Bought the Desire S a week back. This was also my first Android. The phone is very very good. In term of pros & cons here are my top five:

Pros
- Superb fit & finish, metal body a delight to hold & see.
- Screen superlative in every which way. Bright clear colorful.
- Android market is vast & covers most areas.
- HTC UI is as smooth & easy to grasp even for a new user.
- Setting up emails, downloading apps, whether, contacts, messaging all very nice.

Cons
- Battery life one day & I am not a heavy user.
- Slippery & so one feels a little scared that it may slip out of the hands.
- Back prone to smudges.
- Cannot think of anything else.
- Ditto.

Would highly recommend this prone to a prospective Android buyer. Go ahead & invest!
