I am not an Apple fan after having it for a while, so I will be trying HTC next time, had loads of good feedback about HTC's in my office. I felt slightly riped off by Apple & would prefer an Android now. I know many that are happy with this phone, but not me : (.

Yeah, it works. But I hate being tied to iTunes to download anything to my phone.

It has typical Apple philosophy i.e. 'This is the way we've designed it & the way you are meant to use it so don't try & use it in any other way'. Some things are so basic e.g. the calendar. It cannot be customised in any way. Same with tones, you can only use those which the phone came with, other than ring tones.

One of my biggest gripes is that because Steve Jobs doesn't like Adobe Flash Player you cannot view anything on any website which uses Flash Media Player to view.

A user is not able to replace the battery & needs to return it to an authorised repairer to get it replaced, hate to think how much that will cost. Given that I have to charge it every day, sometimes twice a day, the battery will only last up to 2 years (Lithium batteries start to die after 600 charges).

This is my first iPhone & I won't be buying another.

I've had this phone for just over a week now & I am very impressed with it! The battery life can last about 2 days & 15 or so hours on a single charge.

Downside, you can not add your own sms tones or ring tones.

TBH, I really don't think it's worth £500 on 3 PAYG!

This is the best phone I've owned by a country mile. The screen clarity is superb. My partner has a Galaxy S & I would easily say the screen matches that for quality. This is my 1st iPhone & I must say I am hooked for life. Used my mums 3GS for a while which got me wanting an iPhone. Love the apps, love the simplicity of using this phone, even my gran could work it.

Beautiful phone, impeccably packaged, delivered on time, doesn't actually work. Neither my colleagues at work nor the Apple contact centre could get the phone working, & after a day & a half of trying (3 calls, 40 minutes) I have given up & sent the phone back to Steve.

The website that I apparently need to access in order to validate my identity & begin downloading apps is, at the time of writing, about to begin its 3rd day of non operation.

Appreciate that an outfit like Apple hasn't built its reputation on a lack of reliability, but mine didn't work.

Many people have complained about iPhone batteries, that it could not be changed. Actually it can be changed but through professional people or Apple service centre & some people say 'why no external memory card for iPhone', do you think iPhone engineers are not aware of this or they cannot make external memory? In order to avoid any conflicts while downloading program on external memory the iPhone engineer don't make external memory. IPhone is a complete mobile phone which has very professional application & program & it's open for developers to make new application in order to make iPhone more professional than Nokia & Sony Ericsson. Etc you have external memory which gets struck often & program get conflicts. At the time you remove memory card. Too many useless functions are not important but little useful functions are important. If you see iPhone made only 4 models during 10 years period & every model is an upgrade to another model. Nokia make 1000 models in 10 years most of them are not upgraded.

What a fantastic phone! After many months of deliberating whether to go for the iPhone or not I finally took the plunge after being loyal to Nokia for the last 20 years & I am so glad I did.

The iPhone 4 is the best looking phone I've ever had & is so easy to use. My wife had an HTC Wildfire which was a nightmare to work compared to the iPhone & she is also switching to an iPhone now.

There are no signs of the signal problems that were around when this phone was first launched & everyone I've shown the phone to, including iPhone 3 users, have said what a stunning phone it is & the design is amazing, such an improvement on the iPhone 3.

Would I recommend it, OH YES!

I have been an admirer of this site for 2 years now & would like to thank Your Mobile Phone Reviews & all the posters here for their reviews. I could never buy a phone that does not allow Bluetooth transfer of information & also does not allow you to change your battery. I am also immune to hype so let me again thank everyone who has told the truth about the iPhone & its serious limitations. I'll stick to Nokia. The world's best & leading mobile phone manufacturer & leave the iPhone for women & children.

Hi all.
Have read most of your comments, so decided to add my 2 cents.
Had several iPhones before (3G & 3GS)together with WinMo & now Android devices.
In my opinion, Apple's drawback is RESTRICTIONS & DEPENDENCY. The ability to change battery yourself is necessary, as battery life is limited. Also sharing files via Bluetooth is a must nowadays as MMS is restricted to 300KB & 5MPx camera does pictures about 1MB+.

TBH, I see WinMo as dying OS & the new WinPhone OS didn't catch me enough. Symbian, no comments :).

For short while had Palm Pre but it's limited apps is a no go, however it's very well equipped device out of the box, but mostly for professionals.

So the choices are Android & or Apple.
Currently using Apple i4 32GB & HTC Desire, as couldn't decide which one is better. IMO these are the best of both.

My negatives towards iPhone are :
- Unable to replace battery myself.
- Adding stuff to iPhone requires PC, your PC!
- MicroSIM.
Except this I can say that is very good device, easy to use & easy to manage & surprisingly battery last 2 full days.
It's more like fashion thing but does the 'workhorse' job as well.
On other hands, my Desire gives me more options to customise to my liking & is more advanced.
Can't say which is the best (that's why have both :) ).
At the end is up to personal preferences.
Quality build is among the best. Also was expecting more innovation regarding design & OS features & speed. Despite having double RAM & CPU speed comparing to 3GS, can't see breath taking difference between 3GS & i4.
& microSIM is just another joke from Apple. It should be kept for iPad 3G version only!
Overall, I can recommend it, but again : it's up to personal taste.
Myself using Desire as main device as it's more flexible & practical & i4 is good for fun.

I am not an Android fan nor Apple fan boy, just trying to be objective & compare devices in real conditions & not from web reviews.

Had mine since 29 June. Never had even a hint of a problem. For me it's the finest phone I have ever owned by a country mile. I have had HTC Desire, numerous N series phones, several Samsungs & every phone has pluses & minuses. The iPhone 4 gets most things right for me.

Some reviews on here seem to be repeating stories rather than experiences. If its the worst phone you have ever had, explain why & list the other phones you have owned so we can gauge how credible you are.

For me the screen is fantastic, call quality excellent, I love the simplicity & speed of the operating system, if you use iTunes then there are no surprises here & I have never seen an easier to use music & media system on any other phone, camera is good & video is very good. Not sure what else I could want from a single device apart from Flash on Internet & a longer battery life.

In short, love it!

What can I say but that I loved from first touch, only gave it 75% for design because not to keen on the glass back but I am getting use to it. As for the highly talked about signal problem. Not a sign of it, best signal I have ever had in my house period & I thought my blackberry 8900 was good. No screen problems, in a nut shell perfect. The screen is so clear I find myself playing with it all the time. Plenty of apps to go at. The camera is very good & a flash at last. What finally got me to get one & leave my Blackberry behind. I could go on but if you do decided to get you won't be disappointed, I do have a cover for it now, the griffen reveal given free by Apple & it is a good one. I got it by downing the iPhone 4 case program of the app store.

Hi I am another disappointed Apple user. I have rated this so called Smartphone for design, features & usability fairly, but overall I think Apple should stick to the computer industry as the iPhone 4 is an embarrassment in design.

I have used Nokia N95, HTC Magic, Apple 3G, HTC Hero & now the Apple iPhone 4, which has now been returned & I am considering going for the HTC Desire. My phone is important for work & has to be ready to use quickly, I want reliability which the iPhone 4 doesn't provide.

The iPhone 4 has been rushed out. What is all this casing, antenna & yellow spotting on the screen all about? Just not good enough for the end users. This huge error on Apple's behalf will lose them respect & customers. Yeah, yeah. Yeah you are more than likely shouting at your screen now that Apple offer such great apps, but seriously have a look at the Android market, its catching up fast. If it's pretty, nice looking & unreliable then go ahead stick with the Apple iPhone, but after a while you will more than frustrated with this product, just wait for the novelty to wear off, it wears off quickly believe me. I sat here asking myself 'could I put up with these antenna issues on a daily occurrence' & a firm 'NO' was the answer.

I guess HTC & BlackBerry are really the way forward if you are a high end user looking for a reliable Smartphone. What a mess, after so much hype!

I had an original iPhone then a 3G missed the 3GS out & deflected to an HTC Desire for a while, but have come back from the dark side for the iPhone 4. The HTC is by user experience a better phone however the apps are not of the quality of the Apple apps & once you have had the luxury of the apple apps you will struggle with the Android app store, in a year or so it may catch up & then the race will really be on. The HTC having customisable screen & shortcuts & mini programs are great instead of just the apps, it also does the multitasking & allows you to kill off apps when you have finished with them. I have had call drop issues with the iPhone 4 but as soon as I put a back cover on it I don't seem to get the problems & to prevent it becoming scratched I always have my phones with a screen protector & back cover. I am for now & the near future Apple through & through if the app stores improve then who knows what the future will hold but it will definitely be a more difficult choice!

I received my iPhone 4 from O2 on Saturday, I have had the 3GS for 1 Year & believe this to be a tremendous upgrade. Everything works fine as I would expect, the build quality is excellent & solid in the hand, the only flaw in my opinion is the lack of Flash support, which is a backward step, although Apple suggest HTML 5 is the way forward. All things considered, nothing currently compares with this, I would suggest it's a must have handset.
