Looks are fine, but this phone as reported elsewhere, has a real problem with switching itself on & dialling whilst in my pocket. I've bought a locking programme from SPB but this is sometimes inconvenient to use. Another problem is that its Bluetooth link to my Garmin GPS for hands free dialling is extremely unreliable, even with upgrading firmware etc. The standard battery life is appalling, so I have had to buy a second battery as backup. It doesn't match the M600 but is certainly faster & obviously, it has a better storage capacity. I would not buy this in the light of my experience.

So many negative reviews! There are many issues with this phone, but they are oh so easily rectifiable. I had the same problems as most people did when I first got this phone 9 months ago, but I persevered & now have an amazing handset which, come upgrade time, I am likely to keep & sell the upgrade for a stack of cash.

I have a locking system which uses the phone accelerometer, just flip the phone 360 degrees to lock & unlock.

Whenever you're not using the phone, tap the top button to turn off the screen, saves loads of battery life.

I have it set up with three separate email accounts for various business & news stuff. I barely use my PC for email any more.

I have a load of RSS feeds set up to give me stacks & stacks of easily accessible news etc.

After trying different set ups, I've settled for normal phone keypad with T9 for my text input.

I've also found a program to amend the T9 dictionary to add or delete words as you require.

It works with BBC iplayer really well.

I also have a program to divert media audio to a Bluetooth headset, so when people think I am working I am just listening to podcasts!

The Internet is great, but make sure you have a decent mobile web package.

In summary, you need to do a bit of legwork to get the absolute best out of this phone, but once you do, it is BRILLIANT!

HTC Touch Diamond number 1, The first thing that struck me about the HTC Touch Diamond is it really does look good! unfortunately that's the only good point! The phone is massively fragile, you have to keep it in its pouch all the time. Which to me is not really a problem in its self, but what is a problem is that some retard at HTC decided to put the button to unlock the phone right at the top of the phone, so if you happen to let anything at all touch the thing while it's in your pocket it'll turn its self on, & over heat. So that was the end of my first HTC, 3 days after I got it. Wonderful!

HTC Touch Diamond number 2, My second one I had just about long enough to realise that texting, or emailing is just about impossible with this thing, plus that pouch again! Can someone please tell me what Muppets idea it was to make the TOUCH screen light up with a big red end call button on it, so that by the time you've fumbled round in your pocket, & got it out the pouch, you've candled the call! I am sure I missed as many call's as I took with this phone because of this! My second HTC was clearly twice as good as the first though, because it lasted 6 days, before it got knocked off my office desk at work onto a soft carpet, maybe a 3 foot fall, but it was enough to destroy this bad phone.

To summarise, if you have no friends, family, colleges, or life in general, you never email, text, or call people, then go ahead buy this phone, it was clearly designed for you!
If however you do have friends, & do plan on emailing texting, & phoning people, then forget it, this device useless!

Got this phone as a replacement for an aging TyTnII & Kaiser. I liked the idea of the same features but in a smaller phone. There's no slide out keyboard like the TyTn but in practice I rarely used it anyway.

To really get the best out of this phone you need to do some research. A lot of the issues people have complained about, especially battery life, volume, etc are well documented, but every one of them is fixable.

Spend some time on good sites like XDA developers & you will find everything you need & more.

Since getting the phone, I have changed the stock Rom, changed the radio (Part of the phones OS) & added lots of tweaks & applications all which have improved performance tremendously.

The built in GPS is now fantastic, Wi-Fi is brilliant too. Battery life is also better by at least 60% over how it was originally & if you're still not getting enough life buy one of the heavy duty batteries available.

Quite honestly it's one of the best phones I've ever owned. The only downside is I wish they would make it fingerprint proof.

My previous phone was the HTC Wizard, a very similar design but more of a brick because it had a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Moving on from that brick I was delighted at the prospect of the Diamond imagining it to be all my previous phone was but at a fraction of the size. Sadly, I was wrong.

Initially I was fooled into thinking that the fairly sensitive touch screen is a brilliant design but then I realised how many calls I missed, that's because as soon as it starts ringing when I am walking along with it in my bag or pocket, it answers by itself & I never get to hear it, NOT helped by the quiet maximum ring volume.

I also expected the general operations to be the same if not better than my old mode, WRONG! Why do manufacturers go & make a good thing bad?

Most annoying problem I find is the text messaging. I turned on predictive text but it just don't work. Consequently it takes ages to type everything out! (My Wizard did this no problem).

I also chose the option to have the time always on top, but again it doesn't do that. (My Wizard did this no problem).

I also can't choose any program I like to be in the Start menu, how annoying! I use OneNoteMobile a lot but it won't let me put it in the Start menu, so annoying. (My Wizard did this no problem).

I didn't like the touch flo operating thing, I disabled that & went back to the win desktop, much easier IMO.

It's also very annoying when you're making a call, the screen goes black very quickly, this is most un useful when you've got to choose 1 of the following options in an answer phone queue system, or you're calling your voicemail.

&, like other reviewers have pointed out, the battery life is PATHETIC! I have to charge it every night & sometimes it doesn't even last all day if I use it a bit.

I've had it 4 weeks now & I wish I could change it for something that works properly, but I've yet to find an alternative. Bearing in mind I got this free on a contract, so I can't afford to go & buy something expensive now.

Avoid, avoid, avoid! Looks very good, has some super features & if it worked properly would be the best phone I have ever had.

Doesn't answer incoming calls, touch flo software a bit hit & miss but by far the worst aspect is the battery life. 6 to 7 hours from fully charged to flat as a pancake. Only advice from HTC, switch all the features off. Makes the phone a joke really.

As I said AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

This is not a pocket mobile PC. Is beta Mobile PC. Because of different problems appearing every time, they had to change for me twice. Finally I got Nokia N96, & I am really happy with it. HTC Diamond is a disaster. Avoid it. Maybe in 2 years we will be able to talk about the perfect touch phone. Right now it doesn't exist.

I bought this phone thinking it would answer all my problems, Qwerty touch screen keypad, fast Internet, attractive, big memory etc. It is very attractive & the Internet is fast but it is a nightmare to use. The battery life is a joke, if you put it down & don't touch it at all you might get 24 hours from it, otherwise It constantly runs out of battery when you need it most, I end up taking my charger with me to plug it in whenever I can. Texting or emails on the touch screen are hard work at best & requires all your attention. The operating system is slow & full of bugs so I regularly have to turn the phone off & on because it has stalled in the middle of something. When on the Internet the pop up keypad on the screen can appear whenever you touch the screen & it is incredibly frustrating. In the daylight when the screen is locked you can't see anything on it to unlock it so you have to hide it up your shirt to use it. This phone is at best annoying & I want rid of it as soon as I can.

A very smartly styled phone with excellent very clear screen. The device is very slim & easy to carry in a shirt or jacket pocket. It is extremely well made. The windows mobile operating system enables many third party features to be added & the device synchronises well with a windows XP PC, using Microsoft outlook. The touchflo 3D interface, though very attractive (particularly the weather feature), is clunky to use & the touch screen isn't terribly responsive. It's a pity the touchflo interface can't be personalised. Battery life, whilst continually using Bluetooth, making & receiving calls & using the programmes installed, is poor, it is worthwhile having a charger device to enable a boost to battery power during the day. The device needs charging each night. Calls are easy to make & receive & the sound quality is good. This is an excellent phone for anyone who wants a Smartphone for all its business features. However, the battery performance lets the phone down & anyone wanting to use it extensively would be better advised to go for the HTC Touch Pro which has a more powerful battery. Otherwise I would recommend this phone as it has many positive attributes.
