This phone is okay, I like it, simple yet unique. One thing I am not sure about is if it has speaker phone, I have had this phone for more than 5 months & apparently it doesn't but reading the review on it above the description said it did? Help anyone? Is there a way to make it work. Speaker phone i.e. when you are talking to someone & you want to put them on speaker.

Bought this phone yesterday. Happy with it overall but reception isn't poor just erratic, it can go from 1 bar to 4 bars when staying in one place. The main thing that bothers me with this is that there are only 4 dumb tones for SMS!

Living in Alaska, LG phones are notorious or bad service. I didn't believe it, but once I got this phone I found it was true. It's not a big problem for me, but might be for some. The design is fantastic. But by the end of the first day I had the phone, the screen was scratched to no end. I was devastated, until a few weeks later when I discovered it had a plastic screen protector on it that scratched easily. There was still a scratch on the screen though, until the next day, when I discovered it had yet another screen protector. Over the next week I kept pulling them off. Cover after cover after cover, 14 total. (Keep in mind I bought this phone new) After the scratchable covers were pulled off, I now have a new, mirror like screen. Owning this phone after a Blackberry Curve is not a good idea though. The 2006 RIMS are huge, & upgrading to a tiny phone makes it hard for me to find it in my bag, or even my coat pocket. There are also only 4 ringtones for incoming text messages, though. Three are pretty annoying, one's alright, I keep that part on vibrate. It's easy to upload ringtones for incoming calls, though. Any song on your computer, just drag & drop.

Another name for this mobile is HORRIBLE. I suggest such a big company named LG to place plumbers or carpenters instead of engineers who have no knowledge of pasting or fixing the buttons. I purchased it & after 10 days all buttons came out of the keypad. No FM, worst video sound, low volume, & the most prior thing is the buttons of keypad, all made it worst & horrible mobile. I even complained, demanded for the buttons to the service centre but haven't received any benefit as the company do not have keypad buttons in stock.

This is the worst phone I had ever encountered. All of the metal keypads had already dropped off, ON ITS OWN. Once, my finger was badly cut by it.

The so called 2 megapixel camera is totally rubbish, from how my phone is performing, the picture quality is far worse than VGA.

Sadly, this phone has made me lose confidence in LG phones, so much so that I will not go near it again.

This phone is really good at looks & all of my friends got impressed. But this phone does not give good loudspeaker sound quality but the sound is perfect through the ear buds. Camera photo quality is better than many other 2 megapixel cameras with a Schneider Kreuznach certified lens. I really like the placement of the end call button, a perfect placing for one hand users.

Answer for Wanderer from Algeria dated 1st Jul 2008, To change SMS tone, go to the menu then 'Profiles' then select any profile like 'General' & then click 'Personalise' then select 'Message Tones' then choose a tone of your choice. But one disadvantage is that you cannot keep a message tone other than the tones provided by the brand.

This is a pathetic phone. I don't care about MP3 & all the other rubbish. I have iPod for that my main reason for buying this piece of rubbish was its sleek design. However, what I did not realize is this is the worst phone for phone signal Coverage. I work for Cellular & Wireless area & this phone is worst the lowest in terms of signal strength it requires to make a simple voice call.

Normally a phone will operate fine with neg 75 to 80 this phone gives you no bars with that signal strength you almost need to stand next to phone tower to get strong coverage.

My advice don't waste your money buy a Samsung, Nokia or Motorola stay away from this LG line of products.

A Beautiful phone, every part of the design is grand, with the exception of the end call button on the top left of the phone. That can be a little annoying.

I am not big on elaborate phones, & the features on this one are almost perfect for my personal needs. The only issues is the ringtones is comes with, the default games, the message tones, & the fact you can't change the menu theme. I am a lover of the black theme, but variation would be nice.

My one hate about the phone is the fact that when you dial phone numbers, it comes up in large annoying colourful text. It is pointless & just silly. The phone was obviously designed for females. If anyone knows how to change this feature (By downloading modes or what not) please post on this forum :).

Either way, all round great phone.

I got a TITANIUM version of this phone off eBay from Hong Kong a few months ago for $130 CAD. No one else has it & everyone is really impressed with it.

Pros, the design is incredible.
- Titanium colour.
- The 100% leather case I received with the phone protects it (did other people get this?)
- Camera takes good quality pictures, they just don't look great on the phone but they are fine on Facebook.
- Keypad is different shades of black.
- Easy to use.
- REALLY light & thin & shiny!
- Great ringtones.

Cons, text & call ID doesn't work every time, other people seem to be having this problem.
- Antenna at base of phone is a bad idea, when texting, it is covered up.
- Bad reception in grey areas.

Since I don't use Bluetooth or MP3 very much because I have iTunes, their flaws don't affect me. I got used to the small keypad really fast & I actually like having the 'end call' button on the top left.

Overall a great phone at a low price! LG rules!

Just got my mobile (unlocked), great features, stylish, & people are like Wow, what kind of phone is that? I guess that'll happen when you're basically the only one around with it. Love being in that exclusive group!

No FM radio on this phone, I miss that, but nice features, LOVE the fact that it automatically locks the keypad, Interesting default ringtones, too bad can't change from the 4 SMS tones, but I am sure that will change with some sort of firmware update.

Battery life seems a little low. Charged last night, & taken off charger at midnight, now only 2 bars left at 1400, might be due to me playing with it, but others seem to have issues with a lazy battery.

Good signal, but does have issue inside my work, where my other phone doesn't. Chalked that off to being from EU.

Camera is a little slow on capturing images, It'll grab the picture but save the blur of movement a moment after instead. I haven't had a chance to play with the video yet, but great features! The flash is amazingly bright, turned it on & nearly blinded myself checking.

Have not checked yet to see if it will play my MP3's as ringtones yet, but it should. I have little use for Bluetooth, so might be okay with it being slow.

Otherwise, fantastic phone! WOW!

I had it since October 2007 & it was thrilling to have this mobile phone. I like the design, it's so exclusive, the metallic case, the shiny screen.

For the US$ 200 mobile phone I thought that it has great features in it.

Although you must put on the screen guard, too bad if the shiny screen had a scratch on it.

One more, It fell a few times but it's still OK. :).

Okay, I have had this phone for some time now. The camera quality is great (much better outdoors). Despite what others say, I have had no problems with the sound. I find it is loud enough. I like the navigation, except I could not stand the grid menu (I changed mine to list).

I would have rather had the 'call end' button on the front of the phone where the cancel button is. I found myself fumbling for a button to exit out of web browser. (on the side, the off button).

Great design, & for a hint, leave the screen guard on! The shine is not a friend of keys or coins!

Overall, great phone, should have come with the data cable though. Retails at $200 here in Aust.

At its current market price, it's just but fair enough for the design & usability. I didn't go through yet with all its features as I just bought my unit 3 days back, but these things I just found out. Keypad is hard to press, Bluetooth is relatively slow & difficult to use outdoor especially under the sunlight. It's good I am using it only for my alternative. At the scale of 1 to 10, I rate it 7.5.

One of the best slim phones I have seen, everything is great but:

1) Bad message tones that you cannot add to
2) Horrible reception in greyer zones

Just bought this phone (gold edition). I got it at a roadshow for $240 plus with a 1 GB Micro SD Slot. Here are my reviews!

Plus points.
- Sleek design.
- Good camera quality (after all there are certified lens just like the other 2 LG Shine models).
- Affordable price.
- Easy to understand navigations without the need of a manual.

Bad points.
- Keypad hard to press.
- no 3G or 3.5G function!
- A tad too shiny (but that can ignored since it is a Shine Series)

Oh & if you see that you only get numbers instead of your friends names, try transferring contacts from Phone to SIM card! if not vice versa, I forgot which it is has.

I am confused by the number of negative reviews (especially the poor sound, which I found to be very good). I've had the phone for 3 days & it has been very good. Actually, I had intended to buy a Nokia, but saw this on my way out of the store & after checking all the particulars I bought it, at a good price. The features are great (maybe because I had a rather simple phone before) & it's amazing what has been packed into so little space. My only complaints [ (so far) are: (1) it's a bit slippery to handle, & (2) the antenna at the bottom is a poor choice because your palm covers it when holding the phone. Until I learn otherwise, I think it's a very good to very very good mobile phone.

After looking at the others reviews & using the phone, it is not a good phone, but the design is quite suitable for me & the Bluetooth is too slow, only version 1.3.

Good points.
- Best value for money in the comparable price range.
- Very pretty & sleek.

Bad points.
- A bit slow.
- User interface needs improvement.
- Camera could be better.
- Built in speaker is horrible.
- Can't change menu theme & message ringtones.

Suggestion, increase the price by 10 percent but improve on the bad points & you would have the best phone in its class.

Good looking phone. But I have a problem with choosing between this & the k970. Which is better? I want a light weight phone, don't mind a low number of applications & MP3 are always on my iPod so no worries. So both the phones fit the bill. Some help please?

Nice design, regular features, hard to use key pad, especially at night when not enough light available.

I can't say I can rely on it much as a heavy day to day use, I am using it for my second number, which I don't use a lot, but I have to be online always.

I just got this phone. I really like the look of it but I am having problems with the volume. With every ringtone it starts off really quiet when it rings then slowly increases to really loud. Is there a way to change this? Please let me know!

This was the nicest looking phone on the market when I bought it. It's also solid with features. However, the navigation is probably the worst I've experienced in a mobile phone. A big company like LG should pay more attention to software.

There are some useful features, such as a single button to open the camera or music player, but that's the end of the convenience. Navigation is clumsy & certain simple options are not available unless you go right back to the original menu screen, it takes a lot of button presses to do certain tasks.

It's a good design mobile phone, but. (I compare it with another brand mobile phone with the same specs at the SAME PRICE, SAME SLIM DESIGN, same 2MP camera, MP3 player, GPRS, edge, external memory slot, Bluetooth, casing from metal, java, etc.)

5 NEGATIVE POINTS:
- TOO SLOW TO ON THE PHONE!
- The Bluetooth only 1.2 ver. Slow.
- The exit button for application or web is hard to find (which is the small on/off button).
- The SMS ringtones are poor (can't use my own tones& only 4 tones to choose).
- Camera quality is terrible, compare to other 2MP camera phone (I mean the result).
- Phone colour quality is NOT that Good, 'SHINE' & Bright enough. (The competitor can SHOW 16m cool.)

I hate cell phones, but I am required to have one. So, let me just comment on what is good & bad about having this phone. The MP3 ringtones & sound quality in general sound like a buzz on this phone. Otherwise, the features, & style make up for that!
