Bad points.
- Quite a tall phone in length ways so maybe not pocket friendly.
- A bit on the heavy side.
- Sometimes you will just crave buttons as there is only a menu button.
- Some features on the phone aren't very useful to some people so they have wasted their money in something they didn't even want.
- For a very upmarket phone a 2.0 megapixel camera isn't very good really & no flash either.
Good points.
- Quite thin.
- Very bright screen.
- Large touch screen.
- Excellent media player.
- Great call quality.
- Very good features.

2 Weeks ago I would agree with most people that its overrated & the lack of video recording & a 2MP camera would make this phone not much use & I would probably go for the n95 8GB, but I decided to go in depth with it & go to my shop & have a go with it & trawl through the Internet & YouTube for everything you can do with the iPhone 3G right down to watching a guy on Apples website going through about 30 minutes of what you can do with the iPhone 3G & now with 3 weeks to my contract running out other phones are NO way getting a look in. If I want a camera I will get a cheap one for real & better than 5 to 8 mp ones that are stuck on mobile phones these days anyway. This is one serious slick, brilliant little device which adds a phone & SMS to it with a fantastic interface touch screen. I can't wait to get it my hands on it now.

I just have a few questions would be great if someone could answer them please.
- Is the touch screen easy to use?
- Is it true you can't send or receive things on Bluetooth?
- Is the connection of the Internet fast?
- Is it a good phone for music?
- Is it pocket friendly aka. Will it fit in your pocket?
Thanks if you can answer these.

I have tried loads of phones the past few weeks, such as the Motorola Rokr E8, HTC Touch Diamond, Nokia N95 & LG Viewty to name a few. & all of them I took back within a week, the iPhone however I am loving it.
People say, it's got a rubbish camera, well its better than the LG Viewty which was a blurred mess even after 30 or so shots & different settings. It's a quick point & shoot affair on the iPhone which is all most people need.
You can't Bluetooth pictures etc or send them in MMS, well I sent in the last 12 months about 8 pictures via Bluetooth & MMS, so that don't bother me.
What I love is the unlimited Internet surfing where ever I am with the O2 contract, & the very accurate GPS which is miles better than the HTC Touch Diamonds & Nokia N95. It's amazing to be able to zoom right in on Google earth & watch the blue GPS dot move as you walk around your garden, it is that precise.
The Apple store is a great way of getting all the latest & best software apps for it, the iPod music player the ease at which it was able to fully pair up with my JVC EXAD KD AVX33 Bluetooth head unit displaying all contacts etc.
I never wanted an iPhone, being one of the people saying its rubbish & overhyped etc, well I am eating those words now & even my wife who hates gadgets is very impressed with it.
I suspect that the people who are slating it are the people who don't own one, yet!

The only people who slate this phone are the people who don't own one. I've had Nokia Smartphone's my whole life & this has moved the game on! No manufacturer can compete. & it's Apples first attempt at a mobile phone & they're making mince meat of everyone else! I can never go back to the use of limiting old plastic buttons.
The camera is only 2 megapixel yet the picture quality is by far better than my 5 megapixel Nokia or Samsung. The seamless touch integration when doing daily tasks is an absolute joy. & now with the introduction of the App store I have more apps than you could shake an N95 at!
Brain training is one such addictive app that puts the DS version in the shade! I've also got lots of cool apps from 3D games that will rival a PSP, to video & voice recorders.
My only problem with this phone is the battery life but even that, as poor as it is, is better than my N-Series!

For you people out there that don't have this phone then I suggest you go buy, or at least try it properly before slating it. The iPhone 3G is a piece of art, yes most of the functionality is available on a lot of other phones, but none operate in any way near the same way. The key with this phone is the way it works. The whole user experience is superb - intuitive, seamless & a pleasure to use which a very high quality screen which has a brilliant touch interface. The web surfing is practically as good as on a PC, which I've never come across on a mobile phone so far, not on a Sony Ericsson or a Nokia & I've had both. The text facility is unique & the email is near Outlook quality. The iPod speaks for itself, better even than the Walkman phones for sound clarity & the way music is organised & presented, the camera although only 2MP is of a higher grade lens so its 2MP is a good as many on a higher res but with lower quality lens & the range of applications from buying music via iTunes on the fly, checking your FaceBook profile, to doing a Sudoku or finding your way around with the brilliant GPS maps facility, this phone has so much to offer & does it all so beautifully.
I've been a died in the wool Nokia & Sony Ericsson fan for over 10 years & like many when I first heard the hype about the Apple phone I was like yeah, whatever, & certainly the absence of 3G on the first model did not even tempt me. My last phone was the Sony Ericsson W960i, a lovely Smartphone, 8GB, Walkman player, email, calendar etc which I loved, but even this just does not compare to my iPhone which I was determined not to like but has just completely won me over & I can't see myself going back to another model until they catch up.
Of course it's not perfect, being tied to O2 excluded many potential users (although you can buy an unlock code very easily now) & the battery life is a pain if you play video or constantly surf or use GPS, plus the text input does take getting use to, & you need a third party software to customise ringtones, but I am happy to live with that for the time being & I am sure Apple will address this in future models.
The iPhone is in my opinion as near to perfection as a mobile PDA, phone can get at the moment & Apple have managed to create a step change in consumer expectations that other manufacturers are going to have to work hard to compete with. Try it.

It is a cool phone with multi touch technology with wide screen & 3D graphics. It is the combination of business phone, multimedia phone & iPod. Apple iPhone 3G is more good looking & with more advance technology then normal apple iPhone.

I have the first iPhone & upgraded to the 3G one I loved the first one & the new one is just brilliant even the pictures taken on the camera are better I've compared them those people who say it's rubbish go back to your boring Nokia Sony or Samsungs because they all boring phones stop slating iPhone for what it don't have & just love what it does because there is nothing better & you all know it after all apple have only made two phones how many have the others made (this week) enough said no one forces you to buy it but for those thinking about it go for it, it don't disappoint take it from one who knows they are here to stay.

I am a Mac & a PC user since more than 20 years & quite fed up of seeing Apple manufactured equipment discussed in emotional rather than in rational terms.
I used up to a few days ago an old Palm Treo 650 device, which I synchronized with Palm Desktop for Task & agenda management, & used as my personal mobile phone. I use a Nokia E65 & tested a Blackberry 8300 as professional phones. The Blackberry is so complicated to use that I had to buy & partially read a 600 plus pages book in order to configure it to retrieve my email & sync the phone with my computer. I was not really successful synchronizing the Blackberry with the Macs so I decided to continue using my old & faithful Palm & gave up of the Blackberry. I keep it to offer to an acquaintance that I moderately dislike. The Nokia is small, & light, & functional but the instruction that you need at that exact moment is always 4 layers deep in the menu hierarchy & you must remember that to get there you have to push the read bottom, them the blue one, to slide the grey arrow to the right & turn the phone upside down. Very intuitive. The iPhone is a much more complicated device than the Nokia, with functionalities equivalent to the Blackberry, so I was expecting to spend a few hours learning how to use it. I got mine from the shop at 7 p.m, went home, 30 minutes to get there & start configuring it. By 8 p.m. I had activated the phone & learned to use all its basic features including retrieving the email without reading any manual, unfortunately one.
As it has been happing with computer & their operative systems sine some time, probably in one year most mobiles will be imitations of the iPhone. Some better, worse than the original. & we may have a terrible new Apple something that most other companies will imitate in 2010.

In India iphone 3G is coming in September 2008. But I want to know something about iphone.
- What do I do if the iphone hangs, because its battery is built in.
- If a virus affects the iphone when its connected to the Internet, how can it would be removed, because the iphone has no antivirus, like Nokia (N95 has F secure).

No doubt Apple will keep making tiny changes to keep it's fans spending more money, not good enough, this is still missing many features of it's rivals costing much less, I have changed to a chinese copy at £70.

The iphone is actually rubbish people only like it because you can touch it in ways & it got a iPod on that's why you get MP3 on mobiles. & all the other stuff on it you probably need the Internet. The cameras rubbish just a 2MP & doesn't have a flash & not even a light so you can't see pictures in the dark.
& it is very rubbish the LG Viewty is better if you want a touch phone & the Nokia N95 8GB is a lot better in every way!

Hi everyone, just writing in to say that this device is too good. We somehow always find faults with everything, often ignoring the good. As they say we never remember the grains of rice but do remember the little stones that may come into our mouths.
All you out there. Just go & buy the iPhone. It is fantastic. Awesome touch UI, good battery, super chic & very stylish. Connectivity ease of use is commendable. :-).

Does anyone actually own one of these? Please help me decide whether to buy the iPhone or wait for Omnia.
With iPhone.
- Can you put it on silent?
- Can you download & watch films?
- Does it support various video formats (other than MPEG)?
- What is the calendar & organizer like?
- Can you go to every single one of the websites or is there a restriction?
- Would it work in Asia, Middle East, Far East & Russia etc if I am on holiday?
I don't use Bluetooth anyway so I am not bothered about it not working extensively. & I am not too bothered about the camera either, I need it to have a reliable fully working Internet & GoogleMail & maps. Your opinion would be appreciated, thanks all.

This phone is really over hyped, went into O2 store to get it & realised how many features it is missing.
The size of the handset is way too big in my opinion not pocket friendly.
The big no no for me was the fact that even though I was willing to put up with missing features that phones from 10 years ago had, the ringtone volume was appalling.
I asked for a demo & I could hardly hear it. I mean that was supposed to be one of the improvements over the old phone.
Overhyped, overpriced.

Apple have once again managed to create a huge hype over this phone, probably due to their huge marketing campaign but the only thing special about this phone is the good web browser & video playback. 3G has been on phones for years & apple should have put it in their first phone & only having a 2 Mp camera is horrendous, this just shows how bad the iPhone is. Apple brag on about how easy the phone is to use, well what do you expect in a phone that can barely do anything e.g. It has Bluetooth but you can't send anything with it or receive data because it's for headset use only, it comes with N Series devices.
