BenQ-Siemens M81 Review

The sporty BenQ-Siemens M81 has been design with the sports enthusiast in mind. The handset comes in a sporty & urban design which is shock resistant. The casing has a rubber shell & comes in a choice of steel blue or graphite black coloured casing which adds to the sporty look. The graphite black coloured casing is coloured mainly in black with grey sections which surround the keypad & the screen. The steel blue coloured casing is coloured mainly in white & comes with steel blue coloured section which highlight the keypad, screen & camera lens which is located on the back of the handset. The M81 weighs 96 gram which is a light weigh for such a highly featured sports focused phone. The phone measures 105.3 x 47.5 x 18.4 mm which is compact & provides a comfortable size handset for the user to carry when they are on a run. The BenQ-Siemens M81 comes with 27 Mbytes of built in memory & with a RS multimedia memory card slot.

The phone comes with a colourful TFT screen which will display the user selection of screensavers, wallpapers, messages & an easy to follow menu system. The screen works as a viewfinder for the camera & video feature. The camera is a 1.3 megapixel camera & has a revolving lens cover which protects the lens from dust & water. The camera comes with a 5 x digital zoom & a flash feature which will allow the user to capture a close up shot even in duller weather conditions. The camera feature can easily be turned into a video feature which allows the user to stream, download, play & record video clips on their BenQ-Siemens M81.

The M81 comes with a USB connection which allows the user to connect to any device which has a USB connection. The device can include a personal computer, laptop & printer. The user may prefer to have a wireless connection between devices which can be gained using Bluetooth® technology. The Bluetooth® connectivity allows the user to easily connect to any Bluetooth® compatible device & enjoy a wireless connection between the BenQ-Siemens M81 & the other Bluetooth® device. The phone comes with EDGE technology which offers the user high speed data transfer which is three times faster than GPRS. The M81 has a WAP Internet browser for the user to enjoy at their leisure & comes with tri band network technology.

The user can be in the middle of a work out or on a long run whilst listening to their favourite music on their M81. The music feature on the phone allows the user to manage their own music & enjoy music in MP3 & eAAC+ format. The user can play their favourite music out loud over the phones speakers or have a personal listening experience with the stereo headset which comes with the phone. The user can change their ringtones to play their favourite music each time a call or message comes in. The user can use the voice memo feature to leave voice activated reminders.

The sporty BenQ-Siemens M81 comes with organiser features which will assist the user each & every day. The features can be found from the main menu & include a calendar section, integrated calculator & alarm clock. The user can access their phone book quickly which will contain all their contacts details. The BenQ-Siemens M81 comes with text message & multimedia message services which are an easy way to stay in contact with others. The user can send a multimedia message which is a fun was to show others your recent photos & video clips. The user simply includes a photo or video clip with sound & text then sends the completed message to any compatible multimedia messaging user.

I've had this phone for 5 months now, bought it from a friend who had used it for almost a year. The phone is unique in its own way. One thing I appreciate most is 2G coupled with opera mini makes surfing truly a top end experience. On the up side is the battery, I charge it daily & the worst is the rubber coating peels off especially at corners giving it an old look. The soft keys are made of rubber & can peel off easily, my phones soft keys are long forgotten I use finger nail instead & can't find a new case & keypad, if there's a BenQ Siemens sales rep reading this please do something. If you are thinking of buying this phone you better think twice! Value for money 80%

I hope the M81 is as good as the Siemens M75 which was a real hit with my eldest son, he loved it & still says it was the best sports companion. The design of the M81 is a little plain but it is a sports phone & the integrated features look fun & of high quality. I hope its a winner but depends on the price & quality of features.

Looks like a Nokia sports phone not a Benq Siemens, this is negative. Give us a 3G sports phone which has amazing looks.
