built in memory. Ability to record phonecalls.
Downside :- roller bar fiddly & often rolls up just as you click to select causing unwanted selection ( this just requires practice ) Ring volume could be louder but certainly isn't quiet. Flash is not a 'flash' but is a powerful light. Screen & case will presumably scratch quickly. Fiddly charge socket.
Overall a good phone with plenty of features & stunning looks + as it's free, ( or even £50 cashback via Quidco ) who can grumble.

I love this handset, it is such a fabulous looking phone but the network problems are driving me mad. I have heard from friends that there is a PINK LG SHINE on its way, please be true as I will be rushing to get it on another network. I only recently got the LG shine 2 weeks ago & having no trouble with it at all. I personally don't find any problem with the scroll & think it's an excellent function & same with the keypad. The battery life is bad, but I was used to charging my phone nightly anyway, so that doesn't bother me. It isn't that tedious, just plug it in at night, EASY!
Yes, the alarm doesn't go off (only vibrate) when it's set to vibrate, which is a bit annoying, but then again it wakes me up! HA HA HA. There are 2 things that annoy me, the fact that the message tone only plays for approx 10 seconds before switching off & the ringtone isn't very loud. You can only keep 300 messages. If anyone knows how to change the length of time the message tone plays for, or allowing you to keep more than 300 messages, PLEASE send a review!

I find it scratches within seconds, the sound quality is poor, mine (& thankfully I now know it's not just me! ) switches itself off randomly, the keypad is awkward, battery life is short & I find the menus very cumbersome, it's not intuitive to use at all. On the upside, the camera isn't bad at all & I do like the 'roller' idea.
I have lasted 4 months with the LG shine & was so frustrated I called O2 begging them to give me a different phone! (Of course, they wouldn't! ) I've just yesterday had to go out & buy a pay as you go phone (& put my SIM in it so that I don't have to use the LG Shine. The phone looks great & whenever anybody sees it they are in awe, which is what I was liked at first. I have now had the phone for about 5 months, the screen is really badly scratched & that has got nothing to do with the way I use it as I am extra careful with it, I have even brought screen protectors for it but because there is no border around the screen they only stay on for about a day before they start peeling off.
The features on this phone are not great & you can't have your own song as a message tone you have to stick to the ones already on the phone & downloading your own songs to the phone is quiet confusing. When I turn the phone off, before I switch it back on I have to take the battery out before it will switch back on, which is annoying.
The usability is OK, but again they can be temperamental. The scroll bar is highly sensitive & the keypad takes a while to get used to. You can only set one alarm & if the phone is on silent then it will not sound when the time comes for it to go off. So what is the point in that! It also keeps switching itself off, which is very annoying! Overall, it is a good looking phone.

If I had known about its faults in the first place, I probably wouldn't have chosen this phone, despite its superficial stylishness. But having owned it for a while, I am now kind of in love with it, warts & all. Sadly, however, after only 3 months, the phone has suddenly developed an assortment of annoying software problems this weekend. I am lucky I have insurance so I can get a replacement in 24 hours. I shall be hoping I don't get another poor handset. What is happening is that the phone suddenly switches off without warning, several times a day, also trying to use the alarm clock or calendar results in a total screen freeze. The phone won't turn back on after being turned off (or after turning itself off). Once it has frozen up or switched off, the only way to get it back on again is to take the battery out & then replace it. Various other functions also result in the frozen screen, including trying to access the preloaded games. Getting the battery out is fiddly & the constant restarting uses up the battery very quickly.
It is true what other reviewers have been saying, the battery life & reception are poor (but not terrible) & the maximum ringing volume is very, very quiet. You can only hear it if there is hardly any background noise to drown it out. If you're on a train or bus or standing near a busy road, forget it. It also really is virtually impossible to read the screen in bright sunlight, this problem is much worse than with any other phone screen I've ever seen or owned. Until it let me down & despite its various shortcomings, I loved this phone. On the upside, it looks good, it feels nice & solid, I like the keyboard (& unlike some others, I like the scrollbar too & don't find it difficult to use at all), & I think the overall functionality is great. Fingers crossed that the new phone they are sending me will not develop the same software fault.

Well! I really liked this phone when I received it, but now well. List of problems
1. It scratches really easily.
2. The Sound Quality is quite poor. (I can't hear it ring, I even downloaded a real heavy Rock track so I could hear it, but to no avail)
3. The battery level showing on screen is completely inaccurate. It shows you its half way when it isn't & then it shows you empty & it isn't.
4. Major problem, it keeps switching itself off, for no apparent reason. Now it has turned itself off & won't come back on.
I have to say, it is no gadget, nothing special on it, if all of the above were addressed, I would quite like it, nice pleasant & simple. But mine is going for repair already. Hmm

Great design, became more advanced when putting in 2GB card. OK it's no ipod but it's decent enough to keep you busy while flying, yes FLYING as it features FLIGHT mode where the phone does not send or receive any form of signal.
People who say they cannot see anything during sunlight needs to get their eyes & brains checked, of course you won't see much during sunlight, but this is also true for most phones.
One HIDDEN feature (hidden so it will not scare off dumb people) is this phone can read Adobe PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel files quite well, although Word documents work better.
2 pixel camera with flash is quite decent.
the scroll wheel is easy to use, & much faster, rather than pressing a button 100 times, you can just scroll, although it would have been smart to give the scroll more power for longer scrolls, like the iphone. This scroll feature is most useful for contacts & music scrolling.
Music player is OK, only one problem, I have selected shuffle mode & yet the music's not shuffled.
Another little thing, although it selected phone memory for contacts, it still displays sim card contacts along with phones contacts. They should of also have an option to DISPLAY PHONE CONTACTS ONLY rather than all, just like Nokia.
Great phone overall, don't buy it because I WANT TO BE the ONLY PERSON WITH the PHONE.

The keypad is so un-user friendly it drives me insane & I have small fingers! I pity any one with the phone who hasn't! (Especially when composing texts & always accidentally knocking the cancel key. Grrr).
The scroll bar is overly sensitive meaning more often than not it'll take you a good few attempts to get where you actually want to go.
When outside it's impossible to hear what anyone on the other end of the line is saying to you, even if it's just a small breeze blowing.
All in all the phone is really bad, I wish I wish I wish I wasn't tied into an 18 month contract, try before you buy would be a great option for phones! Am NOT impressed.

I have a display 'caller' or 'message received from' NAME problem.
I bought the phone in Singapore last month, but live in Australia.
If my address book has Australian numbers recorded with the country code of 61, then the caller's name is not recognised when receiving calls from within Australia. However, text messages do show the name correctly.
Conversely, if my address book has Australian numbers recorded without the country code, then the caller's name is recognized when receiving calls, but text messages do not show the name of the sender.
Does anyone have a similar problem? Perhaps the phone's software is not open source & specifically coded to accommodate a Singapore Telco provider's requirements.
I'd appreciate it if anyone could enlighten me, thanks.

I got my LG shine on May 18th, buy the 20th Id had enough off it, now I've just switched it off & leave it at home! I read loads of these reviews before upgrading to the LG Shine, some where bad but the majority were good so thought id go ahead & get it. The first day I got it I charged it up, usually with phones when you first turn them on you have to charge them for a couple of hours, this one was on charge for about half an hour & then it said Battery Full. I though oh that was quick now I can use it. Then after an hour the battery went low again down to one bar, so I charged it all night ready for the next morning. The next morning the phone what red hot & the battery lasted about an hour. I figured maybe it's because I was messing with it loads trying to figure out how to use it & everything so I left it for a bit & then put it on charge for another 10 hours while I slept ready for the next day. So I took it to work the next day & I sent two text's & the battery went! The phone is also constantly red hot. I don't know if this is because of its metal casing or my friend reckons the battery's faulty. I left it switched off most the day now only turning it on for an hour to receive my text's, after half an hour of being on the phone it red hot again! Anyway I am taking it back tomorrow, I still really like it so I am gonna swap it for another one, although my friend told me that his friend had the LG Shine with the same problems! It's a shame because it looks really classy & everything but it just doesn't do the job. The battery only lasts 2 hours at most & that's without making calls & just it being sat on my desk at work.
I gave 70% for design because I have problems texting on it as my hand keeps pressing the camera button on the side of the phone by mistake! Also When trying to text the software freezes & it takes about 3minutes to send the text. It's nice & shiny but gets very finger printy. I don't like the way that when I set a background picture, it doesn't take up the whole screen but displays as a small picture in the center.

Received the phone from T-Mobile just under a week ago. I really didn't think I would take a 'shine' to this phone from all the negative reviews. As a result, I was quick to take the protective cover off the screen (would normally keep it on for a few days) & played around without charging the battery first! Truth be told, it's actually a very good phone.
I'll try & cover the negatives discussed on here:
1. You can see the screen outside in bright sunlight - it's not brilliant, but you certainly can read the text & carry out most day to day functions if necessary.
2. Battery lasts longer than my previous Samsung D600 which needed to be charged every other day. This phone will last 2/3 days normal usage before requiring another charge (provided phone is switched off overnight).
3. If you do set your ring tone to be an MP3 file, it is very quiet! I have settled with one of the pre-installed ringtones for the time being. It is something I can live with given how easy the phone is on the eyes.
4. The scroll bar does take getting used too & can be annoying at times. When you scroll it once, it sometimes does not register on the screen. Also when you depress it, it can sometimes scroll first then enter a different menu as a result. This can be avoided if you limit when you depress the scroll bar & use the side 'OK' button instead. Again I choose to adapt to this quirk as the phone is very sleek.
5. Texting is always difficult on a new phone - it is good in some ways, bad in other. My biggest gripe would be when you receive a text message. You depress the scroll bar to view message. Normally you can press the scroll bar again to reply, however this is not possible. You have to click options, reply, text message, then press the scroll bar again on the message itself to reply. It is pretty tedious. Though it is not necessary to go thru this process if just going into your inbox to reply to an old text. The scroll bar is used a lot throughout texting, which is again annoying as words/symbols can change when you only want to press it. It is something I am coping with & becoming better at avoiding.
6. The alarm function does not work in silent mode, but does have a 5 minute snooze function.
7. Don't worry too much about the marks on the surface as a quick wipe on your jeans will clear it. The back itself is a lot worse for marks, & as it is brushed metal, it is a lot harder to keep clean. This results in dark metal fingerprints all over that will require water or a soft detergent & some firm scrubbing.
Overall the phone is very well built & does look very slick. It supports MP4 files, the Bluetooth transfer speed is mediocre, & camera functions are just 'OK'. Not tried PC sync yet so cannot comment. The interface is good & the screen graphics look advanced giving the phone an expensive look.
If you want to look stylish & use the phone as a phone with occasional use of other features then go for it! If you want a handheld computer the be prepared to be frustrated for a few weeks before you eventually adapt to its unique style.
I like this phone. No, I am loving this phone!

Great looking phone. But due to faults I am on my 2nd one & it has been back to the shop 5 times!
It doesn't maintain reception - it can be fine one minute & then I won't get any reception for about 20 mins.
If it runs out of charge it takes ages to get the phone back on again - I find that removing the battery sometimes helps, otherwise you just have to keep trying. The best thing is to never let it run completely out of charge.
Sometimes after making a call the only way that I can end the call is to take the battery off, closing it or ending the call just doesn't work.
In my opinion there are far to many stages involved in sending a text.
I appreciate that some people have given this phone great reviews so maybe I've just been unlucky with the ones I've had.

It's a wonderful phone & turns people's heads when they see me with it in the street. Here are my good & bad points Good Points: - Sliding up & down is very smooth - Very basic navigation which makes it looks sleeker. - the mirror idea = GENIUS! Absolutely fantastic. - Even though it's only 2 megapixel it's good quality camera. - Sound is loud enough & good quality. - the dialing styles are fantastic. You can choose from 4 different styles & colours for what your numbers appear as when you key them in. Middle Points: - the scroller is a good idea & is usually great but can be inaccurate sometimes. Bad Points: - FINGERPRINTS AHHHHHH. The most annoying thing about this phone is the amount of fingerprints that appear in a space of 5 minutes. You're always having to wipe the screen due to fingerprints that you just CAN'T avoid. - Needs more features. The features are limited to the basic alarm, stopwatch etc. I think LG & Motorola should extend their features like Nokia & Sony Ericsson are doing. - I've only had it 6 hours & it has 2 scratches on the back. It has not been moved about fast or put in pockets. It has simply been sitting on my desk & the occasional me picking it up to check something & there's already two scratches. In a nutshell. A fantastic looking phone with great design. Features could be a bit more extended & the worst thing about this phone is how delicate it is. Drop it & there's 220 pounds down the drain.

This phone is awesome. Every seems to complain about the MP3 player, & not being able to put songs on to it. Personally I have found it really easy. The phone does not support songs from itunes as they are mp4, but this is not a problem as all you need to do is convert the songs to MP3 then they will work. The only problem I have had with my phone is signal. It seems to only work within one place in my house. Does anyone else have problems with signal on this phone?

I just got this phone & it is AMAZING, it truly is! I have to say, I have found no problems ever with it, love it to pieces, I really do think that everybody should get it, love it to bits, & whoever is wining about these complaints, its probably because you don't know how to use the technology, it will work if you use it right, scrollbar & all of it's features are truly amazing.

Had the phone for 3 days now & had to admit that I was sceptical after reading all the other reviews.
A lot of people are complaining about things like not being able to switch it on & not being able to get music on it/ or can't play all the music/ can't find the media player/ roller wheel unusable etc etc etc.
This is a first class stylish phone, yes the roller wheel takes a bit of getting used to but on the rest of the problems stated here I have found none of them. I think the main reason for most of these complaints is people not knowing how to navigate round the features. Certainly I had to ask my wife a few times on how to find/get/use some of the features but she has had LG's for a few years now.
I really rate this phone compared to my old Nokia 6680 & that I thought would take a lot to beat. Go on buy it.

I don't see what the problem is with this phone or why so many people don't seem to like it. I have had the phone a couple of days now. It's so easy to use, the scroll is brilliant. I am really careless with my phones & so far I have been unable to scratch this as it seems really durable.
The memory capability isn't brilliant but you can use a memory card & these come fairly cheap so I don't mind.
The camera seems pretty good, I like the autofocus feature. The MP3 player is good as well, it's really easy to do a data transfer onto the phone to put your music files on. I haven't had any problems with signal or battery power. Someone mentioned that the battery doesn't stay in & the back falls off but if you put it in properly & put the back on right that doesn't happen.
All in all, great phone, looks nice, don't see what the problem is. It makes calls, it sends texts generally functions really well.

I think this phone is a right eye catcher. I love it & I am getting a bargain. Only about £130. I personally think that is cheap. But some people may not. I don't know!
I love the design but I am only giving features & usability an 80% because I haven't tried that yet but from what I hear they are both good. So I think 80 is fine LOL :D

ARGH. Cannot stand my LG Shine anymore, after a week after I bought it my menu buttons & 'green' answer button decides not to work when I want it to. Even after pressing it hard it still doesn't want to work. the scroll button has a mind of its own & I agree with others that the photo album is very slow to load up.
I agree about the alarm sounds, I mean come on how could you wake up to those tones? I never hear my phone when it rings as I've got an MP3 tone so I have put the phone on vibrate just so I know when it rings.
O2 haven't been useful, they won't do anything with my phone but send it off for 2 weeks while they give me a replacement phone which I have to pay a deposit for. I pay insurance why should I have to pay a deposit.
Although, when I walked into a different O2 store, the guy laughed when I told him what phone I had & that the phone has a reputation for software problems' not good response!
Overall, not a very happy customer. Would not recommend this phone.

I like the way you don't have to open the phone to receive texts/calls &, being very superficial. I love the little icons & pics for contacts etc! I find it quite easy to work out really & I have had nokias for years so was quite concerned about having lots of different keys to work out but I needn't have worried.

Want a phone that looks stunning, get it. Want a phone you can actually use, forget it.
Got the first one in March, very excited about it all, then it arrived. The battery kept springing out of its compartment. It charged up very quickly, but as it spends most of its time having to re-charge, it has to. It's very complicated to use, signal fails very easily, sometimes cured by turning it off & back on again. The screen is a nightmare in daylight.
I thought it was a one off, & after 10 days suffering, Virgin very kindly & promptly said, ooh yes, it must be a one off. Have a new one. The second one came & the battery didn't spring out of its compartment, but everything else was even worse. In the next 10 days it had to be recharged 8 times, including morning & afternoon one Sunday, & I hardly use it. I have loads of rollover minutes & texts for next month.
As an MP3 player it is good, providing you listen through its own earphones, or even better ones. The phones own speaker is a joke. MP3s as ringtones is a no go. You won't hear it ringing. As a camera, I've seen better, & worse.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed by it, after spending the first couple of days leaving in full view so everybody could wow at its stunning good looks, all I want to do is make calls & receive calls, & because of its absolutely chronic reception strength, it is rarely possible.
10 out of 10 Virgin mobile. Only a month into my contract & 2 LG Shines later, they're giving me new one. A Sony Ericsson W850i.
Get the LG Shine for show only, its no good as anything else.

I recently bought a 2GB memory card for my phone for a bargain price of £18.99 this has boosted the phones memory a lot & I can now store hundreds of songs on here. I don't see how anyone has problems putting songs on the phone as I find it really easy & takes a matter of seconds to do.

I have one problem, when I call my voicemail (Vodafone) I can't navigate any of the voicemail options (to delete messages). Anyone else had this problem? I have tried another phone with Vodafone SIM & also another SIM on the Shine. Other phone works fine with Vodafone sim & no luck with other SIM in the shine. Leads me to believe there is a problem with the phone, surely this can't be a feature of the phone.

Well where to begin.
Having recently come to the end of my contract, I thought a nice little upgrade was in order. My old phone, the Samsung D600 has been a superb phone over the past 18 months, so I thought long an hard about which phone could live up to it. Then I saw the new Samsung u600, but t-mobile did not have it in stock. So I was convinced to by the LG Shine. Received it at 9.00am this morning, an at 9.30 I was seriously contemplating smashing it up. Don't get me wrong it is a beautiful phone to look at but that is it. Problems:
- MP3's sound terrible as the speaker is very basic
- the PC Software has no features except 'Memo/Schedule'
- Memory capacity is weak
These are just a few of the headaches I have encountered over the past 9 hours. This phone is for anyone who just wants to send/receive calls, send/receive texts & doesn't mind having a VERY expensive phone with VERY basic features!

I got this phone on the 20th March & I must say this phone is as good as it looks! The scroll bar gives the phone such an exciting feature as it is not seen on many phones. Yes it does get some getting used to when using the scroll bar but it's not rocket science. The features on the phone are fairly basic however the features that are available are probably the features you would really want like an MP3 player, camera & vid recorder, games, Bluetooth etc.
The mirrored screen is fantastic for them nights out on the town without giving the impression you love yourself & constantly trying to find a mirror to look into. The camera is great & to the person who made the comment that the quality is poor - that's incorrect. The quality is extremely good for a 2 megapixel camera. It's ever so clear even when zoomed in. The auto focus really helps the camera. Only problem I have with phone is it sometimes has the tendency to switch itself off when listening to music & the battery does not last very long.
Also for anyone who drives the hands-free kit is great & is so easy & comfortable to use.
Oh! & by the way you can use other features on the phone while using the MP3 player. Once in the MP3 player & you have started playing your songs, simply press the MP3 button on the side of the phone & it'll take you to the main screen in which you can access the main menu & other features! :)

3. Scroller has mind of its own.
4. No choice of alarm tone (the four they give you make you want to go back to sleep. Forever.)

If you are looking for a stylish phone rather than a practical & technically advanced phone, this is for you.
Navigating the menus can be frustrating with the roller, the video playback appears in a square about 30% of the screen size, the camera is poor for a third generation phone (especially in response time), you can only have 4 different message tones, the MP3 player is fiddly, & the battery life is appalling.
However, there is not a single better looking phone out at the moment, & just casually placing it on the table in the pub will draw gasps of admiration. It is compact but sturdy feeling, with a nice reassuringly heavy weight. The mirror type finish & the brushed steel do not scratch anywhere near as much as you would expect, staying remarkably like it was as when it first left the box, & the slider is precise & smooth.
This is a book that you should judge by its cover.

I have had this phone now for a few weeks & am disliking it more by the day. I had a Nokia 6280 before which was much better by far.
There are menus within menus, everything is long winded, even the predictive text doesn't give you the option to spell things simply that it doesn't recognise. I bought a 2GB micro SD & tried to transfer all my music from my other phone, it all goes on to the memory card but does not show on the phone because it only recognises MP3's. All the other phones I've had you can transfer albums straight onto. Not this 1. The voice recorder & speaker for the video recording is useless, I went to a concert & recorded a couple of video clips & the sound is so distorted you can't hear a thing, also it doesn't ring loud enough I hardly ever hear it ringing. The signal is very bad. The choice of only being able to use the 4 definitely ever get the option you wanted.
Shall I go on I am sure there's more to grumble about. It looks great though that's the only thing it's got going for it.

So far so good with my new LG Shine. Not had any of the poor signal that other people have experienced, but then I think I've been a strong signal area since I got the phone.
Design great. Love the large screen. Had a look at screen outside - a bit dim, granted, but my old O2 X2 phone was almost as bad
Texting way better than my old O2 X2 - apart from the selection of recipients.
Hmmm. Yes, MP3 ringtones - they do seem a bit quiet. Funny that sample MP3 tones are all quiet loud though. Could be something to do with level. May try & record a WAV & up the level of a track then make an MP3. In the meantime, picked an MP3 with lots of synthy high frequencies. Seems reasonably OK, but not ideal.
The main point of this 'review' is oddities with MP3 - other people have reported problems, so I thought I would write my findings:
If you don't place the files where the manual says (in /Sounds on internal memory & /Sounds/MP3 on memory card), they do not appear in the MP3 player screen. But what is odd is that you can browse to the files in 'My Stuff' explorer & play them. However, playback stops at the end of the track. Even stranger, you can play AAC M4A (MPEG4) files (iTunes default) this way too, but they will simply not list in the MP3 playlist screen.
This is a shame, & I would of thought to list M4A or similar files in the MP3 playlist would require little extra effort. Also, the function to play back all files in a folder to enable better organisation of tracks.
Another oddity: the Fast Forward function playing standalone files through 'my stuff' works better than it does in the MP3 player itself. The former slowly accelerates as you keep the FF key down, the player itself fast forwards a constant speed - & it takes an age on a long track!

I nearly didn't get this phone because of the many negative reviews on this site. Fortunately I decided to ignore them & try it out for myself - what a great phone. The looks we are all agreed on - amazing, but it works well too. The things I particularly like are:
- Amazing screen - clear, bright, good colours
- Clear text when sending/receiving sms's
- Excellent build quality - sturdy without being too heavy
- Very responsive keypad
- Good quality pictures from the camera (if I want top of the range pictures I will use my DSLR)
- Volume is great - earpiece plenty loud enough & ringtones (which can be supplemented by any MP3 track) are fine with easily usable volume
- Somebody moaned about the volume of the alarm (being too quiet) - it is a graduated alarm, e.g. Gets louder every few seconds
- people have moaned about the number of buttons needed to send a text - you can set writing a new text as a 'favourite' - it takes me two buttons to get to a new text screen & two to send. That can't be too difficult - not much chance of developing RSI
- Bluetooth responsible & reliable
- Good signal quality
- Battery has been great - using Bluetooth, MP3 & making calls (+txting)
All in all I would strongly recommend. You can't give a phone a bad review simply because you are unlucky enough to get a faulty phone, well I don't think anyway. I suppose that you can't please everyone all of the time, but this phone pleases me pretty much for most of it - best I've had.

This phone just oozes appeal.
Like other people have already said text messaging can be a bit of a pain if you intend to send multiple messages. It's quite long winded.
Once I got my head around it I think it's OK but has nothing on my previous phone the Sony V600i.
The phone itself is nicely made with good weight.
I upgraded the external memory to 1GB & the playback of MP3's seem really good. It's good you can use your own choice of headphones too.
Mine came with a fishing game & I have to say I am addicted to it, although the battery life seems to suffer.
Overall I'd say it's a pretty good phone that seems confusing at first but once you learn shortcuts etc it's quite functional.

I agree with most that has been said, I got the phone around a week ago & was so excited to get it. It is a nice easy phone to navigate, but does have some annoying features such as the choice of 4 message alert tones & not being able to use your own tones either for messages or the alarm. The signal is also pretty bad. I don't really agree that it is annoying to send & receive text messages, when you press the menu button it takes you straight to messaging, so I found this quite handy.
I also haven't experienced any 'freezing' on the screen, as other users have
I would recommend this phone, overall it has its downfalls like any other phone but I think the pros outweigh the cons.

Hiya, I really love the look of this phone & I REALLY want to get it however I have two problems. Could someone PLEASE answer them for me?
Problem 1
If I were to get this phone I would want either pay as you go or a really cheap contract like 15 pounds per month. HOWEVER. I have been browsing & it seems that you cannot obtain this phone with pay as you go. Futhermore. The cheapest deal is t-mobile. Can anyone tell me if t-mobile is good or bad because I have never had a t-mobile phone.
Problem 2
Everyone has different views on this phone & I am sooo confused at what to do.
A. Do you think it is a case of chance as some say they have had problems from hour 1 & other say it is perfect?
B. If I get one & it stops working etc. Can someone, from experience, tell me whether that is an easy thing to do if ask to replace it.
PS. I have put 50% on everything because I have no idea what it is like so if you are pondering on this phone ignore my ratings.

Design of phone is lovely, if the phone is in your pocket you can not hear it, music/ringtone very quiet. I thought there was a fault on the phone, took it back to carphonewharehouse to check another phone but that was the same. Speaker rubbish lets this lovely phone down. Changing the phone tomorrow unfortunately.

Got this phone a week or so ago & am slowly getting used to it! I think its great overall & certainly looks the part! Only problems I am having which I hope someone can help me with are:
- Can't seem to get the keypad (I.e. It won't let me type anything) when trying to use the browser. Gets to the page I want fine but can't enter any info! Very annoying, pls help!
- Having a few probs uploading music
- Is there anyway to get the zoom to work on the camera? the zoom in/out buttons on the side don't seem to work?
Any help greatly appreciated, especially regarding the browser!
Thanks!

I agree with a lot of the other reviewers. Compared to many other phones on the market, the LG Shine is simply not designed for ease of use. Don't get me wrong, it looks great & the camera is nice, but using the camera drains the battery faster than any phone I've had, & the predictive text has somehow been made less user friendly, too. It's nice, but somehow disappointing at the same time.

I generally quite like the design of the phone do find it annoying that it doesn't store much & can't change the message or alarm tones! I constantly ring the wrong person because of the scroll key & because of being outside the sun turns the screen back to mirror form! One thing I have come across though is that I can't turn my phone on again once I have turned it off without having to take the battery out is any one else having same problem?

If a phone is supplied with S/w that is supposed to Sync with Outlook & DOESN'T, then surely the guy that made this point is entitled to bring that to people's attention?
If it wasn't designed to do that, as you seem to think it wasn't, then why bother developing S/w for it in the first place?
YES, the phone looks nice, but as a functional Handset, aside from making calls, like most of the other reviews on here, I also find it totally useless!

Look yeah, for all you who want a phone that is so high tech & practically functions like a computer (e.g. the person who wants the Shine to synchronize with Outlook) I personally think your asking just a little too much. If you want a phone like that, I suggest you go & get yourself a Blackberry or a Sony Ericsson I.e. the P990i.
Obviously you're looking for something that most people aren't. I've had the LG shine for just over a month. My main purpose was for people to look when I used it (as the advert clearly portrays) & it does. Its a sikk phone, yeah it may not do all the crazy ass computer stuff some ppl want it to do, buh look its only a standard phone & if you look, LG does not make out the Shine to be the new generation of a computer phone. OK?
Thanks
P.S if you want the phone get it, it's good, it looks nice. But seriously don't get an 18 month contract!

Absolutely fell in love with this phone when I saw it & couldn't believe my luck when I got it home.
However, the day after purchase I was updating my phone numbers & the screen suddenly went dead. Key pad still illuminated but nothing happening from the screen. Managed to get the start-up logo to come up but then just goes dead again.
Took it back to the shop for a refund, but felt so confused about which one to replace it with! In the end opted for the Samsung D600 which I am hoping won't turn itself off when it feels like it just like the Shine does.
The Shine is great for an evening, but unless your idea of 'long term' is 1 day, I'd definitely.

Yes, it looks great.
But it is the less usable phone I've had in seven year:
- There are a myriad of confirmation screens to do the communication basics.
- I constantly lose my SMS messages due to the keypad design: when you press the 'ON' button you go to the main screen (of course there is confirmation everywhere but NOT there, thanks).
- The worst: I used the English language for my Phone & French for the T9 Language, but this rubbish phone doesn't let me do that. I select the French language for the T9, but the phone is constantly trying to revert it in English (it works with Samsung & Panasonic phones).
- Can someone tell me why the 'Automatic' option is present in the Phone Language menu? It can read the user mind?
- Direct buttons are only for the camera & MP3 player (it's a phone or what? ).

No Voice Tagging option for contacts so this phone is virtually useless with a Bluetooth hands-free kit in a car unless you get a cradle for it. Even then you can still be done by the police & find yourself with an £80 fine & 3 points for so much as touching the handset.

In the beginning I was frustrated getting some of the features to work (for example, for some reason it did not vibrate first 2 days) but the trick is to persevere, & finally it all came together.
Love it now!
My tip of the day (Anne of Leicester): don't try putting iTunes files into the phone. The phone only understands MP3, iTunes is MPEG4 (annoying.), & the capacity is only 50 MB, not 1 Giga unfortunately!

Most devices or other phones cannot find the shine. If I want to synchronise my contacts & notes & agenda from outlook, I have to import a file, empty the phone & load it again. Terrible, completely useless. All I want is that the phone synchronizes with outlook automatically & exchange information. With the shine, no change.

Excellent looking phone, but has many downfalls. It is VERY easily scratched. I went through two & they were both marked within a few days - even thought I had a case for it. I also had a weird mark under the screen of the second one which went from one end to the other. Is hard to do anything on phone when sun is shining etc, due to the reflective screen.
Always froze & jumped back to main screen when performing functions. Very irritating. No memory card is supplied & it doesn't support many formats of music, pictures etc. Difficult & time consuming to text & generally use phone. Battery also went down far too quickly.

Before I start, opening messages is actually quite easy, just scroll up once. I noticed a couple of ppl have found it to be quite a long task as I was reading their reviews.
I have had this phone for 5days. I have to be honest that I am quite disappointed with it especially since b4 it I had the n70 which is a smart phone. I've just made a list of what I have found 2b -ve points:
- Low memory capacity of 50MB (plus memory card not included)
- Not good choice of ringtones or msg tones
- Slow at sanding & receiving Bluetooth files & no application can be used when doing either
- Annoying when opening contact list
- Very low volume ringtones & MP3 player I.e. Bad speaker
- Sound quality is quite poor when speaking on phone
+ve points:
- Cool metal case
- Turns into mirror when on standby
- If only interested in looks then this is the phone 4u
Maybe I am comparing this phone to n70 that's it seems quite backwards.
I think I will be returning it soon.

Can't understand with all the customization in the world of phones today we can't even use our own message tones. Just brought this LG Platinum cd, which consists of 20, 000+ polyphonic ring tones/100+ real tones & loads of other photos & stuff inc.software. Didn't realise until reading this site that I can't change the message tones.

I've had the phone since Monday on a free upgrade from Orange.
As has been mentioned before - great design & build quality (love the metallic feel of it).
Has some software oddities (as mentioned elsewhere) such as:
- Cannot specify an MP3 as a message tone.
- Cannot select an image (transferred from PC) as a photo ID (don't know why but simply says unsupported). What is the supported format?
- Cannot have albums in folders - won't' be seen in the MP3 player.
- Really annoying one - when I switch on my Jabra Bluetooth headset (which is already paired & an 'authorised' device with the handset), once connected the phone automatically re-dials the last number!
Anyone heard of that or knows how to configure it?
Here's hoping that LG will provide a firmware update to iron out the quirks & make it a great phone with great software.

It doesn't take mp4's, which all my songs are now, thanks to the new itunes - I thort this was meant 2 b a new out phone? ! This then leaves a poor choice of ringtones to choose from, a limited amount of 4 message tones to choose from & a poor limited choice of alarm tones to choose from! An update to my earlier post of 11th Feb.
LG Mobile replied last Thursday to my query regarding the Software. The Disc supplied in the box only covers Windows XP & NOT Vista. If you are running Vista, as I am, you need to remove all traces of the Software, download the latest Version from LG's website, install it as normal BUT SWITCH OFF YOUR FIREWALL DURING the INSTALL PROCEEDURE.
If you then switch the Handset from a Mass Storage Device to Data Transfer, connect via USB, & THEN switch your Firewall back on, it will work fine. You can then Sync with Outlook/Windows Mail/Office 2007 without a hitch.
With regards to adding MP3's, I have found it a lot easier to drag & drop them onto the Phone Icon within Vista Sync Centre. It converts them there & then, but remember to switch your Phone back to Mass Storage Device, or it will become corrupt.
Unfortunately humble opinion.
I hope that this has helped all Vista users out there, who are having problems synchronising their Data.
