BlackBerry 8800 SmartPhone Review
The user can use their stylish new BlackBerry 8800 to send & receive emails complete with documents attached. The email service on the Smartphone works like the user email service on their office PC or laptop but the BlackBerry 8800 can fit in the user coat or jacket pocket. The user can enjoy & experience a fully mobile email service which allows the user to work when they are on the move. The phone supports an instant messaging service which allows the user to have a online chat with their contacts who have an instant messaging service & are online. The instant messaging conversation works like an online chat between compatible contacts using text & symbols. The user can create, send, receive & store text messages & multimedia messaging on their BlackBerry 8800. The user can select their phone to simply vibrate with no ringing tone when in a meeting or in an environment where a ringing handset will disrupt others. The vibrating alert can be set with or without a ringing tone & will let the user know of activity by a subtle movement of the whole handset. The BlackBerry 8800 comes with a handsfree speaker phone facility which allows the user to hear their contacts talking over the phones built in speaker system, this allows the user to rest their handset on their desk & continue to work whilst talking without holding the handset to their ear throughout the call. The user can set their voice activated calls to their favourite contacts which allow's the user to simply make a call with voice activated commands.

The 8800 is not all work, work, work as it comes with a fun element which is in the form of a built in media player. The media player allows the user to play music & video on their handset which can be for work reasons or simply for pleasure & entertainment. The media player can play a selection of music & video formats which includes all the popular formats. The BlackBerry 8800 supports ringing tones in polyphonic, MIDI & MP3 format. The user will become extremely organised with the 8800 as their new companion as it includes an easy to manage phone book, organiser, task list, calendar, memo pad & support Personal Information Management (PIM) software.

What a fantastic phone! At last a serious piece of equipment without all the gadgets that never get used. This is not a teenage toy like so many phones have become, but an intelligent & well thought product that increases productivity. My work efficiency has increased dramatically from having this phone. Every time I wonder if I can dial a number contained within an SMS message with one click of the wheel or jump to a specific item somewhere else on my phone the answer is always, yes! A design masterpiece in both concept & style. To those people complaining about not being able to use the small keyboard because they have sausage fingers, you're obviously not working hard enough.

The Blackberry 8800 is great. It is easy to use although.
- The keys are very close for my sausage fingers.
- Bluetooth not working with another phone is a REAL PAIN.
- The voice dialling button is too convenient & can be presses by accident when unit is not locked.
The case is very nifty.

My mum recently purchased this phone & she loves it. There have been a few problems however:
The Bluetooth would not work between other mobile phones & after complaining about this found out that Blackberries cannot receive data unless it is sent from another Blackberry (very annoying).
There are no spaces between the keys which makes any typing rather difficult, but manageable after a few days.
Overall the phone seems very good & is very pleasing on the eyes (the cool little cover is also a nice touch).

I got this phone last Wednesday & I think it rocks. I was put of by it having no camera but looked at my old phone & saw I only had 1 pic on it so no real loss. Email set up was a walk in the park no shock there. The bb maps was not working at first but then noticed I needed to type in my tcp works fine now. I found the menus were a bit boring past the first two main ones. But I soon found software to jazz them up. I think as time go's on there be more & more apps for the 8800 & for the gps. Garmin is now out for the bb which looks good as it has all the maps on so no data downloads. There is talk of tomtom been reformatted for the bb so hope that comes out soon. All in all this is my first bb I have had htc, Nokia, Sony/Ericsson, moto the lot & I cant see my self changing from blackberry now. The 8800 has speed & power & endless battery life. The phone works in harmony at end of the day rim hardware rim software. Typing is easy after learning to trust the keys. I could go on & on but to sum it up SPOT ON!

Well I have this phone, I only got it on Friday. It's so good the fact that it has an Internet but the sad thing is that it doesn't have an integrated camera which is a real shame really because I love phones which have camera.

Some people think the Blackberry 8800 is a move forward from the 8700 (size, features etc). I have extensively used the following Blackberry's: 7290, 8700, 8800, 8100 & 8300. The company policy at my organization prevents the camera from working so having a camera (or not) is not an issue for me.
Out of all the Blackberry's I listed I must state that the 8800 is the worst Blackberry that I have used to date. Yes, it has an updated browser & capabilities from the 8700 & is leaps 'better' than the 7290, but it just plain loses it when it comes to usability.
The main purpose of a Blackberry is to quick & easy typing! The 8800 does not have any space between the keys which makes it very difficult to type compared to any other Blackberry on the market. This is something that was 'corrected' in the 8300.
Take a pass on the 8800. Why else would you be getting a full keyboard mobile if you we're going to be using it for a lot of emails? Stick with the 8700 or go for the 8300.

I have to say I need a new BlackBerry & would not consider any other handset or manufacture for my business needs, this 8800 is a very well equipped Smartphone but I may wait & get the Wi-Fi model which is the 8820 & it will be very popular in my London office. I travel far too much with my work & I have to have a BlackBerry as they have never let me down before. Don't get me wrong I have to have a BlackBerry for business needs but I am a Moto & Sony Ericsson fan for my weekend phones.

I bought this phone for my husband, & he just loves it! The built in GPS features are awesome. It is indeed worth every penny. Only minus, no camera. But who really buys a phone for the camera features?
