Overview
The BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 is a sophisticated 3G Smartphone which comes with a compact & beautifully designed casing with a totally modern feel to this well equipped Smartphone. The Pearl 3G 9105 is from the same family as the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100 which is another 3G Smartphone with a desirable compact casing & a variety of Smartphone features. The Pearl 3G 9105 has a subtly bevelled keypad & it supports a BlackBerry® operating system which comes with a stylish user interface. There is a built in camera, music player, Web browser & a variety of easy to communication & messaging features.

Appearance & Size
On the front of the handset, there is a TFT colour screen which supports a 360 by 400 pixel screen resolution & displays up to 256,000 colours, a touch sensitive optical trackpad navigation control, call keys, menu key, back key & a bevelled keypad. This keypad has a curved design which makes each key easy to select & although this Smartphone does not supports a QWERTY keyboard, each key can be used to input alphabetic characters as with a standard keypad but its bevelled & curvaceous design makes it easier to make keypad selections. The optical trackpad navigation control allows the user to make menu & features selections using smoothly operated scrolling movements. The overall shape & size of the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 makes it a pocket friendly Smartphone for the user to carry in their pocket when not in use. Its dimensions are 10.8cm tall by 5cm wide by 1.33cm deep when in its vertical position. The Pearl 3G 9105 is lightweight to carry thanks to the materials used during manufacture & it weighs a total of 93 grams with its fitted battery included. The user can choose a colour casing to suit the user's desired look & this Smartphone is available in some snazzy colour options including a royal purple coloured casing, red gradient colour, opal pink plus more subtle colour options which include a piano black colour option & a flash white colour casing.

On the back of the casing is a 3.2 megapixel camera lens which comes with an automatic focus, 2.5 x digital zoom, flash feature & this camera lens supports video recording capabilities. For music & video entertainment the user can access the built in media player to playback videos which can be enjoyed on the colourful screen or to playback music for a high quality sound experience. The BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 supports music playback in popular music formats including MP3, WMA, WAV, eAAC+ & video playback in popular video formats including MPEG4 format. Ringtones can be heard when new calls come in or as new message alerts & the user can choose different sounds to use, as well as enjoying ringtones in MP3 format & as polyphonic sound. The Pearl 3G 9105 comes with preinstalled games & the user can add new games by simply downloading games of the user's choice. When playing games on this Smartphone the user can enjoy using easy to reach keys to control their chosen game.

Communication & Messaging
The Pearl 3G 9105 supports multitasking feature which means the user can be on a call whilst reading an incoming message plus updating their Facebook® status, as the user can enjoy using multi applications which are open at the same time. Its integrated organiser feature which will keep the user of the Pearl 3G 9105 fully organised at all times as this feature comes with a memo pad, calendar, address book, task list & a calculator. Using the calendar the user can add important events to their calendar & manage their business schedule on the move. Staying in contact with business contacts, family & friends couldn't be easier as this Smartphone supports easy to use call features, as well as an array of messaging service which provide a variety of messaging methods to communicate with others when a call is not possible or will not suffice. A MMS message can be used to share pictures, photos or videos, with sound or music & with text, all this can be shared with other MMS compatible contacts & provides a quick way to share media. A SMS message is a message which contains text & symbols & this message is equally simple to create & is ideal to use for communication when a call is not possible or relevant. The BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 supports an online instant messaging service allowing the user to communicate with other contacts that are online whilst taking part in an online message conversation. An email service comes with a user friendly email layout & the user can create emails complete with attachments, just like the user would do on their personal computer. The document attachments can be attached & viewed in popular document formats.

A security feature which allows the user to password protect their Pearl 3G 9105 prevents others accessing any of the user personal data on their mobile devices. Its 3G HSDPA & HSUPA technology provides the user with multitasking of feature & applications plus this technology provides high speed connectivity when the required. The BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105 covers GSM networks & 3G networks which allows the user to use their Smartphone worldwide. A GPS navigation feature comes with a BlackBerry Maps™ application which gives the user turn by turn direction to their desired location. The change of the keyboard on the 9105 from the 8100 series design is a nightmare. Why change what wasn't broken? the new games & 3G are a win, but I am finding the keyboard a nightmare & don't like the QWERTY ones either so may very well be looking to another make very shortly.

This new model is packed with features which can be very useful. The size & weight are a bonus but I suspect this will turn into a negative the first time it is dropped as it does not have the strength of my previous Blackberry.

The new feature that try's too guess what you are typing is a negative & turns sending an email or text into a nightmare. Just to make matters worse you cannot turn this feature off.

I would not recommend this model because of this feature.
