Excellent phone. Everything is fine. Organiser is perfect. Synchronization is very good. I wish I can use my GPRS facility of phone on my lap top for Internet. Modem is not supporting this feature. If somebody help me to use Internet (GPRS) facility of my phone to operate Internet on laptop my all wishes will be fulfilled. Means if the phone acts as a modem in that case.

This is my first PDA phone & I can say it's a really bad experience. Despite many good features & design of the phone itself, it is not stable & runs slowly. & this is the second set of the same model phone that I hold. I exchange the first phone for the second 4 days after I bought it. The reasons were the phone auto-reset many times without any known issue & the other side of the line complain that the volume is too soft.

Problems encountered for the 2nd phone:
- Unable to make calls for a few times (my friends can call at the same location), can only make calls after resetting the phone (sometimes more than once). I don't know how many calls that I might miss due to this.
- Despite changing the settings for the backlight to 5 minutes many times, the backlight automatically switches off after 20 seconds. It even occurs when I am still writing on the screen.
- Buttons on the keyboard don't function too well. There are 2 characters on a single button & if we press a certain key, supposedly we can switch to the second character on the button. Today, more than once, even after I release the button & press the letter that I want to use, the second character still appear.

To cut the long story short, these are only some of the issues that I had faced. Frankly speaking, I really regret buying this PDA phone. I like the functions of a PDA phone & would most likely buy one for my next phone but it would definitely not be from BenQ-Siemens. I am going to send it in for servicing & hopefully most of these problems can be resolve.

I have the Benq-Siemens P51. I also have the P50. The P51 has the much needed WM 5.0 upgrade & GPS. However, Benq did not improve the camera or the radio. The camera is 1.3 MP where 2.0 MP is now the standard. It only has GPRS & not Edge nor 3G, the new standards. Signal strength is lacking. Support is abysmal. The firmware, which requires an upgrade, is not posted on the Benq website only the manual. By way of example, the P50 had a better firmware upgrade for its Chinese language module than for its English module. Email correspondence receives no response. The screen size is a real plus, but the lettering on the keyboard is very difficult to see. Like the Motorola MPX 300, another phone that could have been the best of the best, the Benq P50 & P51 has fallen short of the mark further compounded by an incompetent effort to adequately support the products.

I have to say the features are almost perfect. P51 has pretty much everything under the sun except 3G/UMTS/HSDPA support which is a shame. Still it is the most features complete phone ever in this size & form factor. I really like the fact that it still retains SDIO which provides greater expansion options.

Expansys UK has already put up the price & accepted pre-order. So hopefully it will shipping soon.

I think BenQ-Siemens has done a good job with this phone. Hope they can keep up the good work & next year come up with a follow-on model P52 that will add 3G support.

It's of course impossible to give ratings on practical experiences at this moment, so the ratings I gave to this mobile phone are based on the specifications in comparison with other mobile phones that are (soon) available.

There are some features that are not mentioned in the specifications. Like the GPS-receiver with SiRF Star III, A2DP-functionality for Bluetooth, Wifi supported types are b/g, 128 MB ROM + 128 MB RAM & a Xscale PXA272 416 MHz processor. It comes with Windows Mobile 5 so it has all standard PDA features & there is a lot of software available for it.

All these features together in a single device is very rare to find. My opinion is that there is only one device that has almost the same spec's, the Fujitsu-Siemens PocketLoox T830 which has a 2 Megapixel camera + front camera & UMTS/3G support. But it is bigger, heavier, has a PXA270 416 MHz processor, 64 MB ROM & 240x240 resolution display. I'm not going to use UMTS so my choice will be the P51.

I read reviews that said that in Holland the P51 will be released in September. I also read reviews which mentioned November, but I stay optimistic.

Sleek looking for a smartphone & well equipped with touch screen, stylus, qwerty keyboard, push email, windows 5.0 & handwriting recognition. I am pleased to see the P51 smartphone comes with a camera, video & music feature as well as great smartphone features.

I have reached a point in my life where I need a smartphone for my business needs but I have been looking for over a month for the right one. I like the BenQ-Siemens P51 but I am not sure when or if it is available in the United Kingdom. I would be grateful if someone could let me know the release date of this smartphone & I will keeping an eye on this site for other users comments on the P51. It looks great & the specification is ideal for my needs but I would like to hear more about it from the users. Enjoying this site & bought my wife the Sony Ericsson K800i after reading information from this site, thank you.
