LG KT520 3G Phone Review

The KT520 has been designed by LG to reach the middle end of the mobile phone market & it comes with good looks & user friendly features. The LG KT520 is a 3G compatible slider phone which is mostly black in colour complete with chrome coloured effects & edging. The sleek black & chrome coloured casing gives this handset an expensive & sophisticated look. The slide opening system is smooth to open & beneath the slide opening system the user can access a well space & designed silver coloured keypad. The keys on the keypad all beautiful blend into each other which have a smooth bevelled appearance. The LG KT520 comes with a circular shaped navigation wheel which has a 360 degree control & the user can use the finger mouse control to smoothly control their selections from the main system. Next to the navigation control the user will find call keys which are accessible when the casing is slide closed. The KT520 comes with a 2.2 Inch display which provides up to 262k colours on the 240 x 320 pixel resolution screen. The overall size & feel of the casing is fairly lightweight & compact as it only weighs 97 grams & measures 49.6mm by 101.4mm by 15.3mm. This 3G phone will fit into the users pocket or bag when the user is on the move & when in use the user can enjoy a single handed operation of their new phone.

This 3G HSDPA phone supports GPRS & EDGE technology which allows the user to gain high speed data transfer rates when transferring data via the phones connectivity options. The KT520 comes with a USB port which allows the user to insert a USB cable into their phone & the other end of the cable can be connected to compatible devices including the user PC or printer to gain a connection between the two devices. The user can also enjoy a wireless connection using the Bluetooth® technology which allows the user to transfer files without the use of cables or wires to any other Bluetooth® compatible devices which is up to ten metres away from the LG KT520. The battery provided with the phone provides up to 290 hours of standby battery time or up to 3.5 hours of talk time when fully charged. The phone comes with a Web browser which supports XHTML & HTML Web browsing. The phone comes with an expandable memory card slot which can be used to extend the phones memory capabilities further which can support up to four gigabytes of external memory. The KT520 comes with thirty megabytes of internal memory.

A SMS text message service allows the user to share text input messages with other compatible mobile phone users & provides a quick method of communication for the user. A multimedia message service provides a little more as the user can send & receive a message complete with text, sound & a picture or video clip. The MMS service provides the user with an easy method to share pictures with other MMS compatible users. The LG KT520 comes call features which make making a call simpler for its user which include voice dialling, hands free speaker phone calling & the user can access call list which indicate missed calls & received calls.

A built in music player allows the user to enjoy a mobile music experience when ever the user wishes to hear their favourite tracks. The player supports popular music formats including MP3 & the KT520 supports both polyphonic & MP3 style ringing tones. A built in FM radio feature allows the user to tune into a selection of radio stations to catch up on the latest music radio show, news headlines & sporting information, all from their mobile phone. The integrated camera feature supports still image capture & video clip recording. The camera is a 3.2 megapixel camera which allows the user to enjoy capture the fun moments during their day on their mobile phone. The user can use the dedicated camera key when capturing & the phone comes with easy to use camera & video setting to ensure the user get the best result each time the capture key is pressed.

This phone worked fine for me since the day it was released but it's now suffering from the dreaded On & Off problem. The phone turns itself off & on at will, even though it was working fine just a few hours ago. After a bit of research it turns out that this is a well known problem & seems to affect most people who own the phone.

The MP3 player freezes after a while & requires battery removal to get the phone working again.

This means I'll now be without a phone for at least 2 weeks because it'll have to be sent off for repair. From what I've read. Even that won't get rid of the problem altogether.

Trust me when I say. Avoid this phone.

Although I don't really like LG, I like this phone, it is good my brother just got it & it is the best but be careful because the optical sensor is really sensitive but you have the option to turn it off. It's cheap as well at £90 to £100 but only on O2 because that is the only place I've seen it.
