Overview
This BlackBerry Smartphone comes with a sleek & tactile designed casing which its user will never want to put down. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 supports a powerful processor & a BlackBerry® operating system version 6. It comes with a highly useable bar form casing complete with the lower section of the casing supporting a full QWERTY keyboard. This Smartphone is an ideal choice for the business users on the move, & for personal use the user can enjoy the easy usability of its stylish design. The Bold 9780 is a member of the popular & beautifully designed BlackBerry Bold range which includes other Smartphone such as the BlackBerry Bold 9700, the BlackBerry Bold 9000 & the BlackBerry Bold 9650. There are so many features & technologies built into this Smartphone that its user could not want for anything more, as the user can communicate on the move using its messaging services, enjoy capturing photos & videos, listen to music for entertainment, browse the Web, all whilst enjoy the full QWERTY keyboard design of their Smartphone.

Appearance & Size
This neatly designed BlackBerry handset come in either a white coloured casing or a black coloured casing depending on the user's colour preference. It has smooth edges & well positioned selection & control keys for ease of use. There is a touch sensitive optical trackball navigation control which provides a responsive & smooth control when the user is using the Smartphone's integrated features. The Bold 9780 supports the familiar BlackBerry layout with its easy to reach BlackBerry key, back key & call keys well positioned for its user. It is a lightweight handset when considering all it's built in capabilities & it has compact dimensions even with its good sized screen & full QWERTY keyboard positioned on the front of the casing. It weighs one hundred & twenty two grams & its dimensions are 10.9cm by 6cm by 1.4cm which make it small for a Smartphone, with a slightly chunky feel which feels good to hold in the single hand. The screen provides a high resolution viewing display & it measures 2.4 inches diagonally. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 comes with security features which include a screen lock & a password protection setting.

A Smartphone is so much more than a phone these days & the BlackBerry Bold 9780 comes with so many media & imaging features which will not only provide entertainment on the move but will enhance the users mobile phone experience on a daily basis. Music can be played on this Smartphone via the built in media player which supports easy to use music controls & can play many formats of sound. A fully charged battery can provide approximately thirty six hours of music playing time depending on other features being used during this time. Playing videos is a fun way to relax & provides much entertainment for the user plus this Smartphone supports a wide range of video playback formats including MPEG4, WMV format & H263. Video & photos can be captured using the integrated rear facing lens which is a five megapixel camera lens & this features supports many photo & video recording settings to ensure the desired shot or recording is captured.

WiFi® technology means the user can connect to a local or nearby wireless hub, LAN or hotspot to gain a connection to the Internet, therefore the user can browse the Web in many locations when travelling. The user can enjoy a HTML Web browsing experience on their Smartphone & access many popular Websites including social network sites & YouTube™. The Bold 9780 is a 3G HSDPA capable Smartphone which works over HSDPA 850, 1900 & 2100 networks, as well GSM networks 850, 900, 1800 & 1900. Approximately five hours of talk time can be gained over either a 3G or GSM network from a fully charged battery. A memory card option allows the user to expand their Smartphone's memory by inserting a card which is up to 32 gigabytes in size, but the Bold 9780 comes with a 2 gigabyte card & has 512 megabytes of internal memory. The BlackBerry Bold 9780 comes with an assisted GPS navigation feature complete with BlackBerry® maps. A connection to other compatible devices can be gained via the phones USB connection port or by using Bluetooth® wireless connectivity.

I've been very picky with mobile phones all my life, used to have the bold 9700 & loved it. Then this year I got the curve 8520, but hated this so went back to bold & got the 9780 in white. Best decision I've made! Brilliant phone, looks abseloutely georgous, easy to use & just an all round good phone. Although it has been in repairs twice with the charging port breaking, I still love this phone! BOLD ALL the WAY.

A complete waste of money. Feel only paid for a 'name'. My little cheap phone did nearly as much, & I could send photos free, not have to pay £5 a month for the pleasure!

There was no mention on the Box that this was an obligatory tariff payment! Be sure this is my last Blackberry purchase!

I am not at all sure what the fuss is with BlackBerry. This is my first one after years of Nokia & iPhone. I have found this very hard to set up in the first instance. Now that it is working, the phone is excellent quality & looks like long battery life. However, the keyboard is terrible. Compared to the Nokia E72, it is very hard to type & be sure that you will type correctly. I cannot find a way to view word documents either. I am sure that it can but it does not work out of the box like all the other Smartphones I have used. Despite the raves about the operating system, it seems very complex after Symbian & iOs. Finally, it looks good but the build quality is not great. For example, the battery cover keeps falling off. Overall not at all satisfied.

Coming from an HTC Hero, tempted by the Bold 9780 & glad I was. Great phone, great features, I am hooked!

iPhones however good just do not tempt me, I don't want to sit for hours messing with my phone!

If you want a Blackberry, get this one, you will not be disappointed! You can keep your touch screens.

My first BlackBerry, got it a couple of weeks ago. It takes a bit of getting used to as it is different to use than previous Sony's & Nokia's I have had. The OS6 software is brilliant & absolutely bullet proof, just seamless progress from one menu to another. If you want a great phone & do not want a touch screen, you will not be disappointed.

Great phone.

Had a Nokia e73 but fancied a change, first I bought the BLACKBERRY TORCH 9800 had it for a week or so but could not get on with it.

Too heavy & unable to text with one hand also had a issue (like all the BB Torches) with the slider working loose, very annoying.

So I went into my Virgin store & swapped it for the BB Bold 9780.

A great user friendly phone all the whistles & bells like the torch but so much better, fits in the hand great, & an all round better phone.

If you are thinking of getting a BB this is the best.

I have had this phone for a couple of days now. Its my first Blackberry, I previously had a Sony w595 so this is my first Smartphone.

I really like this phone. I messed about with it for a few hours & got used to the trackpad & the layout. Its tricky at first for people that aren't used to BB but the features are good & its a nice phone. The phone feels sturdy enough without feeling huge, the screen is good. The camera works well, video camera isn't amazing but if you want an amazing video camera then go & buy one. The call quality of the device is good, much better than the Sony I previously had.

All in all I would recommend this phone. I am not techy but it does what I want it to & I have no complaints. I didnt give it 100% because I don't think I have had it long anough to make that kind of judgement!
