I've had the phone now for around 9 months, previously a Kaiser II. HTC have a knack of pushing the features on their phones to the max.
Insurance is a must, with such a massive screen, it only takes one drop to break it. Battery life is as expected for a PDA phone, use it as it was intended & its sufficient (plug into your PC when desk bound etc).
The camera is very high quality but the auto focus is a pain & very very slow. Everything else is superb! In 9 months I've had one hang, unusual for windows & it's only annoying feature is that excel doesn't show in portrait mode but hey, that's Microsoft for you.
An excellent device when used as intended, business, personal & pleasure. If you want a toy to brag about then buy the iPhone, if you want a very useable all rounder with second to none connectivity then get this!

This is one seriously annoying phone. Why?
- Really poor battery life, I've had this handset for less than 2 months, conditioned the battery properly & yet now I can only get, at best, a day's life out of it. At worst, it lasts for a couple of calls, a dozen or so emails, about 10 hours, then it needs to be recharged. This isn't acceptable for a mobile phone.
- With the TouchFlo software activated, the phone keeps shutting down by itself. At first, I just thought I wasn't popular. Then I realised the handset keeps shutting down by itself. Turning off the TouchFlo interface seems to get around this problem, but then, like a lot of other people, I bought this handset because I liked the look of the software. & that isn't good.
- Something's not right about the internals, either the CPU is vastly under specified for the job, or there isn't enough memory set aside to run things. The software & handset continually hangs doing the simplest of tasks. Like looking up a contact, switching between MP3 tracks in Windows Media Player. Just about every application seems to take forever to load & give you what you're looking for.
- The touch screen is rubbish, there's no other word for it. Let's say you use a PIN code to lock the handset. When you come to try unlocking it, the display comes on quick enough, so you start typing your unlock code, four digits then Enter. Not that difficult you'd think. Except that by the time your finger has hit the Enter key, the screen has only registered the last 2 digits. So you have to start again. In testing, it takes 3 presses of the first digit to register before you can proceed. & I won't go into details about scrolling through the Contact list!
- The Opera web browser, the default web browser, is pants. I ended up using IE.
- The camera is poor too.
- After just over 2 months, the phone stopped charging the battery. I tried multiple chargers to no avail, so the phone was returned to HTC for a repair that took 3 weeks. Faulty main board apparently.
- To tide me over whilst the phone was with HTC, I borrowed a Samsung Tocco Lite, what a fantastic bit of kit! The touch screen never fails to work, the CPU & RAM are clearly up to the job, the software NEVER hangs. Granted, it doesn't have as many features as the HTC Touch HD but IT WORKS!
Buy this phone at your peril, it looks good but you'll end up wishing you'd paid attention to this review.

One of the best Smartphone's ever. It has everything you can imagine topped with huge screen, a lot of memory (288 RAM) & fast enough processor (Qualcomm CPU 528 MHz) so you will never encounter freeze, or slow response. It's too big, & can't say that is pocket friendly, but hey! There's a 3.8 Inch screen for fabulous movie watching & streaming. & memory cards are essential (using 16GB myself). This phone set standards so high that will be hard to beat it, can recommend it & my upgrade will be the same spec or maybe better (Snapdragon CPU 1GHz is on the way).

I have tried almost every touch smart phone on the market, & without a doubt the HTC Touch HD comes out on top by miles. The screen size & quality of picture is simply amazing. I bought the phone so I could interface with MS Outlook, this along with Mobile Office, downloading of attachments gives all the business required. With MS Windows as the OS I have loaded Tom Tom which works a treat. This phone has the lot, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G & HSDPA for fast Internet browsing. The music player is not too bad either & the 3.5mm audio plug means decent headphones can be connected boosting the sound quality. The only fault I can find is there is no scrolling function, only touch flow, but besides that this is almost perfect to have everything on the one device.

Hi there, I wanted to know whether this phone has the following.
- A loud speaker?
- Easily text & call?
- & is it fiddly?
I really like the features of this phone, but I am afraid it might be too fiddly to text & call, as I do a LOT of them.

Looks good but is this phone expensive & will it last long (will it get boring quickly) & does it have a loud music speaker & where can I buy it from on contract in the UK.

What a FANTASTIC phone, I only had for a week & it's doing wonders & it also compatible with tom tom, which is a BONUS, I mean I had the choice of this or the iPhone, but I enquired about installing tom tom on the iPhone & they said it was not possible, but on the other hand with the HTC, because it's a window's based operating system you can almost do anything with it like a laptop & more & plus the HD screen, is a amazing when you watch HD stuff on it like football & nature programs.
I recommended anyone who is getting an iPhone get this I promise you, you will not disappointed.
All the Best, Dave.

I just have this phone one week & must admit, this is the best mobile office you can ever want. This phone has everything, starting from mobile office, sat nav, very good organiser etc. After really hard using this phone over this week, installing some many different soft. I am still not even half way to know 100% of usability of this phone. I would be surprised if this phone not be ultimate phone of the year.

Received the phone as an upgrade was lured in with the iPhone like features. It is very much like having your PC on a phone. However, if you want to make calls or texting it is very very very fiddly. The touch screen requires constant use of the pen for accuracy, unlike the iPhone which responds much better to finger touch.
In a nutshell I have sent this phone back. If you are looking for a PDA get this. If you want a phone that is useable get the Blackberry Curve 8900, I just got it & its usability is superb & is much faster than the HTC HD.

A superb well designed & well made phone with an exceptionally clear & useable display. It easily doubles as a PDA, something which no other Smartphone does without compromise. With Windows Mobile operating system it can easily use other developers programmes, one of the recommended PIM applications makes it even easier to use.
Battery life is much better than the HTC Touch Diamond. It's a pity there aren't up & down keys or a scroll wheel which would make the phone slightly easier to use & less reliant on touch screen operation. However this is without doubt an excellent phone for all round business use but not recommended to someone who just wants a phone.
It pairs easily with the Bluetooth phone system in my car, & syncs with Microsoft outlook on the PC.
The Touch Flo 3D HTC interface looks pretty but, although quicker to use than other recent HTC phones, it is still too clunky & I much prefer to disable it (easily done).
This phone is well recommended.

I was due an upgrade at the end of October & struggled as to whether I should go for the much hyped iPhone 3G or one of its touch phone rivals! In the end I decided that the lack of stereo Bluetooth, MMS, video recording & a basic 2MP camera were enough of a reason to throw away the apple & I opted for the Omnia! Two Omnia handsets later (both had problems with the accelerometer & screen visibility was pretty much zero outdoors) I found myself leaning back towards the iPhone, until I heard about the HTC Touch HD. & I am glad I waited!
I have only had the phone since yesterday but so far I am very impressed! 3.8 inch screen, brilliant resolution, the touch flow 3d system is easy to use & does well to pretty much hide the windows OS for all basic functions. The touch screen is also more responsive than the Omnia (although not quite the same standard as the iPhone) but it is very easy to use without having to reach for the stylus (which is built into the phone rather than hanging by its side. Take note Samsung).
I imagine I may find some flaws as I continue to use this phone as nothing in this world is perfect but initial impressions are very promising! It would be even better if it could run Google android.
